New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

I've now done 13 injections (I did move up doses every 4 weeks) and I've hit the 2 stone weight Loss.

So I'm half way to target which is exciting.

Currently moaning about clothes not fitting and have had to pull out the vacuum sealed bags of old clothes that I'm glad I've kept.

Good evening All,

so this weeks weight loss is 2.1kg or 4.6lb, which I'm very pleased about after the gain of 0.7kg or 1.4lb after the all inclusive holiday.

I'm now at 54.4kg or 8st 6lb, I cant remember the last time I was this size, I feel so much better for all, all my recent bloods have lower markers I'm 47on my Hab1c and normal none diabetic level is 45!!!.

this has deffo been my wonder drug and I'm so glad that I was allowed the chance to try this route.

I'm still on 5mg and just week 12.

I hope that you all can see that the benefits being on this drug and how much our bodies are changing and thanking us for doing this course, as its not an easy one, with the side affects and daily battles and the need of feeling that you must justify doing this drug to others, with the sometimes sly eye roles or whispers when you walk away after saying your on the drug.( to me this is a very common thing due to not being as heavy as some others) but the lack of understanding on their behalf because it's not all about the weight its about our bodies and unseen health diagnosis.

just to say keep going all there is light at the end of the tunnel

Well done. That’s amazing.

I think I posted on this thread (but can’t remember) I decided to start MJ as I had a cholesterol of 5.1 in 2 successive blood tests. Both my parents take statins so it was inevitable unless I did something it would continue to rise. It’s been creeping up over past 3-4 years.

4 months in (July - Sept) and my cholesterol is now 3.6, including LDL and HDL both in normal range.

I now weigh 59kg (9 stone 4) at 163cm (5 4). Still losing but slowly. I’m quite muscular so I don’t look thin, upper body looks quite ripped now (less so on lower body). It’s really an amazing drug.

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 28/09/2025 22:08

My partner calls it a miracle drug- he’s watched me for over 20 years struggle with weight, eat the same as him and put on loads of weight when he stays the same.

I had jab 12 today and have ordered another 2.5 pen. I am loosing v slowly but v happy with that.

I’ve not told anyone I’m on it other than my partner, but I’ve only lost a stone so far so haven’t had to explain any weight loss away yet as it’s not that noticeable yet.

AirborneElephant · 29/09/2025 07:20

It is great, my partner was very concerned about it at first but has completely come round as he sees it helping me to eat far more healthily. I weighed in yesterday, 1.4kg loss last week and 0.4 kg the week before so still losing at an average of around 1kg a week. Overall I’ve been taking it for 13 weeks now and lost 16.5kg! I’ve dropped back down from 5mg to 3.75 this week as I want to slow down, I’m just 2.5kg away from goal.

daisydreamies · 29/09/2025 08:33

I've had my first big gain 😭 3lbs. Hunger suppression was not a thing last week so I was so hungry, that with a busy weekend meant two takeaways.

I'm trying not to beat myself up too much about it. I can use this experience for when I come off mj to have healthy quick food available. It is annoying that the weight came back on so quickly, it took me ages to lose those 3lbs.

Could be in part water weight due to carbs and salt, you’ll see, have 2 careful lower carb days and it will be gone.

I hope that's the case! I do plan on being careful over this week

CleanShirt · 29/09/2025 19:28

Just did my 9th jab. I'm 10kg down and in a size 14 for the first time in about a decade! I could cry! (And not only because I need money for new clothes).

MeridaBrave · 29/09/2025 20:43

Thought I’d share a photo as it was a personal best. I squatted 92.5kg this evening 😀

Doireallywanttodothis · 01/10/2025 17:53

That's amazing @MeridaBrave! Can't imagine ever being able to do that!

Also, thanks for your recommendation for SwiftDoctor - they have indeed dispatched my pen swiftly! Without the discount though not much cheaper than Voy (with my loyalty subscription) for 7.5mg (just stepping up as am noticing suppression waining sadly) so will mull over whether to cancel Voy or not for a pen or two longer.

