But she enjoys them!
I still eat Jaffa cakes and ice cream tubs sometimes. I love them and I'm not giving up everything.

I don't think anyone should give up everything at all! Doesn't work if you do. Was only saying that as a meal replacement it's missing a lot of the things you need. Nothing wrong with treats - was honestly only thinking about the balance. It wasn't supposed to be a criticism.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/07/2025 12:20

Re - my scales.

Yes, they're accurate. I weighed myself on my son's scales when I was away and they showed me roughly the same as my own.

Having gained 3lb while away gives my a BMI of 31.8. So it is almost 32.

However, I don't look different, and my clothes still fit.
🤣

Oh and talking of BMI - my alleged lowest healthy weight is 7st 4lb!!

That's ridiculous, and it's actually 5st less than my current weight.

I don't understand it. This is me today, at a BMI of 31.8. Although I'm clearly not skinny, I'm not obese. Yet I am OBESE and not OVERWEIGHT according to the BMI scale.

You literally look perfect! Not underweight or overweight. I don't get it at all. Are you super muscular? Secret weight implants????

You look fab 😁. Surely at correct bmi you'd actually look underweight?

I know I'm probably slightly distorted in my thinking but I can't see how anyone could think you look overweight never mind obese!! (hoping I look as good when I get to your bmi!!)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/07/2025 12:39

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

No, I'm not super muscular at all.

I'm 69 and haven't done any exercise for years. Really unfit. Also, I have arthritis so I find walking painful.

But since losing 7st 11lb I'm walking a lot more and much faster, and DD2 and I go swimming every week now.

But golly no. I'm not fit or muscular.

I think if I was 7st 4lb I'd look dreadful. I'd look ill, I'm sure.

I was originally aiming for the very top end of healthy BMI which is 10st 4lb, and that means I should lose another 2st.

However, I think I'll stop when I get to 11st or thereabouts. I don't want to look awful and actually, I'm happy with how I look now.

That's amazing, j would love to make something. Maybe when I'm on garden leave. Can I ask about water? I've been dieting for about 20 years or more and I always thought when people say drink water they actually meant liquid.

But I saw post yesterday where someone was saying they needed to drink more water as they were relying on protein drinks and coffee. I don't drink much water, I have 36 ozs of coffee which is about 3 pints and maybeb2 pints of water throughout the day. Should I be drinking 3 litres of water on top of other fluid? And why? What's the purpose?

When I was seeing a dietician years back they said it's (non booze!) liquid that counts, not just water, although water is best as you're not also taking in calories, sugar, sweeteners etc. She said coffee counts as the diuretic aspect is negligible compare to the amount of liquid you're taking in. So coffee, soup, squash etc all counts towards your daily liquid target.

Oh good.

I always knew that drinking 12 cups of tea a day was doing me good.

Love how active this thread is!

10 weeks in now and 1st 10lbs off... Can't quite believe it to be honest but slow and steady is still working!

Not quite changed clothes sizes yet but things fit more comfortably and just generally feel less swollen!

Really looking forward to getting into next stone down bracket hopefully in the next month 🙏🙏🙏

Yay! Well done.

I found that clothes sizes didn't change much till I'd lost about 4st.

(Broon I wasnt trying to say anything about where you want to end up BTW - that's obviously compeltly up to you! I was just in awe of the bmi as you look fab ❤️)

Lds1 · 24/07/2025 12:51

Bit late with my update today, todays weigh in is the 1 year mark 🎉🎉!!

This week I have lost 0.6kg (1 lb and 5.16 oz) so not ideal but better than nothing, it's really slowed down now and I still have over 4 stone to go. Also haven't gone down in dress sizes for months. Maybe I'm just where I am supposed to be? I do have really want to get to overweight though 3.5kg (7 lb and 11.46 oz ) from that still.

SW 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz
Cw 87.5kg / 13 stone, 10 lb and 14.47 oz
Total loss 55.3kg / 8 stone, 9 lb and 14.65 oz
To go: 27.5kg / 4 stone, 4 lb and 10.03 oz
BMI: 50.8 now 31.1

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/07/2025 12:54

And yes 4stone here before I noticed any difference in clothes size. I suspect my clothes looked better after I lost a couple of stone but it's 4stone before I wanted to change leggings /pants and I still wear some of my tunics/dresses.,

Its funny isn't it - those with less to lose can lose 4stone and go from say size 16 to size 10 or soemthing can't they and we do all that work for months on end and it can feel we don't get the results in the same way. But it's happening and making a difference and just shows how much harder we're working (both physically and getting our heads round it mentally). Go us ❤️.

