Look after yourself @RockyisMYRhino

My nutrition hasn't been great this week...

Cake has been high on my agenda as we polish off my daughter's bday cake. And my husband mistakenly opened a bottle of white (thinking it was red) so I had two glasses of that last night. I don't really drink wine 🙄

I also can't do much exercise due to an injury sustained on holiday, but I got the fuckits this morning and ran to the station on the way to work.

Miraculously, the midweek scales are showing a downward trend. That's not teaching me anything 😜 Feeling good on the 5mg jab - it is definitely having an effect and I think the longer gap I left between the last two 7.5mg jabs didn't make it quite such a big jump down.

Morning losers!

@RockyisMYRhino it does sound like you have a lot on your plate, hope she feels much better soon and that you manage to find some time for you. You sound like superwoman!! Massive well done on your loss and the NSV shorts!

@BreezyPeer woohoo, that’s great that you’re back where you were, love your positivity!

@meatyryvita hopefully it’ll disappear as soon as it arrived and just a blip.

@PenelopePerseveres thats amazing, glad you’ve found a dose that seems to be working and hope you’re managing to eat. Have a lovely weekend away.

@Thelittlestranger hooe the injury goes soon and well done on your loss. Last night of hols last night and I had 2 alcoholic drinks, don’t drink either and had an awful nights sleep! Oh well!

@DGonMJ sounds like you’re really getting to grips with maintenance,

@Grecianrainbow thats a fab loss in a week, well done!!

@myladyjane my hair is falling out too 😳someone mentioned castor oil to me, I’ve not looked into it at all but plan to when I get home!

Think that’s me caught up but sorry if not!
last day here, fly home tonight. I’ve not walked much ( with a friend who has issues with her legs) but have swum for 40 mins a day at least and been watching my calories ( apart from drinks last night but even then I think I had 1900 calories which is lots more than normal, but one day) so hoping the scales will be kind this weekend!

have a great day all.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 07/08/2025 08:46

you certainly have a lot on your plate @RockyisMYRhino , remember to take care of yourself and let some things slide.

Yes my hair is definitely thinner, and wasn't that great to start with. Am using minoxidil, which works well, but you have to be consistent. Still, slimmer body is worth the finer hair.

My gained kilo is still hanging on. Bit concerned what the weight will do over the next few weeks when I can't exercise (hernia repair scheduled for Tuesday). Really have to be mindful of boredom snacking.

Jins · 07/08/2025 08:48

I feel for you @RockyisMYRhino, so many directions to be pulled in. I hope you can find a bit of time for yourself soon.

I’m doing ok still on my stupid regime. The fluctuations are still there but the trend is downwards albeit at glacial pace. I can’t believe how long it’s taking to lose 1lb! Less than a jar of jam!

We’re off to a festival on Saturday which I’m looking forward to. Just for the day as we’re trying a new one (for us) out. We used to have a couple of small ones that we’d go to every year pre Covid but they didn’t survive financially so we need replacements. Not keen on big ones like Glastonbury - much prefer to see up and coming bands, smaller crowds and cheaper bars! Should see a good deficit on Saturday though as I don’t think I can take food in with me and I’m really squeamish about food from a van 🤣

myladyjane · 07/08/2025 09:04

@RockyisMYRhino that is a lot dude. Hopefully you will get some relaxing time soon.

@PenelopePerseveres pleased the 7.5 is suiting you so far.

@Thelittlestranger pah - cake is a food group mate. It’s not a regular occurrence and life should be full of fun and celebration wherever possible.

@DGonMJ periods are so difficult sometimes. They do mess with your head as well as your body I find, especially at my age. I definitely get the hunger at least one day and on the mj that has perhaps been more pronounced as the ‘background’ hunger is less so real hunger is more evident. I must say I tend to honour it - I tend to want carbs to address it but then it goes.

so I am back from my short holiday where I moved a lot but ate some proper low quality crap. Not loads of it at all but nutrition free. I am due to go up a dose today so will see how that feels.

I am also in operation ‘healthy Jane’ mode. I have just signed up to a fitness app to get me lifting some weights again, have swum lots, steps increased. I’ve got a bunch of podcasts downloaded for walks. Rather excitingly I am having some beauty stuff done today - usually I do it myself but this is my holiday treat. We all agreed after a week in very close proximity (and no rows! With 2 teens and a grumpy husband!) that we would all have today as a day to ourselves so I am going to have a healthy, protein based breakfast and take a walk to Superdrug to get some new lipstick before my day of indulgence.

BlueLimes · 07/08/2025 10:04

Sorry work has been hectic but I have read the updates and everyone is doing so well ❤️

MJalltheway · 07/08/2025 10:14

That sounds fantastic @myladyjane, what a great idea! I think I will pinch that idea for after our next holiday. Nothing planned for a while though, DS going in to A level exam year this year 😬

@RockyisMYRhino hope DH recovers well, it's so hard to try and carve out time for yourself when you have to be the lynchpin for everything around you 🤗

@PenelopePerseveres enjoy your weekend away!

@Thelittlestranger hope your injury heals quickly, it's so frustrating when that happens when you're in a good routine! Running to the station is impressive anyway though, I couldn't run anywhere even at the peak of my fitness!!

@Jins my DH is exactly the same about food vans, I think I just have very low standards, I'll eat from anywhere 😁 Enjoy your mini festival.

@HeidiNotSoHeavy do you have a plan in place for during your recovery? How long should it take?

Sorry if I've missed anyone!