WishItWasDifferent25 · 01/10/2025 20:44

I gave blood earlier and felt a bit faint so they insisted I ate quite a lot of junk before I could leave, a twirl, three bourbons and a handful of jelly beans. I have not eaten any of those things in months. It was really strange! I don’t miss them. I could eat them in a take it or leave it kind of way. And overall I’ve eaten more today than I have in months and that’s also strange. It’s probably no more than 2200 ish calories, or Friday night in the old days, but I def feel over stuffed and have no desire to do it again. Strangely reassuring!

Urgh. I always take my own food with now as that happened to me before when I was trying to diet. But sounds like it was enlightening.

W13D1. 0.6kg off this week, not sure why I get these fluctuations but it's still a good loss. I'm starting to find that the effects of the MJ are wearing off by about day 5 and I'm relying on will power for a couple of days, and the willpower is waning. I was thinking about increasing my dose (still on 2.5mg) but I woke up this morning (jabbed last night) with the same symptoms I always get - nausea and stomach cramps - which I don't want to get stronger if I go up, so I'm not sure what to do. Go up slowly? Jab more frequently? Or just use the willpower and hope that 5 days of good eating combined with 1 or two days where I relax slightly will still result in a good loss?

SW 139.7kg

Weigh-in day for me, down another 1lb which I am really happy with. That’s now 15.5lb lost over 12 weeks on 2.5. Starting pen 4 today still at the same dose as I am really happy to go slowly as long as it’s still headed in the same direction.

Why not jab every 5 days esp if on such a low dose. Use a 5mg pen otherwise it will be expensive!!

Yes, I think that might be the way to go. I'll give it a try this week and see what happens.

neveroutofthekitchen · 07/10/2025 09:38

It's very quiet on here. Anyone still losing, or have people given up/reached their goal? I still have months to go yet!

I'm here, still losing, will be for a while! I wonder if we have less to say as MJ makes the losing so routine/simple - not much to talk about once we are in the swing of it!

It would be very motivating if people posted weight losses or NSV don't you think?
I've had a month with no weight loss as I went on holiday for nearly 3 weeks and reduced my dose of MJ over that time but I am back to where I was now and moving forward with gusto!

I've been posting my losses but do sometimes worry that it seems like showing off/might be demotivating if people are struggling. Glad to hear you've got back on track and are feeling good!

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 07/10/2025 12:53

I'm still here. I started on 1st July and have lost 29lb.

SW was 12st 8.5 (176.5lb)
CW is 10st 7.5lb (147.5lb)

My target weight is 8st 10lb (I'm only 5ft 2) so I have 25.5lb to go. But thankfully past the half way point which helps frame it better.

I did lose weight on holiday. I was away for 14 days and lost 4lb in those 2 weeks just like I do at home.

I've been lucky with no loose skin so far. I did have a tummy tuck previously so my waist is quite small compared to the rest of me. It measures 28in so I look odd with my massive rest of me 🙄

I don't always update here because I am one of the women who suffer horrendous water retention and so my weight fluctuates by about 5lb between ovulation and period starting sadly.

Brightonbelly · 07/10/2025 14:59

Still here too.
SW (22/7) 90kg
CW 75kg

Another 5kg to ‘normal’ bmi and about 10-15 to target. I hold a lot of weight around my waist so scales still showing high fat percentage and think I’ll need to get to a bmi of 21 or 22 before that evens off a bit

Weight loss slowed down to around 0.5-0.8 kg per week and I’ve never gone above 3.75. But I’m happy with that as can work on my fitness at the same time.
NSV- wearing a size 12 dress today!
Would love to hear how others getting on

Academicallyminded · 07/10/2025 15:06

SW (16/7): 76 kgs
CW: 68.2 kgs
1 kg to normal BMI and about 4-5 to target; would like to get my fat percentage down to 25-27% (currently 30%).

Am getting into most of my size 12 clothes now, which is great! I will start tapering down after the current (first) 5mg pen. Don't mind if weight loss slows down to the finish line. Am beginning to feel a bit tired, and would rather be eating more and feeling more energetic.

Well done to all of you for your great progress!
