@WafflingDreamer we’re weight loss twins! I hit 6 stone this week too, doesn’t it feel good!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne we are a similar height and my ideal weight is between 7st 7lb and 10.1lb, I was probably around 8 years old when I last saw 7 stone something and that weight really doesn’t feel that it would be healthy. I’d like to be 10st 7 but am wondering if that’s a bit ambitious… it’s definitely crazy that you are still ‘obese’ as you clearly aren’t

@Elle771 it was around 3.5 to 4 stone when my dress size changed, and then you’ll find your size will keep dropping and you’ll be poor as you constantly need new clothes!

Genuinely its really weird. Its only the last few weeks where I feel like my legs aren't as ginormous as they've always been. I guess because its been gradual I don't really notice, I've also only dropped one dress size although I haven't actually tried on anything smaller I just tend to wait till my clothes are falling down which possibly isn't the best idea 🙃

I find it weird when people haven't seen me for a long time and are super over the top about it. I had someone follow me around at work gushing about how amazing I look. I definitely have more energy and I generally look forward to getting up at 6am and doing a workout!

Elle771 · 24/07/2025 20:24

@iwouldratherbesinging I'm soooo looking forward to some new clothes altho hopefully won't need to buy tons as have kept all my size 16-18 in vacuum bags in loft where they can't torture me 😅

Ive also found EIGHT brand new pairs of size 20 trousers/jeans with labels still on that i bought in sales last year when I clearly refused to accept i was too big to fit a size 20 🙈🙈 they are all now within reach within the next month or two hopefully if I carry on with the 2lb a week plod!

(Edited to say size 20 not size 10!! That would be a bloody miracle after 10wks!!!)

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 24/07/2025 20:49

@JustAnotherSod thanks for that, I’ve checked and the pen looks like it should after one dose so all good.

Don't forget that a lot of people don't get much suppression on 2.5mg MJ.

Thank you everyone for your incredibly warm welcome yesterday.
Day 2 of being on The Jab and was slightly disappointed not to wake up skinny this morning!🤣🤣🤣.
Not noticing any immediate changes to appetite but no adverse side effects as yet, either. Got 4 night shifts to negotiate from tonight, so have armed myself with small portions of healthy snacks to counteract the mid shift energy slumps. Fingers crossed.
Had a routine chat with my GP today, and he was really pleased I've taken this route. In fact, he's written to the powers that be to try and push for me to get this on the NHS. No guarantee, but it's great to be supported.
I have a few underlying health conditions, including atrial fibrillation and am seeing a cardiologist for this. He also is pushing for the same outcome.
Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better, and very grateful for the support.

GnomeDePlume · 24/07/2025 21:11

One problem I am experiencing is that I have got out of the habit of wearing clothes which fit. My old, pre mounjaro, clothes are comfortable and familiar.

Making the top yesterday was a step forward. I made something according to my measurements rather than using an old pattern.

Today I did the cutting out for a pair of jeans. This is a bit of a future project as they probably won't fit straight away.

By the way, look at a pair of jeans and count the number of pieces of fabric. It's terrifying! From memory there are 15 pieces. By comparison, the top I made yesterday had 3 pieces.

afaloren · 25/07/2025 07:03

3.5lb off this week! Delighted with that as I basically stayed the same last week and was in a panic it had stopped working.

I’ve hit a mini-milestone today: fewer than 100lb to go! That feels good. And very close to three more mini-milestones. I won’t hit all of them next week even if I have a good loss but they are within sight. Hurrah.

I now feel vindicated for staying strong last night at the cinema when DH had popcorn with chocolate buttons mixed in Halo

eibbed999 · 25/07/2025 08:14

Was out with a friend the other night, a very slender friend who always looks amazing, and another who we hadn't seen for ages who has been on MJ for around 18 months but always kept it a secret from most people (I knew but the other pal didn't.) She was really worried about 'confessing', but hilariously once she did, our friend then told us all about her Botox and facial fillers! We're all just doing our best aren't we? Being thin doesn't automatically make you happy.

