I’m on that but with co codemal

WafflingDreamer · 25/07/2025 20:56

How typical I had been looking at monj and decided to switch provider this month as I could get it £20 cheaper. I look it up again this morning and lots of suppliers had gone out of stock so with postage it only worked out as a £10 difference. I decided in the end not to bother as my provider is fast and having to submit photos of the box, selfies and ID in my experience slows it all down. My usual provider only bloody asked for a selfie with me holding up a sign with the order number so couldn't even use the photo I took last night. Definitely switching next month.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2025 21:01

They are getting much more stricter now

Is worth looking on monj at whether your provider do a price match. I’m with Simple Online Pharmacy and got a price match this month, so no need to swap providers as they are reliable and am already signed up. Am hoping I can do the same again with my next order as well.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/07/2025 22:38

I changed supplier a couple of weeks ago to Swift Doctor, submitted photos and ID and I was literally approved the following day. Was no hassle at all. I’m fed up chasing the discounts now so looked on monj at the cheaper suppliers rather than the discount list. I believe they price match as well

Evening everyone. I'm behind on this thread so apologies for not recognising everyone's achievements but I'm having a mini crisis.

On an impulse this morning I made an online enquiry at a local gym that does small group personal training sessions for over 40s. I got a phone call about 5 minutes later from them and we had a very honest conversation about why I'm interested in training and what my goals are. They sounded really accommodating and understanding, and before I knew it I had agreed to join and paid for 12 sessions! I'm not having regrets per se, more like 'OMG, what have I done...' accompanied by mild panic.

But my thoughts now are, what the heck am I going to wear? I certainly don't have any gym clothes but I don't even have leggings. I don't have a sports bra and I don't have any suitable trainers, just my scruffy Skechers for dog walking.

Where can I buy gym clothes in size 22 top and 24/26 bottom? I need them by Thursday. I'm thinking some cropped leggings, a sports bra and t-shirt or vest top (I know I'll overheat within 5 minutes of being there).

For those of you that go to the gym or have a trainer, what sorts of things did they have you doing at first? I told him that I'm not able to get up and down off the floor (too fat) so press ups and burpees are out unless they modify them.

I'm trying not to panic or get overwhelmed but I made a rash decision and need a bit of reassurance please.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/07/2025 23:07

@AlicesMum2025 sainsburys and Matalan sell reasonably priced gym wear, Matalan comes up large so you’ll definitely get away with a 22 bottom in there, they have sports bras as well. But for slightly better gym wear go to trusty M&S, especially for a good supportive bra. But well done, I’m in awe of you, I wouldn’t have the courage!

Disclaimer I avoid sport at all costs so am no guru but based on the last time I tried not to hate running...
Prioritise the sports bra. Once they're locked down everything else will be easier! Get one with proper bra fastenings so you don't have the horror of feeling like you might the trapped in it forever. I paired that with some fetching cropped trackie bums from Primark, because I figured they might show less wobble than leggings, and various old vests.
I have no suggestions at all about where to shop though as I'm still studiously making excuses not to start exercising yet. I did have a pulmonary embolism in April, so can keep using that as a reason for a bit longer 😬

MontysMissus · 26/07/2025 04:14

Just a quick question. Does anyone feel like you want to eat something but when you actually think about the thing you're planning to eat, you don't fancy it any more?
This is what I'm experiencing right now, and I don't know if it's just in my head, as I'm only on Day 3.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 26/07/2025 07:26

Morning all, checking in post holiday. I found it really hard as I couldn’t control what I was eating and had things I didn’t want or enjoy as no other options… had convinced myself I would have put on about half a stone and got really down about it. And in fact I am a lb down!

I am therefore 11 weeks in and 2 stone lighter! I feel I need a bit of a reset though, my gastric symptoms are still pervading despite having gone back to 2.5mg. I’d love a week with no constipation, diarrhoea or stomach ache. This is about the time I’d abandon a weight loss attempt so need to power through.

None of my clothes fit any better, I bought a couple of vinted items a size down and feel about 2 sizes too big for them, surely what the scales are showing must show soon!? I also had 2 full on periods 2 weeks apart this month with only 10 days respite.

Ugh, feel a bit down about it all but time to pick up and go again!

katscamel · 26/07/2025 08:59

@AlicesMum2025 Primark are pretty good for leggings as are ASDA. As you'd imagine they're cheap and cheerful so fine when just starting. Both are pretty good for Tshirts as well as are Yours. I tend to try and get longer ones. A sports bra is essential, I spend ££££ on mine and get them from Elomi and though I recommend them you don't want to be spending too much until you know you're going to keep going, it's the same with trainers. Have a fab time at the gym it may sometimes feel like a form of torture but keep at it.

