I noticed we were almost full (again!) so took the liberty of starting thread 5 now so I don’t get confused on nightshift and can’t find you all!

My weight loss is so slow now. I had hoped that moving up to 5 would get things going again but I’ve not really seen much difference so far (it’s only been two days though!). I lost about a stone in the first week, I think that’s given me a completely unrealistic idea of what’s normal!

2old4thisshit · 03/08/2025 17:26

Weighed myself today, I am 300g off of a 10kg loss.

I started 12/5 at 83.7 kg.
bmi 33
waist 109cm

I am on my third month of 2.5, injection 11 in total.

cw 74.0kg

I am pleased with the results, haven’t lost a huge amount in the second and third injection, and not sure if to go up to 5mg or stay at 2.5.

SutekhsEars · 03/08/2025 18:10

I've lost a similar amount to you, @2old4thisshit . I've ordered a 5mg pen but am planning on taking around 3mg as a compromise. I haven't lost anything really in the last month, so I think I need at least a small increase

SutekhsEars · 03/08/2025 18:15

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I can sympathise with that - I have clothing of every size known to woman! I think it's as much about headspace as anything else - anything that doesn't fit or you aren't going to wear goes out of sight - in a suitcase under your bed or wherever. Then when you can only see the clothes you are going to wear, it's easier to make an outfit, or buy one specific thing that will help make several outfits, rather than panic-buying loads of random stuff. But I know it's hard when you're in the middle of losing weight - you don't want to waste £ on clothes that won't fit next month.

PandaIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/08/2025 18:32

@VashtaNerada my weightloss really slowed down on 5mg. Now after 2 months on 5, I'll be moving to 7.5 in about 2 weeks. Will see if anything changes.

ElsieJay · 03/08/2025 19:15

Phew, finally a chance to catch up with
everyone - been one of those weekends 😥.
Thanks to all of you who sent good wishes to Milo the Wanderer , it was very kind .
He’s now safely in the cattery until DD and family return from holiday. A stressful few days none of us needed, but a happy outcome thank goodness.
DS ( today’s birthday boy ) decided 4pm yesterday that yes, he would like to go out for Sunday roast lunch today after all 🙄 - cue his lovely GF and myself phoning all our favourite places for a table for 4 at 1pm - no joy!
So guess who volunteered to cook 👩🏻‍🍳- mad dash to the ( not very local ) Sainsburys for a nice joint of beef plus all the trimmings , wine and dessert , no way was I prepping that on top of cooking lunch .
DH and myself have just collapsed on the sofa sat down after washing up , cleaning kitchen and putting everything away - because of course, we refused all offers of help, as we all do !!
We all had a great time, though, and DS and his GF both very grateful - they’re about to move house, don’t think they’ve had a proper cooked meal all week .
Pleasantly surprised at the size of lunch I had - and just a small scoop of ice cream afterwards. To be honest, I found the cooking smells a bit of a turn-off : has anyone else experienced the same ?
Onwards, downwards and very shortly soaking in a nice relaxing bath wards !

ElsieJay · 03/08/2025 19:22

@PandaIsMySpiritAnimal - wow, you can really see a difference ! Just shows how we shouldn’t use the scales as our only measure of progress. Congratulations!
And @PinkScot - I am seething on your behalf, how mean was that . Your “friend “ is obviously jealous as hell. Hopefully she’ll reflect on her behaviour and apologise.

PinkScot · 03/08/2025 19:25

@ElsieJay yes I cook every night for family of five and sometimes can’t bear it. Tonight’s tea is sitting in microwave until I can face it and the rest of family have chowed down already! I’d just as soon have a salad every night!

2old4thisshit · 03/08/2025 19:28

@ElsieJay I am majorly put off by cooking smells. This jab reminds me of early pregnancy nausea.

@SutekhsEars I am really worried about moving up to 5mg, I had awful SE during the first month, to the point where I left off weeks in between. I’m thinking if I’m still losing weight, even if it is slowly then I may stay on 2.5.

Gingercar · 03/08/2025 19:37

Definitely unrealistic to expect huge losses like that. It slows down for most of us. I usually lose an average of about 2lbs a week. Took me a lot longer than a week to lose a stone!!

Do people generally feel going up spending dose kick starts weight loss again? I haven’t found any difference between doses and losses. I went down from my 4mg golden dose to 2.5mg because I had extra liquid left for another cheeky golden dose, then jumped up to 5mg. I may have somehow missed a dose one week too, without realising. I’ve mostly lost 2lbs each time (probably jinxed that now!!).

VashtaNerada · 03/08/2025 19:47

Yes, the stone in a week was insane! I was extremely unwell with vomiting and diarrhoea so it wasn’t fun. I then lost a further nine pounds over the next month and it’s plateaued ever since. I would be very happy with 2lbs a week but it’s nowhere near that. Will be patient though and trust the process.

ElsieJay · 03/08/2025 19:49

So glad it’s not just me - it’s only DH and myself at home so rarely do a roast these days. Couldn’t stomach Yorkshires, or even a roast potato today, which used to be my favourite items.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 03/08/2025 20:31

I lost a chunk due to moving and loads of physical exercise, and then I've continued to lose due to willpower and really bad eating habits.
Things like, if I fancy a glass of wine in the evening I'll skip dinner to have the calories. That's been brewing for a while but it's at the point where I'll try to do one meal a day and get annoyed with myself if I need to eat more.
I know this is bad.
In the early days, I was having my yoghurt bowls and big prawn salads and protein shakes and I don't know what happened. I suppose moving house and changing jobs and finding new schools for my kids. Arguing horribly with my ex-husband (v controlling and anxious, I have a lot of empathy for him still which makes it all harder).

