Happy 1st birthday to us all - somewhere in this month we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

the amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+

in a year or for some 11-11.5mths - I was middle of August - we have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health

some are at goal - and working out how to maintain

some nearing it

some still have weight they want to lose

Some have stopped for cost / various reasons and blowing baby dust your way to those who are ttc

but ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

maybe if brave - post your before and after pics to see how far we have come in a year

Wee and weigh but not jabbed yet. 8st9. So 2lbs to target, I’m not sure how I feel about maintaining. It feels scarier to try and maintain than to lose? I think I’ll get there in the next 2-3 weeks and then I will have to work out maintenance calories and what it looks like.

im out of bed for the first time since Tuesday, I’ve had a shower and washed my hair, my hip is very stiff and achy but that’s to be expected. I think it feels better than before, but I’ve got to be really slow for the next few days to try and keep the steroids working and give myself the best chance of it improving.

@owlybooyou look fab!! I might put some shorts on and take some photos next week but I fear my thighs are a bit melted. Yours look great!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/08/2025 10:11

@FurForksSakemine were very wobbly at the top when I first reached goal but they are slowly firming up a little. Still jiggly but better!

thanks for the nice comments ☺️

Morning everyone, happy weekend ! Hope you’re feeling better @Azuresky68 and @FurForksSake , you’ve had a tough week with pain. Fab photos @Blondeshavemorefun , hope your holiday is fab😁
tops pf my legs are the wrinkliest, saggiest looking things (well my boobs and upper arms do match🙈), I wore slightly longer shorts to hide them on holiday.
my weigh day is today and I’m 8st 3 1/2lb, 3/4 lb down from last week so pleased with that and a continued downwards trend. Still on 15mg, and still starving frequently 😛 did an up to date TDEE and I’m supposed to be on 750 calories now!! But continuing with my 830/850 for the last couple of pounds.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2025 09:31

Well done @Slimhopes on loss

750c I could cry for you ((hugs))

surely someone can’t live off that daily and sounds not if you are starving 🙀😢

Holidays are to be enjoyed @Blondeshavemorefun and any weight will come off again when you’re back. I didn’t put on as much as I thought I would. And it’s so good having a break!
i need to get better at protein with my low calories to fill me up, have been having a boiled egg most days and my protein yogurt but not much else with protein and that would help. I’m veggie though so meat not an option. Certainly looking forward to maintenance calories 😅

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2025 09:58

I do feel I live like a queen on my 1800 a day and was losing weight still on them

but I am not cc on holiday so be interesting what happens once home

I am eating what I want but stop when full so left1/2 a plate of Chinese last night

this time last year I would have eaten whole plate and had a second so guess that’s good

I’ll be interested to see how you are when you get back, very envious of the 1800, you are doing so so well!!

we had domino’s last night. I had four pieces, which felt very indulgent and I can’t say I enjoyed it that much.

WorriedRelative · 09/08/2025 13:54

Looking fantastic @Blondeshavemorefunand @owlyboo

@FurForksSake DH and I ordered a Dominos for the first time in over a year. Ended up throwing half of it away. It just didn't taste nice at all (DH also on Monjaro).

Everyone's looking fab! Hope you're all having a lovely time in the sun in new shorts and swimwear :)

I had a chat with the Asda pharmacist when I picked up my latest round earlier in the week - she took my blood pressure (something they offer for all MJ patients) and she was really enthusiastic about it all, saying how great it was that MJ helped to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and more :) :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2025 20:05

What I don’t understand is how some weeks I would sts but now having extra 600 I was still losing lb a week

@Blondeshavemorefun

" I am eating what I want but stop when full so left1/2 a plate of Chinese last night

"

Is that not such a part of this process. Helped by MJ - over the last year we have learnt (most of the time) to recognise the feeling of being full. And to stop.

I was out for lunch today, had buttery prawns to start with a salad, and had one quarter piece of toast - not in a mean way, but I now know I do not need those other three quarters. Then I had seabass and broccoli and just a couple of potatoes. Enough to appreciate the taste of them, but I didn't need to finish the plate of potatoes.

