Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

1000 replies

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

What a beautiful quote @RobinEllacotStrike ! Made me cry.

Well done @InfoSecInTheCity ! Bloody brilliant and inspiring.

And @Reginaphalangeeeee I totally feel what you're saying. Self-acceptance is a tough journey.

Well done all on losses and NSVs. I got my 10mg pen from Bolt today. It's been in the post for two days but hopefully will be okay. Also heard from PillSorted about their new membership scheme and prices. It's not great but I am planning to do 5mg doses from my 10mg pen and see how that goes before I decide what next. I don't want to have to stop but the prices are crazy. I might look into wegovy but then what happens if they put those prices up too?

HumBumBum · 21/08/2025 20:27

@InfoSecInTheCityyou look fabulous, well done / I love the silk shirt look!

NewbieMJ · 21/08/2025 21:00

Congratulations @InfoSecInTheCity You are amazing! x

Slowrunning · 21/08/2025 21:24

Amazing @InfoSecInTheCity you are inspiring.

I am also realising that my body is lumpier and bumpier than I ever realised. It's amazing what the fat was hiding!

But I don't care, I'm proud of my body and everything it has been through to get me here.

I have also become a complete vinted addict. I have really enjoyed shopping for bargains in smaller sizes. Today I got a lovely jacket in a size 10!!! I'm not a size 10 in anything else but this fits me beautifully. I don't think I have ever been a size 10 in my entire life!

But....... I still feel really big, I still think I'm bigger than everyone else and I'm not sure how long it will take me to come to terms with the new me. It does not help that I feel that I'm bound to put the weight back on again as soon as I stop the jabs.

Huge congratulations @InfoSecInTheCity! You look fantastic and I bet you feel it, too.

I've brought the children away on holiday this week, the first time I’ve done so without another adult (we’ve been away since DH left but always with at least one other family so there have been other adults around). It has been intense and definitely not restful but so much fun.

I’ve been ostriching about the price increases and couldn’t order before now as I’ve been away but I need to get sorted now. I’m usually loyal to Medicine Marketplace but they are completely OOS in all doses. Please can anyone recommend somewhere with 5mg in stock? Not MedExpress or affiliates please!

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I just got a 7.5mg pen from Ashcroft Oharmacy and they had 5mg pens in stock too. They delivered very quickly - am v relieved I've at least got the next few weeks sorted - hope you get a pen too.

Thank you all for your kind words, I do really appreciate you all. My husband knows I am taking MJ, but no one else, but he definitely doesn’t know the depth of the demons with my weight. He has never ever struggled with weight, well he struggles to keep it on in general and there are so few people who I think really understand. I have a few friend who are a little overweight and I feel they ‘big themselves and their appetite’ for me. I love they do this to help make me feel comfortable but I can see through it a bit like my children started to realise when I was ‘letting them win’.
Anyway, I am dealing with a lot but so grateful for how far I have come. Doing this for myself feels like the biggest self-love I can offer myself. I deserve to be healthy and happy. My lovely dad who I miss every day would be so pleased to see me looking after myself and although I doubt I would be honest about MJ with him I would have very gratefully received his compliments.

speaking of complements and celebration….
@InfoSecInTheCity you look incredible. Well done for keeping going all this time and for future plans in strength. This is truely self love!

sorry if this is a dumb question but given issues with delivery I wanted to check.
i always refrigerate my pens. I know they don’t have to be and that once opened, use within 30days.
if a delivery not arrived on time and not cool…. Does it still have to be used within 30days if not opened.

alltablenochairs · 21/08/2025 23:35

@Reginaphalangeeeee I can only speak for myself but RM kindly didn't deliver a pen for me earlier this week but did deliver a load of temu stuff grrrrrr.
That pen is now my 'warm' pen so I'm keeping hold of it and using it first. I think the 4th dose out of it will be something like day 34 for me- a risk I am willing to take especially as it hasn't been anything remotely like warm or sunny here. Others may think differently though. I dont 5th dose my pens, mainly because I am severely needle phobic and having syringes and needles in the house ain't happening.

You are absolutely right that you deserve to be healthy and happy. As does everyone else who posts on this thread. I also dont tell anyone about my MJ usage apart from my DH and my bestie. As far as I am concerned no-one else needs to know. Like you said, very few people understand.

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 08:28

Having a mini whoosh, with a 2lb loss today, making 3lbs off this week after a couple of static weeks! I've had a nice normal week of drinking lots of water and eating my usual meals, so it's a relief that the same old same old, which I'm very happy with, still works!

