Mournjaro July Starters 2nd thread

New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

I’m now officially a stone down after starting at the end of July!

But I’ve been using Zava, and it’s £203 for a new 5mg. Any recommendations on where to try? I saw a few people recommend Juniper but their facebook ads are plastered in complaints.

Im about four pens away from target, I think, if the loss stays steady.

I have had no issues with Voy .
Stayed with them the whole time.
I ordered one pen from Juniper and a total nightmare experience.

Told me it was dispatched..it wasnt .
Next day told me it was being processed…it wasnt .
Then it was being sent urgent delivery …it wasnt .
By then after a week , i had enough and cancelled …then i got a tracking link !
Messaged them again ..they said it had been cancelled and on its way back to them .

Appalling as they had no idea what they were doing.

Never had an issue with Voy …but if i mention i have a code…i will get slaughtered again on here .

You can chose when you want delivery and ammend it.
You get a dispatch email, later a link and delivery of a cold pen next day

Swift is £169 for 5mg.

I've also had a good experience with Voy. I know they're a bit pricey but the service is great and I like the app. I ordered from Bolt last month to get the price down and had a terrible delivery experience. It came 5 days before the agreed delivery date so no one was home. Royal mail then took it away to retry delivery, but there was no one in the next day either. Bolt didn't seem to understand that we couldn't just change our work days at the drop of hat to accommodate their error. It was eventually delivered warm after 4 days and despite me sending them the Elli Lily manufacturers guidance on storage they insist that it's safe to use. Luckily among all this I hadn't got around to cancelling Voy (I'd put the date back in case Bolt didn't accept me) - it came chilled and on time as usual and I'm still battling Bolt for a refund. I'd rather pay the extra than deal with the hassle.

NaranjaDreams · 06/09/2025 18:36

Thanks all! Appreciate the recommendations.

(and the inspiration; you all convinced me to keep going!)

Thankyou, I may do that. Medexpress lady on the phone was quite rude so not impressed

Well knock me down with a feather it’s been prescribed 😏

Overtheatlantic · 06/09/2025 19:38

Has anyone lost weight in one breast but not the other? Mine are now asymmetrical 🤭

Nellieinthebarn · 06/09/2025 19:57

Well, this week I have lost the grand total of...200g. So basically nothing. 😂

On the other hand, I would normally have given up about 3 weeks ago, so its still a win that I am still trying.

I have also shrunk into 2 pairs of size 14 jeans to the point I can actually wear them all day. They are both from Wallis, so it may be that they go in for vanity sizing, but I'm not complaining. I couldn't get them past my thighs in June, its tangible evidence that I am slimmer.

200g is nearly half a pound so definitely not nothing!

My turn for a stall, I’ve put on 0.2kg this week. But to be fair the week did include two meals out and an all day boozy bbq, so was worth it! Back on the wagon this week.

My weight gain has slowed down but that’s to be expected as I’ve reached my goal.

I was 60.2kg this morning so that’s only 200g from goal, and a full 10kg less than what I started at.

I’m going to continue on current dose (2.5mg) for another month as I want to book gym progress photos. Then I’ll look at micro-dosing.

Well done @MeridaBrave , fabulous that you’ve reached goal. I’m overall very happy, I’m 14kg down from where I started, just 2 kg off a “healthy” bmi and 6-11 kg from goal depending on where I stop. And I feel that this week it really helped me not go off the rails completely. Yes, I overindulged for a few meals, but kept in control for the rest of the time rather than just going f it, it’s all ruined so I may as well eat chocolate. Currently feeling quite happy with how I look so I’ll probably land towards the heavier end of the goal range, I’m too old to look good skinny and I do have a fair bit of muscle. Hoping to lose most of the rest over September/ October and stay on a maintenance dose over the winter, then I’ll see.

Nellieinthebarn · 08/09/2025 13:00

@AirborneElephant Oh reading your post made me realise I haven't had the 'I've eaten whatever, I might as well jack it in and stuff myself' moments either! That's a fantastic difference to my normal attempts at dieting.

I am trying to re-frame the 'diet' into 'healthier choices' in my mind, so as to make it a more positive thing, rather than deprivation. Never before has this made a blind bit of difference. MJ is nothing short of miraculous.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 08/09/2025 13:32

Well done all for your losses to date. I have a very long road ahead of me so I hope you all hang around on this thread to keep me company until I join you at goal!

Thanks. I wouldn’t want to be skinny, more like lean or sculpted. My problem was never the exercise it was controlling the food intake! So I was very muscular under the fat! And because I worked out so much I wasn’t massively overweight, BMI crept towards 27 post menopause.

I’m being made redundant at end Sept so I have a 3 week break between jobs (new job starts 21 Oct) and a nice payout so I’ve decided to do a gym photoshoot. So this means i’ll continue to be very careful with food for another 6 weeks. I’ll end up undershooting my weight but I can gain it back later.

So Sw: 70.3kg
CW: 60.2kg

Photoshoot goal, I think 57kg?

I went up a dose last week and the higher dose is not surpressing anywhere near the same amount as the lower. How can this be!!! I am so bloody hungry all the time. I don’t have cravings etc, so haven’t eaten crap, but have needed to eat more overall so less weight loss. First time I’ve not lost a kilo a week. Why is this happening?!?

That’s so odd. You‘d expect higher suppression.

If you are hungry try eating large quantities of low cal food like brocolli. How many calories are you eating in a day.

I try and stick to 1500, and tend to do an hour of peloton and an hour of walking a day so can’t normally manage any less. Next dose was tomorrow but I’ve injected today to see if it helps!

Same here .
I went to 7.5 and only got suppression the second week and i have a feeling that was my fault anyway as i misjudged the amount of rice i did and ate too much .
First week and this week, totally fine .
Not sure what to do after my last dose this coming weekend

Catladyof7 · 08/09/2025 21:51

I only have 1000 calories a day too .
It said i need 1600 to maintain and 500 less to lose .
Only 5ft 1

1,500 is a good amount so annoying to still be hungry. How much fibre and protein? Maybe could increase?

No, sorry , i meant the last dose of 7.5 mg .
Not sure what dose to do as i have another 7.5mg pen and a 10mg pen but i think 10mg may be too much .

Cant stop as still got 2 stone to lose , will be on it a good while yet , after Xmas at a guess

Use the 7.5mg pen first? Or save if for when you titrate down?

Use the 10mg and take 8. 5. or carry on another month with 7.5
