Hi everybody! I haven't posted on Mumsnet for YEARS, but I thought it might be a good place to get a bit of a community feeling going.

I'm starting Mounjaro on Saturday 3rd August. It's arrived today but I'm doing a cooking class on Friday, and then we are on holiday for a week. It felt like it made sense to get started when we got back.

I've done the entire yo yo dieting thing before. SW, WW, Noom, Intermittent fasting, Keto, Exante, clean eating... the lot.

And I'm just so tired. I have also started to talk to a therapist about food as well. It became very clear to me that my issues with food are around stimulation/boredom etc. So, while I was a bit anti injections, I am thinking that it might be worth giving them a try just to see if it helps block that route, and allow me to find something else to fill that stimulation gap.

I go to the gym twice a week, I do yoga every week, I run and just did a 5k recently (slow but steady). I work at a desk though and not in a position to easily get 10k steps in a day.

My dh is very, very, very, very anti. He is very old school and of the "well just don't eat junk", "just run 10k", "that's cheating". We had a chat about what I was uncovering about food and my feelings the other day and he just seemed to get annoyed with me about it. He is also the one harping on about being healthy and living longer.

So now with that I feel like I need to prove him wrong now, lol.

I'm currently 94kg, 5 foot 6... my lowest since I was in my early 20s was about 72kg. I lost that doing keto, and then maintained going back to regular eating going the gym, but then Covid happened.

Anyway, long post but looking forward to sharing journeys and support :)

@saywhaaaaaat I'm with Asda, ordered my second pen and the e-mail said 'If you need to submit photo's' but I didn't for Pen 2.
Depends who you are with, but my account shows me if additional information is required. I'm expecting checks for pen 4 I think?

Daisymoll007 · 05/08/2025 12:07

Have a bit of a pain in lower back left side….could this be constipation I am passing stools but maybe buildup? Thanks week 2 day 2 for me…

Bluefloor · 05/08/2025 12:44

I’m 4 days in now, can’t say I’ve felt much effect good or bad, apart from feeling sore a couple of days ago. Anyone else not convinced it’s kicked in for them.

I'm aiming for 100g. I've read so many books, watched so many youtubes and listened to so many podcasts and it's so overhwhelming.

I've just ordered my second pen, kept at 2.5mg and waiting for it to be prescribed. Hoping it arrives quickly though as I'm going to be away on thursday to Sunday, eeek.

I will try to up it a bit more - looking like 98g for today. Using MFP to keep track.

Fingers crossed your pen arrives on time. I’m going to a nurse prescriber at a weight loss clinic every 4 weeks and felt a relief just being handed it there and then a plus she went through the first injection with me and checks in weekly - downside is it’s expensive. Seeing this as an investment in myself.

Due my 2nd jab tomorrow, today is the first day I've woken up hungry!

Same for me. I’ll be having my second jab tomorrow and I feel hungry today.

Mine seems to come in waves. Yesterday I ate normally and had barely any suppression (despite feeling really off otherwise) and today I can barely eat.

I’ve also noticed I don’t fancy much in the day and don’t fancy snacks but do want carbs in the evening.

Are you moving up to a higher dose for your second pen @saywhaaaaaat or have you opted to stick at the same dose for a bit longer? I'm with asda too but haven't ordered my next one yet (I'll be doing my third injection later this week so probably need to think about ordering the next one soon).

Stuck with 2.5mg as I'm losing and feel good, so won't change for the time being

@BluefloorI feel exactly the same! I just can’t be sure that I feel any different 🤔 I have been sticking to a deficit but I feel like that’s more me being determined than the jab itself!

AsteriaBuffy · 05/08/2025 15:25

I'm on W1 D7 (jab tomorrow) - suppression and (mild) side effects are def wearing off, feeling peckish today. Though less hungry than normal I think - will see how tea time goes tonight.

Bluefloor - I think it took a couple of days for suppression to properly kick in, but then it was def different, much less appetite than normal, and less tolerance for things like fizzy drinks and alcohol (burping, stomach pain etc).

I guess everyone has a different natural starting level and differ in how sensitive they are to the drug? It's also supposed to build up in your system through the first month, so that may make a difference.

Daftmum47 · 05/08/2025 16:30

Hi all,

W1D1:

I did my first jab last night too. I’m very squeamish about injecting myself and chose a very fleshy part of my thigh - not even 100% sure the needle pierced properly!

