Oh, my days. Having been all gungho about no side effects, this morning I was caught short. I have never run so quickly into a supermarket loo in my life. Thankfully it's where I drop the DC for their school bus, they were just opening up as I realised I didn't have time to get home.

I couldn't leave for 45 minutes. I don't actually know how I'll be able to go back, and it's my closest supermarket so I nip in a lot. They had staff checking on me and everything. I had to ask for bleach and extra loo roll.

Ate 1,300 yesterday, lots of veg, did my exercise, drank loads of herbal tea and water, no alcohol since Saturday, nothing too sweet or heavy or fatty.

Mortified.

@LongGinShortTonic aww bless you. I died a little bit inside reading this, so can only imagine how you were feeling. Like others said, you won't be the first or last or happens too. And I'd hope noone would be blasé enough to bring it up on your next visit. So head held high, life happens. It could've been illness or anything. You've got this. What I would suggest, is go back sooner rather than later to save it living rent free in your head for too long!

W5D2 6.5lb down. I had my first dose of 3.75mg 2 days ago. Found I was not getting any satiety effects or food noise suppression on the 2.5mg for the last 2 weeks after day 5 and I don’t know if that was because of leakage after injecting or not. Didn’t use golden dose- bottled it and wanted to up my dose! Stretched my skin as I injected this time and pushed the plunger even slower and no leakage, so I’ll keep doing this in case it was a technique thing!
Something that put it more into perspective for me- 1lb fat is 3500cal which means to lose 1lb in 1 week you have to eat 500cal fewer a day, which I think is quite a lot. I them put my weight height age sex into chat gpt and asked it to work out my bmr and my tdee- well that was depressing!!! I need to do more exercise!

@waitingforlifeonmars usually when trying to lose weight you shouldn’t count any calories lost from exercise. Exercise is important for muscle building and retention, but 90% of weight loss is about what you eat.

I have made sure that I have separated the exercise calories that my app calculates (it’s just almost impossible to work out how much you actually burn).

You poor thing! Id bite the bullet. Go in soon, take a box of chocs and a “thank you for looking after me when I was poorly” card.

Crinklecat · 08/07/2025 17:30

i hope this doesn’t trigger anyone but I really want chip shop chips and wine. I’ve eaten the leftover pizza and courgette fries from the weekend and had a glass of wine but the craving is still there. W4 d2 and haven’t fancied food much at all but when I do I can’t stop thinking about it

Have them? One lot of chips isn’t going to make a difference long term. Denting can sometimes make the craving worse.

Yes I think I will. I felt so sick all day after a small breakfast and now want all the bad food, doesn’t make sense

UglyBastardFace · 08/07/2025 18:02

@LongGinShortTonic I remember many moons ago going to my regular bar and drinking a milky cocktail. Ten minutes later I was running to the loo. I was there for over an hour, staff came to the ladies' to check, and so did the person I was with. Did I mention I was on a first date?! He thought I'd done a runner. I was doing a lot of running, just not the kind he thought.....

Next time I went back to the bar, there were different staff and the one or two from that night were more concerned than anything, then laughed it off.

You've got nothing to worry about.

@LongGinShortTonic, hope your insides have settled a little now. Thank goodness the store was there and open!
@UglyBastardFace, did you have a second date? 🤣

UglyBastardFace · 08/07/2025 18:21

@ThisNeedsToWork No second date but I'm certain he thought I faked the whole thing to get out of the date. A bit tragic when you think he must have believed I thought a smelly latrine was better company than he was...😜

@FoxRedPuppy all your posts are so wise and Im finding them all so helpful.
Thank you
@Crinklecat I agree.
Have them. But expect to feel fuller quicker.
Also, just a word of warning that others on here have reported that greasy/fatty food causes more unwanted SE.
I've had one bag of crisps once since starting. For various reasons it was the only thing I ate that day.
I felt v uncomfortable afterwards for several hours and ended up needing a rennie so I could go to bed and a very uncomfortable toilet the next day.
However, I HAVE been ok with limited/reduced alcohol. Which i have guiltily enjoyed

HereWeGoooovy · 08/07/2025 18:40

So I’m still getting full quickly but my sugar cravings are still there. Not as noisy as life pre-WLI but definitely still there and I was drawn to the shared chocolates in the office.

And I was peckish after work. But I did close the kids snack drawer and instead gave a high protein babybel so that’s something I suppose.

Need to kill off the sugar fiend in me. But love it. Kill it. But chocolate is amazing. Kill it you don’t need it. This is my battle.

BadgerFace · 08/07/2025 18:54

I had my first day of side effects on Friday. Felt quite off all day but had to be in the office and then out for dinner and he theatre. Luckily I was okay by the next day!

W6D6 today, mid- week weigh in suggests I won’t lose anything this week but after the unexpected 3lb last week I think that’s okay as an average.

NSV I’ve had two friends in the last week ask me if I’ve lost weight so it’s starting to show, which is nice!

