Argh this week so far I've PUT ON 0.9kg. Not sure what's going on as I really don't think I've been eating more (I don't track very closely as I think I'd go mad). 3.75mg clearly not really working for me - I guess I'll go back to 5mg!

MontysMissus · 30/07/2025 07:56

Just weighed in after a week. Exactly half a stone down.
Obviously, I won't expect that every week, but it's a great start!

Thanks everyone for the messages of support / advice. So many useful nuggets of information. Really appreciate this space!

Oh and if someone asks (rare as chums know I will not be impressed by comments on my body) I say moving more and eating less. They don't need to know WLI are helping me to move more and eat less.

GnomeDePlume · 30/07/2025 10:26

The thing to remember is that it is your journey. The NSVs are a personal joy and unique to each individual. Being able to do something for the first time or for the first time in a long time.

For me, being able to put socks on was huge. I couldn't bend enough without it being incredibly painful. I was embarrassed to admit this even to DH. I was worried this would become a slippery slope ending up with me being stuck in my bed having to be cared for.

This is not something a smaller person would even recognise.

What I am looking forwards to is being normal. Not always being the fattest person in the room. Not always worrying if a seat is wide enough or strong enough. Not worrying about being able to buy clothes in a hurry.

PearlsPearl · 30/07/2025 12:25

Yes I can relate to the socks! I can now put them on standing up which I LOVE every single morning. I practised and practised in my PT sessions last year and verrrry slowwwwly made progress. I also brush my teeth on one leg now from those sessions, I can do it for the full 2 minutes now.

In September when I first started those PT sessions I never dreamed I'd be able to do it, consistently, and easily.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/07/2025 13:24

Two years ago I found myself unable to put a pair of tights on. It was a special lunch, and I had a dress to wear for once. But I had to get DH to put the tights on me.

Two weeks ago, I easily put a pair of tights on. Yay me!

It's time to come out of hiding on this thread and leave the monthly threads. I've been reading this one since January! You are great and so many NSV's that others wouldn't recognise.
I started in January and am 2.5 stone down, so a slow loss (but hey still a loser!). I'm still 21st 10lb and a size 22/24 (I'm super tall!)
I am just back from Rome, where my DD wanted to climb the dome of St Peters Basilica. That's 320 steps. I have been panicking for weeks and practising going up and stairs at home . It's been my main exercise🤣).My NSV is that I did it, with just two very brief stops. I was so happy when I got to the top that I nearly cried!
Rome is a city for walking and with nearly 20k steps each day, I'm hoping I offset the carbs eaten.(Won't know for a few days while carb/flight water weight goes down!)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/07/2025 13:35

Hello @Lovetoridemybicycle well done on the steps! That's amazing.

Holding my breath while tying shoe laces or putting on sandals was definitely one of my what the fuck am I doing to myself moments.

@Lovetoridemybicycle thats an amazing achievement! Well done.

Lds1 · 30/07/2025 17:39

Weighed in a day early as going away, lost 0.9kg (1 lb and 15.75 oz).

SW 142.8 (22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz)
CW 86.6 (13 stone, 8 lb and 14.73 oz)
Total loss 56.2 (8 stone, 11 lb and 14.4 oz)
BMI 50.8 now 30.8

2.5kg (5 lb and 8.18 oz) until overweight! Also close to the 9 stone loss.

Not expecting to lose anything in the next week as I won't have as much access to healthy food and water.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/07/2025 18:16

Oh @Lds1 you've done so well!

@Lovetoridemybicycle hello and congratulations! That's such a lovely win to read!

@Lds1 absolutely incredible, well done you!

Lds1 · 30/07/2025 20:48

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne @TidyWasp thank you, it's definitely a slog at times but it is still going in the right direction.

I don't mind people saying I've lost weight I just say thanks and it moves on without too much question, what still gets me is the 'you look well' we all know they mean thinner!

Yes, exactly.

And maybe I can reiterate here, that nobody really noticed my weightloss until I'd lost 5 - 6st. So I had to get down to a good 15st before it was getting obvious.

I've nearly lost 8st now. Lots of people remark on it these days.

Also, I didn't actually need new clothes until I'd lost about 4st!

So don't lose hope, everyone. I've been losing weight for 19 months. This is a long-haul process.

