New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Week 1 - 5lbs
Week 2 - 1lb

Have to admit I'm slightly disappointed this week even though 6lbs in 2 weeks is really good.

Current weight 12 stone 12.5lbs
Target - to be 10 stone 'something'

In reality, I should be 9 stone for my height but I'd be delighted with something in the 10s so I'll aim for another 2 stone, preferably by Xmas.

If you’re disappointed, I have to wonder what you were expecting?
6lb in 2 weeks is a lot.

I said that 6lbs in 2 weeks is really good in my post. I'm disappointed with 1lb this week. I was hoping for 2. It is what it is though and overall I know the combined two weeks loss is good.

MeridaBrave · 29/07/2025 22:19

zerofeeling · 29/07/2025 21:24

That's exactly what I was hoping for ☹️ I knew a certain amount of willpower would be required but I just needed some extra help which I hoped MJ would provide because I've been trying and failing so many times since January.

I've decided to go ahead and do next week's 2.5 jab tonight. If I come back here tomorrow complaining about side effects feel free to tell me to belt up!

Yup. I’ve also been trying and failing since January. I’m not even sure I need the higher dose (next pen is 5mg). I’m going to do the bonus dose this week and decide next week, might do 3.75 or 3.33 which would mean the pen gives 6 doses.

OP posts:
Radioundermypillow · 30/07/2025 05:48

The ability to fiddle about with the doses on MJ, and the golden dose, is quite appealing. Can't do any of that on Wegovy and my natural greediness has kicked back in quite strongly this week. Still, I'm going to stay on the lowest dose for another month and work on my lifestyle and food choices.

SW 99.6kg
CW 93.5kg
Total loss 6.1kg
Lost 1.2kg this week so am pleased with that. I had noticed hunger and food noise had come back quite a bit. Not bad enough that I made any unhealthy food choices but I was definitely thinking about food more!
Starting my 5mg pen so hoping for no side effects!
I’m so close to loosing a stone and am definitely noticing a difference in my clothes.

Warmcupoftea · 30/07/2025 07:29

W2 day 2, i’ve taken the second jab of 2.5 mg.

I’ve realised I quite like being on Mounjaro because the food noise has just disappeared. Previously, I’ve successfully lost weight before by doing keto or food combining, but my issue is that the weight always comes back plus more particularly when life throws ‘difficult situations’ at me.

I’m logging my calories and exercise and hope to keep this habit up as it gets boring quite quickly!

CookieQueen1986 · 30/07/2025 08:24

Weigh in day for me.
After 4 weeks of Mounjaro:

SW: 13 stone 5.5 lbs
CW: 12 stone 6 lbs

VERY happy with that!!

Warmcupoftea · 30/07/2025 08:44

@CookieQueen1986 Thats amazing ! Well done you!

Brightonbelly · 30/07/2025 08:54

Weigh in day for me too! Just the first week but lost 2.5kg so very happy about that (although don’t expect it to keep going at that rate!)

I have a wedding today so delaying my second dose until night. Still getting reasonable appetite suppression and mild nausea from the first dose so rather not have bad side effects today!

Sux2buthen · 30/07/2025 09:15

Im really pleased with that, some of my friends are losing more and more quickly but I’m older and happy to go at a steady pace; I do see that that’s still quite rapid. Most of my loss was the first three weeks. I’m staying on 2.5 at the moment, I had SE the first two weeks and they’ve settled so I want to see how i do feeling fairly normal again. If losses stop I’ll have a rethink.
I was using mechanical scales and was disappointed with how slowly it was going and not moving so I got some digital and they’re giving drastically different numbers so I’m sticking with the digital now

Goid luck everyone, it’s not easy but being healthier is worth it

mummymeister · 30/07/2025 09:36

I have now done just over 4 weeks and will be staying at 2.5 for a while because I am pleased with the loss and dont want to have a massive loss followed by a rebound gain when I stop using the drug.

wk 1 - 3lbs
wk 2 - 2lbs
wk3 - 2lbs
wk 4 1.5lbs

Providing I lose 1 to 2lbs a week then I will stay on 2.5 because its working well for me. the constipation is a bit of a bore but beginning to manage that better now as well. I have also added in more exercise because I feel better and will keep doing that. Long way to go but should be near my goal weight by the new year if I keep on this track.

Rallentanda · 30/07/2025 10:18

I got a 5mg pen for next month: barely lost anything this past week and I'm curious to see how it goes. Also happy to be losing slowly, but there's a cost involved! If it was half a pound a week (as it was this week) then it might not be worth the money for me iyswim.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 30/07/2025 10:26

I think I might get another 2.5mg pen for next month and see how I go. If I use the 5th dose from my current pen, and then the first 2.5mg from the new pen, I still have the option of increasing to 5mg for a couple of weeks with what will be in the new pen if I find that 2.5mg stops working. I'll then finish that pen (including bonus dose) at 8 weeks after starting so as far as my provider is concerned I'll be due a new pen (6 weeks of 2.5 and 2 weeks of 5).

