First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

complete suppression isn’t ideal. You need to eat at least 120g protein and at least 1,000 calories or you’ll lose muscle - which will make weight gain afterwards more likely. Can you not go back to 2.5mg?

Thanks @MeridaBrave. The supression has settled a bit and I am really making sure I eat enough and focusing on protein. I will have to go back down if this is just how it affects me, was just hoping it might resolve quickly.

The sudden effects were probably related to something you ate, did you have a higher fat day or eat something heavy? Otherwise it could be a bug. I’d second going back down though, I really do think it’s much better long term to use the drug to take the edge off and make sticking to a healthy diet a bit easier rather than chasing suppression.

I agree - better to go back down slowly and have some appetite. I don't have side effects but I am finding the suppression so effective I am not eating enough of the good things (lots of veggies/fruits that I used to before just because it fills me up too much). Better to find a healthy medium that sets you up for good habits after MJ. Good luck!

Morning all, I’ve joined the gang in September, still only on week one. I reopened my fitness pal after a year or two so interesting to have that historical log of my weight, I’ve always been a size 12/14 up until covid. I just haven’t been able to reduce down since then, so giving it a go with this as I’m approaching menopause, in a much more sedate job, currently recovering from a knee ligament injury all of which has not been helping my efforts without mounjaro. I’m 5’10, 14:12 sw, goal is 11:7 and encouraging my husband to lose the same. I’m finding the suppression really good for snacking and reducing portion sizes great, I’m not thinking I need to raid the snack cupboard. Am hoping this continues, I’m working on increasing protein and really focusing on upping my water intake. The only side effects so far is feeling a little nauseous.

Just about to order a new pen and I'm having a little internal dilemma about what strength to order. I'm on 2.5mg and it is working for me but not sure if it will always be that way. I have a spare 2.5mg on my fridge that I ordered from a different pharmacy when things were going mad and I was worried about not getting any, so I have enough 2.5mg to keep me going for a while (taking the second dose from my current pen tonight so that's 8 doses total in stock). I was all set to order another 2.5mg, but the 5mg is only £20 more so I'm wondering if it is worth getting that to have the option of increasing doses further down the line. I'm not overly risk averse so would be open to using a pen for slightly over the 30 days but not massively. Any thoughts?

It depends if you are comfortable keeping the pen longer than 30 days. If so I’d order the 5mg and use part doses- that’s what I’m doing but I know not everyone is happy to do the same

I’m on week 8 of a 5mg pen. It still seems to be effective. I have 2 golden doses left 😀

Maybe I'll order the 5mg, keep it in my stock, then when I get to the end of my 2.5mg stock I'll see how I feel. Might also use the 2.5mg to titrate up if I feel suppression waning. It just seems silly not to order twice as much (in terms of mg) for only £20 more

It's 0.45ml - a full dose of 60 clicks is 0.6mls.

Hey! It's been a while - progress is slow for me but finally reached one stone off last week! I also ordered up - 5mg for my.next pen but planning to continue doing 2.5mg or maybe up it to 3.75mg. Happy to go over 30 days in the fridge.

Suppression has been good on low dose - like that I still enjoying food but clearly have not learned any good habits because it's all been really off this week - practically no suppression off this Monday's jab (just feeling fuller a bit sooner when I eat) so have just jabbed again. Can't face weekend temptation!

Think this will take another 10 months. Can't believe some of you are at target! Obviously fantastic but I still feel like I've just started.

Bloody hell, just had my biggest loss for ages, and haven't really changed anything - even had fast food for all three meals yesterday (albeit modified from what I would normally have - McDonald's egg muffin for breakfast but no hash browns, McPlant for lunch but no fries, and takeaway chips for dinner but weighed out - it was not intentional to have two McDonald's in one day 🙈). But last week was a small loss so I guess it averages out. Now at 16.9kg (2st9) in 11 weeks.

I started in July with a bmi of 28 - and weighing 80kg. Am now at 72.3 kg and doing 2.5mg every 5 or 4 days.

I am supposed to go to something like 63 kg but I am not sure I want to be that skinny. I am happy with 69/70 kg so need to think about how to maintain.

It is amazing. I thought I had the worst week with low suppression / period cravings / kids' party (a fair few party rings have been mysteriously gobbled up) but I have just weighed myself and have lost 2lb! Just shows the insulin magic is working behind the scenes and whatever we are doing - weighing chips... habits are all a bit better than before! Hate the phrase 'journey' but it is!

Interesting re: 2.5mg every 4-5 days. Might be the way forward for me too.

I’m very nearly at my goal weight of 65 having started at 83. I’m feeling quite anxious about what happens next! I’m still injecting weekly - Wegovy so no clicks etc. I’m on 1mg so three up from where I started and not the highest dose by far. I like looking like this. I wouldn’t say I feel great as I used to be extremely fit and had energy from eating a lot! Now I don’t eat as much I don’t feel as energetic! I want to eat a bit more but am worried it will get out of control easily. I still couldn’t eat a big meal but could def eat a little more, I could easily snack more. I just feel like once I relax slightly I’ll expand! And I am in no way ready to say no jabs…. So do I go down a dose or stay the same or increase interval? It felt very straightforward up until now but the next stage is scary!

Stuck at 77kg, I really seem to have hit a plateau. I may have to go up to 5mg, but I am on holiday next week, and don't want a repeat of the awful side effects I experienced last time I tried 5mg. I will do another 3.75 this week, and see how I go from there. Feeling a bit disheartened tbh. I hoped to be a bit slimmer than this for my holiday. Onwards and upwards.

I'm back from a 2 week holiday. I was on 3.75mg when I went away, but wanted less suppression so that I could eat meals with DH, and I dropped back to 2.5mg whilst I was away.
Gained 1.5lb on holiday, which I was happy about, as I had the occasional drink or two and definitely ate more than at home. However I do think some of any holiday gain is eating extra salt which causes water retention. We don't add salt to our food at home and cook from scratch.
I'm happy to report that I've now lost the holiday gain, plus an extra pound.

So my goal was 62kg (ie 10kg off) and I’m now 59kg. I’ve a photoshoot (!! - I was very muscular under the fat now I just look muscular) for 19 October so i’m not changing anything until then.

Despite eating less I’ve got loads of energy (can’t see any difference) and have continued lifting weights / cardio throughout (no difference on leg weights but on bench press I’ve lost a little strength).

i’ve only taken 2.5mg this whole time so will drop down to a lower amount. I suggest you drop down very gradually. Or space the doses would also work.

If you hit a plateau might be an idea to log everything you eat for a week? Aim to eat above 120g protein and below 120g -150g carbs.
