Well my goodness. Thread 7. Warriors, we are 6 months in! How life has changed.

To all of you who have made it: many, many congratulations and good luck with the continued maintenance. To the rest of the team still climbing that mountain: we got this, let’s bloody go!!

SW 103.9kg / 16.4 stone
CW 73.4kg / 11.6 stone
TW 72.2kg / 11.4 stone (top end healthy BMI)
Dream weight 68kg / 10.7 stone

Reeeeeeally want to get to target weight before holiday in 10 days time so time really is ticking now! Feel like one of the Lionesses: must keep my cool, bang it in the back of the net and get the job done.

You are all absolutely amazing and the continued support on this group is incredible.

Onwards and downwards! Godspeed for thread 7! xx

P.S. have clearly plagiarised some phrases from some of you good people. Hope you don’t mind: feel they’re part of our thing as a group now so please take it as flattery!

@Mounjaroday Glad you had a brilliant time! If you can't enjoy yourself and relax on holiday then when can you?!

CoolLimeSheep · 19/08/2025 13:18

Glad you had a good time @Mounjaroday
@Zibb It is strange how weight fluctuates with what you put in drives me barmy at times.
@skyscrapersinging congratulations for you kid getting into oxbridge 👏 amazing acheivement.

On mine med express still not sent my order or even prescribed it. My local chemist has some in so looks like im going have buy another pen this week as not sure when medexpress will pull there finger out Not what I wanted pay out just before my holiday on monday. Surely if they already knew about the news going to be coming out they would of prepared for it.
Working alot of hours this week so wont be on as much. So to everyone keep going strong and hope you have a fantastic week🙂

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 14:37

Has anyone have a list of what new prices will be?
im completely lost. My provider messed up. Im not going to get my new pen at the end of the week as planned. Which is going to leave me with a nice 2 weeks gap with no pen 🤪🤪
They gave me the new price of £290!!
Im not even sure how this fare compare to others now….

I haven’t lost that much compare to most of you and probably will have another year before reaching my TW.
Im at loss at what to do.

New prices vary a lot by pharmacy and I don't think many places have them set in stone yet. There are rebates available to large scale buyers and negotiations ongoing between pharmacies and Lilly.

MMP, for example, currently charge £145 for 15mg and that will go up to £271 in September. MMP are consistently the cheapest so it's not looking good for other places.

If you are able to, have a look here - https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/ and try ordering with a new provider. I don't recommend Bolt (terrible service, delays of 2+ weeks even before the price increases) or Curate (require a video consultation and no dates available until mid-September).

Lots of places are out of stock or only accepting orders from existing customers. You could try a lower dose just to tide you over or you might be stuck ordering from somewhere more expensive.

Cloud, Superdrug, and Cuva might be worth looking at.

Who is your current provider and what dose was £290. If that’s for 15mg then it’s probably not hugely far off where things will land when it’s all settled.

CoolLimeSheep · 19/08/2025 15:06

@MoveOverToTheSea do you know if your local pharmacy's do it. I found out today ours has them in stock and they said there 10mg is 175 which is cheaper than med express by about 15 pound till obviously the 1st sept.
Hope that helps
Wish id not ordered with med express friday now as looks like I need get one from local pharmacy while waiting for medexpress or do you think I can cancel my order with medexpress?

SpiralSister · 19/08/2025 16:03

This is all absolutely infuriating, isn’t it? The poor users scurrying around like blue arsed flies, worried sick (some of them) about how to afford the next one, potentially watching all their hard work and money going up in smoke because they now won’t be able to do a maintenance dose. All, all of it, was avoidable. Well, perhaps not the increases themselves, but the faux shock and lack of planning by the pharmacies and especially the producer, leading to panic buying and oos.

DH works in Pharma, and the entire company have been detailed to look at what the mad orange one’s tariffs might mean for MONTHS. As have all the Pharma companies. It is shameful.

SpiralSister · 19/08/2025 16:06

In other news, my pharmacy have updated that they are still working on new prices; they are prioritising existing customers; and that no one is allowed to stockpile because it isn’t fair.

Impressed. Edited to say impressed by the non stockpiling bit!

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 16:23

£290 is for the 7.5mg @MynameisJune
Current price is £144….

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 16:25

@Zibb thank you.
im going to have a look and see if I can sort something out before I leave. I could have dine wo the stress of looking for a new provider in the middle of the price increase and its shambles’s!

Zibb · 19/08/2025 16:27

@SpiralSister Yes, the whole thing is crazy. 2 weeks notice of massive price increases, of course it's going to lead to panic buying and stock piling. There was already a shortage of the higher doses as well. It's been handled so badly.

I think pharmacies were wrong to offer multiple pen bundles. I don't blame people for ordering multiple pens from mutiple pharmacies but it does stink. Seeing people say they have 10+ pens in reserve is a bit shocking when plenty of people can't even get their next pen and are facing stopping with no taper and with weight still to lose.

People are even struggling to find 5mg pens now and plenty of providers are already increasing prices on the lower doses they do have available.

