Happy 1st birthday to us all - somewhere in this month we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

the amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+

in a year or for some 11-11.5mths - I was middle of August - we have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

some are at goal - and working out how to maintain

some nearing it

some still have weight they want to lose

Some have stopped for cost / various reasons and blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

but ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

maybe if brave - post your before and after pics to see how far we have come in a year

1st post on this new thread, I'm still here, trying to maintain but also trying to lose another couple pounds.. down to 11.3 now, so 102lb down which is nice.. bmi sitting at 22.5 .

Does anyone use that nutrition geeks collegen glow up? Is it worth it? Is it any good? Just started with the nivea firming lotion in replace of my normal moisturiser to see if it makes my skin any different, I just feel a bit saggy and a bit wrinkly lately so thinking if all this stuff is bollox or actually helps.

So if anyone uses it can you tell me if it made a difference? Thanks.

FurForksSake · 11/08/2025 18:34

I’d also be interested to know about collagen, I’ve not bothered but I’m wondering…

owlyboo · 11/08/2025 18:46

Well done on your anniversaries and achievements!

@morbidcuriosityi haven’t but I did about 2 months ago start religiously applying a high intensity moisturiser at least once a day and I’ve noticed that my skin appears much less saggy. Definitely seems to have helped my thighs / upper arms. You might already be super good at doing it but I was crap and it’s helped so much!

MabelSpan · 11/08/2025 19:57

@morbidcuriosity I take collagen, among many other pills, potions and lotions and have tried Nutrition Geeks Glow Up (didnt like the taste), however, I prefer a broader range of collagen types, and I have now settled on Revive Naturals from Amazon
Multi Collagen Protein Powder 400g - Types I, II, III, V & X - Hydrolyzed Grass Fed Bovine, Wild Caught Fish, & Free-Range Chicken & Eggshell Collagen (1 Month Supply) : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

Whether it works or not I couldnt say for sure as I take many other things too, that said, I am free of any lines on my face (I am 56), so something is working!😉

morbidcuriosity · 11/08/2025 20:09

I've ordered it, I'll give it a go see what it's like.. I'm early 40s so gotta start looking after the wrinkles etc now..
I'm also looking into surgery for next year if I can keep the weight off.. Nords in Lithuania is where I'm thinking of going, just saving the pennies now for it.. can't afford UK prices..

MabelSpan · 11/08/2025 20:26

Sorry @morbidcuriosity I meant to say wow to your huge loss but got distracted! That really is amazing. What are you looking to have done? I would love to have so many bits lifted and tucked away!

morbidcuriosity · 11/08/2025 20:44

Thank you @MabelSpan . I want monsplasty, tummy tuck and breast lift. Can do them all together.. would later need thighs and arms but that can wait.. think I'm looking at total coverage of about 8 to 10k. Which I'm happy doing, maybe Jan Feb next year I think..

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/08/2025 22:57

@@20bloodypounds I hope so. As it’s something that I could never do

Had my follow up with my hip consultant, I now have a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in my left hip, my good hip?! And a tear and a cyst in my right hip that do need surgery. Hurrah insurance have agreed for my referral to see the professor who has previously operated on me privately. So not good news, but hopefully some way forward. I ate a mini magnum afterwards and I deserved it.

lookathatbookcase · 12/08/2025 18:16

Slightly sideways question, but is anyone here on HRT? I'm exploring options with my GP, and wondering how oral medication is going to work with the slower absorption we have on MJ. I said to my GP that I'd be extra mindful in taking pills, be sure to take them on as empty a stomach as possible.

Also @FurForksSake yes, extra dry mouth atm - presumed it was the heat but also prob not drinking as much water as I should be.

MabelSpan · 12/08/2025 18:18

@lookathatbookcase I am on HRT, Oestrogel, rubed into my arms and utrogestan, which I take vaginally. I also have testogel but I have stopped that currently as I dont think it made much diffference. So none of mine are taken orally.

PoemsForTea · 12/08/2025 18:51

@lookathatbookcaseI am on hrt - 50mg Evorel patches and I have a mirena for the progesterone.
Not sure it does much anymore for my brain fog and anxiety but I'm also not sure I want to increase the dose!
I had appointment with nurse today for an annual health condition check. Never had one if them before?! She was suitably Impressed- had actually heard of and knew about MJ.
She is going to speak to the doc on Friday about coming off of my BP medication. It's dropped already from 10mg to 5mg Amlodipine and my bp is amazing so fingers crossed.
She did full bloods, but I hadn't taken a wee sample so need to drop one in.
Is it weird to look forward to blood test results?!

