Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Ooh, that's fab @GherkinsOnToast ! And snap! I wore a dress in public for the first time today too. Normally reserved for the garden, but the lack of chaffing made me feel brave.

@Gingercar I will do. I am intrigued by it being more comfortable than camping but less bother, and more private than a hotel. Well done on your bravery!

@Pimms123 yes. Only on 2.5mg but am exhausted every week on D1 and D2 especially.

PandyMoanyMum · 22/06/2025 20:02

Hello all, just checking in. I think the effects of 2.5mg (my second pen) has started to fade without me realising it. I appear to have put 3lb on this week. Could it be water retention from how hot it’s been, or am I clutching at straws?
I’ve been really disciplined and trying to keep to 1200 calories a day since falling off the wagon last weekend at a BBQ. But still 3lb on.
Maybe the scales are broken 😭 Or maybe my metabolism is the broken bit. I’m so fed up!

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 20:05

Give it a few days, see if it comes off again. If not perhaps reassess what you’re eating? Are you eating enough? I think a lot of people plateau for awhile.

PandyMoanyMum · 22/06/2025 20:20

Thanks @Gingercar, I’m trying not to catastrophise, I’ve just been reading about a mounjaro honeymoon when you first start and then the body pushes back. I probably need to eat more protein. Hmmm.

Checking into the new thread. I moved up to 5mg and had my second jab on Friday. The major SE for me have been fatigue and constipation.
I had so much energy on 2.5 but suppression wasn't great. I used to go for long morning walks on my days off but now I can't get out of bed before 10am and I have to force myself.
After my first 5mg jab I stayed in bed til 3pm because I was that exhausted. But now I know what to expect . suppression is great for the first 4/5 days but I just feel so tired. Is anyone else going through this?

Hi Pimm’s!

yes! Me! I had my first 5mg Jan on Weds night and I am still exhausted. I had to have naps the first two days and still dragging myself through the days at the moment. I’m not sure if it’s the combo of my first period on Mj as well?

fingers crossed Thai passes for us both soon - I’m not sure I could manage like this long term. And what on Earth does 7.5 feel like then!!??

dizzyupthegirl86 · 22/06/2025 20:46

You do retain more water when it’s hot, so maybe!
I found that the weeks I’ve lost the least, I’ve not actually eaten that much. My calorie goal is about 1600, I had a week where I averaged about 1250 every day and the scales didn’t move for six days. Eating closer to the 1600 and making sure I’ve had a decent amount of protein seems to work much better for me.

SaintAgatha · 22/06/2025 21:17

I agree @Bellee11and I said something similar to a friend recently. Being thin has social capital - but if we’re all thin, what will people use to ascribe superiority in lieu of it?

I’ve moved up to 5mg as of last night and I don’t feel the same suppression yet that I did when I started on the 2.5mg. I am quite tired today but put that down to my busy life right now (full time job, second part time job, single parent and Cat Mum!) but I suppose it could be the switch up.

One thing I’ve noticed since I started MJ is my attention span is far better. I’ve been doing all the chores before bed instead of leaving them until the morning, which is basically like witchcraft in my gaff.

This is so interesting! I’m struggling to hit 1,000 calories a day so far but on the days I have got over 1,200 I have seemed to lose a bit more. I can’t imagine managing to get up to my BMR of 1,600. It’s really making me worry about regaining one day!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/06/2025 22:23

Small whinge ahead. Usual disclaimers of, I love my partner, I know how lucky I am, etc.

He has a different sleep schedule to me, so his natural waking hours are 1pm - 2am. This means he's often cooking his main meal at 10pm or later and, in case I haven't mentioned it before, he's a fantastic cook. He makes the whole house smell like spices and herbs and buttered chicken.

My natural waking hours now I'm not drinking heavily are 8am-10pm. Used to be later but got seemingly permanently altered by having kids.

So I'm upstairs getting ready for bed, on a calorie deficit, and the house suddenly smells delicious. My stomach is rumbling like mad.

There isn't anything I can do about this, but I have more understanding for how I put so much weight on pre Mj. We started living together in 2021 and I went from 10 stone 10lbs to 17 stone 2lbs. That 10pm meal and another few beers really piled on the pounds.

