New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Thanks @MeridaBrave - they'll be my next port of call then if I can't resolve things with PillSphere. Apparently my weight verification call wasn't showing up in the consultant's calendar - despite them emailing the link to me!

Just a bit of a vent really. Just started my second 5mg pen with Voy. Have been really pleased with them and their customer service but I don't really need the extra support so thought I would shop around and see if I could get my next pen for a bit less. Tried Pharmacy2U who took my money immediately but then queried a mention of an eating disorder on my medical record when I was 16. I paid £30 to get a letter from my doctor stating (correctly) it was 'anorexic tendencies' rather than a diagnosed eating disorder and that no further input had been needed since then. They then sat on that info for a week until I complained and then they cancelled my order due to a 'history of eating disorders'. I get it that they have their prescribing rules but... and they still haven't refunded me yet. I then tried IQDoctor, this was my bad, I put an old card in at check-in by mistake so the order was rejected but now they say I'm not a new customer so I can't use a code. I'm now trying PillSorted. Did their weight verifications videos, haven't received an email to say whether they submitted okay/were acceptable so thought I'd better just book the Zoom and then no-one turned up on it! So have now had to email them to ask what is going on. Think I might just suck up the higher price with Voy who have never given me any issues at all!

I had a poor experience with Bolt when I wanted to save money from Voy. They delivered 4 days early when no one was in, they sent it signed for so Royal Mail.took it away and I eventually got it warm after 6 days. They absolutely insisted it was safe to use. Ive gone back to Voy, I'd rather pay extra for it to be reliable!

Yes, I think this is where I'm now at! Sorry Bolt weren't any good either.

It's so frustrating but I guess it's true that you get what you pay for! I just don't have time for chasing suppliers, endless phones calls and issues etc. I appreciate I'm lucky that I can afford it, so I'm sticking with Voy as they've been excellent since day one.

Regarding Mounjaro mimics GLP-1 hormones which affect a range of things including insulin sensitivity and metabolism.

I have an interesting observation from this week.

I have a high calorie deficit (at least 1000 cal) with no carbs, no fat, whole foods from scratch. I usually lose 3-4 lb per week (from a 40+ BMI I should add).

This last week has been incredibly stressful, sustained every day at work. I've eaten no differently. My loss is 1lb.

My thinking is increased cortisol, staying at high levels all week (I have cried at the stress of the week two mornings this week). This has put my body into alert mode - it is thinking something is wrong, we need to protect resources here, and so my metabolism has slowed.

I may be completely wrong, but that is how I imagine my body to be reacting. Seems logical to me.

The stress levels at work will be decreasing. I'm acknowledging this as healthy and necessary stress because I'm challenging myself way out of my comfort zone. All part of growth. So I'm currently not concerned by the decreased rate of weight loss. But I hope it doesn't continue for you long.

I know if I wasn't on WLI I'd be eating all the biscuits and chocolate in trying to cope with the stress. So I'm definitely benefitting still.

I've had an interesting experience. My suppression has generally been good and MJ has felt like a miracle drug... except this week. I have had an incredibly stressful week at work and suddenly it's like the Mounjaro has completely stopped working.
I'm learning so much about my body just from how it is reacting to this drug. It seems cortisol may ne a huge factor in my overeating

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 20/09/2025 06:27

As expected, a smaller loss this week. Not totally sure why, as although I haven't done as much exercise I also haven't had as many calories. Anyway, a loss is a loss, I just would have liked another 100g as that would have been an even 15kg off in 10 weeks but never mind, I can round up!

SW 139.7kg
W1 -3.8
W2 -1.9
W3 -1.7
W4 -0.9
W5 -1.5
W6 no change
W7 -2.3
W8 -1.2
W9 -1.3
W10 -0.3

Nellieinthebarn · 20/09/2025 11:17

No loss this week, to be expected really. We have a house guest who has a restricted diet (ASD) and to make life easier for me, and so he doesn't feel awkward eating different things, I've been doing the meals he does eat for everyone. Pizza, with salad for me and DH (I only had one slice) Fish fingers and oven chips, ham sandwiches on white bread. You get the idea. All quite beige and carby. Hopefully, its mostly water retention from the carbs, but at least I didn't put any on!

He's going home today, so its back on the low carb, high protein loads of veg bandwagon starting after today's lunch. (Roast gammon, roast spuds and frozen peas)

I felt it was more important that he feels comfortable than me sticking to my diet for just this week. Bless his heart, he is very conscious of causing problems with his food preferences, and tbh, I did quite enjoy those oven chips!

Kittkats · 20/09/2025 20:20

I’m on week 7 of 5mg (4 doses plus GD from a 5mg, 2 5mg doses from a 7.5mg).
I jabbed yesterday but I’m not feeling much supression. Can anyone with Shotsy advise how my levels would look this week if I jabbed again with 2.5mg today or tomorrow (Sunday), then stepped up to 7.5 next Saturday?
I don’t want too steep an increase but with a pen and a half left I don’t want loss to stall!