As at 4.30pm I’m on 805 calories and 40g of protein - reaching numbers like 80/100 will be a stretch for me - and feeling okay. Maybe a bit thirstier than normal.

I’ve read so much about Mounjaro, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s an element of placebo effect (which would be fine by me).

Bacon, avidado and cherry tomatoes for dinner, perhaps with a slice of toast. I’m not particularly trying to go under 1200 calories per day, that feels like enough of a deficit.

DandelionPockets · 05/08/2025 16:49

Really struggling with day 2 and 3 again this week (second week). Just zero appetite and find it hard to eat anything at all. Anyone else feel like their appetite is being surpressed too much?

Kernowmaidporth · 05/08/2025 19:31

Today is day 11. I have only started to feel hungry today. I have had such a reduction in my hunger it feels like magic. I’m just eating healthy no snacking and also trying to get my protein up. I felt fine first week no side effects. This week after the injection I felt sick on and off but it passed after two days. Had to force myself to eat to try and settle it down. I have lost 9 ILB

Blowingrasberries · 05/08/2025 22:07

Hi everyone - I’m new to this thread but started around same time as everyone else. On W2D4 and having quite an easy ride so far. A few less positive side effects (acid ruflux, spacey dizzy feeling for a day or two after injecting) but also some strange positive side effects (menopausal anxiety has gone, bladder less sensitive?!, less inflammation in my body post exercise). I’m tracking calories to make sure I eat 1400 per day to hit my protein and fibre goal. But….
are there any runners on here? I’m a keen long distance runner and I just can’t do the miles at the moment. I literally have nothing left in the tank after half my usual distance. Anyone else having the same issue?

TheArtfulCrow · 05/08/2025 22:24

Im on day 4 of my first week and had my first bit of junk food this evening. Had to lie down, had awful nausea! At least it'll keep me away from eating rubbish 🤣. Suppression and lack of food noise pretty good still, I get half way through a meal and my brain just tells Im full and if I try to eat more I get nauseous.

raspberryberet7 · 05/08/2025 23:04

Can I join please I’m starting tomorrow x

Rainbows41 · 05/08/2025 23:10

Hi, I'm a newbie. Two weeks in. 6-8 stone to lose.

Pollypot25 · 05/08/2025 23:43

Hi, I’d like to join you please! I’ve got my first pen in the fridge waiting for me to start next Monday once I get back from a trip away. I feel nervous and excited to get started. I’m a perimenopausal 49 year old. I’m 5’4’’ and 80kg so I’d like to get down to 57kg and want to achieve this before I turn 50. I’ve been trying to lose weight on my own with not much success. Meanwhile I’ve been hearing about lots of people around me - friends and friends of friends having great success with Mounjaro so after mulling it over for at least 6 months I’ve decided to give it a try. I think I need a meal plan to help stay on track especially to keep protein and fibre up. I already do a decent amount of exercise so I’m hoping I won’t feel too weak to carry on with that. I know I need to be really careful not to lose muscles mass. Looking forward to supporting each other through this!

mounjaring · 05/08/2025 23:50

Joining as I have just ordered Mounjaro tonight... I have no idea what I'm doing but the weight has to go, I've lost 3 stone either way Slimming World but hit a wall with disordered eating, food noise being my problem

Warmcupoftea · 06/08/2025 06:46

@Blowingrasberries l’m having the same issue with running or ‘ trying to run’ in my case. I’m a good 2 minutes slower per mile, when I wasn’t very fast to start with. It feels like there’s an extra layer of cotton wool to run through.

On day 8 now - I def feel that my body is adjusting to something, and not as energetic as usual. I don't want to put extra stress onto it (that's my excuse 😅) so gave been taking things fairly easy.

Weigh in day today- 1.5 lbs loss, not huge but right direction at least. Will try and do some moderate exercise this week.

Blowingrasberries · 06/08/2025 09:35

@Warmcupoftea you’ve described it perfectly. I’ll persevere as it’s my go-to stress buster and it seems to combat lethargy but I won’t be doing any marathons that’s for sure. I have started increasing weight bearing exercise as well to try and help. I hope it’s just temporary while we get used to being on mounjaro.
Has anyone noticed they’re dreaming more?

abitscaredarentI · 06/08/2025 09:49

I need to order the second pen. I'm thinking of getting the 5mg one but doing half does a I'm feeling good, but having the option the move up if needed.
Someone have the click chart on another thread but I can't find it
