Well my goodness. Thread 7. Warriors, we are 6 months in! How life has changed.

To all of you who have made it: many, many congratulations and good luck with the continued maintenance. To the rest of the team still climbing that mountain: we got this, let’s bloody go!!

SW 103.9kg / 16.4 stone
CW 73.4kg / 11.6 stone
TW 72.2kg / 11.4 stone (top end healthy BMI)
Dream weight 68kg / 10.7 stone

Reeeeeeally want to get to target weight before holiday in 10 days time so time really is ticking now! Feel like one of the Lionesses: must keep my cool, bang it in the back of the net and get the job done.

You are all absolutely amazing and the continued support on this group is incredible.

Onwards and downwards! Godspeed for thread 7! xx

P.S. have clearly plagiarised some phrases from some of you good people. Hope you don’t mind: feel they’re part of our thing as a group now so please take it as flattery!

@WoolerOwl people are weird! Over the weekend I caught a family member sharing the ‘before’ pictures of ‘fat me’. They were mortified to be caught talking behind my back. 😂

@CoolLimeSheep hope they get to the bottom of whatever’s going on. Doesn’t sound very fun for you.

Back up to 71.5kg this morning. This final stone will certainly be a challenge.

How very rude of them, @Mounjaroday ! It’s envy deep down, for sure, but it amazes me that people have no behaviour filter when it comes to being nosy about other people’s bodies.

In complete contrast, a colleague yesterday approached me and very tentatively asked if she could give me some feedback, and that she hoped it wasn’t the wrong thing to say, but … I looked fantastic and healthy and she’d noticed I’d lost weight and she just wanted to tell me. That kind of feedback is fine, and so very different from the snide or nosy people.

PurpleCoo · 22/09/2025 20:14

So I did Snowdon today! I ended up doing Pyg up and Miners down. The scenery was stunning and the weather was perfect. Sunny but not too hot. I didn't find it too difficult, all those squats and lunges at body pump are definitely paying off. I imagine carrying about 25kg less up a mountain also makes it a lot easier! I pranced up 😂

Interesting to read the comments on goal weight again. I thought I might stick at 70kg, which I thought might be about right as it's 4kg less than my 'usual' light weight. However, I must be close to that now (haven't been able to weigh as on night 12 of travels, so guessing) and someone took action shots of my clambering down the mountain with my dog, and there is definite signs of my belly podging a bit, even though trousers were quite loose around the waist, my arms look as though they could be slimmer and I still look like I have a bit of a double chin when photographed from below. But I was wearing the same top I wore in my 'pre weight loss' picture and I look a million times better, but not sure how much I need to lose to get rid of these last podgy bits. Perhaps another 5kg. It doesn't feel urgent though, it just means I will keep doing what I doing for a bit longer.

Mounjaroday · 22/09/2025 21:37

Amazing @PurpleCoo!!! Very impressive. How do you feel?!

OP posts:
usedtobeaylis · 22/09/2025 22:15

@PurpleCoo that sounds brilliant. Well done!

Does anyone ever feel as if they haven't lost a thing? I'm sure I've felt like this before. I think I'm getting pre-menstrual but I'm feeling like I'm still carrying every one of those 51lb and I feel really jiggly/pudgy as well. There's a ring of fat above the waistband of my running leggings suddenly which isn't helping! I just feel really bleh. This is some rollercoaster.

laundryhamper · 22/09/2025 23:39

@skyscrapersinging
I did not know about the BP issue with MJ.
My BP was low before (have had fainting episodes) so that’s a worry.

The Juniper scales are great- I use the app to log my weight every week, even though I cancelled my subscription with them months ago I am still able to use the app to track my weight and measurements.

Good to know. I only recently realised how expensive Juniper was/is compared to everyone else. Will be switching away shortly but will be handy to use the scales still.

Mounjaroday · 22/09/2025 23:57

@usedtobeaylis Yes! Was going to post the same but was worried! Yes I do. Feel very fat today, like I used to feel. Think maybe it’s realising I have a stupid stone to lose still.

Also ancient insecurities creeping in. My build is ‘wide’ and I know that for a fact because someone told me … in 2005. Do I look oddly wide? God, I do! Or do I?! It’s my torso. It’s naturally thick. Or maybe I look athletic? No, that can’t be right either.

This is wild! 🤪

Anyone else having similar stupid thoughts in their head?

So far lost about 26% of myself.

Still 3kg off TW but wondering whether I should stop now (by stop I mean find dose that keeps me where I am, if possible).

After months of nobody noticing/saying anything, nosy parkers are coming out of the woodwork left right and centre. I know other school mums and dads have been talking. Apparently they think that two of us are taking something and they think it makes us look haggard and much older. Getting a lot of snide remarks and pointed looks and questions. I think it’s none of their business how or why I lost the weight, but the real reason (which I don’t want to say in the playground) was because I was diagnosed with a very serious health ailment earlier this year and was told I had to lose weight asap before having surgery. Losing 26% has had a very significant (positive) effect on my health issues so far and the doctors are really pleased.

CoolLimeSheep · 23/09/2025 00:06

@Mounjaroday thanks and your catching up with us is defo coming up the the last weight even tho im not quite there you kinda want it off.
@PurpleCoo amazing you smashed it i heard pyg track is really hard so would you recommend and you took a dog amazeballs.
On the target weight im still struggling myself feel happy but still not at right bmi I've had gym review amd had a discussion and I know in my head bmis outdated but she and even customers have said you look really good but dont take it too far and I can see there point in some way( apparently for my height 7 stone 10 to 10 stone 5) my waist is 37 inches but i know some of it is excess skin. @usedtobeaylis i felt that for such a long time on my journey its like my brain took so long to actually see ive been on this journey for 14 months and I can honestly say for a long while it didn't sink in so hope it does soon youve done amazing

CoolLimeSheep · 23/09/2025 00:13

@laundryhamper thats horrible to experience idiots they are ignore them. Some people are just vile. It's so hard I struggle with people's opinions and take it to heart but do what's right for you and together I think we can make sure we build each other up as this is a safe place for us. And massive well done your health is better

Oh my god that's just horrible. Why do people behave like this, I can't imagine hanging around with school parents and talking about someone else like that. Awful people.

