Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Gosh, us poor knackered bathroom-sprinting losers 😴
Hope a good night's sleep will see us right. Night night folks, sleep tight.

@SilkCottonTree I've also got the Renpho scales that @dizzyupthegirl86 mentioned. They're so useful to see muscle mass, water levels, body fat etc and they're cheap. I think totally worth it.

I have those too. Although they sometimes make me sad. ☹️

dizzyupthegirl86 · 23/06/2025 22:37

Actually that screenshot has made me realise that I probably haven’t helped by how I ate yesterday. I had a light breakfast and then some bbq stuff about 3pm. Not loads, but it wasn’t a breakfast/ lunch/dinner kinda day.

Kbr22 · 23/06/2025 22:43

What are you taking to help with constipation, that and being tired seem to be my SA’s, I was fine on 2.5 but now on 5 and the constipation is driving me mad. Any advice will be gratefully received. I am also losing very slowly 4.5kg in 6 weeks, but ok with that for the moment. Good luck everyone

dizzyupthegirl86 · 24/06/2025 06:36

I have some prunes, I don’t take them every day though I probably should (I don’t get constipated often, only happened once so far). I started off with one then upped quantity gradually once I knew it wouldn’t have the opposite effect! I think 4-5 is my sweet spot.

TreesOfGreen99 · 24/06/2025 07:04

Psyllium husk tablets - recommended on here by previous poster.
Ground Flax seed - recommended by gynae
Lots of water every day.

Needsomeadvice2234 · 24/06/2025 07:23

Checking in....lost 11kg since 10th May - first 5mg dose yesterday morning and I'm already throwing up this AM 😶 7kg til my goal weight but god I feel awful! Thank god I wfh most days as I can't be too far from the bathroom....too scared to eat at the moment. Tell me it's worth it!!

Mounjour · 24/06/2025 07:52

@Bundleflower I believe that sleep and stress both impact on our body's ability to lose fat. However, I agree it might be worth tracking your calories and macros on the basis that information is power.

Constipation - I'm taking Happy Fibre (Inulin) Chicory Root Prebiotic Gum mies. I take one or two most days depending on how things have been moving that day. Downsides are cost and UPF, upsides are they are very easy to swallow. They really sorted things for me.

Could I ask for some advice regarding travel and hear your experiences of going away please?

I am due to have the 5th dose from my first 2.5mg this Thursday. I've got my next pen (5mg) ready in the fridge.

First decision is whether to take the 5th 2.5mg at all or whether I go straight to the 5mg dose this week as it would give me time to get used to any SE if any before travel.

The second decision is how to manage dosage while I am away for 10 days, plus I am travelling by train to Italy so I'm not sure I'll able to keep the pen below 30°.

Morning everyone , not posted in a while but been trying to keep up with all your posts. Everyone sounds like they are doing amazing. I’m 11.5 kg down from may6th which I’m over the moon with but also slightly frustrated that some people haven’t even noticed I’m loosing weight , just shows how big I’d managed to get! Hey ho 😂. I moved up to 5mg 2 weeks ago - it’s gotten better but I still found the days after my jab last week awful- the sulphur burps, tiredness and your issues! Think I’m just going to take 4 this week counting clicks . I store my pen in the fridge and happy to let it over the 30 days slightly if it means it . Have a holiday coming up in august and would like as close to another stone off as possible , either way I’m going to feel so much better than I did last year on holiday so I’m looking forward to that . Have a great day everyone x

FlorenceNightshade · 24/06/2025 09:18

6th jab today, second one out of my 5mg pen. No real side effects to complain about. I have been really busy with work this week and not found time to do much exercise apart from walking.

Happy with a small loss as my food intake was pretty standard for me but definitely let my water slip so will focus on that this week!

SW 92.9
CW 83.5

Week 5 loss 0.4kg (5mg dose)

Total loss so far 9.4kg/20lbs and I’ve now lost 10% of my body weight! BMI down from 30 to 27 and I think realistically I’m about halfway from where I want to be but not setting any firm targets for myself.

Onwards and downwards ✌️

Gingercar · 24/06/2025 09:34

End of week 5 for me and I’ve lost 3.5lbs this week, which is a surprise. I sneaky peeked on Thurs because it was à calendar month since I started, and I thought I may have lost another lb since, but very pleased with 3.5.

Makes a total loss of 16.5 - almost at my next goal of 18lbs which is what my little dog weighs!

BerfyTigot · 24/06/2025 10:38

6 week weigh in

SW: 102.2kg
CW: 94.5kg

Total weight loss 7.7kg

Really pleased with this as I was beginning to feel completely out of control around food.

Hope everyone else is doing well too.

keeponplodding7 · 24/06/2025 12:35

Love all these updates! 7th jab today. A day late as felt a bit sick yesterday. My own fault as I wasn’t particularly well behaved this weekend……
So in total for the 7 weeks I’ve lost 11lb. I was already doing a calorie deficit before I started so had lost the initial water stuff already if that makes sense. It’s not a massive loss compared to others but I have never managed to lost that much in 7 weeks so I’m very happy and staying on 2.5mg. I’m also only a stone away from my target weight of 9 stone 7 so feeling positive.

