Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

I'm doing good in terms of food noise, yesterday I only had one fleeing thought about snacks. The meals I'm eating are still unhealthy (pasta mostly), but that's just out of habit, not because I'm really craving unhealthy food. I need to google some healthy recipes for my next shop.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 22/08/2025 10:24

That’s wonderful @reluctantbrit, it soon adds up.

Im finding a bit more food noise W3 D5 and want to alter my injection day to a Friday going forward so took a 3.75 dose this morning and hope to stay there for a few weeks slowly increasing to 5.

TheArtfulCrow · 22/08/2025 13:27

Jab and weigh in day for me tomorrow. Ive been on holiday since Monday with the kids so it'd been a lot of not so good snacking, so im not hopeful about any loss 😬

RedPony1 · 22/08/2025 14:02

Mine arrived yesterday!!

My worst days for eating too much are Monday to Friday whilst working, so i was thinking about a Sunday night jab? is that how this works? 😂

maz99 · 22/08/2025 14:15

Hi everyone.... I'm new, so not yet started.
In fact, I can't decide between Mounjaro & Wegovy

I'm 55, 5'7" and just under 19.5 stone

Any advice?

I jab on Sunday evening to stop me grazing all day long at work!
My office is murder, there’s always cakes and sweets lying around.

Also thinking that if the suppression wears off before next dose, I would rather that happen Friday onwards in order to enjoy family meals.
It didn’t wear off last weekend so I ate very minimally during the day and enjoyed a smaller meal with family which worked well.

Music to my ears!! Glad it's worked for you - Sunday eve it is then!

DandelionPockets · 22/08/2025 16:11

Finding the 4th week on 2.5mg hard. The food noise is creeping back in and I'm having to really stop myself reaching for snacks - doing well with it though so glad the mindset shift is starting too. Helps that there's no unhealthy food in the house!

DandelionPockets · 22/08/2025 16:13

At what weight loss does loose skin generally happen at?

I've got a jelly belly already after pregnancy but wondering if I'll get loose skin elsewhere.

5ft7in and hoping to lose a total of 35lbs-ish

I've been wondering about loose skin too @DandelionPockets . I'm the same height as you and I'm looking to lose around 50lb in total. I've lost 14 so far in 4 weeks which I'm really pleased with. I'm sticking at 2.5 for the next month rather than upping my dose, I'm hoping that if I lose the weight slowly there's less chance of loose skin and I'm more likely to form good eating habits for the long term.

Hi. Mounjaro been in fridge for over a month…. Finally taking the plunge and starting tomorrow. Looking forward to getting some control back. Not sure how I feel about sharing what I’m doing with my friends (irrationally, I feel a little ashamed) so looking to share with you all instead!

Oh my goodness. I feel exactly the same. I've had Mounjaro in the fridge for at least two months and a mixture of nerves and feeling like I really should be able to lose weight without it has put me off. My husband knows that it's been sitting in the fridge and I've told him why I haven't used it yet, but I've taken my first injection this evening and I think I'm going to keep it to myself for as long as I can. I think I don't want people judging me if I have side effects and "it's all my own fault", if you know what I mean?

Good luck @WildCoffeeDrinker . Hopefully you won't have any side effects and will feel a sense of control, that's been the biggest thing for me since starting. I really feel like I am in control of my eating now and it's a huge relief

WildCoffeeDrinker · 22/08/2025 20:29

I've had Mounjaro in the fridge since June and finally took the plunge this evening. I've been nervous about side effects and didn't want to start until I was back from holiday and settled before returning to work, so hopefully everything will be calm before I go back. I've been so encouraged to hear so many of you talking about minimal or no side effects and the effect that it has had on thinking about food. I am soooo tired of thinking about food all the time and I want it to stop! I'm not going to tell anyone that I've started because I don't want everyone's opinion on it, so we'll just see how we go. Thanks for setting up the group - it's really helping me to read how others are getting on.

That is absolutely what I need. I am so fed up of feeling that I'm my own worst enemy. I undermine myself all the time and it's so frustrating!

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 22/08/2025 20:41

Just wondering if anyone else is still eating carbs etc? Normally I would cut it out but this time I want to try and see if I can keep everything in moderation? Not sugar stuff but a bit of good bread like sourdough?
mainly I’m asking because I’ve got to 700kvals for the day and had two slices of sourdough (measured out and logged) with butterpak (also logged) taking me to just under 1100 for the day. This is my tdee so it should be fine but I feel guilty and trying to battle against that feeling.
Everything I eat is good stuff so protein and veg and fruit etc. Just wondering what other people are doing?

