Disappointed with Mounjaro

India4 · 09/07/2025 12:56

this is my 5 week on Mounjaro, I moved up a dose on Monday. My appetite is suppressed which I am grateful for, no sickness or upset tum in fact I’m constipated! My issue is this, I have only lost 1 st in these weeks despite calorie deficit …is this normal ? I really thought I would lose a lot quickly.
Sorry to sound so negative but looking for advice to quell my ignorance &
fristration.

The media attention of these WLIs has made them seem like miracles that melt stones off in days. They are hormone adjustments that can help improve diet and portion control. They can help a LOT but you do still need to eat healthily and in proportion and exercise.

Losing a huge amount of weight quickly is really unhealthy. You are doing it right and have lost a lot of weight already.

I'm a very slow loser on these meds, sometimes 1lb a week, sometimes nothing but the overall loss has been incredible.

Modernme · 09/07/2025 16:01

It took me 18 months to shift 3 stone years ago.
Through hard work and eating properly.
No jym no neddles just my living room floor no junk and hard work.
It all starts with a good change in mind set.

InfoSecInTheCity · 09/07/2025 16:01

I have lost an Irish Setter while on Mounjaro since September last year and am currently a newborn giraffe smaller than my heaviest recorded weight.

I think that's a good loss, I'm week 6 and 17lbs down so losing at a similar rate to you.

Thanks I’m rather ignorant about this med, I was 14st 6 now 13st 5….seem to be sticking!

This is my journey - it's in lbs. I like to compare each 2lb loss to a bag of sugar. I am currently around 19 bags of sugar lighter than I was in January!!

Disappointed with Mounjaro

PickleSarnie · 09/07/2025 13:02

You've lost 14lbs in 4 and a bit weeks? That's a lot. Obviously you're more likely to lose more in first couple of weeks but even taking that into consideration, 14 lbs is still a lot. Losing really quickly just isn't sustainable or healthy and will be much harder to keep off.

Thankyou

This is what 42 weeks on Mounjaro looked like for me,

Can I just say that’s a smashing Excel spreadsheet. Kudos to you 🎉

Twelftytwo · 09/07/2025 16:11

Ffs how much more weight would you like to have lost than 1 stone in 4 weeks????!

I've lost 3 stone with mounjaro, over a year, and I'm delighted. Extremely rapid weight loss is not desirable for me.

SilenceInside · 09/07/2025 16:11

You’ve lost 15 pounds, 1st and 1 lb to be exact. Which is about 9% of your starting weight. Probably a decent change to your BMI as well?

Hopefully by now you can see that you’re making above average progress, and it’s nothing at all to be disappointed by.

genesis92 · 09/07/2025 16:11

Oh for gods sake. You ONLY lost a stone? In 5 weeks?! Are you insane?

so sick of seeing these posts where people are disappointed by their excellent rate of weight lost. Really starting to piss me off. I’ve lost nearly a stone in about 4 months on it.

Movinghouseatlast · 09/07/2025 16:12

I lost 2lbs a week and was delighted. A stone is an awful lot in a month.

Darlinghag · 09/07/2025 16:13

A few days is not sticking!

Honestly, I get the frustration but its really, really important to manage your expectations. If you start in the mindset it will fail, you will fail. And you haven’t failed because you’ve lost a load!

You’re hardly even through the second months, if you’ve even started 5mg? Lots of people don’t lose at all initally until on a higher dose.

I did not have a whoosh initally, because I was already in a deficit. I am now 11 months in, 103lbs down and 2/3 of that was through Mounjaro.

Consistency in your behaviour is key. Calorie deficit, water, protein, exercise where you can, jab on a proper schedule. The weight will follow you eventually.

Noone wants to increase the chances of excessive loose skin, muscle weakness and digestive issue like pancreatitis and gall stones because they wanted to shift 100lbs in two months.

Twelftytwo · 09/07/2025 16:13

Do you want^^ to get gall stones and your hair to fall out or something?

Sticking?

Honestly Op, you are not going to get on with Mounjaro if you don’t give your head the much mentioned mumsnet wobble and get a grip.

I keep trying to warn everyone about this and low and behold someone my dh knows, his mum is fighting for her life with pancreatitis and had been on these jabs... its happening unfortunately! And its sickening, he is so sad and saying why didn't she just do slimming world like she usually does! ( or any other proper nutrition plan)

Darlinghag · 09/07/2025 16:15

@Pinkflowersinavase you can get those issues on any weightloss, the issue is the rapid loss not, the actual treatment (as someone who had her gallbladder out after years of yoyoing on Slimming World!!)

Yellowbirdcage · 09/07/2025 16:15

I started at 14.2.
13 months on Wegovy and I’ve lost 2 stone 2lbs. (And £2,000). Very happy with that. I feel so much better.
OP. Are you paying for it? It can be hard to have a very slow loss when it’s cost £240 a month but still worth it to me. Expect to slow down. Slow and steady is the best.
