Put on weight on mounjaro

Kellyklara · 12/07/2025 11:42

I have been on mounjaro for two months. 2.5mg.

I don't feel like I have been eating anymore than normal.

I have put ON five pounds. It is very annoying.

No your post wasn't polite at all. You told me what to do, and again you are telling me what to do.

I am not a child. You are rude. No I don't want to see a doctor. That is my decision . You don't tell me what to do.

As other people have said, water retention, and different stages of the menstrual cylce can lead to weight gain.

OK mate. You should feel free to jog on to one of the other fora that you find more helpful. Or don't. I wouldn't want to tell you what to do.

All the best to you.

I thought that. And I’ve seen another one a week or so ago.

Yes, very obvious.

Yes, very obvious.

No I haven't posted on this forum before. As I have already said. If you don't believe me, I don't care in the slightest. Because it is so unimportant.

Again, as I asked before, and no one answered, what on earth is the point of writing that anyway?

"You wrote a thread on here before"

What is the point of saying that to someone. Is it some kind of gotcha moment? It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Posters write loads of different threads on mumsnet, all the time.

Seems very odd to give up on a medication without actually trying a therapeutic dose but nobody’s going to force you!

It’s also very odd that you were told to stay on 2.5mg - which prescriber said that? In my experience the only time they say anything about the dose is to encourage you to move up. Presumably because the higher doses are the ones that have been tested in studies, and they’re more expensive too.

Yes, very obvious.

Yes it's a similar pattern of username too. Two alliterative female first names squashed together. And yes, the posting style, defensiveness, grammatical style etc, are all identical.

I usually give benefit if the doubt and come from a place of assuming that a poster is genuinely after help or opinions. But with this poster, and the other one, it's following a very familiar pattern. Problem with the medication, posters try to offer advice, poster becomes angry and states that they didn't want advice and the medication doesn't work - then loudly proclaim their intention to stop taking it.

I'm not sure what the end game is as it's not hugely convincing. I think it's just someone looking for a bunfight.

Didn't your prescriber explain that the 2.5 is only a loading does while you tiltrate up? I would ask for your money back if he told you to stay on 2.5 when it clearly wasn't working. Sounds like he doesn't understand how the meds work.

IDontHateRainbows · 12/07/2025 18:20

You may need to increase your dose. My experience of mj is, if the dose is right you shouldn't have to try to hard to lose weight it should happen naturally. I have lost 2st and now maintaining within normal bmi.

All this you aren't reducing your calories enough... you shouldn't have to even think about it! I didn't/ don't anyway. But I'm on 10mg and maintaining on this dose.

You get them quite a lot on the WLI board, I've noticed. There's something about it being quite a positive space that draws them in.

My personal favourites were SideEffectsLady who shat herself in an airport but still insisted on moving up the doses, whilst simultaneously talking about how dangerous WLIs were and that really weird woman with a normal BMI who kept posting really condescending 'advice' threads like she was a doctor. I think that one had a husband on the meds but it honestly cane off like she had a fetish of some kind.

Oh I loved that one dispensing advice, she was comedy gold 😁

JustPinkFinch · 12/07/2025 18:34

100% the 'what is this doing to our bodies?' poster from a few weekends ago. Even down to the obsessive post editing.

Bizarre.

Yeah that's the one I had in mind.

KaitlynnFairchild · 12/07/2025 18:35

OP, I hope you are ok, I think discontinuing this medication is the right choice for you.

My husband tried to ban me from WLI because he said they affect my mood. I am starting to think he might have had a point!

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 12/07/2025 18:36

Have you had your thyroid checked?

All these posters insisting that it must be you doing something wrong, or that your metabolism isn’t any different from anyone else’s, treat bodies like they’re machines.

Ask for some blood tests to rule out physical causes that might be preventing you from being able to lose weight.

Which one was that? I haven't read that one.
I think it's weird that you seem to think that I have written every thread on the Mounjaro forum. Not that it matters very much, but I don't like being called a liar.

If only there was a way to show all of my posting history. You would see that this is my first thread on this forum.

Anyway, I think I am done with Mounjaro. It is more the cost factor for me than anything else.

Funny how the person on the last two threads did the exact same thing - picked a fight, gaslit everyone and then disappeared.

They must think we’re dim. 😂😂

Which thread is that one?

I just tried to look but it was too long ago to still be visible (on the app anyway). She was very jolly and bossy - come along everyone, I’m going to tell you all about how to lose weight on Mounjaro - but she wasn’t actually on MJ and just stated the bleedin’ obvious all the time. And got really touchy when people called her out, thought everyone was most ungrateful for not appreciating her wisdom 😂
