Mounjaro/Wegovy with > 5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 9!

MooBaggage · 08/07/2025 08:50

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

@akaFrosty thank you so much for recommending Nivea Q10. I had meant to do a before pic but forgot. I can see a real difference to my neck - either that or my eyesight is deteriorating!

We're on hols by the seaside in Fife. Having a lovely time but not being great with good. Still eating a lot less than pre-mounjaro me though and to be fair I can cope with a one week gain.

MooBaggage · 20/08/2025 07:53

Bloody hell I'm going to have to buy some Nivea Q10 now - it's like the new Eufy scales/hammock! 😁

I echo the sentiment, can already see a difference using the Q10 on my neck and it's only been a week ☺️

W12 D2 for me and I'm 27.6lbs down... Need that pesky 0.4lbs for the 2stone. Firmly in a new stone bracket which is nice. Off to Italy and Lisbon in 3wks so would like a little push ahead of those.

Touch wood, but seems to have no real SEs since moving up to 5mg this week (actually 5.5 accidentally 🙈). Here's hoping this continues.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 08:40

So pleased you are all hearing about your orders.
I am panicking and not sure what to do.
On subscription with SheMed so not used to getting prescriptions else where. I have 5 months left with them but have much further to go.
Not heard anything from them except a generic email saying they are working behind the scene. My request has not been processed yet so awaiting prescription & due on holiday next week. I am worried it won't come in time.

I don't want to leave SheMed but worried what will happen. Could I start as a new customer somewhere else that have stock to get a 10mg pen without stopping current provider? Do all make you contact GP? Is there anyway around this madness. I was just happily and naively plodding along this journey on my subscription thinking well I will see what 12 months does and go from there.
I am 1lb from a 5 stone loss with 4 stone more to go.
I am so worried. Completely understand why people are stockpiling this magic drug. I would if I could.

GiveMeWordGames · 20/08/2025 08:49

@Reginaphalangeeeee is there an independent pharmacy near you that's doing in-person appointment prescribing?

If your immediate concern is about getting a pen before you go on holiday you could try taking evidence of your Shemed prescription in with you to show you're not a total newbie and explaining the situation.

This whole debacle has been the first time I've felt the advantage of being an in-person customer because, firstly, the numbers who can order from the place is self-limiting (unlike the people going bonkers ordering multiple pens from multiple online places) and also because I was able to go in and have a conversation about the situation with someone rather than hanging on for email updates. It's never been as cheap as all the online discounting (but not as expensive as, say, Voy and Boots) but they had, ironically, just dropped their prices by about £20, only a week before the current shitstorm hit.

I am definitely singing the praises of Q10.

SilenceInside · 20/08/2025 09:12

@Reginaphalangeeeee can you contact SheMed at all? I don't know if they have a telephone helpline, or an online chat/app chat type thing? If you can explain that you are away next week and are waiting for your next pen, maybe they can expedite things for you.

Darlinghag · 20/08/2025 09:16

Well done @MooBaggage and @Sam187

re: SheMed - might they hold prices til the end of your year as its a subscription? @Reginaphalangeeeee my understanding is to move suppliers you just need to retain proof of your previous doses. Keep the boxes with the sticker, old pen etc, and whatever emails you get confirming orders.

i need the q10 now!! My neck has firmed up a bit but still wrinkly! Am going to check the shops later. What colour is the bottle?

tried on my size 16 jeans again earlier, all fit and zip, and one is pretty much ready to wear!! So excited! Its been too hot until today so will start some wear next week i think!!

AnneinEdinburgh · 20/08/2025 09:20

@MooBaggage I hit 141/2 stone this week too hooray! Very strangely I'm loving 15mg, the first one with no side effects. Not even constipation! Just think if we sell our kidneys we will be even lighter 😆

WeAllHaveWings · 20/08/2025 09:22

Anyone expecting 5mg from Oushk today looks like they have problems with a delivery inbound from their wholesaler arrive late and they are dispatching today for delivery tomorrow instead.

Pain in neck as I planned to be in today and have tesco, marks and Spencer, Next and a DPD delivery all lined up for today as well as Oushk and out tomorrow afternoon 🤦🏻‍♀️

GiveMeWordGames · 20/08/2025 09:34

Congrats @AnneinEdinburgh , @Sam187 and @MooBaggage on the NSVs and SVs!

HumBumBum · 20/08/2025 09:45

My order is confirmed but not despatched so now I’m worried that they’ll post it out on Friday over a bank holiday weekend and it won’t arrive till Tuesday (it’s happened before with my supplier!)

@TitiansheI’m nearly a year in, with 73lbs gone and still on 5mg with no real plan to move up. Stay on the lowest dose that works for you.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 11:13

Thanks all. I have contacted SheMed. They have now taken payment and issued prescription so I guess I wait for that.
I haven't considered an independent face to face prescriber. What's the best way to find one?

