@Bulldogsummer I had that same NSV a few weeks ago and wanted to cry. I’ve had to sit on the bed in a very undignified way to cut my toenails for a long time and to just bend over and do it felt amazing! NSVs are definitely more important to me than scale ones.

@PositiveAttitude hope you’re all better now, sounds like a horrible virus! Glad DH now on board.

@Rahgh best of luck! I second the above, don’t get obsessed with side effects, go in with a positive mindset. Also my IBS has been hugely positively affected, I’ve had the most calm 2 months ever! The constipation has been a bit mental (7 days!) but preferable to my previous diarrhoea fits.

PearlsPearl · 29/07/2025 13:05

I’m away for my anniversary spa trip. Last night I ate a lot more than I have since I started, but still considerably less than I previously would have. Just waiting for DW to get dressed and then we’re having afternoon tea- I’ll enjoy it, have a smaller portion, and take the rest home for DS.

Just had a stunning facial and feel like a glowy goddess 😁

TidyWasp · 29/07/2025 13:06

Just squeaked under the 20 stone mark today (by 4oz) which means 3 stone gone 🎉

Starting to wonder where it's all going from though, as measurements haven't changed and not a sniff of any of my clothes being even a tiny bit loose. The scales tell me my muscle mass has gone up and fat % down which is all great but I want to see it!!!!

@Iwouldratherbesinging skin tags can be associated with insulin resistance, so reduction highly likely to be MJ linked.

Oh that's so interesting!! I've had a neck covered in skin tags my whole life!

Welcome @Rahgh, sounds like you've done your research! Mainly I'd say keep an open mind, and always be aware of how differently the drug seems to affect people. Nobody's journeys are the same. Also, try not to be too hyper focused on side effects - the more you search for them the more likely you are to find them! Give everything a chance to settle down. Good luck and looking forward to hearing how you get on.

I was going to post something very similar. Prepare for everything but assume nothing @Rahgh !
I had suppression from day one and no side effects and was in awe of this magic drug. Then on about days 4 and 5 I was shitting explosive water every half an hour! Same thing happened in week two but then it's not happened since. You might have side effects on day one, you might get them every day but you might also never get any. Likewise you might lose a stone in your first week or you might lose an ounce. The key is to try not to compare the race you're running to anyone else's.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 29/07/2025 13:58

Tuesday weigh-in for me, another 2 lbs off, I’m still consistently losing 2lbs a week after approximately 49 weeks and bloody hell, the 12 stone bracket is soooooo close!!

@Rahgh I share your 13 stone at 13 comment and I never ever thought I’d see it, yet here I am verging on the 12. Welcome along, and I echo the previous comments, don’t overthink it. People talk about side effects a lot as they do cause problems, but lots of people also don’t get any so there’s nothing to write about, therefore you don’t read lots of posts about the lack of them.
I prepped in advance and didn’t use 60% of the stuff I bought. But yes to the loads of water! My taste buds changed which I wasn’t expecting. Good luck!

lots of good news on here today, yay to the 18s @eibbed999, yay to the seatbelt @MummyInTheNecropolis, yay to the jeans @TheZingyFish, yay to @TidyWasp, that 4oz is very significant and a big yay to the size 16 @TragicMuse.
@Doggymummar im now off to try on my husband’s jeans after reading your post 😂
Agree with you @Bulldogsummer, it feels good to cut and paint toenails without holding your breath or contorting into weird positions.

That's great to hear someone else's success too.
It's a fab feeling isn't it
Just normal everyday self care tasks are so much easier with less weight on

Best advice ever! From @PinkArt

TheZingyFish · 29/07/2025 16:12

I think one of my best NSV is being able to wrap a bath sheet around me without flashing the world! Previously I could get it around above my bust but it would have to flare out so much it covered nothing! Now I’m semi-decent!

This is the sort of thing lighter people with less to lose just wouldn’t comprehend, so welcome to new people joining this thread on their journeys. I felt so apprehensive when I started but this group has been an absolute godsend for me as being a larger lady can be so isolating as very few people can really understand what it is like. I’m still reticent to share that I’m using MJ for fear of judgement and others almost waiting for me to fail again like I have in the past when I’ve tried to lose weight, so having the support in here is an absolute dream!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 29/07/2025 16:21

I used to take a tape measure with me when buying new bath sheets, couldn’t imagine trying to wrap it around me in the middle of Dunelm Mill 😱. I very nearly bought the super sized ones from Snag, they looked luxurious.

shoe or trainer shopping is a breeze now, I don’t have to worry about falling over/balancing, it’s similar to the cutting and painting of toe nails.