I was brought up to finish everything on my plate, and it's hard to leave things - both from the family pattern, and from a food waste perspective. I have started to realise that I get so much more pleasure from eating the first 5 chips than I do from eating any of the others (so why mindlessly munch until the end?). And that one mouthful of custard donut can be exactly enough (when the full thing can be nauseating).

Last week a friend said 'you eat like a sparrow'.Well, yes, I am a sparrow! and an old sparrow (obviously not an actual sparrow, they don't often have mn accounts). I have a small, slim hipped frame. A 500 calorie cinnamon bun is 40% of my TDEE. If I was several inches taller and several years younger and more active, the cinnamon bun might be 20% of my TDEE.

And to continue the bird analogy... on my sparrow frame I was like one of those fast-bred chickens where they put on weight but if they are kept beyond their chicken life, their bones and their legs stop being able to support their body weight.

Hi everyone!

Its my 1 year anniversary on MJ today.
52 weeks of counting cals, fibre, protein and eating 30 plants a week. My diet has never been so good!

Today I will have my 53rd jab, at the heady height of 4.66mg! I have actually decreased my dose recently from 4.83mg, as its dawned on me that I have never really felt suppression, I have always eaten a full meal and hit my calorie target without a struggle, so I figured as long as the food noise stays away I might as well see how low I can go and still lose weight.

Here are my stats for my first year on MJ
SW - 20st 3lbs, Aug 24
CW - 14st 3.4lbs, Aug 25
Loss over a year - 5 stone 13.6lbs
Ave wkly loss - 1.6lbs
BMI start - 41.8
BMI today - 29.2
% Body weight lost - 30%
Calorie intake - 1600 per day, calculated over the week.

Inches lost
12" off tummy
12" off hips
7" off waist
6" off thigh
9.5" off bust
8" off under bust

I have no regrets about my decision to start MJ. It was hard at the beginning due to side effects of extreme low mood and tiredness. The tiredness slowly went and the low mood has got better but I am still a joyless Eeyore, Tigger has left the building. I hope to get my Tigger back one day and to feel happiness, joy and delight again. But I would rather this than weigh 20 stone+ again.

I have some saggy skin on my upper arms, lower tummy and thighs, but its not as bad as it could be, and I think it will be ok over time.

I hope to reach my goal in the next 6-12 months. I have just 2 stone 10.6lbs to go, but the goal may change up or down, depending on how I look, loose skin and whether my tummy will ever shrink enough!

Thanks to @Blondeshavemorefun for keeping this thread alive and to all of you for still being here after all this time, sharing your experiences, highs and lows, NSVs and generally being a fab supportive bunch.

poppym12 · 11/08/2025 13:21

Just checked the date and realised it's my anniversary today too @MabelSpan!

I started at 109.3kg and this morning I was 75.65 kg. 75 was my original target but I need to get to around 73 for the BMI thingy (5'8).

I have had suppression on some doses, at least for the first part of the week but I've also been calorie counting. I average 1200 per day (very sedentary lifestyle).

I was a size 20 but am now in mainly 14s which are quite loose but that's mostly what I've got in my wardrobe and I don't want to spend any more on clothes until I've been able to maintain for at least 3 months.

20bloodypounds · 11/08/2025 14:22

@MabelSpan @poppym12 Happy anniversay to you both - what amazing progress. MJ really is wonderful in enabling us to make these changes, I've never been so consistant in losing and maintaining, and like MabelSpan my diet has never been so healthy.

FurForksSake · 11/08/2025 14:52

Great catch ups! Well done on the anniversaries.

FurForksSake · 11/08/2025 14:54

Is anyone else struggling with dry mouth? I’m sure it wasn’t an issue in the start but the last few months it’s for worse and worse. I’ve ordered some strips that apparently help at night.

MabelSpan · 11/08/2025 15:54

Happy anniversary @PoemsForTea and a big well done!

Thank you @20bloodypounds the eating well bit is the most enjoyable part for me, I really do like eating like this and now the self destructive food noise is off, I can!

Yes! @FurForksSake I have suffered with a dry mouth on and off from the start, it seems to be worse on completely random days and for no apparent reason, it drives me mad! Do let me know if the strips work, I cant breathe through my nose so night times can be really horrid.

MabelSpan · 11/08/2025 16:29

Oooh they look good, thanks for the link. I hope they work for you, if they do, I will be buying some!
