So 2 of the dresses have arrived.. What do we think of this - I'd love a genuine response given you understand not knowing what size we are anymore and also that with oddly shaped bodies thigns won't look the same as on a slim person!

Is it too small? I dont want to go "with room" as I'll hopefully lose a few more stone as I go on.

I feel so insecure buying things I really need another perspective.

And yes currently wearing leggings with them but they'd be okay without.

It fits really well, you look smashing

TidyWasp · 16/07/2025 21:47

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden you look fab in that dress!

Having a bit of a stall at the moment, but pleasingly I can see it as a mild blip rather than a catastrophe resulting in me eating my bodyweight in pizza. Also just did my first ever couch to 5k run and now strongly believe running is the work of the devil. But I did it!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 16/07/2025 22:34

Wow couch to 5k! I'm so impressed!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/07/2025 22:54

@TragicMuse so happy and relieved for you! 🥳
And @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden you look amazing in that dress, you need to see it for yourself, you really do. I would die for a shapely bum like yours, mine is just flat.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/07/2025 22:57

@TidyWasp I felt exactly the same after my first c25k run, but I kept going and I’m on week 6 now (after repeating week 4 and 5) and I love it! I can’t wait to get out for another run! I never ever dreamt I’d be saying that but it really works!

Tomorrow is my last weigh in before I go on holiday next week - I need to lose 2lbs to get to 8 stone loss in total, I’m so hoping I can do it! Would feel amazing going away knowing I’ve lost 8 stone. Keep your fingers crossed for me please!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/07/2025 22:57

Wow, sorry for all the exclamation marks there, I must’ve got a bit overexcited - I’m not mad I promise 🤣.

TidyWasp · 16/07/2025 23:34

@MummyInTheNecropolis I'm well guilty of mad exclamation marks too!

I did feel great I finished it but my god it was hard; I'm still very morbidly obese and naturally one of the sweatiest humans alive so it wasn't pretty. Can see a lot of repeating in my future but better than doing nothing!

Fingers and toes crossed for you tomorrow, what an incredible achievement!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 16/07/2025 23:40

Wow 8!stone!

Motnight · 17/07/2025 06:21

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden really like the dress! I know what you mean about Seasalt sizing. I completely filled a size 24 elasticated waisted skirt a year ago with them, but was in reality at least a size 26. I'm a size 18/20 with them now, but their tops look very odd on me so have stopped wearing them (to be fair I bought them mostly because I needed a size 26 top and didn't have a lot of choice).

MummyInTheNecropolis · 17/07/2025 06:55

I did it! 4lbs off this week takes my total to 8 stone 2 pounds lost. I’m over the moon! I’m feeling brave so will share a photo. First photo shows me at my starting weight of 24 stone 13 pounds. Second one is my current weight (well last week’s weight actually, which was 17 stone 1). I’m now 16 stone 11. Delighted to be in the 16s!

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I think the dress looks lovely. The fitting round the bust then flaring out at the waist is really flattering. That's the sort of fitting I have been working for on DD's dresses. Flairing out from the waist also gives a really good fit on the hips as well, your hips aren't being 'cupped'.

GnomeDePlume · 17/07/2025 07:12

@MummyInTheNecropolis wow! Amazing weight loss but such a change in body shape as well.

TidyWasp · 17/07/2025 07:27

@MummyInTheNecropolis congratulations!!!!! 🎊 You look absolutely fantastic, well done on such an incredible loss!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 17/07/2025 07:44

Wow @MummyInTheNecropolis you look incredible!!!

It shows how weight doesn't tell us everything - you're literally the same weight in your current photo as I am now in mine but I'd need to lose a fair bit to look as trim as you!

I love seeing people's photos - thankyou for sharing ❤️ you can really see the difference.

@GnomeDePlume Thankyou - good to get an expert opinion 😁. My brain is not gifted in this way at all! I am still in awe you can make clothes.

PearlsPearl · 17/07/2025 07:48

@MummyInTheNecropolis your new body shape is amazing, you must feel so so good!!

