I noticed we were almost full (again!) so took the liberty of starting thread 5 now so I don’t get confused on nightshift and can’t find you all!

@Seahorsesplendour congrats, such a lovely thing to read, so chuffed for you. And @VashtaNeradaI loved your post as well.

Gingercar · 19/08/2025 22:07

I thought I loved cottage cheese, although hadn’t tried any for years. I bought some a couple of weeks ago, but thought it was awful!
Voy’s bot suggested a lasagna when I asked for ideas of what to do with it, but I haven’t tried it yet.

I put cottage cheese in scrambled eggs instead of milk. They pretty much dissolve with a lot of stirring and I usually add egg whites. Overall the eggs come out very fluffy and I don't taste the cottage cheese.

ElsieJay · 19/08/2025 22:20

Lone voice of dissent here, but I quite enjoy cottage cheese ! Definitely didn’t fancy it blended into the eggs, though 🤮.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 19/08/2025 22:49

Every time my eyes flit over the words, 'cottage cheese' my mouth forms a wibbly S shape like a cartoon character. Bleeeeurgh. Fair play to you @ElsieJay and @BluNavy. Roasted vegetable lasagna sounds lovely, it just makes me want ratatouille!

My partner suggested we could use quark in place of cottage cheese to remove the ick factor.

Me: 'Would it taste good?'
Him, reassuringly: 'I dunno, maybe?'

ElsieJay · 19/08/2025 22:55

@DidILeaveTheGasOn - with respect, that doesn’t sound reassuring at all ! 🤣🤣

Gingercar · 19/08/2025 23:12

I live off ratatouille. I make a huge vat of it without the aubergine and use it for pasta sauce, or in jacket spuds or I put chick peas and curry powder in it for a curry. It’s my absolute veggie basic. I’ve eaten it for years and still love it. It’s helping so much with my eating at the moment. (haven’t put seeds in it so far!!)

Gingercar · 19/08/2025 23:14

I say stuff the cottage cheese and eat a cheese you enjoy! I have a fair bit of halloumi, feta and mozzarella, even cheddar in and amongst. Hasn’t caused any problems so far.

I add black olives & chick peas for a healthy pasta sauce with protein. It's one of the few things everyone in my house will eat!

Gingercar · 19/08/2025 23:32

I wish I liked olives. I spent a year in Tuscany and a year in Provence and still can’t stand them, so I guess I never will! I don’t even like olive oil. The Italians were disgusted with me, they even had an olive grove where I worked!

BerfyTigot · 20/08/2025 06:49

@ElsieJay Asda have sent me a similar message- will be reviewed 22-28th. Hope your timings work out ok.

Forgot to say earlier that we went to a long awaited (by me) family party at the weekend, and I wore some jeans that used to cut off my blood supply. They were fine and I felt really good about myself for the first time in ages.

STILL no one noticed!! I think I just have a very unobservant family 😁

MissMogs · 20/08/2025 07:19

DBatteryBand · 19/08/2025 21:27

I am up for trying to increase my protein intake. I absolutely cannot tolerate shakes and all that, so I shall have to live on steak (sorry cows) and eggs. @ElsieJay I keep looking at cottage cheese in the supermarket but I get flashbacks to my mother trying to get me to eat it, aged 10, on a Ryvita with chopped up apple 😖and the Mounjaro ‘That’s Not Going In My Mouth’ portcullis descends. I have to go and look at the lettuces to restore my equilibrium.

This has made my morning. Top marks for the metaphor! Love it!

MyScaredCat · 20/08/2025 07:19

Morning. Just hopped on the scales as it’s weigh day and I’m down 1.5lbs. Mustn’t have gone as OTT on my trip as I assumed I had!
2 stone 10.5 total now and BMI 25.1. Sooo close

my hubby eats a tub of cottage cheese daily, the texture gives me the ick. I’ve never even tried it. My friend adds it to scrambled eggs for creaminess. I don’t even like eggs 🙈

tostaky · 20/08/2025 07:26

Well done for the NSV @BerfyTigot

I weighted myself last night and i did lose 1.3kg while on holidays! Bloody amazing 🤩 it may be due to the extreme heat: not feeling hungry and drinking loads of water and because I was/I am ill. Whichever way, i am glad it is a loss.
A couple more kilos and i should be in the overweight category! so happy!! DP has moved into overweight already 😊

i am starting to panic a bit about what other people are going to think - i know i shouldnt worry about this. I dont know what i am going to say if someone comments on my weight loss. I was thinking maybe i should stop for a couple of months so it is not too obvious. Alongside work I am also a student 😅 I am dreading the late sept start date as i havent seen my peers and my seminar leaders since June and i will have probably lost around 15-20kg by then so very noticeable… im thinking people might notice less if they see you on a daily basis but if you havent seen someone for the past 3-4 months, a loss is more striking. Im hoping they will all be too polite to say anything!!