Hopefully my subscription will continue for the next 5months and I will then have to consider options then. I know I will still have lots to loose by then (aiming 4 stone).
Maybe this madness will have settled by then.

When I started this journey in January, many were saying that due to demand and possible oral medication licence that prices could drop. Sad this now look unlikely. Is there a patent that runs out that would allow other manufacturing anytime soon?

Anyway. Trying not to loose my head but guess we all just have to carry on... One pen at a time.
Good progress so far for me on 10mg.
Hit over 30kg loss and celebrating BMI 34.9!

The Q10 cream. Can someone tell me more???? I have crepe looking bingo wings & a turkey neck!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 11:18

Just to clarify. The nivea Q10. Is it body cream or face cream?
I have spent a fortune of Clinique retanol creams and wrinkles a bit better but need something good to slap on else where….

Oh B belly. My upper B belly has deflated and sagged. Anyone else?? I can not see my belly button. It is now hidden in a crease which kinda look like a smiley face.
Not sure what I expected my apron B belly to look like in the future but it is super squishy right now.
My daughter hugged me and said I am softer than her best squishmallow 😬🙄🫣 sad and happy at the same time

It's body lotion - there are two different colours of bottle but the one all of us seem to have gone for is the dark blue one. I've been using it on my neck, decolletage and upper arms.

I already knew the pharmacy that I use because they're DH's nominated place for his GP prescription meds. They're quite front-footed and pretty much ran the covid vaccination programme single-handedly around here, which has enabled them to expand and open up a new shop and Pharmacy First clinic in the centre of town. The window had weight loss clinic ads in it so I went to their website to see what was what. I guess you would need to start by searching local pharmacies and then do similar?

My meno lower-b belly is not going anywhere other than downwards and is super squishy. I mean, it has got a bit smaller but compared to the rest of me it's hanging (ha!) in there with determination.

Darlinghag · 20/08/2025 12:01

@GiveMeWordGames blue it is - thanks!

on b bellys - mine is there, but yes very much deflated. I have some fat remaining but i suspect the crease will not leave without surgery. My lower apron is now larger than my top part, but i can see that starting to change shape too! I thought by 13st i would see that much reduced but while it has shrunk and some change of shape is happening, its not radical. Maybe a couple more stone will make a more defined difference!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 12:08

Thanks @GiveMeWordGames I will look for the blue body cream.

The B belly evolution crazy right. I am now at my pre-pregnancy weight (14years ago). I had a B bump but honestly… I look nothing like I did back then at the same weight. I look like a marshmallow or wax figure that has melted and got droopy.
I think my bum is smaller and not too saggy, but the belly is horrendous.

Sam187 · 20/08/2025 13:14

Here's the link to the magic 😂 https://amzn.eu/d/6yU6EkO

Also, whilst I love that everyone has had a reduction in their B-bellies, it makes me a little sad how negatively we still speak about ourselves. It's hard, but I think we should encourage each other to say more positive things about ourselves, celebrate that they've gone down and we are feeling fitter, healthier and more confident rather than focusing on the crepe skin, folds, deflation. We've done some wonderful things for our bodies of late, let's celebrate those wins 🎉

Apprenante · 20/08/2025 13:35

Nivea do a body lotion, same as the blue bottle skin firming but for the (ahem) over-60s. I'm well over 60 so I'm trying it on my saggy arms. Still saggy but I think the skin is less wrinkly.

P.S I don't post here much as I don't quite meet the criterion of >5 but I read everything. Lost nearly 2.5 stone since the 1st May, 2 stone more to go to reach a BMI of about 27. Planning to stop there as I've read that for ancient old more mature people it's better to be a little bit higher than BMI 25

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/08/2025 13:43

on body image - one of the things that has "risen to the top" as a result of a year on MJ, is all about body image. I now see that how I see, feel and talk about my body - espeically internal dialogue - is the same at 86kgs as it was at 124kgs.

I can tell you how weight loss has changed my body - how my body is stronger, leaner, how great it feels, pain is gone, how much I love & appreciate my body. All these things are true.

Yet when I think about my body, it seems to be negativity that dominates. I can see how this has been with me all my life. I know that if I am to have any decent shot at keeping this weight off, or to reframe that, if I am going to have a shot at maintaining a healthy weight long term, I need to get to the bottom of this. The work I am doing with The Untethered Soul is really helpful, and I am now looking for a suitable therapist who might be able to help unpick things futher.