I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be as bad as expected come September. I am preparing myself that I'll have stop MJ though. That's disappointing and I am worried because I fully expected to be on it for a long time but there's no way I could pay the new prices, not even for a 2.5mg. It's a big stretch as it is now and I can only afford it because I took on some private chef work in addition to my day job. I'm sure there are many, many people in my situation and it just feels awful.

In a year I'll probably be back where I started, 20st and slowly killing myself with food again.

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 16:23

£290 is for the 7.5mg @MynameisJune
Current price is £144….

Wow that’s a huge increase! Who is that with?

Zibb · 19/08/2025 16:33

@Zibb thank you.

Oushk is currently the cheapest for 7.5mg. Their consultation is very thorough (be prepared to prove your height) and you will have to have a video call booked when you order but you don't have to complete the call to be approved, you just have to make sure it's done at a later date. Looking at other threads elsewhere they don't have delivery dates available until September but it might be worth a look.

I haven't read any reviews about the next cheapest, Independent Pharmacy.

Superdrug are obviously a massive company and their ordering process and consultation is very straight forward. They offer a click + collect so might be the quickest.

Curate, like I said before, require a video consult but no dates available until mid-Sept.

Hope you manage to get something sorted!

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 16:52

MynameisJune · 19/08/2025 16:27

Wow that’s a huge increase! Who is that with?

I was using Dickson pharmacy. A small pharmacy in Glasgow that I’ve used before for private prescriptions. Made sense for me to use them as I had used them before either no issue at all.

MoveOverToTheSea · 19/08/2025 16:55

@zibb just put an order with Cloud as you suggested as price wasn’t too bad either. And certainly better than the £290 I’ve been given!
Hopefully it will all get through - delivery date on Thursday 🤞🤞

Then in September, I’ll just go back to the drawing board

SpiralSister · 19/08/2025 17:02

Oh, @Zibb, I’m sorry. You sound despondent and no wonder.

On the independent pharmacy, they are who I use and I’ve been really happy with them so far..

MynameisJune · 19/08/2025 17:19

@Zibb i’m so sorry to read your post. People being allowed to collect 10+ pens is crazy. I’m really hope that price increases won’t be as bad as suggested. I feel for anyone having to contemplate stopping cold turkey half way through their weight loss and well before planned.

skyscrapersinging · 19/08/2025 17:24

Has anyone considered changing over to Wegovy in the future? Oushk are suggesting it’s a viable alternative to Mounjaro and far cheaper.

Quite apart from the weight loss, I feel so much better generally and I’m sure that my inflammation levels are lower- I felt heaps better in my body and joints, even after just a couple of jabs, so it isn’t only the weight loss.

I’ve been so happy on Mj and grateful to have been able to afford it, but not sure I can really afford it long term for maintenance, like I thought I would be. £150 a month is one thing, £290 is another thing altogether.

Current wegovy is not as effective as mounjaro. The new wegovy 7.2 is equivalent to MJ 15mg but it’s only just gone to the EMA for approval.

Also 2.4mg of wegovy is about as expensive as 10-12.5mg of MJ at the new price so wegovy 7.2 is likely to be very expensive.

And I don’t think wegovy 7.2 acts on GLP and GLP-1 like MJ does.

It’s undoubtedly better than nothing if you can mange/don’t get the side effects but it’s not the exact comparison that lots of pharmacies are making it out to be.

SpiralSister · 19/08/2025 18:07

I might consider Wegovy in the future for maintenance, maybe..

The Independent Pharmacy is discounting Wegovy for MJ patients, as an alternative..

MynameisJune · 19/08/2025 18:13

I only hope when retatrutide comes out that pharmacies are so lenient with people being able to move over from MJ/wegovy if they want to. It’s supposed to be even better than MJ.

I accidentally ordered 3 pens from two different pharmacies at the end of last week (forgot about the first one and then placed an order the next day), I tried to cancel one of them but it has been dispatched before I've even got a reply. I didn't want to try and cancel either before approval in case I didn't get either but even despite the longer dispatch time I still wasn't able to cancel. No response by email and the phone number on their website just rang out. Medexpress might be the same if they're still as inundated with enquiries.

CoolLimeSheep · 19/08/2025 19:11

@usedtobeaylis thats what I was thinking i called today after ages trying get through they said they'll send email put urgent on it if not heard by thursday call again not sure if they were just fobbing me off. I might give them till thurs if not I'll defo go in my local pharmacy get it.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 19/08/2025 19:27

Think some of the pharmacies are being quite deceptive with Mj patients interested in Wegovy. But I feel sad about the whole thing too.

Zibb · 19/08/2025 19:52

Hopefully the past 6 months of work that I've put in will have laid the foundations for me to at least minimise the weight gain.

MJ also pretty much cured my cluster headaches and nerve pain in my face. I am so frightened that they will come back. The pain of a cluster headache honestly makes me wish I was dead.

I don't think Wegovy is a viable alternative for me but hopefully it works for everyone that does switch. Although I do agree with @Nomoretopswithblacktrousers about pharmacies being deceptive about it.

The whole thing is just so disappointing and frustrating.

Fuck the orange felon and his disgusting tiny hands!
