Hope he is ok @RockyisMYRhino and you manage to get away!

BreezyPeer · 27/07/2025 21:38

@RockyisMYRhino hope your husband is OK and hope you get to go on your holiday! Xx

Cabinfever20 · 27/07/2025 21:53

@RockyisMYRhinoSending best wishes to you and your husband and hope you are still able to have your holiday.

RockyisMYRhino · 27/07/2025 22:12

Thanks everyone. He does need surgery which could be at any time in the next week so the holidays cancelled. They have said we could go as long as we could get back in time if they phone him but I don’t fancy having to try and explain to two young DC why we can’t stay for the whole week.

PenelopePerseveres · 27/07/2025 22:14

Sorry to hear that @RockyisMYRhino . I hope he recovers quickly and you get another chance to go away.

Jins · 27/07/2025 22:32

Thinking of you @RockyisMYRhino

mince3point14159265 · 27/07/2025 23:37

So sorry to hear about your husband @RockyisMYRhino 😢. Hoping that the surgery goes well and he makes a full recovery. Sorry you’ve all had to miss out on your holiday too, but the main thing is making sure he’s ok🤞Love to you & all your family 🤗

BlueLimes · 28/07/2025 06:24

@RockyisMYRhino you poor things, I hope everything goes well and you can book a holiday soon.

PenelopePerseveres · 28/07/2025 07:13

Morning everyone. I gave into DC and ordered a takeaway last night. My kids love takeaways because they’ve never featured. Once a year on average. They’ve been badgering me to try a takeaway from a new Chinese restaurant for weeks (of course they could spend their own cash on one 😂).

I didn’t eat much and we only ordered one dish with rice, one dish with noodles and ½ crispy duck between three of us.

There’s more of the two mains with rice and noodles in the fridge than was eaten! DC will eat it today (have googled the heck about reheating a Chinese takeaway).

I’m away a bit and in for a challenging week this week on the work front, but🏆, I’m taking two things with me that I haven’t been able to wear for maybe three years, last worn on my weight gain journey. I found a suit the other day but found another tailored dress yesterday that I used to love 😍.

Happy Monday losers.

BreezyPeer · 28/07/2025 07:35

@RockyisMYRhino so sorry to hear about your holiday. Maybe if you have insurance can claim and rebook for another time.
I am also sending positive vibes that he is all better soon ✨️
@PenelopePerseveres I know what you mean about takeaway! We never have it ( partly because of where we live). My son thinks it's such a novelty, he and his friends got Uber Eats to a football field in a neighbouring town yesterday 🤣( where they were having a kick around)
Goid luck with work and what a great nsv that you have the suit and dress!

RockyisMYRhino · 28/07/2025 07:39

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! He’ll be ok but obviously in a bit of pain etc at the moment. The worst thing is not knowing when his surgery will be (I like to be very in control of things and know what’s happening when). Haven’t seen the DC yet but hopefully they will understand and I’ll try and get a few really fun things done with them this week as and when I can! Have hopefully come up with a solution for the holiday in that my sister might be able to use it instead if I can change the person details so at least the money hasn’t gone to waste and they cane have a much needed holiday as well!

DGonMJ · 28/07/2025 07:49

@RockyisMYRhino hope surgery goes well for your DH, and so sorry you’ve had to cancel your holiday plans.

@PenelopePerseveres last takeaway we had was Turkish - I can’t remember the last time we had Chinese! Crispy duck would be my go to for sure. Glad you’re seeing some inchloss progress through your wardrobe, and good luck with the challenging work week.

Has anyone seen this article this morning:

Have told DH he better get on them soon or he’ll miss the boat!

Demand for weight loss drugs is becoming unsustainable, say pharmacists

Industry group says treatments may need to be restricted to the most overweight

Zempy · 28/07/2025 08:24

Sorry @RockyisMYRhino I hope he’s dealt with soon.

I very rarely have takeaway. Maybe twice a year. It’s such a treat.

Weigh in today and the scales are moving again!

MJalltheway · 28/07/2025 09:39

Sorry about your holiday @RockyisMYRhino and hope DH gets his op soon. 🤗

I've gone down a swimsuit rabbit hole and have ended up with ordering LOADS from lands end to try - 🤞 @2025istheyeari if it's any help, the shortest torso on the cossies I've been trying on have been a brand called Naia. Very nice swimsuits but v pricey even in the sale. The one I tried was £80 half price I think and the body was a good 2-3 inches shorter than I need.

We don't get takeaway often either, we live in quite a rural spot so there are only 2 local places that deliver and one is pretty crappy. Can't get uber eats or deliveroo!
I do love a crispy duck though, I've made it myself the last couple of times we've had it but it takes quite a while. No decent Chinese anywhere near us, it's probably the thing I miss most after having moved out of the city.

have a good day, all!

