Hello.
I've decided to try Mounjaro. It's coming up as £229 a month from the provider I signed up with - with the discounted price advertised of course. Is this market rate? Or am paying over the odds? I was under the impression it was more around £160 a month.

SilenceInside · 17/07/2025 10:10

@ManyATrueWord that's really really expensive! Check out the price comparison website https://monj.co.uk you'll see that the cheapest suppliers are coming in at under £100 for the starting dose of 2.5mg. The most I've ever paid for a pen was £189, which I probably could have got cheaper anyway. I'm currently paying about £135 for a 10mg pen.

That's very expensive. I've been on it 11 weeks and am still using 2.5mg - have paid £109 for each of my pens. I think you can get it cheaper than that still, but I've stuck with these guys as they've delivered each order next day and had no issues at all. I don't get coaching or anything with mine but haven't felt I needed it as there's so much support online

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 13:03

Yes, I agree, that is expensive @ManyATrueWord

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 13:06

My scales were having a moment this morning. Determined to tell me I’d put on half a stone overnight! 😲

I haven’t, of course! But I am delaying WI to tomorrow as I’m not having it on my log!!

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 13:06

You’re all looking fab in your photos!

ManyATrueWord · 17/07/2025 13:21

Thanks @SilenceInside and @Mumble12 .

I shall investigate further.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 17/07/2025 13:42

Thank you everyone. For the person who asked (I’m on the app so hard to scroll back and find the names) I am 5’8” and the weight is fairly evenly spread. The baggy T-shirt does a good job of hiding the wobbly stomach!

Bulldogsummer · 17/07/2025 14:18

It's hard to keep up with all the messages
Which is obviously the sign of a well used thread
I'm having a bad week
I'm on 15 mg
And I just want to eat everything in sight
I'm wondering if I should jab early
Or if this is just what happens
I've lost 7 stone ,but I've plenty more to loose
Does it stop being effective when you reach 15 mg
I'm on my 2nd pen of 15 mg
Cravings seem to be coming back a bit
It's unsettling me
I'm not due to jab until Saturday

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/07/2025 14:34

@Bulldogsummer I've been on 15mg for many months now.

Some days, I have no appetite. None at all.

Today, I'm hungry. I'm on holiday anyway, so giving myself some leeway to eat more than usual.

But it does vary from day to day, so don't worry.

Ive been on 15mg since December. It doesn't wear off, its like all the other doses. Sometimes we are just hungry. Sometimes I could not eat for a day or two, Somedays I could eat a ton. It's important we eat in a deficit, but that can be weekly or monthly, it doesn't have to be daily. If you are hungry gry eat some protein, macadamia nuts, cheese or a chicken piece is my go too. Or drink more water.

Yesterday I ate a family bag of Mano Masa, so far today I've eaten nothing. Try and go with the flow.

Lds1 · 17/07/2025 15:28

I don't really have a good comparison picture, I've found an old one but my feet have been cut off and I've found a nice new one, but I also found a good angle for a mirror selfie 😂

@Bulldogsummer Some days I want more food than others, eventually it will even itself out and usually works out in my favour.

Bulldogsummer · 17/07/2025 15:36

Not in the 9 months I've been on it
Have I had a single day I've not been hungry.
Im tired every single day..I just exist waiting for bedtime
But I'm vegan ,and I was very obese to start with
So I don't know if I've just knackered my body with extra weight it was carrying and a bad diet .or it's a the jab making me tired or the weather
I've forgotten to take my vitamins for the last two weeks
It's bloody typical
This week I turned down the WLS on NHS .I'd been waiting 4 years and they said February
But I felt confident I could do the rest myself ,so turned it down
Then bam ,bad week
Just typical

Dress looks lovely @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

@MummyInTheNecropolis amazing difference

mamabeeboo · 17/07/2025 18:42

@Bulldogsummer I know what you mean. How have you felt moving up the doses? Have you needed to move up or did you move up because you wanted to or your supplier advised?
In terms of hunger, Sunday was some time away, so it makes sense given the half life. Are you actually hungry, stomach rumbling? Or are you missing suppression? I'm assuming you're doing the usual tracking calories, high protein, loads of water?

