I had two sections - I couldn't believe I had to look after newborns either at the time! Stay resting, and hope the pain passes quickly.

Thanks for the reminders all - safely jabbed. My levels got down to 1.98mg according to Shotsy after 10 days on a 5mg jab. I think I'm going to throw the rest of my daughter's cake away - it's been a week and I need it out of our lives...

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 12/08/2025 15:47

barely any pain, just tender. Could honestly go home but they said 2 nights. Ah well, bed is comfy and food is good. And I'll get a free intensive German course from my roommate 😁 (my German is about B1-B2, so not fluent)

Aimingdown · 12/08/2025 15:55

Glad it went so well @HeidiNotSoHeavy

BlueLimes · 12/08/2025 20:07

Ah good to hear @HeidiNotSoHeavy rest up !!

I’ve had 2c sections as well, had a 2 year old and a new born, that’s was er interesting once DH went back to work… think my stomach is a lost cause.

Aimingdown · 12/08/2025 20:12

This (if it posts) is a 16kg kettlebell. It’s also how much I’ve lost now and it felt pretty heavy when I picked it up today. Weird to think about lugging all that extra weight around for so long.

I popped into our local Amazon returns warehouse today and amongst the other vital things I bought I picked up a slender tone type belt for less than £2. I’m lying in bed giving my stomach a workout at the moment. My best buy was a new dough hook for my kitchenaid for £4 but I have many other wonderful things.

Glad to hear all went well @HeidiNotSoHeavy. I was booked in for a repair using mesh years ago but it was cancelled and never rebooked. I think it was the older mesh that caused a few inflammatory issues when used for prolapse repairs but my op wasn’t for a prolapse so I’m not sure why it was cancelled. Seems like a very sensible solution for some surgeries. Great news on the lack of body fat though. That’s what we’re after!

I’ve forgotten to order my meds for the 5th day running. It’s not on repeat so by the time I sit down to order through Patchs the surgery is closed. I got carried away with chutney making again but I think I’m at the end of the damson glut now so back to normal tomorrow

MJalltheway · 12/08/2025 22:55

Glad to hear all went well @HeidiNotSoHeavy and speedy healing vibes coming your way...

now hold on @jins, what's this about an Amazon returns warehouse where you can get insane bargains?!?! I didn't know such a thing existed!

Jins · 12/08/2025 23:13

https://tradeoutlet.shop/

There must be others dotted around the country but these are local to me.

i’ve had a pair of barefoot trainers with an RRP of £30 for £1.50, bamboo duvet covers £6, a mini sewing machine for 75p and many more.

We sell a huge range of overstock, customer returns and clearance goods every week to eBay traders, car boot sellers, market stall owners and Facebook Marketplace sellers. With over 300,000 items arriving each month, there's plenty to choose from!

@Jins that looks epic and some of the aren't too far from me! Top tip! Thank you 😊

DGonMJ · 13/08/2025 07:43

Congrats on the loss @Aimingdown 16kg is indeed a lot to be heaving around all day. You must feel so much better just walking around.

@BreezyPeer sorry you’ve been so unwell. I think I would be inclined to wait a few more days before jabbing again. Really make sure the bug is out of your system. Maybe see how you feel by the weekend?

@HeidiNotSoHeavy glad to hear it all went well and the pain is minimal. Enjoy your bed rest!

Shame this isn’t near me! Would probably find all the Amazon returns DS has sent back 😂

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 13/08/2025 08:22

Pain all manageable but still, if Americans really think it's reasonable to have the surgery on Friday so they can be at their desk on monday, like I read online - they are proper mad. I move at the speed of a very tired sloth, would take me an hour to get from office parking to my desk. And pretty sure I should not be driving the coming days anyway.
To be fair, I did have 3 hernias, one all the way up top and 2 at bellybutton, so they put the mesh all the way.

they weighed me and apparently i've put on weight! Assuming water retention, stomach very bloated.

Jins · 13/08/2025 08:26

@BreezyPeer make sure your phone is fully charged so you can scan Amazon bar codes to see what the item is! It’s a sea of brown boxes and no opening allowed. If you see something bargainous but aren’t sure stick it in your trolley as it won’t be there if you go back. I’ve learned that lesson! No returns allowed but everything I’ve had works as it should.

My scales have apologised for their rudeness and are back to fluctuating in my usual range. Goal weight remains elusive but I can live with that. I guess if you’re going to have a plateau it’s better to have one just above goal.

No exciting plans today. Will see where my mood takes me

DGonMJ · 13/08/2025 08:36

I’ve just ordered another pen using my third maintenance discount code from Oushk. I ordered another 5mg as I’m still not sure about going down to 2.5 yet. I still have another 3 or 4 x 3.33mg doses left in my current pen. By September I may do a couple of 3mg doses and then try 2.5 and see how it goes.
I think others have mentioned the re-order process has height verification photo upload in there now. I uploaded a screenshot of my height from my NHS app, but it’s so basic looking with no personal info I don’t know if it will pass. I expect they’ll want a proper confirmation. What did others do? Hang a tape measure from a door architrave?

Pen will be delivered in September and then, from what I remember in my maintenance call, I should just be able to email Oushk and let them know I want to continue on maintenance and they’ll send me another 3 codes.