Also noticed that I'm struggling to shower every day again, I just can't face it and it can take a lot of arguing with myself to get in the shower.

I think overall it's a natural response to a boatload of stress and I need to eat more, at least. I'm so over being hungry all the time. But if I eat three times a day, the loss is going to drop and I've got 5 stone to go yet. I have this persistent, daily fear that the weight is never going to go.

Gingercar · 03/08/2025 21:34

That’s why I think calorie counting is a bit dangerous. I’ve not counted calories for the whole process, apart from one day last week when I got the nutracheck app. I input the things I ate and was shocked that it was 1750 caps, when a lot of people on here stick to 1000-1300. For the next couple of days I kept reining myself in from having quite as much yoghurt in the morning, or less grapes. Whereas before I’d really enjoyed what I was eating, that week I started stressing a little. One night I had soup instead of a meal. And you know what - I lost less that week than I have any other week. Might be a coincidence, but I am going back to how I was before.
If you eat once a day you’re not going to do your metabolism any good in the long run. Can you do a reset? Go back to the way you were eating at the start. Because that was obviously working for you then.
(hope this doesn’t come across as mega criticism. I hope we “know each other” well enough by now to know it’s meant as support. You’re at the same stage as me, need you in it for the long haul!)

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 03/08/2025 22:18

Definitely not taken as criticism, I took it as a supportive hug and a steer towards the kitchen. Thank you. I've been out and bought greek yoghurt and fruit for the morning. Fresh start tomorrow!

SussexLass87 · 04/08/2025 12:44

Everything you're saying is really resonating - I've slipped into forgetting to eat again. Which is so unhealthy!

I've set reminders on my phone now - literally "eat your lunch' which has really helped me.

Also in this for the long term....another 5 stone to get healthy so I'm actually quite glad to know I'll have some buddies along the way.

After a few weeks of maintaining or a small gain...a nice NSV today. My wedding ring fits again! Haven't been able to wear it for 3 years. It's lovely to have it back on again.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 04/08/2025 13:29

week 11 and another 1kg off taking my total loss to 13.4kg. I now weigh 85kg. Target is currently 67kg which is top end of a healthy BMI.

Struggling with side effects so I haven’t taken MJ for 10 days. I’m letting it drop out my system for a bit to see if it is a side effect or something unrelated. I’ve never gone above the starting dose of 2.5mg so not bothered about a pause. I have this horrible sensation that I have something stuck in my throat. There isn’t actually anything there and I can eat normally. Dr thinks there is some irritation in my throat so probably related to indigestion but taking omeprazole didnt make any significant difference so I’ll stop MJ and see if it improves. I’m also referred for a camera investigation but the referral time is about 5months so expect I’ll pay privately as don’t want to wait that long.

I don’t want to come off MJ and I can tolerate the throat feeling if I know it’s not causing any damage but I’ll get the camera thing done and then see what drs say.

SaintAgatha · 04/08/2025 13:46

@SussexLass87That’s a lovely NSV. 🙂

I’m fairly lucky in that I have to cook for the DC, so I have that structure to my day. Otherwise I’d probably have to schedule reminders, too! I’ve also lost that feeling of craving lovely fresh salads, I want to get back to enjoying them.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 04/08/2025 14:05

Ah I love this group. What a lovely bunch and it's so reassuring to be understood and be going through similar experiences.

NSV today - one of my pairs of size 18 jeans is now too big. They were mom jeans and really comfortable and flattering when they fit. I may have to buy them in a smaller size.

Slightly odd experience with my Salter scales today - picked them up to move them and they shattered in my hands. I am clearly hench AF! Bits of glass all over the bathroom! Gah.

Should I replace them with more Salter scales or get some fancypants ones? Any recommendations?

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 04/08/2025 14:06

@SussexLass87 So lovely to hear about your wedding ring. Love that.

Ooh that’s strange, isn’t it. Did you get a lot of the sulphur burps or heartburn? I hope you get to the bottom of it.

TreesOfGreen99 · 04/08/2025 16:02

Another one struggling a bit with the MJ.
Have just finished 3 lots of Antibiotics (ABs) and suffered terrible side effects. Have spoken to a lovely nurse who suggested that as MJ slows everything going through your system, and as the ABs were pretty strong, they’ve upset my system.
So am having a reset this week. Have finished the medication, and am not going to inject this week.
All being well, the plan is to start again at 2.5 next Monday and then take it a week at a time.
Still got lots to lose so feels it’s better to take a step back now, and get myself healthy. Hopefully will only lose a week or two overall, but still a bit frustrating.

Could a 40-year old wear this? I like the style and colours but I was dressing quite fuddy duddy when I was at my heaviest and now I don't seem to know where to shop.

https://www.disturbia.co.uk/collections/womens-jumpers/products/cassandra-floral-knit-jumper

Absolutely! You deserve to feel wonderful and like yourself ❤️

I found myself googling "can 40 year olds wear mini skirts" the other day. Then gave my head a wobble and realised "I can wear what the hell I like"...!

I did order a mini skirt off Vinted that 25 year old Lass would have worn...then realised my tastes / style has moved on so I'm on the hunt for a slightly different one!!

God bless Vinted - I'm reordering so many clothes I already have - just in smaller sizes.

Been careful not to go mad, but also I want to enjoy every stage of this and feel put together. It's been such a revelation to dress for pleasure rather than just "what fits"

SussexLass87 · 04/08/2025 16:04

And why not - here's the ring! I missed her! DH had offered to get me a new one a while ago, but I wanted to get back into the one from our wedding. It means a lot to me.
