New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Hey all,

Just an update as I’ve just finished my 5mg Pen on Monday I took the golden dose. So I’m on week 10! It’s crazy because for the first 2 weeks of my 5mg pen, my appetite appeared to be coming back a little. But the for the past 2 weeks I have had absolutely no appetite. I can nibble on something small and I am completely stuffed for the rest of the day. This may seem positive but I’m actually weight training and struggling to fuel my body. I’ve already ordered a 7.5mg pen otherwise I may have stuck at 5 or dropped back to 2.5. Anyone else having this problem?

SW: 13stone 2lbs 83.5kg
CW: 12 stone 0lbs 76kg
GW: 11st 7lbs 67kg

I plan to stick to mounjaro until I reach my goal weight which I assume at the pace I’m going will be about 2-3 months. Then I will taper down to 2.5 for maintenance for a few months.

I meant to put my goal weight is 10 stone 7lbs🫣

Does anyone else keep getting surprised by the effects of MJ (positive ones!)? Just today I've had two revelatory moments - around lunchtime I was in a meeting, it was very long and by the time it finished I was getting quite hungry. There were some biscuits on the table, normally I would have absolutely had one to deal with the hunger but today it wasn't an issue, I was perfectly happy to wait. Then tonight, we had some tortilla chips in the kitchen, normally my absolute nemesis (as soon as I eat one I crave more and more until I've had half the bag), tonight I had one just to try it and couldn't be bothered eating any more. It doesn't matter how often these moment happen, each time it just feels like a miracle!

Rallentanda · 04/09/2025 12:25

The free space in your head where food thoughts used to be: it's astonishing. I wish I understood how the stomach and the brain are connected!

I have a SV and a NSV: today I weigh the same as I did three years ago. And I found a pair of trousers that I fit into again, meaning I don't have to go shopping quite so urgently. Both feel great.

Yes - exactly this. It’s just so much easier to resist or just have one. Happened to me since the first week.
i can take it or leave it.

So I was feeling really cold on 5mg and decided to split my dose on this pen to 2.5 every 5 days. Am on day 5 right now and the suppression is strong so gonna leave it to 7 days. The win win is my pen deffo last longer.

but it means I have to buy more needles.

I still think about food.

like I think about dinner and what I am cooking, and what I will eat for lunch. The difference is I can’t eat a lot. I feel full much quicker.

But I was never much of a snacker. It was my meal portion sizes I think that was problematic. That and menopause.

I still think about food in that way, what has gone is the more obsessive thoughts - before, if there were biscuits on the table in a meeting I would genuinely struggle to concentrate on the meeting because my head would be filled with thoughts of the biscuits - should I eat one, will people think I'm greedy if I'm first to eat one, is it ok to have another one, etc etc etc. Now, that's all gone, it's just quiet.

It’s like £13 for 100 pen needles. The good thing about split dosing is you can use the pen needles and you don’t have to use a proper needle like for the golden dose.

On Day 4 of my first 7.5 jab and the suppression is so strong! Yesterday managed eggs and about 4 meatballs. Today poached eggs at 12ish - the thought of anything for tea is not a pleasant one! May see how the rest of week/weekend is before second jab on Monday as tbh 5mg was great for me..

Nellieinthebarn · 04/09/2025 15:01

Having gone back down to 2.5mg last week, I have tried 3.75mg this week. I am hoping for a bit more suppression, and a bit less side effects than on 5mg!

I injected this morning, and have just had the headache so far. Fingers crossed it doesn't get much worse.

daisydreamies · 04/09/2025 19:31

If I was to go up to 7.5mg (hopefully not for a while, suppression is still good on 5mg), how would reducing clicks work? Would the pen last longer and I use the full amount of liquid or would I have a strange amount of liquid left?

I'm at a point on 5mg where I don't get any side effects and it's been so nice. I'd like to avoid it when going up, or at least have it not so bad.

I've seen this guy linked to on other threads - for click counting (and cost per jab!) https://www.vrgrowth.co.uk/mounjaro-clicks

So there is 240 clicks in pen. 4x 60.

So I would decide on a number of clicks that will add up to 240. eg 6 doses of 40 clicks.
40/60 x 7.5 is 5mg.

If you decide on 7 doses. That’s 34 clicks.
34/60 x 7.5 is 4.25g

etc

Ahh. okay. I understand. TBF I am like this and not so much anymore.. but i would have just elbowed my way to the first biscuit ha ha ha ..... And also the last one! I never kept snacks at home for this reason. If they are there.. I eat them, especially cheesy biscuits.. that was my nemesis .

thanks yeah.. I ordered and am suprised at how cheap they are

Extremely stressed with medexpress. I ordered on the 20th August and still awaiting clinical review, I’ve had numerous emails with them all promising my order and still nothing. I’m supposed to inject today. I don’t know what to do

Some people seem to have had good experiences with local chemists - if you have the funds to pay for another pen you might be able to get one today by going in person to a pharmacy that provides the service.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 06/09/2025 08:40

W9D1. Very happy with this week's loss - I weighed midweek and it wasn't looking great so I wasn't expecting a huge loss, just hoping for enough to hit 2 stone total, but I've gone about another pound past that 🥰. Total loss now 13.3kg/29lbs.

SW 139.7kg
W1 -3.8
W2 -1.9
W3 -1.7
W4 -0.9
W5 -1.5
W6 no change
W7 -2.3
W8 -1.2

Try calling Swift Doctor. They are competitive and I think now are taking new patients. They will let you move with a BMI I think down to 22/23 as long as you have evidence.

Weigh in day for me and I’ve put on the 1.25lb I lost last week. I’ve been eating the same as normal, so I don’t understand why the weigh gain 🤷‍♀️

Could it be hormonal? If you've eaten the same then that's the most likely explanation and it will hopefully come off next week.

Maybe. I’m perimenopausal and on day 71 of my cycle so have no idea when my period is due these days. I either have very long cycles like this one or cycles of about 12 days.

I really hate when this happens, and I have never managed to work out the cause!

Bodies can be such a nuisance