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 20/09/2025 23:53

I lost 1.25lb this week, taking me to a 12.25lb weight loss in 11 weeks. Hopefully I can get to the stone weight loss by the end of this month 🤞🏻

You order monthly and then can take a break of up to a year and start again. The one I use alllows ad hoc ordering of 2.5mg pens

I arrived home in the early hours of this morning from a 2 wewk all inclusive holiday.

The scales this morning showed a 4lb loss in those 2 weeks. That brings my Total weight Loss to over 26lb since my first injection on 1st July.

CloudyYellow · 21/09/2025 14:59

Just about to take 10th injection. Have lost 1st 11.5 Ibs on 1200-1400 calories a day.

A bit nervous as today will be first 5 mg injection but had 4.5 mg last week with no side effects.

Did 4 weeks of 2.5 mg followed by 4 weeks of 3.75 mg and 1 week of 4.5 mg.

Hi! You can put your details into this and it'll tell you your levels

GLP-1 Plotter - Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) & Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) Dose Calculator https://share.google/KWHt4URoR7oEMzCOh

Hi, is there a way to see what happens if I use 2.5mg 2 or 3 days after the 5mg? I can only get it to allow the same dose in a week (so 2x 5mg or 2x2.5mg are ok) and only regular intervals (so every 2 days, but not a one off top up)

1023nina · 21/09/2025 22:17

so 10 day all inclusive holiday returned yesterday took jab when I was away.....drank every night I only drink on special occasions and when away,....came back and im back upto 56kg from 55.3kg so a slight gain of 0.7kg around 2lb mark TBH im well impressed with myself is did over indulge in the afters, and yes I felt rough as hell with my sugar levels, so did watch within reason after the 4th day of sugar levels showing an increase,

so today was a get back on it, no drink no afters and my jab.
sugar levels have dropped and settled today too,

I hope this just shows that you can have time off and get straight back on it. x

gallivantsaregood · 21/09/2025 22:29

@Kittkatsyou can change the dosing schedule to whatever you want.

I can’t get it to work for me. Not sure whether to top up Fridays 5mg with an extra 2.5 or wait and go up to 7.5 this Friday.
Has anyone any experience?

Kittkats · 22/09/2025 13:19

Ok, never mind! After sts last week and decreased suppression I’m now magically another 4lb down, meaning I’m at the goal weight I was aiming for initially.
I’m now thinking there may be no need to increase dose.
Still a bit of flab on my tummy so I think I’ll aim to lose another 7lb which should take me to bang in the middle of the healthy BMI range.

Academicallyminded · 22/09/2025 15:50

I went up to 5mg, no side effects at all, even less than when I started (mild), so pleased about that. And, the suppression has been very good. However, I've lost all joy in food (had some interest in food/cooking on 2.5mg) and can't even be bothered to cook. My partner who is a big foodie is suffering and a bit puzzled (he doesn't know I'm on MJ, secret jabber)! I'm eating what is easy to find/around - eggs/quorn sausages/greek yoghurt/fruit/chickpea/veg/edamame - and weight loss has stalled too (after 6kgs on MJ and 2kgs before by myself, and I only have a few more kgs to go, so not bad overall). Not sure if anyone else is having this experience - complete loss of interest and joy in food/cooking?

MeridaBrave · 25/09/2025 18:56

It’s been Jewish new year and I thought could be useful to report back as might help others over Christmas.

I was very worried about eating too much, we had DH’s family for a late lunch on Tuesday, around 20 including quite a lot of kids. I made vegetable soup, roast chicken roast beef roast potatoes and lots of healthy oil free veg. I put it out in the kitchen so everyone could serve themselves. I didn’t eat breakfast (so was hungry) piled my plate up with chicken and lots of the veg. I did have a taste of dessert and some chocolate (only DH knows about the WLI although they all noticed I’ve lost weight). I was poured some wine but I didn’t end up drinking it.
I ended up not being able to eat dinner (told teenage DC that I had a stomach ache).

Ate less the next day. And didn’t gain weight. so all good. Phew!!

Can I ask others for some advice please? I’m about 3 months in and on my second 5mg pen as had almost complete supression when I moved up from 2.5mg and couldn’t really eat at all. I’ve lost nearly 2 stone and about another half a stone to go.
Last week, which was Joan 4 in the pen I got hit with horrific diarrhoea and to a lesser extent vomiting. It came on suddenly in the night and wiped me out for about 3 days. I assumed it was a bug as felt terrible but passed quite quickly. I delayed my jab by 3 days to give myself some time to stabilise as I hadn’t really kept anything down in the week then 3 days later it strikes again. I don’t feel as bad but still bloody uncomfortable and inconvenient.

It’s exactly the same time after my jab last week so now inclined to think it is a side effect. Has any one had severe side effects strike after so long when not going up a dose? Any tips gratefully received as I’d like to do one more pen but I can’t if this continues as it’s intolerable.

Oh no. I’ve stayed on 2.5mg (am using 5mg pen).

complete suppression isn’t ideal. You need to eat at least 120g protein and at least 1,000 calories or you’ll lose muscle - which will make weight gain afterwards more likely. Can you not go back to 2.5mg?
