New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Well, maintain confirmed for this week, so frustrating. I don't think I need to go up a dose as I'm not struggling to stick to my calories, just for some reason the scales haven't moved at all. I'll see how it goes next week and reassess, fingers crossed for a double loss 🤷

Can anyone suggest something small that I can eat first thing in the morning before exercising? I try and swim a few times a week before work and I don't want to do it on an empty stomach Normally I would have a banana but I'm finding I can't eat a whole one and it seems a waste to through away half a banana several times a week.

Have half a banana and freeze the other half for smoothies. Alternatively a handful of almonds (or any nuts) or berries give enough energy for me to exercise in the mornings

Bit of a milestone today. Exactly two months into my weight loss journey and down two stone 🎉 🥳. Half way there!

Big test for me today - I'm working a night shift tonight and normally that would be a trigger for bad eating habits - snacking due to boredom if we aren't busy, reaching for carbs/sugar due to tiredness the next day, etc. It will be interesting to see how being on MJ affects that. I had a big lunch (BBQ) so am not going to have dinner before my shift like I would do normally, instead I'm taking some leftovers with me to hopefully eat around 10/11 pm (depending on what's happening and if I can take 5 mins to eat). I'm then planning to eat my normal breakfast before going to bed tomorrow morning (either at work or at home depending on how it goes).

1023nina · 24/08/2025 18:31

2lb loss again this week 3rd week of 5mg.

took 4th dosage yesterday,
so my pattern is 24 hrs after injection, my body feels completely knackard and I need a good 3 hrs sleep that im totally knocked out for, I wake up fine with just a very diabetic mouth taste.

this is i would say my only side affect that I cant stop, I may possibly try taking it later possibly before bed and see if it is the same and would therefore be the next day at bed time.

im so impressed that everyone is achieving their goals.

I feel your pain. I’m in week 8 and lost nothing in weeks 6 and 7. I’m focusing on the positives like type 2 diabetes finally being controlled and loose jeans. Let’s hang in there 💐

stormageddmum · 24/08/2025 20:47

I've lost 10lb so far in about 6 weeks - which I'm sharing for any other slower losers reading this!
Only just finished first pen thanks to a week where I couldn't jab on holiday (sharing accommodation) and the golden dose week. Staying on 2.5mg - jabbing tomoz and have another 2.5mg pen hopefully on the way, then will have to try my luck with Wegovy 😕
I have been really off breakfast this last couple of weeks, which I think has helped. Kind of enforced time restricted eating I guess?

stormageddmum · 24/08/2025 20:51

I can see the difference though and clothes are fitting better. Ordered my favourite jeans in a size 16! The 18 is feeling mahoosive. Was shocked, but not celebrating yet till other stuff gets baggy arsed too.

@AirborneElephant That’s amazing!

I’ve got all a bit out of sync as I’ve been a bit here there and everywhere over the summer so I haven’t weighed for a couple of weeks and I’ve had a few ten day gaps between jabs. But I’m noticing changes in my clothes (my knickers fell down the other day when I was doing the washing up 😂) and my OH says he can see it in lots of places. I'm quite excited as a fair bit of my autumn/winter wardrobe was unwearable last year because I was just too big so I’m hoping it’ll be in the rotation this year.

Rallentanda · 25/08/2025 10:09

I've now lost 3.5 inches off my waist, and 2 inches off my arse.
I can almost do a push-up and yoga is much easier!
The weight is coming off slowly, which suits me fine as I am not as likely to spring back as I was when I was younger.

My scales tell me I have not lost any fat or water, and I've put on a bit of muscle, but the weight is going down. So I have no idea what I am losing 😆but it's good.

DabOfPistachio · 25/08/2025 15:42

Hello all, just weighing in and updating with my first full month. I started 23rd July.

