New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

It’s actually just over a dose, eg 0.9ml not
0.6ml so take a dose next week and you can always take the last little bit to help tide you over.

Thank you so much! I'll do that

I have an unopened 7.5 pen in fridge, will it keep until expiry date if I don't open it?
I'm happy on 5mg for now

Yes

With keeping pens in the fridge, the only thing I would say is make sure you don't keep them in the door - opening and closing the fridge all the time means things in the door aren't at such a stable temperature.

Ah thank you, i have been keeping it in door, hadn't even thought about that

oh gosh.. I am also keeping in the door. Okay.. will put in the chiller.. a space I never use

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 02/09/2025 10:24

Mine are in the salad drawer, seems appropriate and no one else ever goes in there! 😉

I may be misunderstanding what you mean by the chiller, but don’t put them in any ice compartment or right up against the cooling elements (if you have the older type fridge where those are visible). It’s important it doesn’t freeze.

Mine is in door but it’s the spare fridge in utility room so it’s not opened as often so not worried.

So back from holiday and I didn’t gain or lose! That’s a win.

I did eat ice cream whenever the DC and DH had, and had dessert when the DC ordered but said no to pastries. We were in Greece so ate a lot of
Greek salad, but overall happy. Missed a jab as well, so did a late one today.

However DD (age 21) and DS (age 19) had a massive rant about WLI and people who lack willpower. DD’s best friend is very overweight and her dad is morbidly obese and they’ve discussed WLI which is why the topic came up. DH knows I am taking but, I just tried to point out that maybe her friends dad just doesn’t have the willpower to
lose weight.

That's fab!

Regarding your children, I wonder if you might be better off telling them (outside of one of those conversations) that you are on the jabs, and why, so that they have a better understanding. I get why it's hard, but listening to them having those rants must be hard too, and I doubt they would talk like that in front of you if they knew.

Be careful with the chiller as the milk sometimes freezes in there although it’s supposed to be above 3c.

Just checking in as I haven't in a while! Had a last minute holiday last week and have weighed today and gained 2lb , but I know that realistically this is likely to be water weight / natural fluctuations. Actually really happy with that - it gave me an insight into what a 'normal' diet could look like when I get to maintenance.
Took the golden dose for the first time yesterday and can't believe how easy it was, I'll definitely be doing that from now on. I've got 2 x 7.5 pens in the fridge and am debating staying on 5 a bit longer and counting clicks. I'm losing on 5, albeit slowly, but have no SE and feel like I can still eat well, feel some hunger and learn better habits rather than being unable to eat. Any advice from you lovely lot?

I definitely want to make sure I stay on as low a dose as possible - like you I think there is value in keeping those hunger signals so I can relearn how to eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. That said, I'm starting to think I might need to move up soon - although I've been losing well, the food noise is starting to come back (although I can dismiss it fairly easily) and I'm starting to be able to eat past the point of satiety. I think I'll keep an eye on the losses and make a decision based on that.

I'm similar, I think I could over eat now if I wanted to without feeling ill but at the moment I don't want to. On holiday I resisted dessert every day even though I could have eaten one, but did treat myself to a lovely danish pastry breakfast one day. I had a revelation that this is how slim people eat - saying yes to some treats but residing most!
I think like you I'll keep low until the point where the noise outweighs my willpower.

If the 5mg is working for you then stick with that. I’m still counting clicks from a 5mg pen as 2.5mg still working. I don’t plan on going up to 5mg. It’s best (and cheaper) to stay on a lower dose.

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 02/09/2025 22:48

Agree I think I'll carry on at 5 then I can increase if I feel it isn't working. I'd prefer to lose slowly I think there's more chance of keeping it off if I do!

I’ve decided to finally post on here for the first time ever. I’ve been lurking for some time, and like you all I started Mounjaro in June. I did slimming world in the past, put on weight after dealing with various life things. Tried slimming world again. I struggled due to being away from support network and migraines. Having always been a fan of food, being on Mounjaro has been a game changer. Like everyone, the lack of food noise is great. I can get on with my day without obsessing over food. I’m eating a lot better, but there are some changes to habits I need to make. I’ve always been a sporty person, but still put the weight on due to my awful diet. Starting to lose some weight has really helped me start to feel more positive. Shame the prices have gone up, but I’m grateful I’m in a position to just about be able to afford it. Keep posting your progress as it’s been keeping me motivated!

SW 14st 7lbs BMI 37.6
CW 13st 0lbs BMI 33.3

TW around 9st

Currently on 5mg

Artymummy10 · 03/09/2025 07:13

I haven’t checked in for a while so thought I should!
SW 99.6kg
CW 88.4kg
GW around 75kg
I’ve just started my second pen of 5mg and I’m trying to stay on that dose for as long as possible but I can really feel the appetite suppression is less than it was. I’m still loosing ok though so I’ll stay on it for now.
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but I seem to really plateau on the few days before ovulation. The scales didn’t move for nearly a week then dropped 2lb overnight when I had ovulated. It makes sense with hormone fluctuations but is interesting to know for future.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 03/09/2025 08:50

I have the 5mg pen which i took for first time last week - it has not agreed with me at all, someone did tell me on here how many clicks for 3.75mg but I can't find the post - can anyone tell me, I was due next dose last night but can't face doing another 5mg

A full dose is 60 clicks so 3.75mg will be 45 clicks (75% of the full dose).

Has anyone got any experience of telling friends about their weight loss on Mounjaro? It's got to the stage where I can see it. I have a friend who is about a size 20 and fiercely body positive - which is amazing. She prioritises strength and is incredibly sporty. There is no way she is not going to notice or have an opinion on this.

I was a bit cautious about telling people, but it turns out there are loads of people on it at work, so it's pretty normal here.

Hey all,

Just an update as I’ve just finished my 5mg Pen on Monday I took the golden dose. So I’m on week 10! It’s crazy because for the first 2 weeks of my 5mg pen, my appetite appeared to be coming back a little. But the for the past 2 weeks I have had absolutely no appetite. I can nibble on something small and I am completely stuffed for the rest of the day. This may seem positive but I’m actually weight training and struggling to fuel my body. I’ve already ordered a 7.5mg pen otherwise I may have stuck at 5 or dropped back to 2.5. Anyone else having this problem?

SW: 13stone 2lbs 83.5kg
CW: 12 stone 0lbs 76kg
GW: 11st 7lbs 67kg

I plan to stick to mounjaro until I reach my goal weight which I assume at the pace I’m going will be about 2-3 months. Then I will taper down to 2.5 for maintenance for a few months.

oh the chiller is a cold box in the fridge - like 2 degrees colder so would be good for meat or to quick chill drinks.

I have never seen it freeze but will keep an eye on it. Ty