I have been watching a show called Physical on Apple+. It was framed as a show about exercise/aerobics in the 80's but really its a show about bullemia/eating disorders. Much of the story is told through the internal thoughts of the protagonist played by Rose Byrne. While I've never been bullemic, I am starting to see how much of an eating disorder overeating is, and also how it is a mental health condition. While ther is much in the show I can't relate to, the thoughts, the negitive self speak, her anger, and the internalisation of her emotional life I've found fascinating, applicable to me & very moving. While much of the show is bonkers entertainment, on a personal level its been an eye opener & helpful albeit in quite a confronting way.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/08/2025 14:04

Thanks @RobinEllacotStrikethat is useful to reflect on.

I have been watching the Netflix show about the biggest looser. Such an eye opener & it has been both painful and helpful thinking about the lengths people will go to to loose weight and the public’s perception of overweight people. I am left thinking that people who get to a massive weight like I have, it is so neglectful to simply tell them to loose weight or (my preference) not say anything. It doesn't happen by accident but a slow decline in mental health a big part. I have had episodes of bullimia which I have never sought help for or admitted to anyone. Fear of being caught and people knowing stopped me along side other health issues made worse by it. So I settled with a binge eating approach.

As for avoiding negative talk about B belly. I’m sorry if offended. It feels a safe place here and a unique experience for me talking openly. You wouldn't catch me saying anything of the sought aloud. I wouldn't even admit my weight, BMI, clothes size or my unhappiness about my weight to anyone. Not even my husband so I am grateful for the space here.

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/08/2025 15:52

Big hugs for you @Reginaphalangeeeee It feels important that you felt comfortable to mention your episodes of bullimia here. That was brave & I hope maybe a small relief to share. We are dealing with so much, and a lot of it is a complete mystery in so many ways. The head stuff is tricky.

talk about your B belly & wobbly bits all you want. Though I do think that it's a good idea to take moments to catch ourselves if we are replicating old patterns of reactive negitivity & lurching into automatic ways of disparaging our bodies when we talk about them. We are travelling in these vessels for a while to go yet, so however bumpy & wobbly they are, they are ours, they are all we have and we need to learn to appreciate them and what they do for us. We are all flawed. that is OK.

I've read a few bits about The Bigggest Loser show but I haven't watched it yet. I did watch a few episodes of TBL back when it was on originally and found it quite difficult to watch.

Zebracat · 20/08/2025 16:48

Part of it may be that we thought we were lumpy because we were fat. I kind of thought all thin people looked like models. It’s not true, I had a distorted view . I like my body now though, don’t mind the wrinkles and the lumps and bumps. What I like best is that losing 17 kilos has made it possible for me to walk without a stick and much greater distances . Being thin, fitting into smaller clothes is a bonus, but obesity was literally burying me alive.

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/08/2025 17:08

Yes @Zebracat absolutely its a distorted view.

And somehow I keep thinking if I was "slim" my body would be all toned & amazing, instead of a smaller version of the big me, with more wrinkles. Like I can slim my way into being another person. I'm exactly the same person, just slimmer & people are nicer to me now (anyone noticed that? I've noticed that).
I'm much happier being me since I hit my 50's that I have been in younger decades.

"obesity was literally burying me alive" - this resonnates. Its similar to the Japanese idea of "having fat" not "being fat". The idea that my "self" is/was being buried under excessive fat is interesting. Let Her Out! Set Her Free! She Will Be OK!

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/08/2025 19:06

Hi all, I’ve been a bit absent because work is a swirling storm of chaos and deadlines and to add fun to that fire it’s summer holidays so have an 11 yr old alternating between being a grumpy git and a ball of energy that needs taking places.

On the topic of B-bellies, that was the biggest disappointment of my pregnancy over a decade ago, the fact that it never really rounded out like I wanted and just stayed b shaped. Now I’m thin with more skin that I need…..but…… I look good in clothes! And not being a nudist, I can work with that. I’ve caught myself in the mirror a few times recently and had the very vain thought that I really do look good in my clothes now. It’s still new, I’m not fully accustomed to it but I like it.

I have a big week away with work thing coming up in October and I’m going to treat myself to some really nice tailored trousers and some really nice silky sleek jewel coloured blouses/shirts that complement my warm autumn colouring (thank you Chat GPT for that info) and I actually think I might be able to pull off chic professional rather than fat funny colleague in novelty jersey dresses.

@Reginaphalangeeeee thank you for sharing with us and trusting us to support you. I’m not always good with words or emotions but it feels special to be trusted by other women to provide that support. I’ve had many a dark moment in the past about my weight, some fairly extreme and desperate thoughts, I’m thankful that each time I’ve been able to drag myself out of it and keep on going but it’s not always been easy to do.

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/08/2025 19:56

@InfoSecInTheCityi have a friend who dresses like that. Tailored trousers and amazing silky shirts in jewel tones. She looks amazing & I love her look. Plus the trousers are often tailored but loose if that makes sense. So super comfy as well as looking amazing.

maybe a cool necklace to draw attention to your collar bones frames my the shirt!

you will feel & look amazing I’m sure!
