New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

140g protein in impressive! I average around 100 as well. Protein drink for breakfast (20g), salad with a poached salmon fillet or chicken breast for lunch (40g), and another 200g or so of fish/meat for dinner (40g). I guess I’m not counting anything not in meat or fish, but I don’t eat much dairy or eggs so I doubt that’s very significant.

That is an odd dream. Maybe your brain is processing your changing feelings around food?

I'm totally with you on the protein obsession.

Yes I think my brain is going, look, food is lovely, here's some of the ways in which you enjoy it - but I wake up and it's all ok, it doesn't make me want to eat, so it's fine.

Rallentanda · 31/07/2025 14:08

CookieQueen1986 · 31/07/2025 11:57

Are you on your period? Or due on?

Maybe you just need to do a really big poo!

I'm 53 and through the menopause! But I did the latter and was down 100g 😂

Rallentanda · 31/07/2025 14:10

CookieQueen1986 · 31/07/2025 13:26

Thank you, that’s encouraging. I injected at 7am this morning and so far nothing, including no suppression. So I’m hoping it kicks in soon

It's funny how it comes on...I was eating dinner and realised, jesus, I cannot finish this, how strange - then I remembered the jab

I'm new to this thread. I started MJ 3 weeks ago. Do my jab on a Friday morning. Only SE was horrific d and v 3 days after my first jab which almost put me off but I put it down to too much fruit and eating my normal size breakfast that day of yoghurt and granola. It just sat ony stomach. It was really bad but Ive had no SE effects since apart from fleeting nausea a few times. I lost 7.5 lb the first week and 1.5 the 2nd. Hoping for 2 this week. I have about 4/5 stone to lose but I'm positive I'll get there 😀

My question for you MeridaBrave is what are you eating to get 140g of protein please? I'm averaging about 100. Thankyou

Greek Fage yogurt breakfast (25)
tuna cod and egg white omelette (35?)
protein shake mid afternoon (30)
chicken dinner (45-50)

200g of chicken is 60g of protein.

Has anyone here tried the fybogel chewy tablets? Do they have the same weird texture as the powder you dump in water?

W5 D7
SW 99.4KG
CW 90.8KG
SBMI 38.8
CBMI 35.5
Blood pressure consistently in normal range.
IBS still not returned - has anyone else had this positive effect?

First week on 5mg didn't start well. Felt pretty sick and headache all day Friday and Saturday. Jab time tonight- going to risk 5mg again.

Loving watching the scales drop down. Can't believe how easy this has been so far. I drink loads of water, don't measure my protein but averaging 3 30 minute swims and some extra walks so hopefully they'll help keep the sagging skin at bay. All ok so far.

Have loved being part of the July thread. Great to hear everyone's stories.

Rallentanda · 31/07/2025 18:18

I ordered new scales as I was having trouble getting a consistent reading on the old ones. Either that or they’d stick at one weight till I coaxed them into something different, even if it was heavier. Arrived today. Might explain why my weight seemed stuck. I actually weighed half a kilo less than I thought, and that was after lunch. I’ve seen a number I’ve not measured in a few years 🥳

Radioundermypillow · 31/07/2025 18:21

The idea of all that protein makes me feel sick. Also no wonder people get constipated if they are eating so much protein and so little fibre?

I guess it depends if you like eating meat 🤷‍♀️. I’ve always done so and enjoy it. I’m also eating plenty of vegetables with fibre and I’m not constipated. What I’m not eating is pretty much any carb, plus not much added fat. I didn’t intend to and have really struggled with low carb diets before, but on Mounjaro I seem to be very happy eating a large ginger, soy and spring onion salmon fillet, bok Choi and stir fried veg (today’s meal). I cooked egg fried rice for everyone else, but didn’t fancy any myself.

I’m eating mountains of cruciferous veg like broccoli and cauliflower. Very little grains. Not constipated. But I’m weight lifting so have been eating this much protein for a while just had to cut everything else.

Radioundermypillow · 31/07/2025 22:10

That all sounds delicious but I can't eat huge mountains of anything, let alone cauliflower. I guess I'll work it out. I like fibre, oats,.lentils, some grains. Low carb doesn't work for me.

DarkLion · 31/07/2025 22:54

I’m hoping to start this month! NHS nurse that’s just had to order a bigger uniform 🙈 can I ask has anyone used pharmacy2u and do you know what current turn around times are? Today I’ll have been waiting 48 hours for clinical approval 😖

EvelynSalt · 01/08/2025 08:34

Hello all! It’s been a while, work has been nuts.

Better week this week. I got 4 days in and appetite suppression dipped but weirdly, was back the next day even stronger. This seems to be a theme with me, I have a little dip in the middle of the week.

SW 100.6kg
CW 94.6kg

W5 D6, 2.5mg

Loss this week is 2.8lbs which I’m chuffed with! Starting to feel a bit leaner as well which is great, my shorts aren’t tight anymore.

Radioundermypillow · 01/08/2025 08:41

Just ordered the next strength of Wegovy- 0.5. I felt the suppression was getting too low on the 0.25.

Now regretting it as I've lost another 2lb this week seemingly without trying 🤔

How does the Wegovy pen work? Can you take a half dose like you can with Mounjaro and stretch the pen out?

I'm pretty sure no. Can't find anything online about doing that.

Rallentanda · 01/08/2025 09:00

I’m definitely off my plateau. I’ve lost half a kilo overnight. That feels a bit fast so going to try to eat a little more today

CookieQueen1986 · 01/08/2025 12:10

Well the 5mg suppression has well and truly kicked in. I’ve eaten nothing at all today and yet my stomach feels completely full. I’ve got no interest in eating any lunch but I’m hoping I’ll feel like eating dinner later.
No SE of any note yet.

zerofeeling · 01/08/2025 12:27

So I did another dose of 2.5 even though it's against the advice - no side effects but I definitely feel calmer around food, feeling full more quickly and able to stop eating when I'm full instead of compulsively grazing all evening. Huge relief! No idea how long it will last but it's a huge relief.

I've decided not to weigh myself which is a shame but I know from very long experience that I'll just get fixated on the numbers which only leads to me either giving up or going to extremes to make the scales shift - and then giving up 🤦

I used pharmacy2u approval was about three days but the delivery was very quick after about 2 days and was kept up to date with tracking was pleased with service

Kewforyourlife · 01/08/2025 15:51

W3 D2 for me, trying to change providers, with Morrisons at the moment but its £179, the measly 3 pounds ive lost so far takes me out of the obese BMI category into overweight so im struggling to find a provider, even though in the application process I state that im already taking it!. Another rejection from zava today.
Im getting pretty much no appetite suppression, apart from for 1 day after the injection, no other SE either, can't wait to start on 5mg!

daisydreamies · 01/08/2025 16:24

I’ve just ordered my third pen, and I decided to stick with 5mg. The suppression is so strong and I’m eating a lot less than I was on 2.5mg. I’m only managing a small meal around lunchtime and then a smallish portion of dinner (the same size my 3 year old has). I don’t want to jump up to 7.5mg and only be able to eat 1 meal as it doesn’t seem too healthy.

I’m sticking with the same provider (Asda) as even though it’s not the cheapest, it saves the stress of finding another one to accept me as it seems to be hit or miss on whether they will from what other people have said.