I’ve got my second 2.5mg pen to start on Thursday. Thinking I might go up for the third month as loss has slowed but still undecided…

Help I am so confused 😵‍💫
what does supression feel like to you ?
what does the restriction feel like?

I have had what seems to be some of both the above but supression barely . Nothing strong . I wake up not hungry but as soon as. I eat i am wanting to pick and thinking about food all day not craving the edge is definitely taken off. I have a full stomach, but I have had about 1800 calories today 😩. I am worried that I will never have the full benefit . I had a gastric bypass 29 yrs ago so lost food noise and had supression for many years . I am wondering if this is messing with my progress now. Any advice welcome 🙃

FoxRedPuppy · 08/07/2025 20:00

@RatherTardy thanks. I’m neurodivergent and love a nerdy read about almost anything 😂. I think this has become one of my recent special interests!

Sugar cravings- could you be having sugar level crashes? So protein not only fills you up, but keeps sugar levels more constant so you don’t crash. Could you look at what you are eating across a day and try and level it out?

FoxRedPuppy · 08/07/2025 20:02

@RussianDoll76 suppression for me feels like, I don’t constantly think about food and what I’m going to eat, and what I can snack on. I don’t open the fridge door anymore aimlessly 😂.

I seem much more aware of when I’m full and stop eating. I get hungry, but I’m able to wait for a meal time rather than stuff food in immediately.

Are you on a low ish dose? Maybe you need a higher dose

Sam187 · 08/07/2025 20:07

W6D1 for me, first jump up to 3.75mg and feeling quite nauseous tonight. I had a mad wave of heat earlier, which was strange given that my most prominent SE so far has been feeling cold. Went for a walk and it settled, although I'm definitely low on cals today at only 900 odd now after dinner and a protein bar.

Now I've just had a bath and feel incredibly full and nauseous. Going to sip on water and hope it passes.

FoxRedPuppy · 08/07/2025 20:18

@HereWeGoooovy just remembered that bread that going for a walk after a meal is supposed to help control sugar spikes. No idea if it works!

Ladies I'm in a bit of a panic. I weaned my LO before I started the jabs and he's been fine without any feeds. But this evening he took a tumble (he's fine) and was inconsolable (also getting a big tooth so feeling all the emotions) and would only settle on the boob. I tried every distraction under the sun but he was just soo soo upset and grabbing for milk sobbing mama. I literally only fed him for about 5 minutes before he calmed and snuggled in, but now I'm freaking out about side effects/harm to him! Also worried that he'll want to keep feeding now, and I've been on the jabs 5 weeks and due to jab a 5 tomorrow...i don't even know what I'm expecting here I'm just so wracked with guilt that my vanity has potentially harmed him

FoxRedPuppy · 08/07/2025 20:26

First, not vanity, health. From what I’ve read the reason it is not recommended is because of lack of data. They seem to think the risk would be very low due to molecule size being too high to pass into milk.

You are human. As to future feeds, I’m not the expert there. I stopped breastfeeding mine at a few weeks due to other meds.

I’ve been like you the whole way through - I’m just about to start week 8. I think it’s good and lets you change your habits. I’m eating quite large portions and rarely feel full, but it’s lots of fruit, veg, pulses etc. loads of yogurt! I’m not counting calories though, just eating healthy and No processed food or refined sugars. I hope it will help at the other end because I’ve had to use a lot of willpower and make good choices too.

Are you still eating ALL the chocolate, though? Or as much as pre-jabs?

I find 1 or 2 squares of 70% dark is absolutely enough

I still get hungry, but I find that I just eat what I feel I need, as opposed to scoffing everything in sight and then snacking. I used to snack loads and now I manage a protein shake, 2 meals and maybe an apple. My guilty treat of a latte each morning is still a thing though!

I wonder if it's the same idea as alcohol in the sense of a "drop in the ocean" with regards to how much LO actually gets?

Id speak to your provider just for peace of mind but I'm sure as pp said, it's more just lack of data.

You're not a bad mum, don't think it's picking vanity! I'm doing this FOR my 3 year old so I can have the energy and health to chase him around! Even managed a good session on the trampoline with him the other day, usually I'd be puffed out after a minute.

Sending you lots of love x

i was a MAJOR chocaholic prior to starting MJ seven weeks ago. But I’ve not had any refined sugar. I have, however, had LOADS of unrefined sugar in the form of fruit. I probably have a banana daily and probably four punnets of grapes a week- I have them nearly every evening with Greek yoghurt. Now a lot of people will say they’re too high in calories and sugars, but I think they’ve got to be better than what I used to eat! And my blood sugar levels are great plus I’m losing well. And I don’t seem to get sugar cravings. I have a little cafe and I’m surrounded by chocolate (I use it to decorate cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolates). Usually it drives me mad, but it isn’t at all now. I wonder if my bits of natural sugar in the fruit helps? I’m embarrassed how much longer a family bag of caramac buttons, that I use for my brownies, lasts - because I must have eaten 2/3 of them before!