GnomeDePlume · 17/07/2025 08:21

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 108.2kg BMI 42.3
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

800g down which doesnt sound like much but converts to 1.75lbs in old money. So I am now 17 stone and 1/2lb. 16 stone something is tantalisingly close. 4.5 stone down.

Still not seeing it though. The barrel rolls on!

Lobsterteapot · 17/07/2025 08:32

@MummyInTheNecropolis Absolutely fantastic! Well done 👏

WafflingDreamer · 17/07/2025 08:38

Weigh in number 41
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 15st 12lb (BMI 32.8)
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)
1lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1
Total loss 81lbs / 5st 11lb
Just 1lb down this week but I've lost 6lb in the last 3 weeks so I'm happy. Im getting so close to 6st. My kids all finish school next week and I'm very nervous about how summer is going to go with such a huge change in my routine. Although we are financially not very well off so won't be able to do many big days out

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/07/2025 09:19

@MummyInTheNecropolis you’re looking fab! (I’m another who gets carried away with the exclamation marks) and 8 stone off is bloody brilliant, you must feel like a different person.

I love seeing progress photos too, our shapes seem to change so much.

congrats on the continuing losses @WafflingDreamer (we are so close with our losses, 6 stone off is tantalisingly close for me too) and @GnomeDePlume

I changed provider this week to Swift Doctor, I’ve exhausted myself chasing discounts using Monj so have gone with a cheaper in the long run provider, ordered on Monday, received today! They only wanted a photo of me in tight fitting clothes (with today’s date on a piece of paper) - couldn’t find a tight fitting top so I thought ‘fuck it’ and they got one of me in just a bra and knickers. That’s probably why they approved it so quickly 😂

@MummyInTheNecropolis Are you very tall you look ever so slim, perhaps I don't know what I look like anymore as I'm almost a stone lighter than you and feel like I look much bigger.

My first photo is dreadful as I had to take a selfie as I was too embarrassed to ask anyone to do it, my daughters fight over who gets to take them now. Not sure how many more I'll get out of those Pyjamas!!

@WafflingDreamer my DCs are all adults now. The things they remember from childhood are the trips to the park, not the holidays.

They do remember trips to the zoo but I think that is because we lived close to Rotterdam zoo and we had an annual membership so they went very frequently.

Notice 'they' went, I didn't go, DH took them. I wasn't as big as I am now but even then I hated walking round the zoo. I'd be bored witless after about 10 minutes!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/07/2025 09:24

I’ve also found that the seasalt clothes that I loved as a size 26/28 no longer suit me, my go to tunics and linen dresses just make me look like Hagrid now. I have bought some second hand seasalt clothes from Vinted and the more fitted styles or the fit and flare like Fatsia’s dress look better on me now.

GnomeDePlume · 17/07/2025 09:33

As research for the future I have been looking at 'how to dress for your body shape' websites.

As I am still barrel shaped I think I am going to stay that way just a smaller barrel. That, apparently, is rectangular shape. Dressing for that shape is about trying to create the illusion of a waist. That is going to take a lot of imagination in the eye of the beholder.

Lds1 · 17/07/2025 09:35

Weighed in this morning first real loss in a while. Lost 1.4kg (3 lb and 1.38 oz). I went up to 12.5 so maybe it was just time to increase.

SW: 142.8kg (22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz)
CW: 88.1kg (13 stone, 12 lb and 3.64 oz)
Loss: 54.7kg (8 stone, 8 lb and 9.49 oz)
To go: 28.1kg (4 stone, 5 lb and 15.2 oz)
BMI: 50.8 now 31.3

I have 4kg (8 lb and 13.1 oz) to go before I'm overweight, I really hope I get there soon.

I'm feeling like I should maybe post a picture too but I'd struggle to find an old one.

GnomeDePlume · 17/07/2025 09:52

That's an incredible loss @Lds1 38% of your starting weight!

Isnt it funny how we all know that BMI is bobbins yet still feel tied to it.