Just love this! I’m an avid reader and occasional poster on this thread, just wonderful reading everyone’s successes and knowing we’re all in for the long haul together.

We go to Rome in a month’s time and I’m nervous about the flight (usual fitting in seat/seatbelt worries especially on Ryanair) and about managing when I’m there. I know at 20st it’s going to be much easier than the 24 and a half I was back in March. Feeling optimistic thanks to your post now 😊.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 30/07/2025 22:03

@Onenotsosmallstep
You will have a blast. There are a lot of steps all over the place! But am amazing city, so glad we went

Bibulous · 30/07/2025 22:16

Checking in and I've lost just over nine stone! I can properly cross my legs for the first time in a very long time and I can see the tendons and veins in the backs of my hands rather than them just being doughy lumps. I know that's silly but it's something that's bothered me and it really makes me happy to see my hands look like most people's hands. I need to get some of my rings resized but I'm putting it off until I get closer to my target weight.

@PositiveAttitude well done on the reduction of your blood pressure! It's a really good thing for your health.

As predicted, my mum went totally overboard about my weight loss.

It’s been quite a hard day.

Why she needed to tell her friends is beyond me. We arrived late last night. It got mentioned this morning. And in the gap between 10am and 1pm ish she’s already been in touch with friends to tell them basically ‘hurray, my daughter is less fat’

I don’t know who she’s told because she is being evasive. So now I have had to be very firm that she is not to tell anyone else. At all. It’s my information, my personal medical information, not for public consumption unless I choose.

But THIS is why I didn’t say. And I wish I hadn’t now. Because it’s become a thing.

‘So wonderful’

Why is my being thinner classed as ‘wonderful’? I’m still the same person.

And all it’s done is make me feel unloved and unworthy and inadequate. And like being fat makes me unlovable when being less fat is so fucking ‘wonderful’.

I love my mum but the combo of her and my weight is a bad one. And after working so hard for years on my body not being up for discussion, one hint and she just couldn’t stop and think ‘is this ok to do? Is that what she would find reasonable or acceptable?’

I feel really sad. And guilty because I am cross with her.

Bulldogsummer · 31/07/2025 01:54

Omg
I think my journey on monjroro has come to an end
I still have at least another 4 stone to go.
I had my gallbladder out many years ago,and I'm feeling the same tightness in the area
I believe you can still get pancreatitis without a gallbladder.
I can't risk the pain of pancreatitis again ,I was hospitalised numerous times in agony.
So I've decided I'm not jabbing any more .
Am I ok to stay on this thread and keep chatting about how I go on ??

GnomeDePlume · 31/07/2025 06:18

@Bulldogsummer I am sorry you are in pain. I hope you can get it sorted quickly.

GnomeDePlume · 31/07/2025 07:18

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 107.2kg BMI 41.9
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

I'm in the 16s! 16 stone 12.5 pounds. I have lost 4 stone 10 pounds. Only another 6 stone 13 pounds to go. I have lost 21.75% of my starting weight which doesnt sound so much.

But this is quite the easiest diet I have ever done. I have lost more weight than I have doing either WeightWatchers or Slimming World. I lost more weight more quickly doing Lighter Life but that just left me miserable with every meal time a reminder of what I couldnt have.

This is the most healthily I have ever eaten. A lot more vegetables and an awful lot less processed carb. Most importantly, it is no effort.

yes you look well is a polite way of saying you’ve lost weight 😂

@TragicMuse I get it. It's all so complicated but actually not because it's your mum and she should just think that you are fabulous whatever your size. And then when she makes such a fuss, you just think, what did you think of me before. Or at least that's how it was with my mum and I.

I had a work colleague really clumsily comment on my weight loss. She was so out of line I was speechless (and that says a lot!). Her words were "you are actually looking good". It was during a face to face team away day. I just gawped at her and she walked away.

But then to balance it out, a lovely friend persuaded me to try on a dress that I loved in a shop which I ended up buying. And all she said was that I needed to look at a smaller size because I had obviously lost weight. And when I tried the dress on said that I looked gorgeous.

Been a tough week the kids are off school which has completely thrown my normal routine out, we've had a few parties and family gatherings where I haven't been able to control food. We have very little money at the moment so can't afford many days out so the kids are struggling to entertain themselves.
