@TragicMuse and @SilenceInside she was SO sweet and pretended she hadn't read anything on it. But because she's been such a great support with my weight loss she must have seen it and thought it was a celebratory post from me and my probably still 50% body fat 🤦🏻‍♀️

GnomeDePlume · 07/08/2025 23:02

Found you! I thought everyone had gone on holiday as the other thread had gone quiet

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 107kg BMI 41.8
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

In old money:

SW 21 stone 8lbs BMI 53.5
CW 16 stone 12lbs BMI 41.8
GW 9 stone 13lbs BMI 24.6

So that is 4 stone 10lbs off in 38 weeks. I started a couple of weeks after a family wedding so lots of photos from the day. This is useful to see how I have lost weight as when I look at myself I dont really see it. It doesnt help that I carry all my weight around my middle.

Hardly counts as a loss this week! We had a bbq at the weekend plus probably a catchup from our week off. Them's my excuses and I'm sticking to them.

It's our wedding anniversary this weekend - 34 years! Thankfully DH is on board with the whole thing so no chocolates will be offered.

This has been a week of focusing on other things but mounjaro keeps doing its thing in the background. If anything this week has shown me a glimpse of what eating for maintenance will look like - and it's a sod of a lot less than I used to eat!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/08/2025 07:32

Happy anniversary to you and mr gnome @GnomeDePlume 🥂

PearlsPearl · 08/08/2025 07:52

Happy anniversary @GnomeDePlume 34 years is pretty amazing!! Have fun celebrating.

I have also lost 4 stone 10! And don’t really feel any different. I can see my face is much slimmer but that’s about it. But everyone’s commenting on my weight loss so they must see what I can’t.

swiftbirdy · 08/08/2025 08:29

Happy anniversary @GnomeDePlume

Hello everyone!
I’m mid 50s and been overweight all my adult life. Started MJ at the end of January at 19.10st and now weigh 15.4st. Currently on 12.5mg and about to start my second month at that dose. My average loss is just over 2lbs a week.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 09:29

So... I've come back from camping and this thread grew to 10 pages!!! I'll just read quickly before posting my check in!!

-lovely to hear everyone's news and sv and nsv! This is the best thread I've ever been on in my 16years on mumsnet ❤️.

I only lost 200g this week (which I could replace with a glass of water or 2) but as it was 107. 4 to 107.2 that apparently crossed a lb boundary so I'm claiming it at 16stone 12 this week as that sounds better! I'm 1lb away from 5stone loss!

I'm a bit nervous about this month having not really moved much weightloss wise. Did others have a natural plateau at 6/7months or 5 stone loss? Is anyone else worried about eating too little and slowing their metabolism down? I've read about having intentionally higher intake days/weeks but not actively tried it. I probably did eat more camping though... I'm going to actively try to eat 3x a day and not undereat too much I think. I'm exercising more too which is supposed to help I think?!

Camping was on the whole ace. I can move more, walking to the loos wasn't an issue and we did a 90min walk one day that I could do no problem as it was overcast (I can't walk in direct sun) and just being mobile made the whole thing so much more enjoyable. Noone quizzed me on weight loss which in this situation was what I wanted - it was just lovely.

@Autumnflowers2 I had a similar experience to your beach walk. Going out realising I could just park one end and walk to the other (and back) was amazing. No looking for benches or rocks or worried about slowing everyone down or needing to stop. Lifechanging. Literally changes everything being able to be mobile again.

I saw a friend yesterday with a baby and realised afterwards I just naturally sat on the floor and played with her. I wouldn't have done that last year ("oh I wouldn't be able to get up haha"). Also I'm doing this home fitness programme and just not having so much stomach means I can move and bend in ways I just couldn't a year ago....

I'm still 6 stone overweight which is still shocking really when you think of how much most people have to lose (and even the 5st to lose thread would be starting less than where I am now 😬) but my whole body feels different to how it was. I dot feel as fat as I am now 😂. I can only hope it just continues to get better!

Hottoffeesauce · 08/08/2025 09:29

I started trying to lose weight four years ago with a top weight of 21.12lb. Managed to lose just over 2st in three and an half years and then stalled. So began MJ at the end of January and I’m so happy! I don’t have an overall target weight in mind, I just take it a day at a time.

AlicesMum2025 · 08/08/2025 09:49

Hi all, just popping in to give an update on the gym if anyone's interested.

I went on Monday, Wednesday and today (Friday) and it's been good. The gym is mostly weights based and I've been experimenting with how much I can lift or push. Today I did one exercise with 7.5kg in each hand! I've lost almost 20kg now so my goal is to be able to do one exercise with 20kg by the end of August.

I've really been enjoying it. The trainers are very accommodating, always providing me with alternative exercises if there's one I can't do. My weight has given me one bad knee and the inability to get up and down from the floor. I'm looking forward to when that changes, and hope that adding the gym alongside MJ will make it happen.