I came on partly as I'd been to an outpatients appointment. I last went to the hospital when mum was there last summer. The difference in me is huge!i chose to walk down the stairs in the multistory rather than the lift. I could confidently walk all the way across to the hospital rather than looking for benches. And feel good. My lack of mobility affected everything. This freedom is worth so much aside from the weightloss.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/07/2025 12:54

Have just asked DH for his opinion re - my continued weightloss.

He said that my aiming for 11st seemed exactly right, because I'd be a little bit trimmer, but that if I wanted to stop now (at 12st 5lb) that would also be fine, because I look very good at this weight.

He loved me when my BMI was over 50 so I trust his judgement. He has never once said anything bad about my weight when I was seriously overweight. So if I'm happy now, he's happy. But he was horrified at the thought of my losing another 5st. And he thinks the BMI scale is nonsense.

He's a healthy weight BTW and always has been.

I’m wondering if I’ve injected the right dose ! When I looked at the pen barely any liquid had gone. It was my first dose but still. Also don’t feel any different at all no suppression no side effects. I took the jab Tuesday morning.

JustAnotherSod · 24/07/2025 14:04

Illjusthavethebreadsticks Have a look at the picture to show what your pen will look like after each dose - it doesn't seem to empty as quickly as you'd expect.

If you just had your first dose try not to expect big changes immediately - whilst that happens for some, for others it will be some weeks in or doses up before a full effects are felt.

Good luck!

JustAnotherSod · 24/07/2025 14:17

This time with the picture!

I don’t drink any water, really not keen on the stuff at all. I drink sugar free squash (I don’t give a toss about sweeteners), always the same kind, Sainsburys apple and blackcurrant. I drink 4 litres + most days and have to make a conscious effort to not drink more. Apart from the squash, I have one cup of tea and that’s it for the most part.
Drs usually say clear fluids, that doesn’t have to be water

Thank you. I think it's the Oushkers, they really are evangelicak!

The thinner end of obese looks sooo far from the public perception of obese. I think a lot of people expect it to look like a lot of us probably did at the start of this, whereas it can look surprisingly 'normal'.
On my weight gain journey I was around 30 BMI at a friend's wedding. I remember feeling huge because I was gaining quickly without really knowing why, but looking back I have a cracking jawline and in no way stand out in photos as someone who's weight could be affecting her health.
Likewise I remember a colleague back in the 00s being told by her doctor that she was obese and I was as shocked a she was when she told me. She was a very normal looking, probably size 14 at most woman.

Elle771 · 24/07/2025 18:01

Totally agree with all the BMI being a bit of bollocks when you get to the lower ends...

In my 20s I was low 10st which is top end of "healthy" BMI for my height and i looked HAGGARD people even commented on it and I was buying teen clothes... looked 20yrs older than I was at the time... God knows what I would have looked like if I was mid or low "healthy" range 😬😬

So I do think it really needs taking with a pinch of salt...

Great news @getthingsdone - you must feel so relieved.

I guess a sort of NSV for me - I’ve just completed the third run (and so the first week) of the None 2 Run programme. I did the first two runs at home on my walking treadmill but today I thought “fuck it” and I went for a run outside. And you know what? It was absolutely fine. Not sure I’d exactly describe it as fun but it certainly wasn’t horrible 😂

Needed a boost because the daily weigh ins this week have shown bugger all progress sadly. Trying to trust the process!

I was speed reading and read this as ‘I’ve just completed the Great North run!’ 🤣
I’m still determined to try this or couch 25k, this weeks excuse is it’s raining… 😳

Iwouldratherbesinging · 24/07/2025 19:10

@TheBeesTrees I used to drink so much Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke it was embarrassing, as soon as I started on mounjaro I went right off of it, I know drink loads of sparkling water, about 3 litres a day, but I usually flavour it with sugar free Ribena or another favourite is French vanilla sugar free syrup, tastes just like cream soda.

I slipped stepping out of the shower once @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden and fell onto the loo, cracked two ribs and was in agony for ages, I was around 20 stone then. It wasn’t pretty! I had also promised myself when I lost weight I’d go and get my hair done as the thought of staring at myself put me off (I’m not very good at small talk either), I still haven’t plucked up the courage! Congrats on the 16s 🎉🎉🎉

Iwouldratherbesinging · 24/07/2025 19:33

@WafflingDreamer we’re weight loss twins! I hit 6 stone this week too, doesn’t it feel good!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne we are a similar height and my ideal weight is between 7st 7lb and 10.1lb, I was probably around 8 years old when I last saw 7 stone something and that weight really doesn’t feel that it would be healthy. I’d like to be 10st 7 but am wondering if that’s a bit ambitious… it’s definitely crazy that you are still ‘obese’ as you clearly aren’t

@Elle771 it was around 3.5 to 4 stone when my dress size changed, and then you’ll find your size will keep dropping and you’ll be poor as you constantly need new clothes!
