New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

just had my first 5mg jab, so I’m wk5D1,
starting weight- 17stone
week 1 - 6lb
week 2 -1lb
week 3 - 1lb
week 4 - 3lb

week 4 was definitely the hardest week for me, period hormones really kicked my ass and I relied on lots of willpower.

Hello! Can I join?

First 2.5 jab 24 hours ago, starting weight 93.4kg.

I didn't think I'd feel the appetite suppression this quickly but I've just had to force myself to eat half a salad (prioritised the chicken).

I've had a bad belly today and also feeling really sicky - please assure me it passes!

It does! I found by D3/D4 I was feeling fine (but also starting to get hungry again)

Kittkats · 28/07/2025 19:48

I’m on W3 day5. So far no SE, apart from diarrhoea once in week 1 and once 2 days ago, both of which resolved with a dose of Imodium. I’m losing very well, nearly a stone despite not eating much differently to when dieting normally, but lose suppression around day 4 or 5. I’m due to go up to 5mg in just over a week and go on holiday in just over 3 weeks.
if I increase as planned am I likely to suddenly get side effects? Part of me thinks I should delay, but I’m not keen on the idea of reduced suppression when temptation increases!

Could try 3.75mg for one week and see how it goes?

@daisydreamiescan I ask what happens when you take your next jab? I’m on day 4 of my first jab, and only just emerging from some pretty awful nausea. I’m now feeling ok, but more hungry, and getting worried about my next dose. Am I likely to feel as bad the next time round, or will the side effects be a bit less. All the articles I’ve read and YT videos I’ve watched seem to really dismiss nausea as something very brief and mild and it goes away quickly, but that’s not how I’ve felt!

MeridaBrave · 28/07/2025 19:51

Maybe. Have people found less side effects that way? I’m just unsure how effective it’d be too, as 5mg is the first “therapeutic “ dose isn’t it?
Has anyone any experience, particularly if you didn’t have many SE on 2.5?

I envy your bad belly! I did first jab a week ago and absolutely nothing happened - no suppression at all, no side effects just another week of overeating 😭 Just done my second jab and really hoping I get some benefit this time.

Artymummy10 · 29/07/2025 06:39

Glad I found thread 2! A big NSV for me - I haven’t noticed that I look particularly different but I tried on a pair of jeans that were tight on me a few months ago. They are now so loose I’ve had to put a belt on with them to keep them up!

W5 D2

SW 12.7
CW 11.12
GW 10

was feeling really disappointed as didn't lose anything for a week. Jumped on scales this morning, lost 2lb. So pleased.
So that's 9lb in a month and a stone since January (before jabs)

Still struggling with constipation despite daily portion of prunes

Don’t despair @zerofeeling . 2.5mg is a sub-clinical dose. Yes, some people respond very well and get benefits right from the start. I found it helped my cravings but didn’t suppress appetite as such (although I found it much easier to stop when full). Others like you need a higher dose to feel the effects. I hope you get benefits soon. 💕

if you do get side effects you can always go back down a dose by counting clicks. I’ve just gone up to 5mg and while I don’t have side effects as such I do have a bit too much appetite suppression. It’s the first time I’ve actually struggled a bit to eat properly, which I wouldn’t have enjoyed on a holiday. If it doesn’t calm down next week I might go down to 3.75.

Sux2buthen · 29/07/2025 08:40

Mounjaro and toothache? Anyone else?
my friend had bad pain around week four and now I have. I googled it and apparently it’s a thing. Has anyone else been going through this?

Adelesky · 29/07/2025 10:03

Can anyone recommend a next supplied for 5mg.. waiting for IQ Doctor to review my photos from yesterday morning and not a word.. anyone have any experience with them? Thank you

@PourUsAGlass - thank you!! I’ll do that now 😁

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 29/07/2025 10:41

Week 2 and have lost 4pounds which is fine by me as I didn’t feel I’d lost anything !!

PourUsAGlass · 29/07/2025 10:42

Oh sorry, looks like we're not allowed to share codes on here, as my comment has been deleted. I didn't realise! x

W2 of wegovy and I feel almost completely normal, which is disappointing. I even had an apple turnover from Lidl this morning. Still, I feel fuller after eating so hopefully it will encourage smaller portions.

Constipated but reluctant to use anything as I spend the next three days with patients so don't want to have to rush to the loo!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 29/07/2025 13:26

W3D4 here and I'm getting a bit of food noise creeping back in. I'm currently working remotely in a cafe, I had a nice healthy lunch of soup but although I'm not hungry I'm also not overly full so I keep finding myself thinking about ordering something else. Stuck here until 5pm so will be relying on willpower (if I actually get hungry I will get something but right now it is definitely food noise rather than hunger). I'd been thinking about staying on 2.5mg for another pen but it seems I should probably go up to 5mg if I'm feeling like this. Willpower will only work for so long and I have a long journey ahead of me.

I think if you have an apple turnover for breakfast then you can’t really expect optimal weight loss results! From my limited experience with the jabs so far (I’m on week 5), it’s that they aren’t a cure all. You still have to use some willpower and try to eat as healthy as possible. And I’m saying that as someone who has been struggling over the last few days with period chocolate cravings. Unfortunately the mounjaro hasn’t got rid of them

Rallentanda · 29/07/2025 13:30

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I'm the same, but w3 d6 - the past 3 days have been up and down in terms of food noise. I think I will go up to 5mg as well.

ByLemonFish · 29/07/2025 13:34

I also struggled on wk 3

Went up to 3.75 then this week I increased to 5mg. No side effects other than constipation

Oh I totally agree. It's just been lovely not even wanting an apple turnover!!

It was 315 calories so I've just added it to my calories for the day.

I’ve just started avoiding the bakery aisle in the supermarket altogether. The temptation is too real 😂

I had to go there as have three adult kids at home atm. I'll have to remember to watch myself next time.