I took it easy on Monday as it was my first session but I pushed myself on Wednesday and today. No point in paying all this money not to work hard 🤷‍♀️. I had sore traps on Wednesday but I was fine the next day. Today I really felt the burn in my biceps so I expect to not be able to lift anything later. What a great excuse to have DH make dinner 🤣

I've realised though that I am going to have to add some cardio if I want to get fit, not just strong. I think the best thing for me would be swimming as it's low impact for my knee. I went on a tour of my local leisure centre and they have steps into the pool so I don't have to worry about not being able to get in and out using the ladder. The thought of having to wear a swimming costume makes me go cold 🙈

Billybingbong · 08/08/2025 10:04

Happy anniversary @GnomeDePlume . 34 years, how fab. Its our 30th next month, so we're not far behind you 🎉🍾

Fffreeeeezing · 08/08/2025 10:13

So for the first time since starting I have put on, a lb! Annoying because there isn't any reason for it 🤬
I ate a pizza last Sunday but I can't imagine that could make a difference (I included it in my daily calorie allowance)
Have just done my 5th dose of my second 7.5 pen and got 7ml (8.75 dose I think) and start my 10 pen next week.

grrrr I'm so annoyed, not helped by my dog eating my glasses whist I was in the shower, I didn't want to buy new glasses until I had a thinner face! Friday is not going well so far

Billybingbong · 08/08/2025 10:19

Hello @Hottoffeesauce . Welcome to the most friendly and supportive thread. It's lovely to be among folk who truly understand

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden . Your camping trip sounds wonderful. It's such a lovely feeling when we discover we can suddenly do those little things that others just take for granted.

@AlicesMum2025 its lovely to hear you're enjoying the gym, and sounds like you've got some good instructors. Good luck with the swimming. Ive decided I'm going to start swimming once the school holidays are over. We live in a seaside tourist area, and the 2 closest pools are on holiday parks, so a bit of a no go zone for locals just now!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 08/08/2025 10:24

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden with regard to what everyone is eating - I'm not counting calories. I'm eating almost what I used to eat, but much less of it. My portion sizes are a good deal smaller.

When I say that I'm eating what I used to, I've always cooked from scratch. But in the past, I've had huge helpings of everything, and large quantities of puddings and cakes and crisps. They've gone.

I do sometimes eat them, but just a small quantity, and not very often. I have a weakness for ice cream, and eat one every day.

I'm trying to be realistic and just enjoy what I used to, minus the large portions and the additional evening grazing

If I hit a plateau, I do OMAD for a few days, and that kick-starts everything again.

Billybingbong · 08/08/2025 10:36

Week 18, and after a couple of slow weeks, I've lost 4lb. Im delighted because it also means I've hit a few of my mini targets

*3 1/2st off
*50lb off

  • I've dropped into the next stone bracket *15% off my starting weight *10 points off my BMI (started at 56, now 46)

SW 22st 8lb
CW 18st 13lb
GW 11st 4lb

My next target is 4st off. 5lb to go, and I'm hoping I can do it before I go on holiday in 3 weeks 🤞

Have a great week everyone, hope you all enjoy the heatwave that's supposedly on the way

PearlsPearl · 08/08/2025 10:54

"Literally changes everything being able to be mobile again." yesss @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I was so happy to read your camping update. I am someone who couldn't walk 5 mins without a sit down break and 15 mins absolute MAX sweating and uncomfortable, now I'm walking the dogs 20-25 mins often without stopping and feel fine. Life changing, being mobile again.

@AlicesMum2025 well done, I’m really pleased to read your updates. Cardio is important too but hard work. I go to aqua/swim twice a week and have done for a year. It still feels horrible walking from the changing rooms to the pool, but I've done it so consistently now I just don't really care as much. I just aim to get in the water, don't look at anyones faces (makes me think they're not looking at me!) and then feel the pleasure of being in the pool. I also wear a costume with a short skirt which I know is probably daft but I HATE the top of my thighs more than life itself.

I’m not calorie counting either. OMAD most days to align with DH/DS sitting down to eat. I graze on raspberries (insane for fibre 💩) and drink lots.

@AlicesMum2025 That sounds fab. Is it a personal trainer? Or group sessions? I'm doing one at home I video and get feedback on but it's low level (I'm at 3kg weights for some things and 2kg for others) but I'm surprising myself at how much I'm enjoying it!

It's group sessions. About 12 people but spilt into two groups with two trainers so you do get individual attention. It's expensive so I'm having to make sacrifices to afford it, but it's cheaper than 1:1 training.

I was going to do home workouts originally but I just always said to myself 'I'll do it later' and then later never came. I need the accountability to have to do it at a certain time.

It's great that you're enjoying it. Keep it up and I'm sure you'll be able to do 5kg in a few months). 🤜🤛

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/08/2025 13:10

That does sound fab!

Yes I need accountability too - I've tried on my own and I just don't do it. I'm paying to be part of a group (rebelfit). Each day there's a workout (weights/stretches or a rest day) and people can upload their videos for comment. I wasn't keen videoing myself initially but I'm rolling with it as I wouldn't afford/fit gym into life currently (but asking about it as maybe I could sometime in my future) and having the personal feedback or being told when to go up weights and being able to ask questions has helped so much. I'm only a couple of months in but it's become routine and having the accountability has been the difference for my brain too!

I do wonder if I'd do a real life place sometime.

Lovely and sunny with a warm breeze up in Yorkshire. It's not oft its warmer up here than down your end. We have relatives in the Brighton area, and we're always being told how much warmer it is down there

Doggymummar · 08/08/2025 15:48

Im just always cold and our living room is a cold room. My oh went to visit his sister and he did have a sweatshirt on tho. It's supposed to warm up next week

The group sessions sound great. I have PT partner sessions with my DH. I find the accountability of have sessions booked in so helpful, as without that I just never get around to going.

If you are after some knee specific exercises then I recommend trying the NHS Pilates Video for knee issues - I've used it before when I'd tweaked my knee and it really helped

It sounds like it's working well. I don't think I'd be keen to film myself either. I must look a right state, sweating like a monster, bright red face, squeezed into lycra, but I try not to think about it. But seeing it on video is a whole other ball game.

The only time I can fit the gym in consistently is 7am but I'm not a morning person so it's been tough this week. It'll be easier once I get used to getting up earlier 🤞