SpiralSister · 23/09/2025 09:55

So dreadful all the remarks. So sorry. It’s baffling how people imagine other people’s health is their business, and more than that, up for their judgement.

I do fantasise that the next time I am told not to lose any more because of my imagined gaunt and haggard appearance (oh, do fuck off) I’ll say ‘it’s great not being fat, I heartily recommend it to you!’

SpiralSister · 23/09/2025 09:57

People really don’t like fat people, you know. I mean, really, really despise us. And especially when we are no longer fat. That really is taking the piss in their minds, and we need taking down a peg, quick sharp.

laundryhamper · 23/09/2025 10:25

@SpiralSister I think anyone who has lost weight and is healthier as a result (and not using up so much NHS resource and statutory sick pay) should be lionised. But the playground talk round here is bitchy because they think GLP-1 is “cheating” and just as much a sign of weakness as eating in the first place.

Yeah, I had to look it up. It’s usually listed as one of the common side effects, but just not in the “top ten” (think nausea/sulphur burps etc). Mine certainly lower, could be weight loss related as well as the drug itself.

SpiralSister · 23/09/2025 12:40

Yep, @laundryhamper - if we’re going have the brass balls to lose the weight, we’d better suffer whilst doing it.

Absolute tools.

I bought a lovely pair of black trousers from Vinted in a size 14 thinking they would probably be too small -

And I was right, they don't go near me 😂 It's beyond a joke now, 51lbs down and no change in size (in women's sizing anyway) 😂 But instead of despairing I'm trying to find them in the bigger size because they really are lovely, and I will keep the smaller ones for another day.

Has anyone felt any issue with their teeth on Mounjaro? I don't have the best of teeth in all honesty but I've feel feeling quite tender in all of them, it's a really strange feeling. I don't know whether it's the Mounjaro or I had a head knock a few days ago and wondering if it clenched my teeth together and that's what I'm feeling. Is that even possible?

SpiralSister · 24/09/2025 11:25

I just can’t fathom this, @usedtobeaylis - the size thing I mean. It must be so frustrating. Did you do your measurements at any stage? Were you wearing very loose garments originally? I know I believed I was an 18-20 before, but that was in my own clothes which were all loose, stretchy etc. I would have struggled with a fitted garment in an 18 tbh.

Can’t help with the teeth, sorry!

SpiralSister · 24/09/2025 11:33

10.10 on scales this morning, which is one pound away from healthy BMI. It’s not weigh in day though, and I’m sure the scale demons will fuck it up later!

Also, going away on Sunday for an incredibly overdue holiday. For various reasons connected with elderly family members, I haven’t been abroad for 6 years for a proper holiday. I notice that previously I would have been absolutely determined to rip the arse out of it and eat and drink to wild excess. Meh. Just want to swim, read and sleep. That’ll do. I’m sure they’ll be a few extra glasses of rose and some tapas along the way though!

I didn't take measurements and I wish I had! I can see the difference and I've definitely sized down in men's clothes. I don't know if I was unknowingly buying very generously sized women's clothes before and now that I'm trying to buy nicer stuff I'm finding it's smaller made than the cheaper stuff - I think this is probably the most likely explanation because I wasn't spending a lot of money on clothes when I was so big and not feeling good about myself, so I was probably veering towards stretchy, shapeless clothes. I remind myself of my mum actually, one time we all went on holiday and she was wearing an absolute bag of a suit, it was so shapeless on her, and then she borrowed a fitted top from my auntie and looked so much better. I've probably been wearing my version of the bag suit for a long, long time.

But also I have lost the weight proportionately so I don't know if that's also it - it's not like I'm losing it all from one section making it easier to lose sizes on either the top or the bottom, it's clearly coming off everywhere (but slowly at this point). I will get there and I'm not deluding myself about having lost weight, I definitely have!

laundryhamper · 24/09/2025 17:27

@usedtobeaylis
I too have lost about 50lb-ish. For the first 45 of it I didn’t notice much difference in sizes and virtually nobody seemed to notice. I was still wearing size 16 stuff on holiday in late July.

But in the last month there was been a definite change. A lot has come off round the middle and have gone from 34in waist to 30in. Now the size 16 stuff is falling off me and even some size 14 is too big. I have gone from feeling “less fat” to “almost thin”.
Maybe same will happen to you??

That's really interesting and I'm glad to read I'm not alone! I've read up a bit this afternoon and losing weight without dropping sizes can apparently be down to losing internal fat, and while it can be visible it doesn't necessarily result in a change in proportions or sizing, especially if you're building muscle which I like to think I am. I might try and find somewhere that has one of those body scanners.

It doesn't worry me as I am benefiting in so many ways from the weight loss but it would be really really nice to finally be able to browse the 14s in the charity shop 😁

Mounjaroday · 24/09/2025 22:34

Well weigh-in day yesterday was very frustrating.
No change. I think I need to reduce my calories as the weight’s just not shifting. If I have more than 1200 calories nothing happens.

Might reduce to 800 cals for a couple of weeks and remove carbs to try and force the weight off. Is that bad?

Haven’t done an NSV for a while. On the tube today and my bottom easily fits in the little seats, with room to spare. Sad really, that sitting comfortably is a total novelty.

Feeling glum. Run tomorrow.