PositiveAttitude · 29/07/2025 16:23

Just back from the Drs. BP is "nearly" down to normal. I told him I was taking mounjaro and he was so positive and encouraging about it. He said he wouldn't need to check my BP again unless I wanted him to, because he had faith that I would be losing a load of weight on MJ and the BP would settle fine.
He apologised for not being able to give me a prescription for it. He is a lovely man. I am so lucky after having a few bad GPs in my time.

TragicMuse · 29/07/2025 16:29

He sounds great @PositiveAttitude I love a doctor who is supportive and understands! Mine is pretty good too - during my drug review he asked if it was all going ok and was happy for me to take it. It felt reassuring and helpful.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/07/2025 16:31

How do people tend to manage mini plateaus/bleurgh times when we are all in it for the long haul?

I tend to look at my weight over the last eight weeks. It's always come down, sometimes only 4 - 5lb, but a loss is a loss.

I'm kind of losing 2 - 3lb a month now, so it's verrrry slow. But I have complete faith that I'll get where I want to be.

I would like to regain the gorgeous legs I used to have. Currently, even though I fit into size 12/14 clothes now, my legs are still fat. And they never used to be. So I'm aiming to get another 16/18lb off.

I bought about six dresses on Vinted, and they're all lovely (and none cost more than £5) but my knees and calves are HORRID. So I'm not wearing them.

DH keeps telling me to wear them anyway, but I just don't want to.

I think in the winter, when I can put thick tights on, I'll be happy to wear dresses..................

Hello @Rahgh and welcome!

I think you need to get some loperamide tablets in, for diarrhoea.

Loperamide is the active ingredient in Imodium, which are very expensive.

You can get generic loperamide on Ebay at a fraction of the price.

That's a shame @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I'm trying really hard not to care about the slightly less attractive bits. I went to town to run some errands in June wearing shorts which I would never wear in this country before losing this weight. My everything jiggles but I think that's how its going to be now, after years of living a small life I refuse to do it anymore.

I know what you mean, and I don't seem to care about my arms, for example. Or my tummy, which after four caesarean sections, has an overhang lol.

But I can't bear my fat knees! I wish I didn't care, but I do.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne that's really good advice thank you!!

I seem to have the odd moments of irrational impatience every few weeks where I just wish it was all happening quicker even though I know its happening plenty steady enough in right direction so that's a good reminder looking back even where I was 1 month ago to stay positive and focused thank you!

This is exactly me as well, it was fab to see that 19 again though!

I did realise though that I’m wearing the same clothes as when I last saw 19 st something so it’s unsurprising they aren’t loose yet. I’m hoping the next stone will show a bit more.

Lds1 · 29/07/2025 20:44

Today a lady at work who I don't even know purposely came into the kitchen to tell me I was looking so well! She ran in after me and then left again 😂

Bag packed for festival 2 of the summer, I'm looking forward to a few days off work!

Only after I'd said this yesterday did i look properly & realise some on my neck have gone & others reduced in size, they've been there years too! Clever stuff eh 😉

Thanks everyone for this amazing thread, from a long-time lurker.

Another suggestion for new people: be sure you're getting enough fibre and liquids from the very start, and that may help cut the worst of the gastro SE when you go up doses. Of course have some senna and similar around for emergencies. But most of us aren't getting the 20-30 mg of fibre a day to start with. I thought I was getting plenty of fibre but I wasn't, then when the MJ slowed down my digestion further, it led to ... a very uncomfortable place.

What worked for me was to make overnight oats with raspberries and using an actimel (which helps calm my stomach and guts) and yogurt instead of milk. Raspberries are insane for high fibre, and bags of frozen are fine for overnight oats and much cheaper. Sometimes I put flavoured protein powder in the oats too. This breakfast is enough of a good start with fibre that it's easy to get the remaining recommended amount in over the rest of the day through wholegrain rice or ryvita or similar. And some kiwi can also help.

I also take 1 or 2 psyllium husks capsules a day, and am relentless about drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. It's made such a difference.

Well done re your BP @PositiveAttitude. And so good to have a GP that supports and understands you.