My journey has been relatively drama free and no side effects other than weightloss. So I felt comfortable jabbing every 6 days to keep up momentum.

Of course only do what you are comfortable doing. I wouldn't encourage anyone to go against instructions, just saying what works for me.

Something that I do is calorie cycling, feel free to have a quick Google if you're not familiar. But it helps me keep my calories low at the beginning of the week and higher at the end so I don't feel too restricted.

mamabeeboo · 17/07/2025 18:44

A quick tip everyone - Babybel lights!!! Have you had them?!?

5g of protein and only 50 cals for the small circle!! I had no idea. I now have one or two a day for an easy 10g of protein on top of my food to keep the hunger at bay. This has changed my life!

Lds1 · 17/07/2025 19:29

@mamabeeboo I always have some mini cheese in the fridge 😀

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/07/2025 19:35

@mamabeeboo yup, love ‘em! Especially with a couple of cherry toms and dill pickled gherkins
@WafflingDreamer that’s an amazing difference, you’ve changed so much!

@Bulldogsummer If I remember rightly we started MJ around the same time and you’ve done so well to lose 7 stone, you should be really proud of that… I’ve been on 15mg for a few months now and it’s still doing its thing. I do feel hungry most days which is what I want to feel, I just find it easier to choose to have a big drink or fruit to stave off the hunger rather than reaching for carbs. I don’t like the full on suppression where I struggle to eat one meal a day. Are you hungry all the time or hungry at the right times, such as proper meal times? I also second what @mamabeeboo says about calorie cycling.

I love these! On a hard-to-eat day (never thought I’d have any of those), a Babybel and a cuppa soup sees me through the day

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 20:05

I like a normal babybel, hadn’t looked at the lights!

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 20:09

I really struggle to get enough protein.

Today I’ve managed about 50g. That’s with added protein powder to my breakfast smoothie and adding lentils to the veggie mince keema for supper.

Many days it’s less than that.

Any suggestions are most welcome!

TidyWasp · 17/07/2025 20:15

I needed to top up my protein today and your message hit just at the right time @mamabeeboo, I've been to Tesco and now happily munching my wee cheese 😊

@TragicMuse any dietary restrictions? I'm aiming for 130g protein a day which is bloody hard at times. I eat lots of cottage cheese, greek yoghurt and fish to try to get it 'naturally'. Aldi do a great range of protein foods with shakes, puddings, mousses etc, love their knock-off Fridge Raiders for low calorie high protein. I've also discovered Fulfil vitamin and protein bars taste way nicer than they have any right to given they're low calorie and low sugar.

TragicMuse · 17/07/2025 20:29

No dietary restrictions for me, but himself is veggie so I cook a lot of veggie foods...

I have protein puddings sometimes, and must get some more cottage cheese...

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/07/2025 20:38

I tend to mix protein powder into a low cal cup-a-soup, or in the hot weather I’ll make up freshly ground coffee, mix in protein power and leave it in the fridge overnight to make up iced coffee with some milk and sweetener. I’ve usually got a batch of hard boiled eggs in the fridge as well.

Fffreeeeezing · 17/07/2025 20:53

I seem to do okay on protein most days. I always have Greek yoghurt (the proper stuff, not the Greek style), with collagen powder, chia seeds and fruit for breakfast, that’s 34g. I had chicken Caesar salad for lunch and chucked in some anchovies, that was 37g and had chicken thighs with roasted veg, yoghurt coleslaw and pineapple cottage cheese with a protein pudding afterwards, that was 90g, think that’s 160 for the day and just over 1400 cals. Have been trying to eat lower carb this week to see if it makes any difference.

I am a complete carnivore though and don’t seem to have that Mounjaro thing everyone else seems to around volume of food, I always finish my meals.
I seem to add cottage cheese to every meal as I love the stuff as much as I love chicken and Greek yoghurt, this makes protein much easier for me!

The clear protein drinks are nice and an easy way to up your intake if you like squash like drinks
