Am I mad to be wondering whether my latest pen is a dud? I can’t begin to describe the difference in how I’m feeling this week. Food noise is back with a vengeance. All I can do is fantasise about nice things to eat. Weight has stalled too, but it’s more how I’m feeling. Started a new pen a few days ago…

I feel this with my 7.5mg pen Im using, and it’s the only pen I’ve had reactions too

Where is yours from? Mine is from e-surgery. Hadn’t used them before, but bought from new places in the chaos before 1 Sep price rises!

Crinklecat · 16/09/2025 20:25

@MissMogs Online clinic. Also a rush order

DownhillAllTheWay · 16/09/2025 21:59

NSV here which is good as actual weight is bobbing around not really shifting.

but - I’ve dropped four dress sizes! Two sizes down in jeans. Bought new (to me) clothes from vented 1-2 sizes down from my big size and I’ve had maybe two wearing of each of them before they were too big too. Don’t know where the shrinkage has come from since the weight loss has actually stalled, but I’ll take it.

third month on 5mg and food noise is definitely back which is annoying. Going to have to go up to 7.5 with my next pen. Ouch on cost.

second nsv - went to a playground today and sat on a swing. Was tight but not painful. Amazing (to me anyway).

only just started this 5mg pen so got a few weeks before I can move up doses. Really hoping I can at least maintain weight rather than like it back on again.

must stop buying junk. Must find snack foods my children will love and I will loathe.

@ChiaraMontague it never ceases to amaze me how critical people are of WLI. It’s like they don’t want people to be slim! If you were on blood pressure tablets no one would care but weight means everyone has an opinion!

They don’t want us to be slim!

So following from a couple of weeks ago, had a week off from injections and did my 2nd 5mg yesterday and all the horrible side effects are back. People have said 5mg is the worst for side effects, has anybody had similar and moved up a dose and felt better?

I think it’s because it’s the biggest jump for your body to get used to - doubling the dose. That’s why a lot of people step up to 3.75 first

That would make sense, thanks

If you're concerned that your pen might be from a bad batch, or if it may be counterfeit, then get the batch number from the pen and get in touch with Lilly. They give details here

Edited

Wouldn’t even have thought to do that so thanks! I think I’ll see how I go next week. Weighed again this morning and still no change, but cravings don’t seem as bad so could just be me!

Crinklecat · 17/09/2025 16:15

I tried jabbing without the wipe and I’ve still had a reaction. So not the wipes. Just seems to be this pen. Weird

RatherTardy · 17/09/2025 21:00

Not been on here for AGES.
Work's been a bit bonkers.

Weightloss slow - slower than most of you - but steady.

But a LOAD of NSVs in the last week or so, and i wanted to share them here, because they're making me happy. Its all a bit chicken-and-egg, because i feel differently = I'm dressing a bit differently = people are responding to me differently.
Feel great having a bmi of under 30, consequently wearing clothes i wouldn't normally wear... brighter colour (read, "colour"). and then people say "thats a lovely colour".
I got a size 16 jumper off vinted. Its a baggy jumper, but its baggy on me in the right places (sleeves fit). I'm not wearing a size 28 or 30 in order for it to be baggy. I'm NOT a size 16, but some size 16s fit.
Several people have commented I've lost weight
And that feels AMAZING.

Love reading all the progress you guys have made

Wishiwasgardening · 13/09/2025 10:43

Yes, I'm currently taking 1.25mg every 3 days from a 5mg pen, so 0.15ml. I started on week 3 and adjusted the dose by tiny amounts each time until I hit the sweet spot. I've been ordering the next pen up each time, so will be moving to a 7.5mg soon, but will continue with the 1.25mg dose unless the suppression wears off. It certainly helps to keep the cost down as well as the dose more stable through the week for me.

It does mean using the pens well past the recommended 30 days, but I have a science background and I'm happy that I'm taking precautions to minimise any risks. There's plenty of anecdotal evidence from others doing this under the guidance of doctors in other parts of the world.

One thing I did find is that the standard 1ml insulin syringes are too big to accurately measure the tiny 0.15ml required (will be even smaller with the bigger dose pens). So I managed to find some 0.3ml insulin syringes on Amazon of all places. They are BD brand, which is well known and good quality, so I'm happy with them being sterile.

Im v interested in this, as i think microdosing is the way forward as/when I get within shouting distance of goal weight.

There was a lot on here about ensuring you buy sterilised needles on an earlier thread. And amazon was considered to be especially poor for this.
Are you happy your needles are appropriately sterile?

In which case, would you mind sharing a link, please?