Expensive day for me today, car in for a service and they've already called to give me a list of things that need sorting 😫

I got so bored of listing things on Vinted yesterday I piled a whole load of things into bin bags and dropped them off at the textile recycling instead. So the pile is a little more manageable! It seems that things either sell within the first day or don't sell at all.

Aimingdown · 07/08/2025 10:57

@RockyisMYRhino sending you all good thoughts. You are doing amazingly. Hope husband’s recovery is smooth and you get some time to look after yourself.

@Jins I wish I could cultivate a bit more ick factor around food. I have no boundaries apart from not being terribly keen on snails, and that rarely presents an issue. Actually I have also encountered cold pig ear in chilli sauce that put me off texturally, but none of this is going to translate into weight loss I’m afraid.

My NSV yesterday was walking around in jeans and feeling my legs move slightly inside them rather than feeling that I’d squeezed into them and could burst out any minute. So much more comfortable in warm weather!

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 07/08/2025 11:51

@MJalltheway for the recovery, doc said 2-3 nights at hospital and then no lifting more than 10 kilos for 3 weeks. 3 weeks!!

Otherwise will see. I do like the differing opinions of European and US websites about the same procedure.
European: 'if you have a desk job, you should be able to return in 1-2 weeks'
US: 'If you have your surgery on Friday, you will be back at work on Monday'
😁

Jins · 07/08/2025 11:53

I have so many food related icks. It’s a family joke. I can’t do food vans, market stalls, any sort of temporary set up really. I also can’t cope with delicatessens unless suitably sneeze guarded and fresh bread counters in supermarkets. I once saw a small child with rivers of snot running down his face picking up a loaf of bread and his mother put it back!!!!!! I was nearly sick on the spot but you’ll be pleased to hear I got a member of staff to deal with it.

DH is a bit of a pain on kitchen hygiene at home but will happily eat food cooked on a bin lid, hung from overhead hooks and reheated and anything from any dubious source. So the standing joke is that he’ll happily eat food from a bin but is wary about using chopping boards unless they’ve had boiling water poured over them.

NSV to report. Just measured my waist to cut some elastic and another inch has gone. Nearly 5 inches now. Makes it much easier to disguise my pot belly

myladyjane · 07/08/2025 12:21

Hah @jins- your dh sounds like me! I remember at uni having dog burgers after hard nights out. As a life long non meat eater my dog burgers were less dog than vegetable ‘matter’ but Christ I shudder to imagine. But any boards in my kitchen where a chicken has been vaguely close to are scalded every time.

@HeidiNotSoHeavy am loving Europe vs the us. Europe every time. When I had my foot done, all my European colleagues told me to have more time as a default , my uk ones told me if the nhs were telling me to rest that definitely meant I should and my us ones booked calls in the next day.

Cold pig ear 🤮🤢

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 07/08/2025 15:44

@myladyjane

Europeans' out of offices: "I will not be working until 18 September. All emails will be automatically deleted."

Americans: "I am in the hospital. Email responses may be delayed by up to 30 mins. Sorry for the inconvenience! If urgent, please reach me in the ER at..."

Thelittlestranger · 07/08/2025 16:15

One of my US colleagues came to an off-site strapped to his chemo drip....no joke.

I have now had 3 weeks of not lifting any weights due to holiday and injury and I can vouch that it sucks @HeidiNotSoHeavy. Sorry.

Polkadotdash · 07/08/2025 17:58

Oh the difference in the hysterectomy recovery advice between the UK and US is shocking. Most women have the surgery in the morning and go home in the afternoon in the US. And then wonder why they end up back in the emergency room the day after. It’s bonkers. I’m currently working out if I will be ok to drive next week, at just under the six weeks ‘no driving’ policy when women in US hysterectomy chat are saying ‘I drove 2 days after and was back a work 10 days later’. It’s terrifying.

Polkadotdash · 07/08/2025 18:00

In other news, I’m having a really bad couple of days with suppression and not wanting to eat anything. What’s a good (meat free) go to when you feel like this?

myladyjane · 07/08/2025 18:42

@Polkadotdash can you manage eggs (I sometimes can’t at all). If you can, scrambled eggs on toast? Or an omelette (I loves a mushroom I do).

BlueLimes · 07/08/2025 18:43

@Polkadotdash toasted pita with hummus?

PenelopePerseveres · 07/08/2025 18:45

I’d have an omelette too, cheese and mushroom. Or a baked potato with cottage cheese (has to be Longley Farm though!).

Polkadotdash · 07/08/2025 19:11

I’m ashamed to admit I can’t cook eggs!! I never ate them until I met my husband and I will tolerate a tiny bit of scrambled egg now and again or a tortilla if it’s made with mustard to disguise the egg taste!!! Pathetic, I know.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 07/08/2025 19:25

halloumi? I did NYT Taverna salad yesterday and everybody loved it.

myladyjane · 07/08/2025 19:31

Ohhhh how about Greek yoghurt and some fruit? Maybe some nuts/seeds?

Polkadotdash · 07/08/2025 22:07

I ended up with some plain protein noodles and soy sauce. Not very nutritious, but better than nothing.

DGonMJ · 07/08/2025 22:30

Noodle soup is my go to if I need something plain but nutritious. Soup made from a stock cube, throw in mixed frozen veg (peas sweetcorn carrots), any cooked protein. And then add noodles. If my stomach can handle it add condiments before serving soy, sesame oil, chili crisp, lemon juice (or fish sauce).
