Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

After upping to 3.75 on Friday morning I am lethargic today and really feeling the suppression today - struggled to finish lunch and dinner but made sure I had some protein drinks. Hoping it passes soon.

I’ve decided to switch to wegovy because of the price increase, But I’m worried it’s not going to work as well? Has anyone else switched? I’m only on w3 of mounjaro and it’s such a shame I have to move from something that was working, but I guess that’s the case for a lot of people

What is the difference in price @Lemon1111, is wegovy a lot cheaper? I might have to consider it as I don't think I will be able to afford to move to high doses of monjouro. I'm just hoping I can stay on 2.5 or 5mg for a while and will have a reasonable amount of suppression still

DandelionPockets · 24/08/2025 20:42

So I've come to the end of my 4 weeks on pen one. I don't have my next pen because of the delays caused by the recent craziness. And probably won't for over a week!! 😔

So plan is, to see if I can keep up the calorie reduction and conscious eating for a week and then when I do eventually get my next pen start again.

Anyway, lost 10.5lbs on 4 weeks, happy with that.

That's a great loss @DandelionPockets . Hopefully you're next pen will arrive soon and you won't have to have much of a gap

The head to head to head trial showed greater weight loss with Mounjaro (pictured 1). There is a higher dose of Wegovy which is due out though which is almost triple the strength of that used in the head to head. (Pic 2). Hope that helps?

I had my second dose last night, interestingly the appetite was still really low today but the craving for sweets higher than it's been so far. Hoping that does down again tmrw.

Also hoping I get rid of these immense (I mean IMMENSE) burps by then. I had been half pondering, at some future day when I'm more used to things, stretching out doses every 8 days not 7 due to price rises. But today has taught me that if I do that, I'll need to plan it carefully around my schedule, unless I fancy repeatedly belching in colleagues' faces for 8 hours straight.

Is anyone else struggling with tiredness? I don't have any energy for anything. I could happily stay in bed all day, I'm really struggling!

I do have lots of waves of tiredness which come and go. Def not bouncing around full of energy as some people seem to get! Think its getting better now in week 4, fingers crossed.

The thing i realised today is that hydration really us a factor, the days I don't keep chugging water and forget the electrolyte drink I end up bloated, wrinkly skinned and headachy. 😵‍💫

I’m the same. I crave water all the time! I’ve also developed a slight addiction to watermelon.

RalphtheMouth · 25/08/2025 08:10

W3 D2 - 3rd jab last night and weigh in today - down 2.5 so 8lbs in 2 weeks - very happy with that.

I don't think I have any side effects, just not sleeping well which is quite normal for me.

LnicMJ · 25/08/2025 10:14

Morning all and well done on all the losses!

W2D2 weigh day for me...
SW 13st 3.75lb (5ft1)
CW 12st 12lb
GW 10st

-5.75lb loss this week which I'm so pleased about!

I've been going to the gym for weight training 3 times a week for about 45 mins a time (only started 2 weeks ago). I dont normally eat breakfast so I've just had a healthy lunch and then just a smaller portion of our evening meal, and been drinking loads.
Not felt too bad apart from tired but I've had a busy couple of weeks anyway so it may be that. Haven't felt like I've been hungry or missing out on anything which is amazing!
Have even partaked in take away night with 2 slices of pizza (would normally eat the whole thing) and had BH drinks with friends yesterday, all beit less than I'd normally have - did feel a bit sick so stopped and went on to water.

Bit of a learning curve this week but this coming weekend I've plans then 2 weeks after but then nothing much so hoping I'll get really stuck in to it by end September! I'm so ready for this to work lol!!!

Hope you all have a fab week! Please keep the progress and weigh ins coming, as it is such a motivator to me xxx

reluctantbrit · 25/08/2025 11:08

I am now D4 on 5mg and finally feel a bit more normal. The jab day is always a day I feel really sluggish but this time it wiped me out. Couldn't stomach any food outside plain toast and had some nausea and stomach pain after each meal.

That has lessoned but portion sizes have decreased, I really have to work on hitting my calorie intake, I aim for 1200-1400 and think I am lucky if I hit 800.

Unfortunately my insomnia is back, 2 hours wide awake each night and going back to sleep at 5am is ok on a weekend but the next couple of days and work will be a nightmare.

Pollypot25 · 25/08/2025 12:05

Well done everyone on your losses 🎉 agree @LnicMJ it is motivating to see how everyone is getting on.

As predicted, my losses have slowed down but that’s fine with me. It was a bit too dramatic in week one. I’ve also had my birthday in this last week which involved a bit too much to eat & one alcoholic drink (didn’t sleep well at all that night) plus a couple of chocolate based gifts. I have eaten some and I enjoyed them but I didn’t have an over riding need to devour them. They have also so far lasted significantly longer than they would have done pre-MJ. In fact one box is currently unopened. I have never been someone that could just put chocolate away and leave it alone. Normally it would be eaten past the point of enjoyment, followed by deep regret and self loathing.