I'm glad I have mj as a 10pm meal shield for now but no idea what my long term strategy is! It smells like a curry house in here!

dizzyupthegirl86 · 22/06/2025 22:32

@HKG you’d be better off working out your TDEE and then having a deficit based on that. Typically to lose a pound a week, your allowance would be TDEE less 500 calories

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 22:32

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Yes I can understand how that would be hard. Although now I’m on MJ I really don’t seem to care what my husband eats. We usually have a takeaway on Sunday because I work weekends, and for the last fortnight he’s had one and I haven’t. And it hasn’t bothered me at all. And it hasn’t bothered me when I’ve been baking for the cafe. I make brownies with melted chocolate on top and then I add pieces of caramac to the chocolate. And usually I eat half the caramac buttons while I’m doing it. It’s been a bit embarrassing just how many less packets of caramac buttons I’ve used - same for the mint aero bubbles that go on top of the milkshake/hot chocs!😊

MarinaDelRay · 22/06/2025 22:32

W6D2
I must be the slowest loser here. I’ve only lost 4lbs in total. No side effects apart from an elevated heartrate that sometimes keeps me awake at the beginnng of each week. Not much in the way of appetite suppression though. I have hunger pangs before each mealtime and it is a struggle keeping under 1300 calories.

I know I should move up to 5mg next time. I’m worried about side effects but need a bit more help than I’m getting from the 2.5.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/06/2025 22:40

@gingercar I get that, I ordered dominos for everyone bar me this week and I love a texas bbq pizza, but on mj I wasn't remotely fussed.
My partner's cooking is something else.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 22/06/2025 22:48

Hi losers! Hope you’re all well! Happy to find the new thread.
I’ve lost a 3 gallon tub of super premium ice cream now! 24lbs.
currently replacing items in my wardrobe, so very busy on Vinted.
jab day today and I’m a bit late because we’ve been out all weekend.
i had wine yesterday (and today actually! Celebratory weekend!) and it really doesn’t agree with me 💩 💩 so I think I’ll delay jabbing til the morning when my stomach feels a bit more normal.

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 22:54

That’s brilliant @AccidentalPrawnYouFool . How long did that take? You’ve lost my little dog and my small cat!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/06/2025 22:56

Oh gosh, well done @AccidentalPrawnYouFool !

I've also been on vinted, trying to find a bridesmaid dress for autumn this year. I just don't know what size I'll be then.

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 23:05

You’ll perhaps have to shop for the dress in a couple of months. You’ll have more of an idea then.

RoaryMouth · 22/06/2025 23:17

Signing in to the new thread. 😃

I’m about to do jab number 8. 5mg. I think I’ll stay on 5mg for another pen then drop down to 2.5mg.

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 23:22

How come you’re going back to 2.5 again? (Sorry, just curious)

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 22/06/2025 23:46

Gingercar · 22/06/2025 23:22

Just because I’ve not got much more to lose. Reckon another 5mg pen and I’ll be at goal weight. I’ll then titrate down to 2.5 before I stop.

Gingercar · 23/06/2025 00:01

How exciting. We’ll done.

Pimms123 · 23/06/2025 07:16

@HKG aww I'm sorry you're also going through this too. It's awful isn't it. Stupidly I'm thinking about going Up to 7.5. if the SE are awful then I will go back to 2.5 even though the suppression wasn't great but at least I had energy.
Hopefully out bodies will get used to it 🤞

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/06/2025 08:55

Spent half the night feeling awfully sick and then had to go to the loo urgently this morning. I jabbed on Friday so I can't tell if it's SE or just unfortunate (or both!).

On the upside, it's lovely and fresh outside today, nice breeze and all the mugginess has gone. Think I might try a longer walk today.

Have a nice day losers!

SilkCottonTree · 23/06/2025 10:23

I'm on week 6 and have only lost 2.5kg according to my rubbish scales, however I have gone down a dress size, so I think I am not going to weigh myself regularly anymore as I just wanted to be slimmer rather than an arbitrary number. Although maybe I should invest in better scales - can any one recommend any?
