New thread.

First post re: lifting heavy.
I mentioned on the other thread about lifting heavy for 6-8 reps and I was told it was bad advice. Clearly it’s not my advice made up by me - it’s from world leading female health doctor expert Stacey Sims. There is plenty online from her (loads of podcasts) so have a listen. I’ve been lifting this way for 3 years since the outset of menopause symptoms, on her advice and I have significantly increased muscle size and strength. She also has written a couple of books which are excellent.

Clearly this can only be done with good form or it will lead to injury. Either use a PT (as suggested on the last thread) or use the resistance machines in the gym which basically lock you into the correct position.

I've decided to stick to 2.5mg for my second pen for similar reasons - although I'm still feeling hungry when it's coming up to meal times, I'm not sure I want more suppression than that at the moment - I'm losing quite quickly and I don't want to eat less and lose even faster. When the weight loss slows down then I'll look at increasing but for now this is working for me.

Bunnie22 · 01/08/2025 18:21

I've had the same response from zava this week. I phoned them and they said it's because, even though I explained this is a follow-on, my BMI is now under 30 - it's 29! She did suggest that "maybe I hadn't put my weight in correctly when I did the consultation form", almost encouraging me to lie about my weight to take my BMI back over 30 I felt. I didn't like that!
I've had to stick with medexpress where I got my first pen. But they have delivery problems so I'm not expecting to get it before mid-end of next week at the earliest, even though I ordered it on Tuesday. Luckily I've still got the golden dose to do next week. I've been on 2.5 for 4 weeks and only lost 6lbs.

W3 D2 for me, trying to change providers, with Morrisons at the moment but its £179, the measly 3 pounds ive lost so far takes me out of the obese BMI category into overweight so im struggling to find a provider, even though in the application process I state that im already taking it!. Another rejection from zava today.
Im getting pretty much no appetite suppression, apart from for 1 day after the injection, no other SE either, can't wait to start on 5mg!

Try Voy , i had no problems with them.
I have a code for £45 off of you need it.
Just send me a pm .
They do food ideas too and their chat is instant , not like some that clock off before 5pm .

I haven’t lost anything since 20 July. W4 D5. Wondering if I can take my 5mg a day early because I’m so frustrated with the food noise. I was so despondent today I almost ate frozen yogurt.

I’ve just moved to Swift doctor even though my BMI is now under 27. I just send them evidence of my previous prescription, and I said I was now in maintenance (not strictly true but but my BMI is now around 25, want to get to 23).

I had the same issue when I tried ordering with a different provider. My BMI has dropped below 30 so they wouldn’t prescribe for me so I had no choice but to reorder with Lloyds. Which is a shame because they are bloody extortionate

Zava and medexpress are two providers that specifically won’t accept new customers if you have a bmi under 30, even with proof of previous prescription. There’s a few that do, in fact most do, we prescribe, IQ doctor, simple online pharmacy , pharmacy2u, swift doctor.
I’d imagine everyone is a bit busier at the moment though with it being pay weekend. Any maintenance friendly pharmacy will take on new customers with a bmi under 30 with proof of previous prescription. Have a look on monj.co.uk

That’s so helpful to know, thank you.
I certainly can’t keep paying nearly £180 every month 😭

definitely don’t do that, simple online pharmacy price match too, so you can send them a screenshot every month of the cheapest provider and they’ll give you a discount code to match it and stay with them.

Niceonegeezer · 02/08/2025 07:40

Try Farmacei, I was able to switch despite being under 27 bmi. Came within 2 days. 15% off code via monj.co.uk, made them 9ne of the cheapest.

3 weeks down and I've lost 7.4kg🥳

SW 139.7kg

I seem to have hit a plateau and the suppression is definitely less. I ate 1500 calories yesterday and could easily have eaten biscuits or ice cream if I hadn't had the willpower not too, whereas in previous weeks I just haven't wanted them.
I was going to try the golden dose on Monday but now think I'll go up to 5 instead. I am a bit apprehensive as there are lots of horror stories online about the SE, but I know I'm just weeks away from being under 14st which will be the first time I've been that weight since having DS 14 years ago!
A few NSVs too - although I haven't lost a lot my favourite work dresses are definitely hanging better,, and last night I wore my favourite hoodie which is normally a bit snug when zipped and it fits perfectly!
Good luck for the weekend everyone 😊

EnglishGirlApproximately · 02/08/2025 09:05

Well done @RenegadeKeeblerElfthata a brilliant loss!

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 02/08/2025 09:10

week 3 and I’ve lost 2.25lb this week, am happy with that!

7.5lb since I started

I'm on W5D6 and I was very hungry yesterday and had a few snacks. I stayed on 2.5mg this week as we had a couple of nights away and I didn't want any nasty SE.
I'm going to go to 3.75mg tomorrow and hope for a good week with no SE rather than straight up to 5mg.

I did think about going to 3.75 but I'm not sure I have the brain space right now to work out anything other than the set doses!

Zava didn't give me the option to send my previous prescription. Even when I rang them and explained they just said no. BMI has to be 30 or more. Just wanted to give everyone else the heads up in case they're thinking of ordering follow-on owns from them.

CookieQueen1986 · 02/08/2025 12:16

The suppression on 5mg is extreme. I just had to force a couple of bites of toast down me as I was feeling light headed but that’s all I could manage. Hope it eases up a bit

45 clicks on a 5mg pen = 3.75mg

Have people found any negative impacts from alcohol? I haven't drunk at all since starting but I'm going on a gin tour today (and dinner afterwards) with colleagues and am a bit nervous about how I'll get on. They don't know I'm on MJ and I'd rather not tell them just yet.

heroofalexandria · 02/08/2025 13:30

Checking in!
Im nearly the end of week 4. I did push my injection 2 days later last week as I was away on a camping trip. Ate quite a bit and was weird to have an appetite again but managed to stay healthy (just with a side order of crisps!) still managed to maintain though which was great.

SW 123kg

a long old way to go! I’m staying on 2.5 for another month as still getting good suppression!

I’ve been fine after a few glasses of wine

Rallentanda · 02/08/2025 14:35

I have drunk, occasionally, but noticed I might have nausea the next day.
