New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

Hi everyone. Today is my 4th MJ jab 2.5mg. After my 3rd jab I started to get mild nausea. Food suppression is still good. Been eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. Lost 1 stone 1lb.

I am not sure what to do with my next pen. If I keep to 2.5 mg will suppression dwindle or go to 5mg and have more nausea?

Would welcome any advice. Thank you.

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 09/08/2025 10:35

Weigh in day for me, and I’ve only lost 0.25lb this week, which gives me a 7.75lb loss over my first 4 weeks.

I start my next 2.5 pen today, hoping for a better week next week.

I had exactly the same loss as you at that point. I ordered a 5mg pen, planning to take 2.5mg from it if suppression stayed good at that dose. By week 4 day 3, suppression had significantly reduced so I took my first 5mg for my 5th jab after all (donated my golden dose to DH who is a couple of weeks behind me!)

CloudyYellow · 09/08/2025 11:22

Hi thank you. Did you have any nausea with 2.5 mg dose?

As kitkats said, I’d suggest ordering the 5mg pen. There’s generally not that much difference in price. You can then keep taking 2.5 mg (a half dose, so 30 clicks) for as long as it is working and go up when you need to.

Kittkats · 09/08/2025 12:07

Only mild nausea after the 4th jab on and off for a day or two. Nearly 24 hours after the first 5mg and had mild nausea for half an hour last night, but it’s very early days I suppose!

CloudyYellow · 09/08/2025 12:48

Thanks unfortunately just checked and there is a £50 difference between 2.5 mg and 5 mg jab..

Kittkats · 09/08/2025 12:52

That depends on provider. I’m with med express so both £149, and you get £40 off with a referral code so £113 with delivery. I know some providers seem to charge more for higher doses though.

CloudyYellow · 09/08/2025 13:17

I am wondering if I should try to do golden dose to give me time to switch supplier...

Nellieinthebarn · 09/08/2025 14:19

Weigh in day for me, I am very pleased with a 2.7kg loss. It rather makes up for the 500g I somehow put on last week.

This means that my BMI has gone from 33 when I started down to 30. Soon I hope to be merely overweight and not obese!

This has been my first week on 5mg, I have had a few slight headaches and a bit of nausea, but nothing major.

That’s unusual as Eli Lilly charge the pharmacies the same for both doses. Might be worth shopping around. I’ve moved to Swift Doctor it’s £125 for 5mg.

Hi all.

I'm in hospital. Nothing to do with mounjaro - a nasty breast abscess, a failed surgical draining but it finally popped on its own early hours of this morning. Such relief.

I aas nervous about telling the docs and nurses about being on it. But every one of them have been really positive with one doc saying that it's so wonderful to hear about patients having great results from it.

The only thing they mentioned about it from a medical viewpoint is that as it slows digestion it could cause a slower absorption of antibiotics so they moved me onto IV antibiotics as soon as I was admitted. I'm going home tomorrow and they are happy for me to take oral antibiotics from them as I'll have my last IV dose over night.

I've been poorly since Tuesday/Wednesday and barely eaten so DH is bringing me food from the Chippy for my dinner. I may regret it but at the moment I just need something carby.

CookieQueen1986 · 09/08/2025 15:43

Not enjoying 5mg at all so far.
I randomly threw up multiple times in the early hours of this morning and have felt crappy all day. I’m hungry but nervous to eat.

Sorry to hear that. Vomiting is hideous. Have you just switched to 5mg?

Had my second 5mg jab on Thursday. It’s been rough so far - really hoping it’s settles down so far. Apparently struggling on 5mg is fairly common so I’m not worrying too much at the moment

Nellieinthebarn · 09/08/2025 19:11

@DarkSuitsSadSongs yikes that sounds grim, hope you feel better soon.

Hope it settles too. I could not continue with Ozempic or Wegovy as within 2 injections it was ruining my life. Monjaro 2.5 mg has been much better.

Did you have nausea on 2.5 mg?

No side effects at all on 2.5mg. Kicking myself for jumping up so soon

CloudyYellow · 09/08/2025 19:44

@CookieQueen1986 you did nothing wrong at all!

I was fine on 2.5 mg until after 3rd injection then got some mild nausea that I saw as a warning sign. It has settled now so really not sure how would react to 5mg.

Yes. I’m a bit nervous to jump up, especially as away next weekend in Lake District and then off to Greece week after. I’m not taking pen to Greece. Will reassess when I get back. But given I’m only 3kg from target now, my sense is that there isn’t really a rush.

I know some of you wanted a 5mg nausea update. I’ve done 3 injections of 5mg now and the nausea when thinking of food has been almost non-existent this week. It’s getting better! 😁 I just feel nauseous when I think of mounjaro for some reason (it’s reminding me of when I was pregnant and had morning sickness. Luckily my husband has been neutered so it’s not a risk so don’t worry!)

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/08/2025 09:04

Morning all, I'd like your thoughts please on what to do in the next few weeks. I'm coming to the end of my first week on 5mg and has gone well - decent suppression and no SE.
I made an impromptu holiday booking last night to go in a few weeks - we'll fly on the day my last 5mg is due. I'm a bit worried about taking the jab before flying in case of SE kicking in - so I was thinking of dropping down to 2.5 just for that week to try to make it more manageable. I was losing on 2.5 but slowly and definitely found it was wearing off during the week. We're only away for 4 nights so I could split the dose and take another 2.5 on return.
It would mean my injection day changing but I'm not too bothered about which day I inject. What would everyone do?
This break is much needed and I really don't want to risk spoiling it for us all.

If you have no SE on the three earlier 5mg then should be ok. But yes a half dose before and after works. You might need to change day for one week eg my usual day is a Thursday we get back holiday on a Monday, so will take on Monday, then Friday and the following week back to Thursday again.

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/08/2025 13:13

@MeridaBravethats what I'm thinking. I take the Monday as usual then take the second 2.5 when we get back on the Friday, so Friday becomes my new day. It also solves the problem of needing my next delivery to arrange either before I go or the day we get back. I'm cautious of arranging it early in case it gets delayed then arrives while we're away (I'm also paranoid about things like power cuts even though I know it's unlikely!)