BerfyTigot · 20/08/2025 07:47

@tostaky could you just say 'thanks, trying to eat less junk these days'. You dont need to mention the jabs. Tbh, I don't discuss my other meds with colleagues, so why would I discuss MJ.

If they ask 'are you on the jabs', I'd lie 😀

Good luck, and congratulations on losing weight on holiday 👏 I'm also only a couple of kg from 'overweight'. Really looking forward to getting there.

ElsieJay · 20/08/2025 07:48

@BerfyTigot - brilliant news re the jeans 👖!
I think I’d have to say something to your family, though - so frustrating.
Glad (in a strange way) you’ve had the same message from Asda, nothing we can do but I hate this uncertainty.
@tostaky - fab loss, even better for being unexpected . May I ask why you don’t want anyone to comment on your amazing achievement?

ElsieJay · 20/08/2025 07:55

Cross post , Berfy !
Was thinking how ironic it is that you want (and deserve!) recognition for your weight loss, whilst Tost is worried about it .
Of course it’s the MJ “stigma” isn’t it - so many judgey people out there 🤬
Look them in the eye, @tostaky , and tell them you’ve had a rampant summer and didn’t have time to eat !! 🤣🤣

DBatteryBand · 20/08/2025 08:02

Well done, losers!

Look them in the eye, , and tell them you’ve had a rampant summer and didn’t have time to eat !! 🤣🤣

I love this.

<Tips hat> Thanks!

ElsieJay · 20/08/2025 09:09

@MyScaredCat - apologies, missed you off my earlier post . Well done on the loss , and that BMI - brilliant ! 🤩

stripesdotsdashes · 20/08/2025 09:11

A win over here for the slow plodders! Im now in touching distance of goal at 25.5 BMI, with 3.5lbs/1.5kg to go! Im losing 1lb a week on average, and after plateauing for the past 3/4 weeks it's shifting again.
My body fat is still obese at 34% according to my Renpho scales, that's stubbornly high but visceral fat is 8% and healthy which is the main one to care about.
I can grab handfuls of loose fat/skin, it's like Im wearing a jelly suit, so I feel good clothed, but not so much without. When on all fours it just hangs down. Nothing I can do about it, so just need to be grateful im healthier overall.
I've got 2 doses left, one 5mg pen waiting in tbe fridge which will be my final one that ill try and taper with. Im nervous...

I've written out some lessons for myself from this journey to take forward:

  1. Smaller portions i.e. 1 piece of toast not 2
  2. No snacking other than fruit/yoghurt
  3. Very few treats
  4. Don't need loads of fueling before/during exercise
  5. Stop eating after dinner other than yoghurt.

It's basically been a huge realisation I need far less food than I used to eat. I just hope my brain/belly complies and it's not also the jabs are doing something magic that I cant compensate for when off them.
Love the portcullis metaphor too! I've definitely had that feeling!
Onwards and downwards for all, and may your posties deliver those pens on time!

I’ve learnt people are not too polite at all!! I get daily comments. I seem to have lost it all from my face so maybe just very noticeable! You don’t have to mention jabs if you don’t want to. No one knows I’m on them except my DH. I just say I’m eating less crap.
a few have said in passing ‘are you taking those awful jabs’ wink wink.
i just laugh and change subject.
noones business and I don’t want to get into discussion about it

SaintAgatha · 20/08/2025 10:09

@tostaky I was thinking something similar the other night. I bumped into a former colleague in town the other day and they visibly looked me up and down. Haven’t seen them since April and have lost nearly 3 stone since then! I’m just going to joke about the impact of the cost of living crisis. 😅

You might not want to get too fixed on the various stats on your scales - I listened to a BBC podcast which said they all work off algorithms, they don't actually measure your e.g. visceral fat. So they say the average woman with a BMI of X has y% visceral fat, so that's what you have.
Sorry.

Are smart scales really clever enough to tell you more than your weight?

Weighed the other day as had to update order with pharmacy (praying it all goes through smoothly!) and am really pleased with results so far.

SW 110.2kg
CW 93.16kg
GW 80kg

I’ve gone from a BMI of 38 to 32 and have lost three inches from my boobs, waist and hips. Hoping to carry on until end of October and see where I am with it all.