PearlsPearl · 26/07/2025 09:48

@AlicesMum2025 well done for taking the leap! I did the same last summer and I'm so glad I did, at nearly 40 I'd never stepped foot in a gym and was sick with nerves but it's the best thing I've done. Now nearly a year later I'm a member at my local gym and I go regularly, I still don't enjoy it but I do enjoy the yay-me feeling afterwards.

M&S for a decent bra. I get all my gym stuff there too but supermarkets have them too. I just wear a very big t-shirt on top of gym leggings. And your Skechers will be fine.

Don't do anything you don't want to do, don't compare yourself to anyone, keep telling yourself you're on your own journey and it's not a race. I am proud of you!

This is what I'm experiencing right now, and I don't know if it's just in my head, as I'm only on Day 3.

Everyday! I cooked steak and chips last night and had one bite and that was it. It happens nearly every day. I've not bought a food shop for me for six weeks now ( we have two freezers don't worry I'm not starving) I eat really unhealthy but I just need to get some calories in. I have a lot of marks and Spencer tinned soup and those merchant gourmet microwave bags of lentils, rice etc with a bit of soy sauce.

PearlsPearl · 26/07/2025 09:50

I'm away twice next week and have 2 fancy 3 course meals booked in, plus an afternoon tea, all based around our anniversary week (10 years wooohoo!). All booked pre-mj of course, when our main source of fun was good eating.

Now I feel rubbish about it. I'm not able to eat much in one go at all. 3 courses will never happen, I'll pick at a starter and main and not get a dessert. So much money, so little enjoyment now. I'll try and focus on DW (who is a very healthy weight) and her enjoyment instead and not feel sorry for myself, but it'll be hard.

I did consider not taking my jab on Sunday so I could eat more next week? But that's silly and old thinking. I don't need to eat more, I need to stay focused and remember there's more to life than food. I think.

I did run one of week 2 of None 2 Run this morning (back on the walking treadmill). Bloody good thing I didn’t go outside because I’d decided to wear an old pair of shorts, knowing they were now too big. No joke - when I was jogging they fell down. I was lucky I was able to stop the treadmill and not break my neck. It was like something from Mr Bean.

Does that count as an NSV?

Isn't it an eye opener @PearlsPearl, realising how much of our lives/socialising revolved around food? Must be the same for alcoholics who have given up drinking, so hard being surrounded by others who are enjoying in moderation. Well done for keeping a positive attitude about it, and if you over indulge, so what? It's a very special occasion so don't be too hard on yourself! Congrats on the anniversary.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/07/2025 12:12

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 I found I didn't really need smaller clothes till I'd lost 4st.

I mean, the ones I had were looser, but they still fit me.

It wasn't till I got down to about 15st that I started to need smaller sizes.

OP posts:
Iwouldratherbesinging · 26/07/2025 12:16

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 it was about 3.5 to 4 stone for me before I noticed a real change in clothing sizes, hang on in there!

@PearlsPearl happy 10 year anniversary 🥂 If I know I’m going out for a meal I won’t eat anything beforehand to make sure I’m hungry and you can both romantically share a dessert.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 26/07/2025 12:23

@PearlsPearl oh boy 10 years!
It's lovely to hear about happy marriages.

Out at a wedding reception this evening, really looking forward to it but trying to eat before I go so I dont give in to grazing on lots of beige.

I'm trying to be quite strict with my eating to start with as I was terrible for mindless eating and sugar! I'm worried that itll be easy to slip into that even if my appetite is less. Not had a pudding or chocolate in the 2 weeks since I've started MJ and I honestly cant remember if I've ever done that before!

Elephantscantjump · 26/07/2025 14:18

@PearlsPearl congratulations on 10 years! Thats really lovely

PearlsPearl · 26/07/2025 15:49

Thanks for the congrats 😍 we really have had a very happy 10 years together, despite life and its challenges. It's actually our 11 year anniversary, as we got married 1 year exactly after we got together.... we were bonkers to do so in hindsight, but a risk well worth taking in our case.

(We were friends for 10 years before we got together however, so we already knew each other quite well)

Pickledpoppetpickle · 26/07/2025 16:30

Hello. About to start mounjaro. At least 10 stobe to lose (weighing in just over 21 stone, would be happy around 10 - 11 stone). Type 2 diabetic I used to control with diet but the raging thirst is telling me my next blood test will see me on medication. Size 30 - 32, mainly carrying the weight round my middle. Wearing baggy clothes - suspect I could get away with 26 - 28 most of the time. I like being middle-aged and invisible- this will be my greatest impediment to losing weight - I just like being left alone. Acrimonious divorce some 15 years ago has left me entirely self dependent but children now grown up and I'm lonely (making me cry to admit that). I need to change.

Lds1 · 26/07/2025 16:37

I did my 1 year photos of doom, everything has kind of migrated south 😂 good job clothes can make it look better!

You can definitely tell I still have a long way to go!