I'll start a new thread later today - the MJ dramas filled this one up quickly at the end..!

I still struggle with the concept of not telling people about being on MJ - I tell anyone that comments on my weight loss/asks how I'm doing it, because I'm determined not to feel ashamed that I need help managing this illness called obesity.

I saw an interview with Serena Williams last night - she's been on it and talked about how even when she was playing professional tennis, training for 5 hours a day, she still couldn't lose the weight she wanted/needed to and manage her insulin levels - especially after having 2 x children. She said she had to see her weight as an opponent and she had tried every other way to beat it, but couldn't, so tried MJ and succeeded!

It was lovely hearing someone that famous just talk about it - like the Oprah interview - no shame 😊

I think I'm a bit evangelical about spreading the word - from someone who is entirely non-religious!! 🤦‍♀️😀

@Reginaphalangeeeee somebody elsewhere linked to this temperature excursion tool from Eli Lilly https://tempex.lilly.com/uk/ .Obviously you have to pretend you're a UK healthcare professional. 😉 And absolutely you deserve ALL the health and happiness.

I binged (seems like the wrong choice of words in this context but hey ho) that Biggest Loser doc one night. I never watched it at the time - I don't like most reality TV and it always seemed like the worst exploitation in a crowded field. The footage of all the abuse and yelling during exercise was deeply uncomfortable to watch. None of the producers or trainers came out of it well, and the psychologist talking about how being fat can make you desperate to be both seen and yet not seen was so on point. I know the stuff about weight rebound is worrying for all of us but they lost weight INSANELY fast, going by the clips from the weekly weigh-ins.

@InfoSecInTheCity you're looking fantastic and are, as ever, an inspiration.

I couldn't get to sleep last night and ended up mining my pile of jeans in the wardrobe and trying on my "loved and lost" size 16 Tu straight leg jeans which have't fitted for nearly 20 years, and some old M&S size 16 boot cuts as well. They were too tight on the waist to be comfortable yet but they did up and my actual legs were fine in them. 😃

Lilly Temperature Excursion Assessment Tool

UK healthcare professionals only. Tool for evaluation of stability of Lilly medicines in the event of inadvertent temperature deviation.

@MooBaggage cross posted! Hurrah for a whoosh and I didn't know about Serena Williams. Good for her, especially for being open about it!

Darlinghag · 22/08/2025 09:36

@InfoSecInTheCity congratulations, you do look fabulous!!

Weigh Day.

49yo secondary assistant headteacher. Largely sedentary life, especially currently during summer holidays. Right now I'm working on accepting that if I don't exercise much then I don't need to consume many calories. I have OMAD and its usually a salad of some description or lean protein and veg. I'm a recovering (self diagnosed) sugar addict. I'm going no sugar, no carbs.

Victory this week is 1 stone loss

18.07.25 - 17st 11 BMI 43.0
25.07.25 - 17st 5 BMI 42.0
01.08.25 - 17st 2.5 BMI 41.6
08.08.25 - 17st 0.5 BMI 41.2
15.08.25 - 16st 12 BMI 40.8
22.08.25 - 16st 8.5 BMI 40.2

Target next week:
BMI under 40 (16st 7.5 - 1lb to go)
Being under 16 1/2 stone

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 10:32

Really good going @Trinck !!

My starting BMI was also exactly 43 - although I was much heavier..!

8 months later and I'm down to BMI 33.1 - so it's possible and you can do it!

@MabelSpan is ny starting weight twin and you are my starting BMI twin - and it's great to see us all doing so well 😍

Great summary , @Trinck . What’s so cool is that better starts from when you begin, not at the end , so you will already be healthier and looking good. I’m no expert but that doesn’t sound much food though. Could you eat a bit more and incorporate some walking and some weights? Hope that isn’t presumptuous of me. I’m not minimalising your achievements, but our bodies need fuel .
i just paid £297 for my next pen , and ordered syringes to do the golden dose, but my current pen had only the golden dose left. I grabbed my pliers and got it out. Amazing the incentive that saving 75 quid provides! I’m also going to delay injections by a day or 2 if suppression still seems strong. And I’m currently on 10 mg but I may start titrating down. I need to keep Mounjaro in my life.

RobinEllacotStrike · 22/08/2025 11:07

The Family Chemist emailed re stock this morning - I'm currently on 10 & will be going up to 12.5 so I'm glad I orderd my new pen quickly when I did or I would have nothing for next week.