Periperi2025 · 30/07/2025 11:28

Any other super supressors on here? Are you sticking at the same dose for now?

I started on 1.25mg (because i'm a massive chicken and was scared about side effects having previously suffered HG). My plan had been to take 2.5mg on W2, but my appetite was severly supressed for 4 days, with a full on sugar aversion, and I had to force myself to get many calories in at all. So have stuck at 1.25mg for now. Side effect wise i just had some non-sulphur belching (so could be worse!!).

On W3 i had slightly more appetite for last 3 days of cycle, so tried to get some more calories into me, but ended up with diarhoea, I think it wasn't the best calories - a decent quality steak pasty for lunch on Friday (didn't eat it all, and had a very light tea), on saturday evening i had a Charlie Bigham Tikka Massala which i had no intention of eating it all, but after half still felt mildly hungry so figured it would be a good oppurtunity to get some calories and therefore energy so ate most of it, sunday i had a small amount of hospital canteen stodge for lunch. So lesson learned, and will have to be much more careful when trying to increase calorie intake a little.

I've lost 15lb in 3 weeks. On W4 now, but weigh in is tomorrow (I've ended up out of synch), although i'm currently on my period, so not expecting much loss this week, and probably bigger loss next week as i'm like a sponge for retaining water on my period.

PS. Anyone elses dogs loving the new mounjaro lifestyle and all the yummy leftovers?!

Bunnie22 · 30/07/2025 12:24

I ordered my first pen from Medexpress, no problems. I've tried to order my second pen from 3 different, alternative, suppliers this morning because they are all cheaper. All 3 have turned me down because my BMI is now under 30 (it's 29!), even though I've stated on the consultation form that I've already been taking it for a month from another supplier and this is a follow-on.

Has anybody else had this problem? What do I have to do to get my next pen, lie about my weight or something?

I read on Reddit that suppliers are putting more stringent requirements in place partly because the drug, which is made in Ireland apparently, soon will be subject to tariffs going into the USA. So the US has been buying up what it can ahead of that, making supplies more scarce.

I have no idea if that's true but what a palaver. Can stay with MedExpress?

Yes, I e ordered through them again, although it was a lot more expensive. Just waiting to see if they turn me down too......

Nellieinthebarn · 30/07/2025 13:11

I decided to do a second month on 2.5mg as I was losing a nice 2kg a week, and it was working well.

I am on day 4 of week 5, so the first week of the second pen.

I am fucking starving. I think I made a mistake.

I am going to try and order my next supply a bit earlier as soon as I get paid, and change up.

I have read that you shouldn't double up the 2.5mg to make a 5 mg dose, but I don't understand why this would be a problem. Does anyone know?

daisydreamies · 30/07/2025 13:21

I forgot how intense the hunger suppression is on 5mg. I took dose 2 and all I’ve had to eat is a tiiiiny slice of cheesecake, gone in two teaspoons tiny (it’s been in the fridge for a few days and it needs to go haha) and I can’t even stomach the thought of eating anything else.

I’m probably going to skip lunch so I can eat dinner later. At least then my only meal is decent and not a sandwich or porridge. Last week I’d eat lunch and that was all I had for the day

It shouldn’t be a problem. The advice is probably there for when you’re on your first month so you don’t jump up strengths/sizes (whatever you call it lol) too quickly

Do you mean at the injection site? If so Yep 😆. Occasionally I manage to do one that doesn’t bruise, but most of them have. Someone else mentioned they inject in the upper arm and a friend got really concerned as they looked like finger marks.

But if you mean elsewhere then no, and excessive bruising without cause can be a sign of serious things, so you should talk to your doctor.

I’m losing 1kg a week on 2.5mg but I am eating 3 meals and a snack each day, circa 1,200 calories and 140g of protein (ie focus on protein), with quite a lot of exercise. If I ate less I would be hungry… I don’t mind the 1kg a week loss as I don’t have loads to lose and I want to preserve muscle. My next pen is a 5mg - I got it to give me the flexibility either way (I might take half doses).

I don’t see why you couldn’t do a double dose as long as being taking for 3-4 weeks at 2.5mg.

I’ve just moved supplier even though my BMI is under 27 now. I emailed them to explain that I was looking for a maintenance supplier etc

Its called Swift doctor, I found it on the Monj website.

@AirborneElephantno just random bruises. Not loads but enough that I’ve noticed. I’ve got young kids and I’m forever bashing myself so it might be that I’m just noticing more than I would have before. I’ve sent a message to medexpress to ask if it’s normal. From what I’ve seen online there’s quite a few people with the same so I’ll see what they say