PoemsForTea · 12/08/2025 18:58

@FurForksSakeAll hail the mini magnum! 😘

Azuresky68 · 12/08/2025 19:07

@FurForksSake all the very best and fingers crossed for you x

Azuresky68 · 12/08/2025 19:10

@MabelSpan I dont like the Nutrition Geeks Collagen powder either...though it was my imagination.

FurForksSake · 12/08/2025 19:38

PoemsForTea · 12/08/2025 18:58

@FurForksSakeAll hail the mini magnum! 😘

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/08/2025 20:55

Sounds good you have private insurance @FurForksSake

sorry no @lookathatbookcasebur I do take tablets and never had an issue with them

@PoemsForTea I’m looking forward to see if my levels go up with my blood test

@PoemsForTea @Blondeshavemorefun @MabelSpan - thanks all, super useful (and yes, I'd kind of forgotten I've taken painkiller tablets whilst being on MJ without thinking about it).

@FurForksSake Mini-Twisters! Honestly a delight.

Azuresky68 · 13/08/2025 16:38

Hi all. Just checking in . Hope everyone is well. I had friends to stay for 4 days..one is naturally tall and slim but takes medication for thyroid...she can eat what she wants including ice cream and chocolate. The other friend started MJ at the same time as me. She has lost 3 stone but has another stone or 2 to lose.
She says she is happy with the weight she is which is great. She can have 1 alcoholic drink, one cake and one ice cream. I cant really stop at one. She is on 7.5 and has never been higher. After a weekend where we ate 'healthy' apart from 2 slices cake, wine and 1 ice cream, she lost 1.5 pounds and I gained a couple! This was due to alcohol and carb intake (it was self restricted)
Was interesting to compare and talk about our weight and what we ate.
On Sunday I used my 10 mg pen to inject 15 mg and haven't noticed side effects and am still able to eat. I dont even feel suppression is huge.
I have a 7.5 pen to use up so planning on doing double dose so I am on 15. My new pen in waiting is 12.5
At the moment I am staying around 8 stone 10 - 12
On 15 mg I felt SO tired on jab day and a bit flat since the jab..
My goal is to stay between 8 stone 6 and 8 stone 8....currently feels a big challenge.
BUT I am seeing that I have maintained around 8 stone 10 and 12 since February. However that's on a high dose.

Not sure about going down to lower doses for a while. Time will tell!

20bloodypounds · 13/08/2025 19:15

@PoemsForTea I found that coming off amlodipine completely resulted in my bp being quite unstable - low then high, low then high (I have a bp monitor at home). I then took a half tablet, and bp was both low and stable. I asked GP for a 2.5mg dose but there isn't one - apparently it's not clinically effective. Yet in my body it is (much like we find that we all have different tolerences and reactions to MJ). So I'm still prescribed the 5mg dose, and I still break it in half.

That's very useful to know, thankyou!! I don't have any symptoms from the 5mg so am happy to park there if I need to.

PoemsForTea · 13/08/2025 19:29

I had a weird anxiety that having reversed the pre diabetes - march blood test - it would go back up.
Well ... drumroll please... I'm so happy 😊

@PoemsForTeaand @20bloodypounds interesting about amlopodine I am on 10 mg and tried 5 mg after discussion with my doctor but my BP went up again. Did you get any side effects with amlopodine?
I need to have that test done again...Last August mine was 10% although I never got to see the details. Must follow up with my doctor.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/08/2025 10:16

Sorry for gain @Azuresky68 but weird your friend lost

Hello, just popping in to see how everyone is doing, as I'm just coming up to 1 year since I joined you all and started on my life changing MJ adventure. Hats off to @Blondeshavemorefun for keeping the threads going, that in itself is impressive.

I hit goal in January, titrated down and then went cold turkey in March. I am still at goal weight, varies by a pound or two up and down each week, but essentially I am the same weight I was in January. I've shrunk some more though. I was a size 12 in January and I'm now a size 10. As a mid-50s old git, I'm pleased to say that there is definitely skin tightening and general toning that is ongoing, which I'm very relieved about.

Anyhow, huge congratulations to being the losers that we all are!! 🌟💐💫🏆🎉🎈