Dear Patient,

We would like to update you on the current availability of Mounjaro. At present, the following strengths are in stock:

  • 2.5mg
  • 5mg
  • 7.5mg
Unfortunately, the 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg pens will not be available until after 1st September. This is due to a national shortage and restrictions placed by Eli Lilly, who have capped supply for all pharmacies.
QueenOfHiraeth · 22/08/2025 12:12

I am flushed with my own success today as I have made the most wonderful salad dressing, dip, sauce thingy that is gorgeous and healthy. It's a modified version of an Ina Garten recipe and it contains the cottage cheese you all love (and I am trying to). I used the cottage cheese pot to replace cups in the original recipe:
1 pot cottage cheese blended until smooth
1 pot mayonnaise
1 pot chopped spring onions, white and green bits
1 pot chopped fresh basil leaves
1/4 pot fresh lemon juice
2 tsp crushed garlic
2tsp anchovy paste (I left that out as I didn't have any)
salt and pepper to taste and I added a touch of natural sweetener as it was a bit tart for my taste
It is divine! We've had it drizzled on oven roast broccoli and chicken thighs, had it as salad dressing and tonight will have a dollop on salmon fillets.

In other news, having gained 1kg last week I have lost it and another half a one this week, probably because I have had a cold so can't taste anything and have expelled vast quantities of snot (sorry TMI!) It has, however, taken me to my most recent target 😇
I haven't been this weight since before my youngest child who is now mid-30s so have no idea where to aim for so am just setting targets 5kg lower each time until I feel ready to think of maintenance

mince3point14159265 · 22/08/2025 13:18

Congratulations on reaching your amazing goal @InfoSecInTheCity , you are looking fabulous and a real inspiration to all of us! 😍😍😍

Have had the opposite problem to a lot of you and now think that RM must stand for Random Mail. They delivered my pen on Sunday and just left it on the front doorstep in the full sun, despite there being a discreet meter cupboard in the shade that is our nominated safe place. 😡 Luckily we got home an hour later and the ice packs hadn't completely melted. And some toe-rag hadn't pinched it!

Also bought into the Nivea Q10 hype! Given my great age thought I may as well go for the 60+ version like @Apprenante , but also bought the one with gradual tan, as I'm going away next week, and it was on special offer at Ocado. Have been using it for a couple of weeks and whilst it's too early to say whether it's making a difference to the loose skin, it has given me a little light colour, so at least I'm not completely pasty and wibbly-wobbly! 😂

Now, if someone could stop chopping onions round here (thanks @RobinEllacotStrike !), I might be able to read some more of your wonderful posts...

mince3point14159265 · 22/08/2025 13:22

That dressing/dip sounds delicious @QueenOfHiraeth 🤤 Did you blend everything together or is it just the cottage cheese you blended until smooth?

Sam187 · 22/08/2025 13:51

W12 D4 - I'm a daily weigher but the Friday weigh is always my 'official' one of the week.

SW 119.9kg
CW 106.9kg
GW 94.9kg (interim)

I am buzzing to realise that this week I have 3 wins, the new scale bracket I mentioned the other day, over the 2st down mark and over 10% of my body weight lost!

Feeling good for it and have some mini-goals in place to keep moving. Holidays in Sept so I'd like another 7lbs off for those, then another holiday in Oct I'd love another stone by then. They're mini targets though, and if they move, they move. I'm happy with any downward trend ☺️

Happy Friday folks 🎉

I just realised my own error and came back to edit but it won't let me. I should have said chuck it all in a blender and blend till smooth!
I just blended the cottage cheese first as I have a bit of a yuk reaction to the curdy bits.
@WeAllHaveWings @RobinEllacotStrike Please note so you don't all curse me for a lumpy thingy if you try it!

OnwardsDownwards · 22/08/2025 14:44

Argh, I am now half a pound off a 3 stone loss. Having lost 2 1/2 stone fairly easily it’s taken me a month to lose 5 lbs. Which I know is the right direction and sustainable but is driving me round the bend!

Happily though I’ve ordered my next pen, having got frustrated at my current provider removing all current patient discount codes (may have sent them a stroppy message) which they claim is to prevent panic buying but seems rather close to profiteering to me. Then half the providers were out of stock. But nicked @Trinck ’s code off the referral board so I’m sorted now!

My mission this weekend is to find some Longley Farm cottage cheese as I’ve not tried it yet. Thinking of cooking a load of egg bites for the freezer.

OnwardsDownwards · 22/08/2025 14:44

Oh, and I keep getting ads for Q10 on Facebook thanks to you all 😂.
