Put on weight on mounjaro

Kellyklara · 12/07/2025 11:42

I have been on mounjaro for two months. 2.5mg.

I don't feel like I have been eating anymore than normal.

I have put ON five pounds. It is very annoying.

You need to calorie count and be in a deficit. Dont rush up to next dose either as the above still applies, its not magic - I've been on 2.5mg 19weeks and I've lost just under 2 and a half stone.

magicpant · 14/07/2025 14:10

finalpunt · 14/07/2025 13:43

When I went to order my 2nd pen I tried to stay on 2.5 but it said it wasn't a recommended dose and I would have to declare that I was happy to go off recommended prescription guides

i have never had this happen and have used 2.5mg for 8 months, multiple pharmacies too. How odd.

This was online simple pharmacy. I don't know anyone else who has come across it either

So why does the calorie counting app specifically ask me to input what exercise I have done that day?

It’s irrelevant why, it’s wrong so ignore it.

I posted this thread two weeks ago.

I actually stopped taking mounjaro and i feel so much better. I have a lot more energy.

It wasnt for me.

It is good for some people and that is great.

I know for a fact that you know somewhere why and how you put on weight while allegedly taking WLI, exercising a lot and eating in a calorie deficit.

Mounjaro aside, it is would be very unlikely you would put on weight if eating in a calorie deficit and exercising.

But if you are happier without it then that's great. And tbh, some strawberries and two tins of soup is such an unhealthy diet that your health will thank you for taking a more informed approach.

"Soup is an unhealthy diet".

But thats all i could eat when i was on mounjaro. A lot of solid food made me feel really sick, when i was taking mounjaro. So i began just having soup.

Now that i am off the mounjaro, i can eat everything solid again and not feel sick.

I do feel better health wise, off mounjaro

Yes the side effects can be brutal. I'm struggling a bit but making myself eat 3 small healthy meals a day - a tyoical days diet is: porridge with extra bran and fruit, half a tin of beans on toast with cheese/a tuna salad then chicken or fish and roast veg. My portions are roughly half what they were befire wli. Loads of water and herb tea. I'm losing very quickly, almost too quickly.

If the soup is tinned, yes it will be very low in nutrients.

Greenbird88 · 12/07/2025 12:27

If you’re eating back your exercise calories then I’d expect that to be the issue, they’re often grossly overestimated.

Completely agree, My Fitness Pal (for example) seems to seriously overestimate exercise calories. I don't add them in, just record everything and make sure I am in a calorie deficit.

I know many people don’t like him but team RH actually has a GLP1 plan where you can track your intake. I’m on the normal plan a d as it focuses on protein, fibre and water intake I have lost all my cravings. I also think I was chronically dehydrated. You do have to sign up for a year but I’ sure there may be similar plans.

My Fitness Pal or similar is preferable to this guy's plan IMHO. While some seem to love Team RH, there are loads of stories from people who have been disappointed with what's on offer and tried to cancel only to be pursued by debt collection letters.

A bit of research into GLP1 meal suggestions and macros will give you the info you need on what to eat and there are numerous free TDEE calculators to work out a calorie deficit (My Fitness Pal does this for you). ChatGPT and similar can give you GLP1 meal plans.

That's what I did when I started out, having been a member of Weight Watchers and Slimming World twice, I didn't fancy following another paid 'plan' but doing my own research instead. I'm 3.5 stone down now (and still going).

Glad you are feeling better. I don't know if you have done this, but when I started losing weight this time round, I found out a lot about macros and what keeps you fuller for longer while being a healthy lower calorie choice. It's really helped and my way of eating has changed quite a bit. Good luck with it all.

Kellyklara · 21/07/2025 14:36

One thing i dont miss about mounjaro is the toxic farts.

Jesus my farts were horrendous. They even made me sick.

It was the 2 tins of soup a day that PP was referring to as unhealthy. If you'd been eating homemade I imagine it wouldn't have been mentioned. Not that you'd have had the energy to make it I guess!

Anyway, glad you are feeling healthier now, sorry MJ didn't work out for you.

They stated 2 tins of soup. As you didn't correct it when you quoted them, it seemed reasonable to assume that it was indeed tins. Edit for typo.

I disagree. Its a very minor thing to correct. I dont think most people would bother to correct it.

Anyway it wasnt tins.

Your 1639 post would suggest otherwise as it seems to matter to you.

I'm not arguing about anything, I was wishing you well and simply said that PP hadn't said "soup is an unhealthy diet", as you bizarrely misquoted them, because they clearly stated tinned soup as the concern.

Again, wishing you well.

Good lord OP. You do come across as pricklier than a pissed off hedgehog.
I hope you find a route that works for you.

Exactly this. You can’t live on soup on MJ and gain weight. Not physically possible.

But it seems the OP has now found a better way for herself so this thread is now redundant.

Gettingbysomehow · 22/07/2025 10:17

Fair enough OP mounjaro isn't for everyone. I've lost 5 stone on it but the last stone is being a complete sod. I've been the same weight now for 4 weeks and no amount of effort is eating into that last stone. I'm on 10 mgs. I'm about to start hill walking in a last ditch effort to get the weight off. I'm drinking water like a dying woman in the desert.

Same! 5st 10 down, 11 lbs to go here and seems it’s not going without a fight 😬

I am also walking up hills. And running and strength training and doing yoga and tai chi and a bit of cycling. The good news is I’m getting fitter, and thinner too I think. Just not lighter but who really cares about that hey 🫠