Phat2fin · 24/06/2025 12:43

Not posted for a few weeks but I’m happy to report I’m now under 100kg for the first time in 4-5 years!

SW 110.2kg
CW 99.5kg

I’ve completely lost track of what week I’m on but I think I’ve done 4x 2.5mg and 4x 3.75mg so 8 jabs in total. My next target is 92.5kg as I know that’s what I weighed in December 2019 - I put on a lot of weight during lockdown.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 24/06/2025 13:30

I think this is the thread I should be on I was late April early May! Just taken a golden dose no way am I throwing away those bad boys. I’m 2stone 5lb down and man am I saggy. However my shorts from 3 years ago now fit and there’s even surplus room to tuck my sag in!

Congratulations on the below 100kg on scale. I have now been on 100.1/100.0 for 3 days. I'm now considering cutting my hair just to get below the stupid 100 and be in double digits again 😅

I also love the mini goals, feels so achievable this way!

Bit of a disaster last week trying to get the 5th dose out of my last 2.5mg pen. The hard twist did work but I buggered it up somehow and got a tiny amount out!

Onto third pen this week and going to skip a day and start on 3.5mg tonight.

This was going to be my last pen but I think I'm going to do one more month to take me through to August.

I am am dreading coming off MJ now but realistically even if I drop into the 9s, I'll never maintain that low level. I haven't been 9 stone something for decades!

BeMellowAquaSquid · 24/06/2025 13:40

Is anyone taking MJ in secret? As in just telling people they are dieting and exercising and losing weight that way? I’m not by the way I’m quite open about it but I do have a friend who is doing this…

I am (sort of!)...my DH knows, one close friend does and then one who was so anti WLI that I couldn't help myself and told them...but they live far away.

I think I'm worried about looking like I'm inviting people's opinions.

My DH is taking MJ, has been very open at work about it and 99% of people have been so supportive (even confiding in him that they're thinking about it too) ... but a couple of people were very negative.

Minefield!!

FlorenceNightshade · 24/06/2025 13:57

@BeMellowAquaSquid I’ve not told anyone. I did discuss it with my Husband as I thought we could do it together, he wasn’t interested so I said I’d think about it some more.

I ordered my first pen in the spur of the moment a few weeks later and while I haven’t and wouldn’t lie I just haven’t said anything! I’ve lost over a stone and he’s not said anything and neither has anyone else.

I pay for it out my own account and I pick up extra shifts to cover the initial cost. I do feel a bit sneaky but also it’s gone on for weeks now so I’m stuck between “any second now he will notice and say something” and “well it’s gone on too long now and saying something would feel awkward!”

Stupid thing is I know (after 20+ years together) he won’t be upset he’ll probably think it’s funny I managed to keep a secret from him!

BeMellowAquaSquid · 24/06/2025 14:29

I have definitely found people have some seriously whacky opinions on it. The mere mention of calorie counting, herbal life, Atkins, weight watchers, deficits or pens has everyone in a real twist of knickers doesn’t it? Normally size 8, gym buffs with more time on their hands have been the ones to frown upon me!

Gingercar · 24/06/2025 15:09

My husband knows and a couple of friends, but I’m generally keeping it under my hat for now. Nobody has noticed yet anyway. I’ve a couple of friends that I mentioned I was thinking about it to and they were all “oh it’s so dangerous, it’s not been well tested, bla bla” so I’m not telling them yet. I think a lot of people who say it’s cheating think it does everything for you. Whereas I think I’ve worked hard being really healthy. I don’t have a lot of suppression but it’s definitely helped me. I’m not likely to see them for a few months. I’m not sure what to do. Just flaunt in? One of them, who was quite negative about the jabs, is the other “fat member of the group” and I think we quite took comfort in having another chubby person. Anyway I can cross that bridge later.

MyScaredCat · 24/06/2025 16:01

I haven’t told anyone. My DH knows. He doesn’t really agree but doesn’t say anything about me using them.
everyone has noticed I’ve lost weight. I’m weighing tomorrow and reckon I’m about 24lbs down in 8 weeks. I just say I’m eating healthier and have cut out the crap, which isn’t a lie technically 😬

Cucumberinginplease · 24/06/2025 16:50

Afternoon all.
So, week 6 and moved up to 5mg this week. Same side effects as when starting 2.5mg, however I'd forgotten how grotty it made me feel that first week!
I've really struggled with nausea and eating which has caused the exhausted side effects.
I don't track calories (follow slimming world eating plan) but I know I've been way under what I should be the last few days.
It's just so hard making yourself eat when you feel rotten.
Sigh.

Hopefully things will settle soon.

I've told my close friends and close work colleagues. I've had nothing but support thankfully. My DH is wonderfully supportive. He, like me, is a foodie and is on his own weight loss journey. He was going to give MJ a go, however he has a history of thyroid cancer in the family so it was a no. He was also just under the BMI level needed. I think he's a bit jealous that I got approved and he has to loose weight the old fashioned way! 😁
