Can I join please? WK1 day 4! Had some nausea on the first and second day but no other SE yet! Weighed myself today and I was 4lb down but surely that can’t be right.. I had just been to toilet and it was first thing in the morning!? I have a lunch out today with friends and I’m feeling a little nervous, all meals have already been ordered and it’s 3 indulgent courses! Not interested in food at all right now.

I’ve bit the bullet and started on Mounjaro. My start weight is 15st 1. I took my first dose of 2.5g on Thursday and I can’t say that I’ve had food suppression but when I eat, I feel nauseous. Am I likely to continue like this or does it get better?

I started my first jab on Thursday too. But my nausea only lasted two days - my food suppression kicked in pretty much straight away!

Dontknowwhattocallmyselfanymore · 29/06/2025 07:12

Hello. I’ve just started MJ yesterday and have woken up with terrible nausea and vomiting. Is this normal and how long will it last, there’s no way I can function like this! Thank you

SnackcidentProne · 28/06/2025 22:29

If you’ve increased your exercise routine you may be experiencing inflammation to your muscles. This could lead to fluid retention while the muscles repair. It’s a normal response so though you will probably be experiencing fat loss this will be masked by the extra fluid you will carrying.

Also depending on where you live and if you are experiencing the current hot weather this could lead to your body holding extra water. Again a normal response as your body tries to regulate your temperature and maintain hydration.

Thank you - very hot here so that makes sense.

I also did the conversion and realised that’s 9lbs in a fortnight which is actually pretty awesome - i usually stick to kg as it has fewer associations with past dieting failures. Anyway, onwards and downwards!

Good luck! I was only managing 700-900 calories a day earlier this week and not wanting wine, but had a night out on Friday and enjoyed a few drinks and a meal. I calculated after I’d still only had 1600 calories for the day but it wasn’t obvious I was on MJ as I just left some of my dinner which wouldn’t be unusual with restaurant portions/ drinking too

Seriestwo · 29/06/2025 08:13

I posted moaning that I’d gained a pound and a half, thanks, PP, I have lost a pound overnight despite drinking most of a bottle of wine and eating crap. So, my eating behaviour hasn’t changed - I’ll eat badly in response to bad news.

that was day 11 of 2.5, so my appetite suppression has been massive. I just took 1,24, Ill dontthat again on Wed or Thu. see if that improves the effect so I can eat more.

healthjourney · 29/06/2025 08:26

Morning everyone
Week 3 weigh in for me and another 2.5 pounds down for a total of 11 lbs which I am super happy with.
Im staying on 2.5 for at least another month as I'm getting good results with limited side effects.
NSVs this week, I now fit into 2 pairs of jeans that were too small 3 weeks ago and I donated 3 bags of old clothes to the charity shop yesterday (I lost about a stone before starting mounjaro). I love a good wardrobe clear out 😄

FoxRedPuppy · 28/06/2025 19:55

I feel stupid now for ordering 5mg for my next pen. 2.5mg is working really well. I was worried that it might not by end of 4 weeks. But I’m W2D5 and I’m struggling to finish my dinner!

You don’t need to feel stupid. I have done exactly the same. I’ve been great on 2.5mg - virtually no side effects, I can eat a normal meal if I want to, but I am basically only interested in healthy food and have no desire whatsoever for snacks, cakes or alcohol.

I’ve lost loads of weight as well - reached the 1.5 stone mark today 4 weeks exactly after my first jab.

I did feel really hungry for a few days in week 2 though, and that’s when I ordered my next pen - I thought if I feel hungry now I definitely will need to go up at the end of this pen.

So I have got a 5mg pen now, but I feel fine on 2.5. I’m just looking at it as I can stay on 2.5 if I want to but I can go up any week I like without having to wait until the end of a pen if I had ordered 2.5 again.

I was thinking I would use the bonus dose tonight to go up to 3.75 if there’s enough, but I might not actually - aI might just stay on 2.5 until I need to move up. 5mg was the same price as 2.5 so it’s no loss anyway.

Also - hooray - I have lost a stone and a half!!

wheretheheckissummer · 29/06/2025 08:56

So I messaged my provider about the side effects I have been experiencing and got the following reply. So I am going to skip next weeks dose as suggested and then take it from there. Maybe it will help someone else?

I’m sorry to hear you've been feeling unwell after your first two doses. What you’ve described — diarrhoea, nausea, heartburn, indigestion, and exhaustion — are unfortunately quite common side effects when starting Mounjaro. These symptoms often settle with time, but for some people they can be quite difficult to manage.

There isn’t a lower dose than 2.5mg available, so there’s no smaller option to drop to. However, many patients do choose to take a break and retry the same dose after a few weeks once their body has had time to reset. That could be a sensible approach here.

Some other tips that might help:

  • Try taking your dose just before bed so you sleep through the peak side effects.
  • Eat smaller, blander meals more often (e.g. crackers, toast, apples, ginger tea).
  • Avoid rich, spicy, or fatty foods while you’re adjusting.
  • Staying well hydrated is key – electrolytes (like Dioralyte or similar) are safe and can help.
  • Some people do find magnesium supplements helpful for nausea and bowel symptoms, but we suggest checking this with your pharmacist or GP to make sure it’s suitable for you based on any other medication you're on.
For now, if the symptoms have been this difficult, I would suggest skipping your next dose, continuing to hydrate, and giving your body time to recover. Let us know how you get on and we can help you work out the best plan moving forward.