Anyway, her son is a very tall, fit and athletic man, lean and healthy, but he also comes up as overweight on BMI. He's studying something relevant, I think maybe sport science, and says that everyone accepts that BMI is nonsense but there just isn't another tool that can be used so simply. He said the taller you are, the more skewed the results.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/07/2025 08:22

Happy one year anniversary {mention:Lds1}@Lds1 🎉🎉🎉 and wow what a loss you've had over the year. To be 13s at the end and sooo close to overweight is fantastic. I've just passed 6months and it's incredibly to think I could be where you are in another 6.

What a year!! Have you been looking back at all? And differences between how you felt/looked a year ago and now? What's life like now?

@Iwouldratherbesinging oh gosh you cracked ribs 😳. That must have been horrible and frightening. I had been terrified of doing similar. It was only the other night I realised that I wasn't worried anymore!

Congratulations to the 6stone weight loss twins. Wow 6stone!!

@GnomeDePlume wow Jeans. You can make anything - that is such a talent.

I jabbed this morning. V slight increase but just so it shows 17stone rather than 16.9999999.

My weight loss is slowing a bit but still seems to be averaging out at a reasonable amount - just not the kg a week it was. I'm on 7.5 a week currently so I guess I need to decide whether to wait until it properly stalls to go up or preempt it.

I'm a couple of weeks into a fitness programme I've joined and I'm really loving it (!!). I'm getting back to walking too. Not as much as I was as I'm finding it harder to get the time away from the kids but hoping them being on school holidays will make that easier. I went for 30mins last night but that still boosts my steps out of sedentary!

SilenceInside · 25/07/2025 08:28

BMI is just a ratio, weight divided by height squared. It’s not nonsense, it’s just a straightforward bit of maths that generally describes the relationship between weight and height. It is pretty accurate at representing “adiposity” or fatness, but it doesn’t attempt to factor in body composition so there will be some outliers where it isn’t as relevant. I think it’s something like in 97% of people, BMI was an accurate representation of their “fatness” when measured with processes like DEXA body composition scans. I’ll try and find a reference for that.

flipent · 25/07/2025 08:48

My first weigh in since starting.

W2 D1
SW: 283lb
CW: 272lb
GW: 140lb

Great first week for me.

Had a bit of trouble priming the jab this morning - maybe shouldn't have done it as soon as I'd woken up! Had to change the needle and go again, but all learning at this point.
Was really excited to job this morning after the suppression was noticeably waning the last couple of days.

Very long way to go - but feeling very positive.

Weightlossprincess · 25/07/2025 09:15

Not logged in here for a while due to lots going on in life, but just wanted to share a huge milestone.
Started 11 weeks ago, wqs 21 stone 3 pounds
Just weighed in a s for the first time in i dont know how long.......im officially in the teens, and less than 20 stone!. Only just, im 19 stone 13.6 pounds....but still!
Im not a fast loser, only 17 pounds un 11 weeks, but this feels like a huge step x

I was speed reading and read this as ‘I’ve just completed the Great North run!’ 🤣
I’m still determined to try this or couch 25k, this weeks excuse is it’s raining… 😳

Hahahaha - I can’t imagine how long it would take to do the Great North Run in very slow 30 second increments 🤣

Despite my worry earlier in the week over scales not budging (and briefly going in the wrong direction!) I’m ending the week 1.2kg down.

Today will be Jab 10 - I reduced down to 3.75mg last week and have had no trouble with side effects so going to do the same again today.

CW: 120.8kg
total loss: 14kg

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I haven't really looked back yet for comparison, mostly because I don't have old photos to compare to. I'm going to take a photo of doom tomorrow morning and compare it to the first ones. It's weird last time I took them I still don't see a massive difference especially in my legs. Obviously there is a difference it's just I'm probably blind to it.

Life generally hasn't changed too much. Except making better food choices, usually celebrate success with a cake, but last night I just ate the usual foods, no treats! I've also been to a festival this year and going to another one soon too so there's progress in feeling more up to doing big events again. Also it's great having more choice of clothes but I thought I'd be a smaller trouser size by now hopefully legs will get the memo soon. It's also nice to know if there's a chair I can probably sit on it without an issue.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2025 11:13

Don’t hate me. I’m trying to maintain after 6.5s loss but still losing even tho eating 600c more a day

now nearly 7s

i know im not officially on your thread but joined it when someone asked for the list of weights and like to support you all

tech i could lose almost 10s and be at the very lowest end of my bmi but would look very gaunt and prob ill at 8s

which is why bmi can’t always be right

esp for you @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne

Fffreeeeezing · 25/07/2025 12:18

Week 19 WI and for the second week in a row, 4lb off.