SW: 115kg
CW: 110kg
GW: 75kg

So total loss of 5kg. Ideally, I'd have wanted more but realistically I think this is really good. I had good suppression from the off but this started plateuing around the 4th jab with me seeing only a very small drop for that week. However, I took the 5th golden dose a week ago and have had excellent loss for this week.
Very lucky to have had no side effects.
Food-wise, I ate the most healthily in the first three weeks then struggled a bit after that. I'm definitely not back to my bad old ways of binging but definitely had a few where I didn't eat healthily.
This includes the last week where I saw a good loss.
I think the change for the last week was actually due to me taking up exercise again. I did the couch to 5k a few years ago and started again on Wednesday. I've seen some commentary that the mounjaro is more effective with exercise due to how it interacts with the various exercise chemicals meaning that your metabolism speeds up better. So far this does seem to fit what I'm seeing but obviously too soon to tell.
I know you're not supposed to weigh every day but I like having the data so I have been. My graph below shows progress. Blue dots are MJ jabs. The stars are days I went for a jog.
I start on 5mg tomorrow :)

VordLoldemort · 25/08/2025 17:57

just done my 9th jab. Suppression still really good and food noise hasn’t come back yet so I think I’ll be sticking with 5mg rather than 7.5 for my next pen. Start weight 108kg, current weight 99.5kg. Still a long way to go but I’m really pleased with my results in 8weeks.
have logged my losses in pounds as prefer seeing the bigger numbers for loss. Don’t like seeing stones and pounds for my actual weight though!

I’ve lost another 1lb this week, taking me to 9.5lb lost over 7 weeks. I’ve just recorded another 2.5 pen but it’s looking like a7-10 working day wait for it to be delivered.

I've sent you a PM with it. I've got a £75 off first month code with Juniper. I think they have stock. I paid £154 for 7.5mg. It was delivered within 2 days of ordering as a new customer.

Could I have it to please?

Kittkats · 25/08/2025 21:12

Checking in with 3 days to go of a 10 day holiday. I’ve eaten bread, cheese and wine but (I think) much less than normal.
Did my first 5mg 3 days before we went, dropped to 3.75 while here because I literally couldn’t eat on 5mg. Not much exercise besides gentle swimming, paddle boarding and horse riding. It’ll be interesting to see how much I’ve gained! I’ve brought a tape measure and my waist is 30” vs 35 when I started MJ, but no idea what it was immediately pre holiday so not much use 😂

I did a 7 day holiday this month and lost 3/4lb over the week- I’d normally put on half a stone! 🤞🏻 for a similar result for you too.

I hope you are having a great holiday Kittkats. I love paddle boarding!

I've just sent you my discount code for Juniper. They are still showing all doses in stock. It's subscription based, but nothing stopping you cancelling the subscription as soon as you get the pen.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 26/08/2025 09:16

Morning all. My night shift went really well, no unnecessary eating either during or after which is usually very hard for me. And straight back on track today with a swim before work. Haven't weighed for a couple of days but I'm hopeful the scales will have (finally!) moved next time I do weigh. Very jealous of all the holidays, I haven't managed to get away this summer sadly. It definitely sounds like MJ is helping people stay on track which is awesome.

SW: 15st 8.4lbs
CW: 13st 12.5lbs
GW: 9st

Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a while but thought it was time to post and ask for some advice.

I started Mounjaro on 8th July and will be starting my 3rd pen (still on 2.5mg) on 9th Sept. So far I’ve had zero side effects and the appetite suppression works really well most of the week, so I’ve been happy to stay at 2.5mg for now.

Here’s the situation: my husband has 2 unused 5mg pens in the fridge. He’s prescribed MJ for diabetes but hasn’t used them for a while due to health issues, so his doctor is restarting him on 2.5mg. That means I could make use of these “spare” pens when I’m ready to step up to 3.75mg.

The only thing I’m unsure about is what happens afterwards. If I use his pens for a couple of months, I’ll basically drop off my supplier’s system — and when I want to go back, my BMI will be lower and I won’t have my own prescription history for about 12 weeks.

This is the plan I worked out (using the “golden dose” idea — 5 weeks on 2.5mg pens, 6 weeks on 3.75mg from 5mg pens):

  • Pen 3 (2.5mg): 9 Sep → 14 Oct 2025
  • Pen 4 (2.5mg): 14 Oct → 18 Nov 2025
  • Pen 5 (3.75mg from 5mg): 18 Nov → 30 Dec 2025
  • Pen 6 (3.75mg from 5mg): 30 Dec → 10 Feb 2026
  • Pen 7 (2.5mg): 10 Feb → 17 Mar 2026
  • Pen 8 (2.5mg): 17 Mar → 21 Apr 2026

If things carry on as they have, my Happy Scale app suggests I’ll be at goal around the end of April.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone here used spare pens like this and then gone back to their own supplier?
  2. Will a supplier still take me back if my BMI is lower and I don’t have continuous prescription records?
