New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

I’ve unexpectedly put 2lb on this week- I’ve done nothing different food wise.

I am perimenopausal though, I’ve not had a period for 3 months and it feels like my body is trying to, so maybe it’s that.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 11/10/2025 09:34

W13D1 and I've gained for the first time - not a huge gain, and probably partly due to not being well, (and a bit constipated!), but still annoying, especially after a smaller than normal loss last week.

SW 139.7kg
W1 -3.8
W2 -1.9
W3 -1.7
W4 -0.9
W5 -1.5
W6 no change
W7 -2.3
W8 -1.2
W9 -1.3
W10 -0.3
W11 -2.0
W12 -0.6
W13 +0.7

Hi everyone
SW 12st 7lbs
CW 11st 2lbs
GW 10st

I started last weekend in June. I've lost every week, only small loses but I was 13 stone last Christmas , so I'm almost 2 stone lighter.
We were in London last week for a few days and needed new jeans, couldn't believe it when I easily fitted into size 12, can't remember last time I bought size 12. Don't want to buy more clothes as I have another stone to go.
I actually lost 2lbs in London as we walked so much and I just wasn't hungry.
Am going to return to 5mg as found 7.5mg reduced my appetite too much. Had a lovely meal in hotel but only managed small amount of the sea bass
Good to see people posting

Doireallywanttodothis · 11/10/2025 11:55

About to start week 14 here and 1lb off a 2st loss.
SW 14st 11
CW 12st 12
GW 10st

Cut through a three week stall by going up to 7.5mg - that was a rough couple of days but all settled now. 3lb lost this week so really pleased. Starting to be noticable now - people have commented, and I'm feeling good in myself and exercising as well. This is starting to feel, for the first time ever, like it might actually be achievable... we shall see.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 12/10/2025 16:50

Oh my god I am SO hungry again. It’s really annoying me. I’m not back into hardcore craving but food noise is absolutely a thing again. I’ve been jabbing every eight days to try and find a balance but surely that can’t be the reason I’m so hungry again?!? Nothing else has changed. But here we are at 5pm and I’ve already eaten 900 calories today and I am starving… I didn’t really want to go up a dose level when so close to target weight but may have to? I haven’t lost any weight in two weeks despite still being in deficit overall. It’s actually quite scary seeing what might happen in a post jab world of returning hunger and food noise 🙁

The half life of mounjaro is 5 days, so by 8 days levels in your body will get quite low. Have you tried injecting smaller amounts more frequently. I inject every 5 days and have more stable suppression as a result.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 12/10/2025 19:01

Wegovy not mounjaro for me so no option around smaller doses :(

Overtheatlantic · 12/10/2025 19:03

Can you eat some cashews or a slice of ham? Pure protein and not many calories. Also drink lots of water.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 12/10/2025 19:12

Vegetarian so protein never easy. But it’s more that what was working a few weeks ago is now beyond me!

I love the vegan Wondershake by the protein works. I have a shake every day. It’s the nicest protein shake and it’s vegan.

Does click counting not work for Wegovy? Just ask as someone I know told me they were microdosing on Wegovy.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 12/10/2025 19:25

I don’t think so. I suppose it’s to be expected that I get used to it after a while… but there is something scary about being consumed by hunger again. Though I am focusing on the wrong thing. I’m fifteen kilos down and so happy to be this weight. Just wanted to build in a tiny bit more leeway! Will see if it settles then maybe go up a dose if overwhelming ….

Why not? There are click charts on line, or have they changed the pen design?

stormageddmum · 12/10/2025 20:40

Something in the water this week as I've either maintained or failed a pound (scales were flicking and ended on +1lb but I'm choosing to round that down!)

Was going to jab 2.5mg every 5 days but felt a bit queasy after the first go so jabbed the next one after 7 days and now I'm waking up ravenous - whereas I'd previously been happy to skip breakfast. Plus a bit of food noise. Back to 5 days I think, or up to 3.75mg. I don't want to race up to 5 or above due to cost (saving money as next pen is 5 but I'd be counting clicks).

Kittkats · 14/10/2025 07:32

NSV! Measured myself today because scales haven’t moved this week. 38-28-38. This is exactly the same as 30 years ago age 18, despite being 6lb heavier!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 16/10/2025 07:27

My scales seem to be stuck! Virtually no change for nearly three weeks now, despite eating well within a calorie deficit (TDEE 2,200 ish, eating around 1200-1400 calories per day). After three weeks I can't blame it on hormone fluctuation etc any more so what the hell is going on?

Academicallyminded · 16/10/2025 10:51

Anyone on HRT while on Mounjaro? If yes, which types/forms works? I'm considering going on it, and my GP said she'd look up interaction of Mounjaro with particular types/forms of HRT and get back to me. But I suspect I have to do my own research though - as five minutes after I had told her I still have regular periods she said 'you haven't had a hysterectomy have you?!' Um, no! Thanks in advance.

I take femeston. And also the progesterone only pill. When I started on the jabs I had two periods, when I otherwise don't have any bleeding. So starting the jabs certainly messed up whichever of the two supresses my normal cycle. So it certainly had some manner of impact on hormones! But I think its the reverse of your situ, which is starting HRT when already on the jabs! I think with all of these things there is a certain amount of trial and error

I am resigning myself to the fact that the honeymoon is over… I am back to being hungry all the time. Notwithstanding lots of protein etc. Nothing else has changed. I’m just hungry. Luckily not craving sweet stuff but just stuff. It’s all consuming! I weigh more or less what I wanted to and planned to stay on same dose but had thought that would at least curb hunger. But no no. I am now dreading Christmas!

What are you eating in an average day and what dose are you on?

OP posts:
WishItWasDifferent25 · 16/10/2025 17:33

About 1500 calories. Lots of protein. Mid level dose. An hour of cardio almost every day. Yoga, strength training. In short exactly what I have done since July and not felt hunger and lost a kilo a week. Literally nothing has changed. I have no desire to change my diet up as this works for me. So maybe this is just where I was meant to end up.

How much protein is lots of protein?

How much resistance training are you doing?

Very annoying. I’m not hungry but finding it harder not to snack. But I am not at goal weight and I think my body doesn’t want to lose any more fat.

A friend of mine on it, just told she just plans to stay on it for life, like her thyroid meds. I really don't want to - also because I miss the interest in food/cooking :( Does the food noise really come back with a vengeance?

Thanks! Maybe I should wait until I'm off MJ to start HRT?

Actually when I said I’ve made no changes I did have a couple of eight day gaps instead of seven. Surely that’s not it!

protein- I eat peanut butter, protein shakes, tofu, falafel, pulses etc.

I do wonder if bodies just get to a point where they said sod this. I also feel suddenly saggy. Boobs a bit floppy, excess skin on stomach and thighs. Despite a yoga class most days and / or strength.

maybe we can only go so far before that’s just it. I’m a ‘healthy weight’ and would like to bloody stay there!