BreezyPeer · 13/08/2025 08:56

@DGonMJ I must be feeling unwell as I was convinced it was Thursday this morning ( my jab day) I weighed myself ( a loss- no surprise as I haven't eaten really in days) and then had a long internal monologue about whether or not I should jab. Decided to put it off a few days ( as recommended by you!) And then realised it isn't even jab day! What a wally!

BreezyPeer · 13/08/2025 08:58

@Jins I have some annual leave coming up so I can definitely forsee a trip to amazon returns in my near future! Thank you for the phone tip.

BreezyPeer · 13/08/2025 08:59

@HeidiNotSoHeavy glad you are making progress and totally agree about the need to rest and recuperate 😀xxx

Jins · 13/08/2025 09:22

I’ve just spent some time with my calendar to work out the most cost effective way to share doses within recommended guidelines and I’m not sure why it’s only just dawned on me that dosing every 10 days means that the fourth dose is on day 30. I don’t mind going over 30 days a bit but 10 days is more than I’ve done so far. I’m nervous about going back to the correct schedule though as I’ve got side effects (but not weightloss) under control at the moment.

I think I need to have a chat with Oushk on the best way to ensure I only need one pen per payday!

Get plenty of rest @HeidiNotSoHeavy and listen to your body. Movement post surgery is critical for a good recovery but it’s very easy to overdo things when you start to feel better

Pleased to hear you’re doing ok @HeidiNotSoHeavy , take it easy, small steps!! You won’t have put on weight, it’ll be all the meds/ air etc!!

@Aimingdown tjat puts it into perspective, well done!

@Jins glad your scales are behaving again!! That Amazon warehouse sounds amazing, none near me sadly but what bargains!

@BreezyPeer delaying sounds v sensible! Hope you’re feeling better.

@DGonMJ when I had my verification/ maintenance call yesterday I had to ask DH to hold the tape measure! I’m hoping that once is enough and not need to do for every order! Your NHS screenshot should hopefully do the trick. They told me after 3 months to book another call and see how things are going and they’ll send more codes so may be worth emailing them and asking what kind of call ( don’t know if you need to pay for another maintenance call, forgot to ask that!)

Jins · 13/08/2025 09:44

The warehouse isn’t actually part of the Amazon empire but all the stock is either returns or overstock and still in Amazon packaging.

They have mystery boxes starting at £20. I’ve not bought one yet but I can see one in my future as it will be perfect to pad out the lads’ bags of random crap Xmas stockings 🤣

Polkadotdash · 13/08/2025 10:12

@HeidiNotSoHeavy slowing down is the hardest part of the recovery. I’ve found it really tricky. And I was recently reading about the mesh thing. Apparently the success of using the mesh for hernias is what led to it being used for prolapses. However the properties that made it great for hernias made it not so great for pelvic floors that need to be flexible and elastic, which I thought was interesting.

@jins that warehouse looks great. I’m pleased to know that some stuff that gets returned to Amazon doesn’t end up in landfill. That’s always my worry if I have to return something.

and I started driving again yesterday. Thank god for freedom. Although I bumped into my hairdresser in the supermarket and she asked me how my recovery was going because ‘bless you, you look so tired’. I was horrified. I thought I was looking better. Now I’m wondering if it’s weight loss on my face that’s done it. I have acquired some new wrinkles. I need a facial care regime. I’m useless. Help!

Jins · 13/08/2025 10:54

Things ending up in landfill is high in the public consciousness, especially on MN, but as a retired waste industry professional I can reassure you all that since the introduction of landfill tax in 1996 and increasing pressure from European waste directives and uk targets very little actually goes to landfill - especially from the commercial waste stream.

Other myths include carefully sorted kerbside collections all ending up in the same wagon. (If that worries people they’d have palpitations if they saw what happens at the recovery facility) and waste in skips ending up in landfill. Standard waste landfill tax is just over £125 per tonne and most medium skips take about 6 tonnes so skip firms wouldn’t be around without recovery percentages being high.

The highest risk of usable items going to landfill comes from the domestic stream and the ease of chucking something in the black bin compared to taking it to a recycling centre.

Apologies for the diversion. Weighed in today 0.2lbs less than I did before the festival. My scales have seen sense

Polkadotdash · 13/08/2025 11:03

@Jins thanks. That’s useful data to know. Out of interest what does a big company like Amazon do with the stuff that gets returned and can’t be resold or recycled? Do they incinerate it?

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 13/08/2025 11:06

@Polkadotdash was just checking that they used something called Phasix mesh - should be absorbed and repalaced by my own tissue in about 2 years. Some good studies showing better results than no mesh repairs but without the issues of a permanent foreign body.

Jins · 13/08/2025 11:39

@Polkadotdash I’ve never worked for Amazon so can’t say for sure what actually happens but they sell off pallets of usable returns to places like the warehouse I go to. For other stuff they’ll have a contract with a waste firm and once it’s in that firms hands Amazon have no further input.

I have worked with commercial waste management firms and I think most people would be surprised by how much sorting and processing goes on. Waste electrical and electronics are handled differently but everything else goes through the plant and gets sorted into various types and their end destination depends on the market at the time. Most is recycled, very little ends up in landfill (or incineration)

Waste management is a fascinating industry really. I could go on but won’t 🤣
