New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Just tried to reorder and the Medexpress site crashed.

Muppies65 · 14/08/2025 18:29

Are you allowed to order in advance , I've just ordered x 2 it says they will keep unopened until expiry date, just wondering if this is ok?

VordLoldemort · 14/08/2025 19:47

Have just ordered a 7.5mg from numan with the £100 off, hopefully they honour it. Feel free to dm me if anyone wants the link for £100 off too. Also sent an email to my MP. It’s shocking that they’ve given us 2 weeks notice of these price increases.

Whilst I agree it's a shock, and I'm worried about whether or not I'll be able to afford it, I'm not sure what an MP can do about an American company choosing to increase their prices?

Personally I'm going to wait and see what happens when the dust settles and where the prices end up. I'm happy on 2.5mg for now, it may mean staying there and having a slower loss but that's possibly better in the long run. Or I might choose to order a slightly more expensive pen and take smaller doses (against manufacturer's advice) to save money, or I may move to Wegovy. I don't want to do anything in a panic just now (as much as anything as it would mean putting it on a credit card which I don't want to do), and there's plenty of time to order at least one more pen before the increases kick in.

Honestly neither do I, but they’re saying the reason our prices are increasing is to stop people from outside the UK ordering from the UK and delivering to the EU, that’s something the government can look into.

on another note, medicine marketplace are do a live on too tok

I think that's a bit of a smokescreen, the driver seems to be Trump giving them an ultimatum to ensure US prices are in line with the rest of the world - so rather than reduce the US prices they are increasing ours

Oh quite, I totally agree.

stormageddmum · 14/08/2025 20:23

Fuck.

This is not affordable for me. Also, concerning about panic ordering - this will surely create shortages?

stormageddmum · 14/08/2025 20:24

Hoping discount codes are still going to be available?

Just fuck Trump on every level.

Lots of places already out of stock, price matching pharmacies have stopped price matching and lots of codes being pulled. I did manage to get the 7.5mg for £129. The mass panic is crazy

MeridaBrave · 14/08/2025 20:53

Urgh. I’m already doing 30 clicks from an 5mg pen and I have a spare pen also so on that basis I have enough for around another around 20 weeks or so, assuming they are effective for that long (unclear). I think after that I’ll take a break and then switch to wegovy.

I’m only 2kg from my goal weight, and swift doctor told me i can take a break of up to a year (even if BMI under 27 etc), I assume after a break I can switch.

You can’t start wegovy if your bmi is under 30, even if you used mounjaro to get under 30 bmi. Medicine marketplace have just confirmed on the live

stormageddmum · 14/08/2025 20:57

Feeling a bit like a bunny in the headlights about what to do to be honest. Will probably just fume and see what tomorrow brings. Just reading up on Wegovy and it seems a bit second rate, but the research that said MJ is more effective (at highest cost tolerable etc) was funded by Eli Lilly (the treacherous bastards) so I'm taking that with a pinch of salt. Not many discount codes for Wegovy either as far as I can see?

stormageddmum · 14/08/2025 21:01

Has anyone been on Wegovy? How is it at reducing food noise? It doesn't have control of the appetite suppressing hormone like MJ but makes you feel fuller in the same way. I need the food noise dialled back, not so much the feeling full.

Urgh that is very annoying. Assume that will be the same with swift doctor.

Depending on how much the price goes up, I might have to stop taking it. It makes me so sad because I’m finally losing weight after struggling to for years, and after 1kg I’ll be the lightest I’ve been in 4 years.

My bmi is now too low for me to switch to Wegovy, and I don’t want to purposely regain the weight that I’ve lost just to go on it.

I wish we got a longer warning before the prices jumped up. I should be able to get another pen just before the price goes up which will give me another month to lose as much as I can before I have to stop, at least. Damn this sucks so much. It sucks to have finally found something that works only for it to be (potentially) ripped away from me.

Has anyone ordered from Bolt before? I did my order this morning and have been working through the photos, ID checks etc and am finding it near in impossible to do it all. Despite the fact that I've taken full body photos and photos of my ID I can't get past the facial photos oarrbas apparently I need to give permission to the camera - I've already uploaded 4 photos the camera is fine for them! Vert frustrating and makes me reluctant to shop around for price if it's a hassle with the cheaper providers

They refused me , o reason given either.
I am already on it and just wanted to switch supplier .
Still got BMI over 30 and still got almost 3 stone to lose .
No idea why i was refused

Catladyof7 · 14/08/2025 23:58

I have only been on it since June , never even replied to my email asking why i had been refused.
I sent photos too .

Very dam ignorant of them

stormageddmum · 15/08/2025 06:44

Found the Voy article about Wegovy which they've updated yesterday. Voy obviously have a vested interest but this looks reassuring for those able to move / bmi under 30, essentially there's a higher dose coming for Wegovy which makes it more on a par with the level of weightloss you can expect from MJ:

I'll try to do it again today and see then. Very odd of them to refuse you with no communication

Brightonbelly · 15/08/2025 08:30

Some advice please!
Week 4 day 4 for me. For context- still getting very good suppression but some fairly heavy side effects for few days after the jab and occasionally longer so have decided to stay on 2.5.
We are going away in September with adult / teen dc and their partners. Travel day is Jab day. I’d really like to be able to eat out when we are away (moderately) and enjoy an occasional glass of wine, so I think my 3 options are

  1. Jab as usual and suck it up
  2. Stretch out doses by a day each time leading up to going so last jab is about 4 days before travel and then delay return dose- effectively skipping a week but spreading it out
  3. skip a week totally

Totally torn but leaning towards 2 or 3 at moment!

RubyTraybake · 15/08/2025 11:29

I’m week 5 day 3. Did my first 5mg on Tuesday and had no suppression on either 2.5 or 5 so far and only lost 3 pounds and that’s through actively dieting and going to bed hungry. It feels like everyone else is getting suppression and weight loss from day 1 so I’m feeling disheartened! Feel like I now need to wait another 3 weeks to go to 7.5 in the hope that has an effect.
Anyone else not finding it’s not working?

Rallentanda · 15/08/2025 12:01

God I am really depressed about the massive price hike. This drug has been working for me. I haven't felt this healthy in years. Just because of that man's pissing contests over the ridiculous healthcare pricing in the US. What an absolute roaster.

thatwastheendofmytether · 15/08/2025 12:28

I’m also awaiting news of the price rises with trepidation. In the few weeks I’ve been on it it’s helped my autoimmune issues enormously and I really don’t want to go back to that.