W3 D1
SW: 80.6kg (12 stone 10 lb)
CW: 76.5kg (12 stone 0.7lb)
GW: 57kg (8 stone 13 lb)
Total Loss over 2 weeks: 4.3kg (9lb).

I’m happy with the above.

I was thinking of increasing to 5mg but my current provider (IQ doctor) doesn’t have any stock so I’ve placed an order for another month of 2.5mg. The price was much higher than my first order but I decided to just go ahead rather than risk that also running out of stock. Once we know the extent of the price increases I’m going to consider moving to Wegovy.

Do you take a magnesium supplement @reluctantbrit ? I take it before bed and find it really helps with sleep.

TheArtfulCrow · 25/08/2025 14:03

I have the dreaded eggy burps today! Suppression still quite high so Im going to stick for 2.5mg for now.

Yes, and it really helped until I started on 5mg.

already cut down on tea in the evening and hardly any wine with MJ anyway.

I got my weighted blanket out and that helps a bit with the restlessness in My mind.

It may be that it’s because my DD starts uni in a couple of weeks and the MJ dose increase has nothing to do with it.

sfraxx · 25/08/2025 16:33

Hello, wondering if I can join.
i took my first 2.5mg today.
so far so good, feeling a bit ughhh, but nothing to major. My anxiety is a bit heightened but i think its the fear of the unknown, i get this starting new antibiotics lol.
I've lost almost 2st myself since January but at a very slow pace probably due to my pcos.
so decided to start today.

SW in January - 13st11lbs
CW and SW on MJ - 12st3lbs
GW - 10st

Hoping to be at GW for 31st October 2025.

xx

Welcome 🙂 Well done for taking - hopefully you'll be absolutely fine.

I am the same weight as you are currently. My goal is 9 stone 7 - I would love to be there by end of October but not sure. I have my 2nd weigh-in on Wednesday. I lost 5ib first week which is the most I have ever lost 1st week when I did slimming world.

Haribosweets · 25/08/2025 16:51

I ordered another 2.5 today. Saturday I was really hungry all day but kept within my limit. On Sunday / today I have had suppression again. Suppose I am going to get days like it.

Even though I still have 2 more jabs to take I ordered before the price hike and delays in posting so didn't want to risk. I am hoping I'll be ok on another 2.5 for another month otherwise I will need to go up but by then the shortages etc will hopefully have settled down!

Does anyone else wish they could rush through just the next 3 or 4 weeks just to see if the weight really does keep falling off?!

hi, so far so good lol.

i have struggled with my weight all my life. I lost 4st when pregnant in 2019 with my son as I had HG. Got down to 8st12 and maintained until I fell pregnant with my daughter in 2020. Then in lockdown, I just ate too much and didn’t move much. Been on off dieting ever since and only ever managed like 6lbs then would get fed up and stop. I’ve managed to stick to a diet for 8 months and almost 2st down but it’s so disheartening just losing 2lb the gaining 1.5lb back the next week and so on. The dr has suggested it’s probably down to my pcos and insulin resistance.
So hoping this works wonders for me. I was only losing regularly when I’d drop calories to 800. I am only 5ft so my maintained is very low already. Ideally I’d love to get to 9st7lbs as this is my healthy bmi weight but I think I’ll head for 10 and if I get to 9 then even better lol.

it was my cousin who told me to join here as it’ll be good to talk to some people who are going through the same. I don’t know anyone else on MJ and my friends are all highly against it and not a good word to say about anyone on it.

here’s hoping we are at goal soon. My pharmacy is my husbands work, they aren’t going up in price until 8th of October I think she said so I should be able to order a 3rd pen before the increase xx

Yes. It just seems to good to be true for the weight to drop off with very little effort as every time I dropped weight it was through blood, sweat and tears. I also just want to book my Maldives holiday, as I'm not going while looking like a beached whale...

Very similar - I am 4 foot 10!
Over the past 20 years I have been 8 stone right through to 13 stone without pregnancy. I was about 14.7 when I was 8 months pregnant. 🙈

I haven't told hardly anyone either - my husband obviously knows - I told a work colleague as knew she was ok but no one else knows. My gym instructor is so against them that is the hardest as I tend to log food and weight with her every so often!

Yes, I also feel like nothing has ever worked for me so this probably won’t either. I made a TikTok today and have just been looking through everyone else journey.
I’ve just gotten it into my head that I’ll never lose weight lol! Can’t wait to see where we all are at the end of our pens. I hope we all get the results we want🩷

i hope we get to our targets and this helps us. I’m excited to see where will be. I started today and have my appointment 5 weeks today for weigh in with my pharmacy as she wants to weigh me after first pen. I’m hoping to have at least 12lbs off. She said every person she has saw has lost 1 stone at their first appointment so it fills me with hope but I also know, not everyone is the same x
