New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Well done, thats brilliant!

Thank you! I haven't been this weight since 2022. That's pretty much 3 years of losing the same 2 or 3kg then putting them back on again, raging and giving up. What a difference!

afternoon All,

SW 65kg
CW 57.3kg.

On my 3rd 5mg injection so week 7 today.

my weight wasn't the reason why I was put on this it was my diabetes and the very high sugar levels that were not under control even on 2 different insulins and tablets,

I had an episode of diabetic ketoacidosis and spent a time in the emergency room being treated and on ward, alongside this I had a reaction to a new diabetic tablet.

so with very careful advice and instruction under a diabetic specialist they have place me on this drug...

and it is a wonder drug, my weight is coming off ideally they would like me around 7stone (5ft 1in).
my cholesterol levels have lowered.
I'm only on this drug weekly and no other insulins at all.
my other diabetic tablets have also been lowered.

starting Hab1c was 96.
now it's 55...

I'm so sad to hear that some of you may have to stop taking this medication is obviously working for alot of people the prices being increased are very unjustified to say the least.

I was also put on Mounjaro to help control my diabetes as well. I’ve maxed out the dosages of metformin I could take, along with another tablet and this or insulin were my only other options. Since starting I feel so much more alert and awake. I also am not shaky and dizzy all the time. I’m glad it’s working well for you too. It really is such a game changer.

I've plateaued - I have lost 8kg in total but I have been at the same weight for 3 weeks - fluctuating between 66-67kg - I am just finishing my second pen at 2.5mg, should I go up to 5mg? I am a bit nervous to go up as i've had some side effects, I have another 10kg to lose to hit my target weight (I am short in height)

Wildflowerblooms · 18/08/2025 10:42

W8 D1- I’ve been on holiday these last two weeks and was really nervous to weigh myself this morning, but I’m down 1.9kg/4.2lbs. I am really happy with that. I tried to be very mindful while away, but definitely ate out a lot more than normally. I did manage 15,000 to 20,000 steps most days while gone so that probably helped. Beyond a few days when I felt rather nauseous over the last few weeks I’ve been doing really well and my diabetes issues such as fatigue and shaking seem to be better lately. I’ll be staying on 5mg for at least another month as that is what has been recommended by my gp. After more bloodwork next month, we’ll have a chat about if I should go up to 7.5mg or not.

I’m on week three of 5mg and the hunger suppression is non existent. What with this and the imminent price hikes, wondering if i should just knock this on the head now.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 18/08/2025 11:45

@CookieQueen19865mg hasn't been great for me either, I lost more on 2.5! I've just done my third dose and ordered a 7.5 pen to see if that helps. I've lost 2lb on 5mg but I'm definitely not feeling the suppression I was

MeridaBrave · 18/08/2025 11:58

thatwastheendofmytether · 17/08/2025 23:32

Thank you. I’ll investigate them. All my training (midwife) is screaming at me that the same needle shouldn’t be used but I’m going to be brave 😂

Tbh that didn’t occur to me but yes fair enough to use different drawing needle. If I use up current supply I can do that next time I much prefer the smaller 0.5ml needles.

I’m having the same issue. Day 6 of 5mg and don’t feel like I have had any suppression at all. 3 pounds down in 5 weeks but that is due to dieting and being hungry. I think I am going to try a month on 7.5 as I’ve come this far

Yeah that’s very disappointing. I’m 50/50 at the moment as to whether I’ll order 7.5mg next week or just give up. I’m finding it hard to justify the costs

It sounds like you probably should to get the effectiveness, although it depends how bad your side effects are. You could get a 5mg pen and take 3.75mg to start with (40 clicks) to see how you cope with the increased dose?

My supplier says that if the ice pack melts, it's fine as long as it stays under 30 degrees. So as long as it's coolish and goes straight in the fridge I reckon it's OK.

I had constipation but not since my holiday - first week jabbed / second week off the meds. Idk what changed but I ate granola every day so maybe try oats. Introduced some sourdough since I've been back - just one piece with smashed avo and various tasty bits. All back to normal. Think the fibre and fermentation helps.

It's just arrived. It's 24degrees so put it straight in fridge

Wk 8 D2 lost 1stone

I'm overjoyed. Took me 9 months to lose 2 stone with slimming world. I've had migraine since Friday, nothing to do with jab, it's due to arthritis in neck and shoulders but I'm so happy today

Sneaking in, I am normally active in the August starter thread.

I actually started end of July and am on W4D3.

I found that I get hungry normally on D5/6 but this week I can actually hear my stomach growling already. Has anyone else had this at the end of W4?
I had similar meals as before so not really undereating and today was actually a good protein day.

I have my new pen already, I order 5mg because I thought the supressing is getting less.

Yes I get that every week! Coming to the end of W6 and it’s letting me know….rrrrrrr

stormageddmum · 18/08/2025 23:27

Managed to force the pen to do the golden dose so no need for syringes this time. Followed a close-up you tube video to avoid ballsing it up. It didn't take much force at all but it did manage to jam somehow when I was injecting, and had to take it out to fiddle, spaffing a squirt of it in the process. So, not quite a full dose but will just jab a day or two early if it's less effective this week.

I'm not too worried as suppression was still high today - couldn't face breakfast. A concept I previously thought was exclusive to waifs and supermodels!

Anyway - seems possible to do it without syringes, but syringes will be more accurate. If moderately terrifying.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 19/08/2025 11:59

That's interesting , are you able to point me to the video. I'm going to try the golden dose this time so would be interested to see this.

Weight loss has slowed down a lot since I've been on 5mg, although I took my second dose yesterday and suppression is much stronger than it was after the first dose.
I really want to get to a stone loss as I feel that'll give me a huge psychological boost. I know the best way to lose is slow and steady, and I'm lucky to have no significant SE. This is the lowest weight I've been in years (and it would normally be after 6 months of dieting not 6 weeks) so I'm remaining positive and looking forward to going up to 7.5.

It was this one (might need to copy / paste as it didn't like the clicky link I added):

First one I found that wasn't waffley and where you could see close up.

Off on holiday at 62kg, which I’m very happy about. Pre Covid summer clothes all fit. I didn’t lose this week but given only 2kg from goal that’s ok. I’m taking 2.5mg from a 5mg pen, and haven’t brought on holiday. No scales and no pen on holiday (I took an early dose yesterday) so let’s see how I do.

I’ll have a push to 60kg when I get back.

Rallentanda · 20/08/2025 09:43

I've taken my second dose from my 5mg pen, but counted out 45 clicks to make 3.75mg. Reason being I felt my ability to eat was suppressed a bit too much last week. I had a meal out and just couldn't eat, couldn't enjoy that, and I don't want that particularly, even if it's brilliant for weight loss!

I'm on my second week of 3.75mg. I lost 2lb last week and that's fine by me. I'll stay on 3.75mg until I feel it is not working as well and then I will move up to the 5mg.