MissMogs · 18/09/2025 08:02

Finally the scales budged again! Tbh I didn’t expect this sort of battle until a bit further down the line, but there you go. 3 months today since I started MJ.
SW: 104.4kg (16st6)
CW: 89.1kg (14st)
GW: 57.2kg (9st - top end of healthy weight for my short-ass height!)
Mini goal: below 85kg as that would be my lightest in about a decade!!

Plodding along here Smile Shotsy says I’m nearly a 1/3 of the way there though!

BadgerFace · 18/09/2025 08:19

I think 2.5 stone in 3 months is pretty phenomenal @MissMogs!

I am also interested in micro dosing @RatherTardy. I am thinking of buying 7.5mg for my next pen as I have been quite hungry on my second 5mg pen and then maybe using the last week plus golden dose to microdose over then next month.

W17 D1 for me and I’m a pound down so v happy with that as that’s the most I seem to ever lose and is better than some weeks.

SW 12 stone 2
CW 10 stone 8
GW 10 stone 7
Aspirational GW 10 stone 2

So if I’m lucky I might get to my main goal next week, although I’ve got three nights out in a row starting tonight so I’m not overly hopeful…!

In other news, I had an email from my supplier yesterday saying that after the price hikes “Eli Lilly (manufacturer of Mounjaro) has decided to offer a reduction in price of Mounjaro pens to us and therefore we are able to adjust our pricing accordingly in order to pass on the savings to our customers.”

Looks like they’ve reduced by £10 per pen so not loads but every little helps!

Sogfree · 18/09/2025 08:43

Anyone else who stayed at 5mg found the suppression stopped being effective? I jabbed this morning, and could eat a horse right now.

Definitely eating more, and wanting to eat more.

Scales stuck for the last 3 weeks.

I'm reluctant to go up to 7.5 because of the additional cost mainly. But I think I might have to.

ChiaraMontague · 18/09/2025 09:58

@Sogfree DH stayed on 5mg for 2 months but found the appetite suppression was wearing off by week 10 (although he was still losing weight but at a much slower rate). He’s gone up to 7.5mg now with no side effects and weight loss is back on track.

ChiaraMontague · 18/09/2025 10:02

@SunandMoorabsolutely! And in fact I’m on two long term medications for hypothyroidism and PCOS which she has said nothing about. Mounjaro is helping symptoms of both (especially PCOS symptoms) one of which happens to be weight gain / difficulty losing weight.

Crinklecat · 18/09/2025 10:50

@Sogfree yes I’m hungrier and thinking of food more after 9 weeks on 5mg. I’m trying to stick it out as after a weird weight gain it’s back on track.

Sogfree · 18/09/2025 10:56

Thanks @ChiaraMontague and @Crinklecat

Helpful to know it's not just me with wearing off suppression effects.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go up to 7.5mg. I'll probably buy a 15mg pen, as it'll work out cheaper.

Wishiwasgardening · 18/09/2025 11:26

@RatherTardy these are the insulin syringes with fixed needles I use. I'm personally happy that they are sterile because the manufacturer, Becton Dickinson is well regarded and supplies the NHS. The vendor (Medisale Ltd) is a UK based medical supplier with their own website, I just used their amazon platform for convenience.

Pretty sure those are what we have, I feel confident using them.

jabbed for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday. Suppression back instantly! Thank the lord as yesterday I ate everything on sight - despite that the scales didn’t rise that much today!

NeedyTiger · 18/09/2025 14:05

Hi all hope it's okay to keep popping back in and out periodically, I have had my second telederm app on 6th sept and it turns out it is skin cancer it's not SCC as first thought tho but early BCC so it's being removed and reconstructed so will have a scar on my face but my life isn't in danger so all good husband isn't home still but we are cordial for now anyway I have taken my first 7.5mg dose this morning I'm still a bit lost and have been for weeks now I have plateau I think I have lost and gained the same kg for a month now but I think the 5mg wasn't working so well so I'm grateful the doc upped my pen for me , I don't have the bandwidth for calorie counting yet but have been trying not to ruin my progress so far so maintaining the loss is all I can deal with at the moment but my doc called me in for my 3 monthly check part of the condition of having the jabs she weighed me im 65.6 kg and also I have got my hba1c down from 76 to 45 in 3 months ! So she's very pleased with my progress too ,
Anyway hope you are all well as always you got this ❤️

Hi
Thats still more than me , so i guess i am a slow loser.
Started 22nd June and lost 2 stone 1lb.
I am in two size smaller jeans and tops though now.
So 14 is slightly tight but manageable .

I had to go to the vets today and vet said , wow, you have list a shed load of weight , gave me a real boost .
She knows i am on Mounjaro .

I had on one of only 2 pair jeans that fit now .
Two pair are still too small at size 12, all the rest are far too big by a lot , impossible to wear as they drop down 🤣
