New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

So does anyone think they’ll be jumping up to 7.5mg once their 5mg pen runs out?!

I'm only on week 2 of 5mg but I'm finding the suppression is less than at 2.5ml weirdly. I did lose a little last week so I'll wait and see, but at the moment I'm thinking I might need to go up.

Hi, this is my second time trying Mounjaro as after a while i couldnt afford it. I have started again 3 months ago and have lost 1 stone. I am getting a burning/ strange feeling in my stomach depending on what I eat. Also having heartburn all the time. I had 1 day recently of diarrhoea and vomited once. My next dose is 7.5mg and I'm not sure if I should go up?? Has anyone had any of these side effects and what did you do ? How do I get my stomach to settle ?

Have you tried esomeprazole? (Unless you’re already on lansoprazole/ omeprazole etc) It’s over the counter and should help minimise excess stomach acid.

Needs to educate himself better then. This is far from an “ easy way out “
Bloody annoying people that think that .
I am having to be very strict , 1000 calories a day etc …thats not easy and very patronising for people to think that .
We dont take the injection and wake up thin !
I wish !
Its bloody hard work

Yes also on approx 1,200 calories (and increased activity, now managing 5km runs most days) and yes it’s slow and tedious.

it is easier with the MJ as I don’t have the hunger I normally would after more than 3-4 weeks of dieting. I bought caisein protein powder for bedtime as normally on a diet I wake up hungry in the night but I haven’t needed it. It’s pretty vile but the idea is that it’s slow release so stops middle of the night hunger pangs.

Just normally but smaller amounts.
Breakfast water melon & breakfast biscuit. Lunch humous carrots mandarins small chocolate bar & dinner would be pasta or chicken wrap. Things like this

Newbie53 · 13/08/2025 22:06

No, but I will try lansoprazole as the doctor did prescribe those for me before. Thanks

PourUsAGlass · 14/08/2025 07:16

Morning all, I'm just wondering how everyone else is storing their pens? I used to keep mine in the fridge all the time, but have kept this last pen in my drawer after first use, as I find injecting stings less at room temp.
I'm due my 4th dose from my current pen tomorrow, but Im panicking a bit now, as its been so hot these past few days, I'm thinking has it been stored above 30 degrees 🤔
I do have my next pen in the fridge ready to start next week... do you think I should throw my current one and start my new one, just to be on the safe side?

CookieQueen1986 · 14/08/2025 07:56

Weigh in day for me and another pound down.
Surprised as the hunger suppression has been non existent this week and I’ve definitely been eating more than I was previously.

Can’t see anything in that that could be problematic maybe citrus can be a trigger.

More generally have a look at your diet as you aren’t eating enough protein to maintain your muscle mass. Aim for 90g a day. I’m really focussing on losing fat not muscle so I eat more eg around 120g+ a day.

Same here, I'm on wk 2 of 5mg and so hungry. I'm managing to be good but it's disappointing after spending so much money on 5mg pen
I'm gonna order 7.5 and hope it works better

What are you eating in a day? Try to ensure 30g of protein at each meal and even a protein shake at bedtime to ensure not hungry in the night.

I think there is quite a lot of wheat in that day. The breakfast biscuits are processed. Could you have scrambled eggs/omlette or greek yoghurt and fruit?
Also, pasta. Could you switch it up for wholemeal pasta or lentil pasta? Maybe try a lentil and quinoa mix instead? Merchant Gourmet do a microwaveable pouch.

I have fruit and protein shake for breakfast
Lunch is usually omelette and salad or cold meat and salad
Dinner is meat/fish with small salad
I haven't had wine since I started mounjaro, used to drink every evening
Thankfully I don't feel hungry at night or in the morning but evenings are getting difficult

MeridaBrave · 14/08/2025 13:39

i sometimes have flavoured protein powder in the mid afternoon or evening if feeling a bit hungry . Not the nicest but can help feel fuller.

I keep mine in the fridge all the time, but take it out 10 minutes before i do the injection so its not cold

Was you meant to quote me? I’m talking about the price increases coming on 1st September

Yes, i havent see anything about those anywhere .
Where does it say that ?
That would be more than double in some places 🤬

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 14/08/2025 14:59

There's a story in the press today about list prices increasing from Sept 1st. But the prices that pharmacies will charge aren't necessarily the list price - they will negotiate their own rates with the manufacturer. I assume there will be increases but hopefully not to the levels of the list prices as that will price a lot of people out of the market and reduce their customer base, which isn't good business sense.

VordLoldemort · 14/08/2025 14:59

Someone leaked the new list prices, no idea what the final prices will end up being but it looks like we’ll have a considerable increase on the prices we have now. Trump threw a hissy fit about American prices and presumably thinks they are subsidising our prices, because now Eli Lilly wants to bring UK prices in line with the rest of the EU.

Hello! Hope you don’t mind me crashing in. Started in July but only just found this thread/returned to MN. Started at 110.1kg, now 105.5kg. I’m pretty pleased with that as various autoimmune conditions make it hard for me to exercise.

CookieQueen1986 · 14/08/2025 16:33

If those prices turn out to be accurate, this will also be my last pen. I simply won’t be able to afford it, such a shame.

AirborneElephant · 14/08/2025 17:21

The price rises are definite. Article in the FT and several pharmacies have confirmed ☹️. I have ordered three 10mg pens from Oushk, waiting to see if they’ll process the orders. I’m on 5mg (3.75 this week as I went down a touch), so I’m hoping that will see me through and give me a few months maintenance. Anyone else stocking up?
