Put on weight on mounjaro

Kellyklara · 12/07/2025 11:42

I have been on mounjaro for two months. 2.5mg.

I don't feel like I have been eating anymore than normal.

I have put ON five pounds. It is very annoying.

Are you tracking?
it's physically impossible to gain weight in a calorie deficit so if you've gained weight then you aren't in a deficit.
are you feeling appetite suppression?

This. Biscuit

I'm actually really pleased for this thread's existence now, because it's given us all a chance to reminisce fondly about Mounjaro Joyce Grenfell.

I havent read the full thread so apologies if this haa been covered.

ive been on MJ for well over a year, 45kg down, been maintaining at 52kg since April.

2.5mg didnt do anything for me at all. It is considered a micro-dose. The advice is stay on a dose as long as it is working for you so you dont go up too quickly, however, if a dose isnt working. Move up. Theres little point spending months on a dose that doesnt work.

i never counted calories. For me i become obsessed and that becomes a chore and i quit. I didn’t really even change my diet all that much. What i did do was make a conscious effort to eat protein and veg first then carbs, and pay attention to that moment i started to feel full, then remove the food. That full feeling is much faster and much easier to recognise with MJ so its less of a challenge than “dieting”. But i never tracked a single calorie.

Weight fluctuates. A few lb/kg is normal. So i weigh daily and its given me a good idea of those natural fluctuations. But more importantly, get a good tape measure, i have an arboleaf one, and measure every few weeks.

lastly, its a marathon not a sprint. It took 12 months for me to hit my goal, and while ive lost 90lb/45kg i had sometimes a month of nothing changing, it takes time. The 2.5/5mg dont work for everyone. I saw real Progress from 7.5mg onwards, and i went up to the max of 15mg. Ive now dropped back to 7.5mg for maintenance. Its a different journey for everyone though. You have to find the dose that works for you

I take mounjaro for diabetes. My blood sugar got worse on 2.5 & 5, only improved when I moved up to 7.5. It was weird, but bigger doses have helped.

Lots of people use VPNs. I do!

BabyCatFace · 12/07/2025 19:29

Just a comment on the 2.5 dose and what people are referring to it as. It's not a micro dose or a loading dose. A micro dose is a very small amount which is below the evidenced effective range. A micro dose of Mounjaro would be about 1.25mg or less. A loading dose is a large dose of a medication given at the start, not a small dose. 2.5mg is just a small dose. It might have some positive effects, it might have none, and it might have some unpleasant effects. It's a small dose to accustom your body to it.

threeeggsontoast · 12/07/2025 19:36

Oh my…I’m reading it now. She’s been put on this earth to ‘help fat people’. What a mission. 😂

Kellyklara · 12/07/2025 16:40

No I don't, "obviously need to move up".

No one has to stay on any medication, if they don't want to.

I have decided to stop taking it. It is not cost effective for me, and I don't want to spend more money for higher doses. The huge pricre of Mounjaro is not worth it, in my opinion

Even if it works at a higher dose, I have lost more weight before through using other methods. So I do not want to take it anymore.

Whatever…you’ve obviously come here looking for a fight rather than actual advice.

I’ll go back to patting myself on the back and enjoying my incredible weight loss.

Sorry, do you think that I am all of those posters?

Because I am definitely not.

So am I supposed to have made five threads on the Mounjaro forum now? That has gone up from two threads.

Next it'll be ten threads. Haha its so crazy.

If only there was a way to prove it..

Well, I have no problem affording Mounjaro, so I’ll keep taking it as long as my Dr allows me to.

I can afford Mounjaro. I just think it is a waste of money for me, when I could be spending that 100 pounds on something else every month.

But I am happy that it is working for you

I already wrote why I started this thread. It was to share my experience. It's not that deep.

Do you always take life so seriously?