Oh no, that's awful you're feeling that way. Stay hydrated even though it may be the last thing you want to do.
Hopefully someone who has experienced the same can offer words of reassurance that this will pass. Side effects are always worst the first day or 2 after injection. Especially so as you're body is becoming accustomed to the medication. Feel better soon

cigarsmokingwoman · 29/06/2025 09:09

W5D1 12lbs down. Took the 5th dosage of 2.5mg and next week I'm going to move to 3.75mg so see how that goes.

Vater · 29/06/2025 09:10

I’ve just completed my first 4 weeks and lost 13lbs. Can’t remember feeling this good in a long time. I’m 14st now, aiming for 11.5 stone

Seriestwo · 29/06/2025 09:31

Those of you splitting doses - how do you get the needle for the pen? Do you just extract it like the golden dose or do you buy extra pen needles somewhere?

KillerMounjaro · 29/06/2025 09:52

Seriestwo · 29/06/2025 09:31

I haven’t done it yet, but you can do either. I don’t think at this stage I will use a pen beyond its expiry though, so it would still only be one extra dose once my four needles were used.

My supplier asked how many doses I had used of the current pen and on what date I took the last one, so I don’t want to make it difficult to get the next one if I have no explanation for why it’s so long since I ordered the last pen by using eg 10 x2.5 doses out of a 5mg pen.

So if I’m not doing that, I’ll just use four as normal and then one syringe like the bonus dose.

Seriestwo · 29/06/2025 09:58

I told my supplier I’d be splitting the 2.5mg, they said they can’t recommend it bc there isn’t a lower dose. Which is true, they can’t go off script for it, really

Mine came with extra needles. I assume in case one doesn’t work or something. I think I have about 6 for each pen.

FoxRedPuppy · 29/06/2025 10:13

Today’s worry is I’m losing too much too fast. I started reading old posts on here about loose skin and muscle loss! I’m weight training, but advice was also to cut back on cardio.

So I had a couple of glasses of wine last night to up my calorie intake to help slow progress 😂

can you track it in a graph so you see that sometimes it fluctuates but over time it goes down? A PP had done that.

RussianDoll76 · 29/06/2025 11:37

I was expecting a day of catching up at home yesterday but OH family called all meeting up at the pub it was wk1 day6 for me. I was mid way through cleaning the bathroom hot sweaty and not feeling it anyway but then no alcohol 🙀 I know many people enjoy themselves sober . ( I am not one of those people) i sat in a beautiful beer garden surrounded by people drinking lovely cold pints and other delicious looking creations and I had ……water . I felt I could’ve drunk but fear of on the spot side effects scared me too much so I abstained , then they went on to another pub more water 😂. I did it, I was quite proud of myself as I had a good time not as raucous as usual but my OH then said I like you better when you’re drinking and he’s not speaking to me today because there’s a big pub day today and he wants to go and I don’t . 😩. Now I was going to try drinking but it’s empty calories and I’m feeling so good I don’t see the point so I may lose more than just a few pounds on mounjaro 😞 . On the plus side I weighed in this morning before jan number 2 and I’ve lost 9lb2 😁 how is that even possible ! Thought I’d share it with you lovely lot as no one to talk to here 😂.

Gettingfitorbust · 29/06/2025 11:46

Well done on not drinking yesterday! I’m also on wk1 D6 and haven’t had a drink all week. To be honest I think it’s the alcohol to blame for much of my weight gain, as I always eat more when I drink too.
I’m hoping to reset that.

Mumofboys2006 · 29/06/2025 12:33

I just came here to say I thought I hadn’t lost any weight last week but turns out I’ve lost another couple of pounds! 🥳
im not at the end of the first month until Friday but have lost about 7lbs in 3 weeks.
I knew my weight would be slow in coming off as I didn’t eat a lot to start with. I didn’t have an unhealthy lifestyle or diet just a very sluggish metabolism thanks to years of dieting!
Still got a couple of stone to go but am feeling reenergised!😅

RatherTardy · 29/06/2025 13:04

HerFifthDecade · 28/06/2025 20:15

@RatherTardy , you were asking on excersise.I currently do x3 whole body classes a week and have found that’s helped build muscle.
I am on week 6 tomorrow (week2 on 5mg) and have lost 1st 5lb.I eat 1200 calories a day and do the 3 evening classes a week.
I occasionally add in 30-40 mins gym session on a weekend too.Suppression on 5mg has been brilliant so I will be staying on this.Have had slight nausea on hot days but that’s all.It all seems to be going well and got another 1.5 stone too lose to a suggested better weight, but will likely try to go till Xmas and get rid of a total of 5 stone. Will see how I feel, Nutracheck says will reach the milestone by September, then will go on till Xmas.Nutracheck has been really good app to track with.
I think try to give some classes or the gym /home sessions a go, I feel like I’m tackling the whole lot of reasons of my original weight gain and that motivates me.

Thank you so much.
That's great to hear.

Do you mind me asking, what do you do in the gym?

Looby99 · 29/06/2025 13:33

Hi! Has anyone noticed changes to their menstrual cycles since starting? I don't know if it's related to the jab itself or, I'm assuming more likely, the actual weight loss? But I've had spotting on a few occasions now and not due my period for another week. Never had it before, always been very regular. Not sure if I should mention to GP or if it's just a normal part of weight loss!

Edited to add I'm on week 3 day 4 so not been on them very long at all!

KAM1989 · 29/06/2025 13:34

@Looby99 I was going to post and ask this. I took my first dose Friday and I’ve had spotting today, not due for another 2 weeks.

Looby99 · 29/06/2025 13:36

@KAM1989 ooh mine didn't come on that quickly I think the first time was after my second jab