I have cut out most UPF but still having carbs. I had ciabatta with a prawn salad for dinner tonight and it was well within my calories and 42g of protein.

Thanks, this helps. I think I won’t necessarily eat it every day but I want to occasionally to try and have a healthy attitude without the annoying food guilt!

NeedSleepNow · 22/08/2025 21:50

@LaGioiosanotLeviosa I'm still eating carbs but not a lot. I've switched to wholemeal bread, I have the occasional wrap at lunchtime and sometimes have a few boiled new potatoes with dinner. I'm trying not to cut anything out completely.

AsteriaBuffy · 22/08/2025 22:52

@LaGioiosanotLeviosa I'm not cutting out anything, except stuff like biscuits on a daily basis. I still have chocolate sometimes. I'm not losing fast but one of the reasons I was nervous of doing this was I didn't want to feel left out of normal family stuff because I couldn't eat the same as everyone else, or have wine etc. On the lowest dose that's very doable for me atm.

Hellenicnim · 23/08/2025 02:00

Took my extra dose of my 2.5 pen, I definitely think I need to go up as this week I've struggled, i haven't gone over my deficit but it felt way more like dieting. I did think about skipping the extra dose and going up to 5 but it felt too wasteful given the price increase.

I used a syringe and got 0.8ml out of the pen. Even though the syringe I'd meant to make sure you take the right amount I took all of it which I make a dose of 3.33mg. My supplier already sent out my 5mg before all the shortages (I'm with she med who normally put people on 5mg after one 2.5 as long as no side effects) so will be going up next week so this is an interim step.up dose.

TheArtfulCrow · 23/08/2025 07:24

W4 D1, lost 2lbs this week but considering I've not been very good, I'm quite pleased 😂

SW: 14st 7lbs
CW: 13st 11lbs
GW: 10st

NeedSleepNow · 23/08/2025 08:19

W5 D1 for me, I've only lost 1lb this week, I'm now wondering if I should have gone up a dose to 5 rather than sticking at 2.5 for another month. Will try to be more aware of what I'm eating this week to stay on track and see if I lose a bit more this week.

SW 14st
CW 13st
GW 10st 7lb

I tried to get the extra dose out of my last pen just by forcing it to turn. It was quite easy to get it to turn to 1 but the plunger wouldn't work so I couldn't use it and had to use my new pen instead. I will get some insulin needles for next time and try that way instead I think.

I'm not cutting them out and I have had e.g avocado and feta on toast, spaghetti, couscous etc. But obvs smaller portions, and I am mostly eating the protein and veg off the plate first because I'm sometimes finding myself too full to finish and I want to at least make sure I've got protein and vitamins.

Haribosweets · 23/08/2025 09:12

Hi all, I'm still ok and having to force myself to eat! I just feel like I have eaten a big meal all the time. I am 4 foot 11 and starting weight was 12.8 (now 12.3) and having around 1100-1250 calories a day.
I haven't eaten any snacks or sweets (hence my username 🤣) and no food noise at all.
Next week I need to reorder my next pen and thinking about 2.5 again. I am just worried about the hunger / food noise coming back in week 4 like some people having and then need to wait for another month before I take a 5!
I have cut right down on carbs, although have had pasta once a week. I am eating more higher calorie foods and protein shakes to get the calories into me!

saywhaaaaaat · 23/08/2025 09:27

Morning all! I was at a music festival yesterday and finding something to eat that was proteiny was a nightmare. £15 for a chicken wrap, stuffed with rice... sob. Thankfully it's in my home city so I can eat a decent breakfast before I head out.

I'm feeling supression on my golden dose, it's maybe NOT as strong as it was before, but it's sufficient for now.

My weight loss is slowing now, which is to be expected. I weighed this morning and I'm 87.3kg, so 0.2 down from last week which is about half a pound nearly.

I am STILL waiting for my two pens to be prescribed from MedExpress, and I finally got a notification about the cost. My £149.99 is now going to be £179.99 for 2.5mg, and I think the 15mg which was £199.99 is going to be like £309.99.

Ouch. I can swallow that cost and could maybe stretch to a 5mg. I am hoping that I can get to my goal in about 6 months.