That marks a few milestones, over the 4st loss (4st 3lb total) and 49.9 BMI from a starting BMI of 59.7, in the 40’s - woo!
Was also thinking I was in the next ‘100 stone bracket’ but as I’m bang on 300 that’ll be next week!

NSV’s this week, bought a pair of size 20 jeans and they fit. They are stretchy though but still. My trousers are all either a 22 or 24 and they’re all getting a bit baggy now and won’t be long til they are unwearable.

Sadly the lighter I get, the worse my knee injury gets and I’m in sooooo much pain now, seems it was just wishful thinking it would get better as I got lighter, typical!

WafflingDreamer · 25/07/2025 13:05

Anyone beginning to struggle with lose skin? My arms are dreadful, I've been doing weights workouts 5 times a week, mix of arms legs and core since Feb but it doesn't seem to be making much difference. I have massive thighs Ive lost 9cms off each since Feb when I started measuring regularly and there is already the start of skin hanging down in the middle, like a deflated balloon. I'd ideally like to lose another 3/4 stone - 4 stone more would get me to a BMI 24.1

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2025 13:24

@Fffreeeeezing are you on any medication /naproxen etc for knee injury

I found pain eased a bit on mj and now lowering doses to come off it the pain is coming back

@WafflingDreamer yes my bingo wings are awful and if I could afford an arm tuck I would do it

top of legs needing pulling up

I fact maybe I should just start at boobs and pull upwards and have a full body lift

SilenceInside · 25/07/2025 13:29

@Fffreeeeezingcongratulations on hitting all those milestones, amazing progress.

@WafflingDreameri have crepey skin on my upper inner thighs that is starting to hang. I’m hoping that with time it will improve. My upper arm “wings” are a delightful mix of stretch marked and crepey, but they’ve like that for a long time so that’s not a change. My stomach…. Well I’m getting a waist that goes in, but underneath that the apron-y belly is a shrivelled disaster zone. I think that will take a long time before it looks any better. But with clothes on I am pleased with my overall shape at the moment.

I’ve been on Naproxen for a few months now but it’s making zero difference 😔. The Dr offered codeine but that causes constipation and I’m already battling that with the MJ!
I’m on waiting list to get on a waiting list to see the knee specialist so I have caved and booked an appointment at the private hospital, maybe they will give me stronger painkillers 🤞

That’s a shame as I found it really helped

what dose are you on ?

500mg twice a day, plus paracetamol. NHS physio thinks I’ve torn my meniscus but until I get an MRI who knows!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/07/2025 14:23

Wow, you're all doing so well and hitting loads of exciting milestones!

I'm having trouble getting back into the zone, after my holiday. I've decided to do OMAD for a week, to reset.

Am aiming to get to just under 11 stone. That will do fine for me, and I'll start maintenance then.

I have a feeling it'll happen round about Christmas - so just in time for boxes of chocolates and Christmas pudding 🤣🤣

@WafflingDreamer, yes to the loose skin, upper arms and thighs (and you can see it above my knees). I started with resistance bands last week, just following the instructions that came in the box and some random Thai chi videos that look interesting. I also religiously use Nivea q10 firming morning and evening. I think I have accepted that it isn’t going anywhere, there is no amount of muscle that will fill the amount of excess skin I have.
I’ve attached a photo of arms and thighs, I’m hoping it may settle in time and catch up with me. I wonder what it’ll look like after another 4 stone loss 😱 I’ve marked it as sensitive just in case anyone’s having lunch!

Re - joint pain. I never found that mine improved, the last time I lost loads of weight (20 years ago).

Now that I'm 69, I have osteoarthritis. I take a mixture of codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen. I was given naproxen years ago and that seemed to trigger my asthma. I might try it again, just to see if it helps.

Applying Diclofenac Emulgel 2.32% at night also helps all my joint pains.

Argh I'm so sick of getting old!