Jins · 28/07/2025 09:59

All this talk of crispy duck makes me laugh. We have a rescue duck. Joined us as a little yellow thing and bonded so well with our chickens that releasing her when recovered wasn’t going to happen.

Guess what her name is…

MJalltheway · 28/07/2025 10:16

Oh I'd LOVE a pet duck! Do you have any photos @Jins? DH has banned me from getting any chickens or ducks etc because we have a local population of very sleek healthy foxes and he's paranoid it'd be like providing them a nice buffet.

BlueLimes · 28/07/2025 10:34

That’s so interesting - also the number of people who’ve looked into starting. Truly huge health breakthrough (despite what the doomers enjoy predicting!).

I need a swimsuit as well - my size 12 is too big. Great joy despite the scales moving v slowly ! 😊

Jins · 28/07/2025 10:43

@MJalltheway Here’s a selection through from duckling to fully fledged member of the coop.

Loving catching up with all the chat. And the duck pics 🤣🤣🤣

Im back from my hols and missed dose week, didn’t feel massively hungry whilst away but definitely had bigger platefuls to try all of the dishes which took my fancy, so had a shock on the scales this morning with a 7lb gain over the fortnight. I’m not disheartened yet, 4 hours sleep, potentially water retention from the flight and I’m due on could all be playing a factor. As well as two weeks of puddings and drinking not just water , so next weeks WI will probably be more accurate.

I have jabbed this morning though so will be back on track whatever the actual gain turns out to be.

MJalltheway · 28/07/2025 11:57

What fabulous looking chickens @jins! I now have full-on poultry envy.

myladyjane · 28/07/2025 17:40

@RockyisMYRhino I hope your dh has surgery soon and a super quick recovery. So sorry re your holiday.

@jinsnice cocks (sorry but ever the puerile me)

@DGonMJ I now slightly have the fear. I still have a good 2 stone to go and moving through one of my plateaus. Am changing supplier this month and wonder is any do bundles just in case. I’m being silly yes? (I don’t like to have more than 1 pen in the fridge due to dds but maybe.

i am definitely struggling on 7.5 now. One more dose on Thursday then bonus dose the week afterwards with hopefully a bump up a little bit.

I am still getting something out of the 7.5. Full fairly swiftly, not loads of food noise etc but I am getting hungry quite quickly and a bit more inclined to eat the carbs/crappy stuff. Weight wise loss has slowed a bit but my period has also massively twatted around - 10 days late and now here but so light you can barely tell. Bloody peri.

but but but (and I am ecstatic about this) 3 lake swims booked this week after 2 months of none!

@Grecianrainbow I’m fully expecting to gain 7lbs on my holiday, I gained 4lbs in May half term. I think it’s because I’m normally pretty strict so the minute I have a cake my body goes into meltdown. It did come off in a week if that gives you any comfort !

Jins · 28/07/2025 19:05

They are silkie bantams in various colours @MJalltheway. Occasionally it’s hard to tell the difference between the pecking end and the egging end.

Feeling a wee bit sad today. DS1 has been working really hard on his house and decided that today is the day that he moves into it. Obviously I’m thrilled for him but for the first time in his life his bedroom isn’t waiting for him to get back. He’s only 10-15 minutes away but seeing the empty bedroom is a bit weird. I’ll have to shut the door

BlueLimes · 28/07/2025 19:10

Oh @Jins lots of sympathy - it’s tough !

PenelopePerseveres · 28/07/2025 20:27

That's an interesting read @DGonMJ .

I think that's the appeal for my kids. We always lived very rurally, it really wasn't an option. We moved so that I didn't have to be a permanent taxi service when my youngest finished primary school. We had a takaway on moving day which is almost a decade ago and tbh I do not feel the need to repeat it very often. 😂.

Love your hens and ducky @Jins. I used to have hens, Snow White (Leghorn) and the seven hens, some were drawf, some were not. All had names.

I think we will be fine @myladyjane MJ wise, well done on the swimming bookings. How long have you been on 7.5? I've got two doses of my 5 pen left and am considering moving up (have bought a 7.5 pen). I've just worked out that I'll need three more pens after the pens in the fridge to get to the end of the year.

Sorry @Jins, that's tough. It will be me next year, looks like I'll have two leaving home at the same time which will be a bit of a shock to the system, still it is our job to give them wings isn't it. 🙂I'm actually starting to declutter with a view to moving house, I'll either go back to a rural idyll in the national park or go completely the other way with in the city. Absolutely torn.
