Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

I’m really sorry you’re having such a tough time (and Berfy and anyone else suffering). Would it be worth dropping down a dose? I’ve been lucky to not have had any SE, and I’ve decided I’d rather forgo the suppression and try to stay at a lower dose and keep using some willpower. (But then I dither thinking I’m wasting money taking it! And money is pretty tight at the moment. Particularly with a big vet’s bill pending!)

BerfyTigot · 19/07/2025 22:35

@Mounjour and others who have been commiserating with me. The problem is that if I don't take enough, I have terrible food noise. I almost feel like i need to take a tiny amount every day.

I think someone mentioned that a daily pill is being developed. That might suit me better 🤞.

I did consider stopping (when i was vomiting during the night) but at the moment it feels like the only thing I'm doing for me. I've been obese for so long that it would be unbelievable to get to just being overweight. So for now I'm carrying on with 1.25 every 4 days and just putting up with the side effects. Losing slowly now but at least I'm not gaining.

I did have a nsv this morning when I realised that I needed to tighten my watch strap by one hole 🥳

Well done to everyone keeping going, we'll get there!

tostaky · 19/07/2025 23:03

@dc82i have the shotsy app and i find it very useful as i experiment (a little bit) with my dosage. I like to see my levels. See picture to see what it is like: i did 2.5mg for a months then did the golden dose at 2.9mg. Then switch to 1.25 every 4 days. Decided to do every 5 days and changed my mind again! I quite like having a smaller dose more often as i dont get the extreme suppression and the nausea and somehow it sits better in my mind, not to have those larger spikes.
i may increase to 1.5 every 4 days in September as i feel i m getting used to the MJ

@Gingercarthanks for sharing the fact sheet about plateau, it is a great read
ive decided im ok with a plateau and i’ll increase in September. Im not gaining so that is what matters!

Mounjour · 20/07/2025 09:05

@Gingercar I've only just gone up to 3.3 from 2.5, and it's been good to feel that suppression again. I really should have gone up last month. Hey ho.

Good luck today everyone!

dc82 · 20/07/2025 09:24

Thanks @tostaky! I think that’s what I need. So I can see the estimated medication levels. Yay for the NSV 🥳. I’m sorry the SE are still there, but glad you’re finding a compromise in the middle for the moment.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 20/07/2025 10:08

@dc82 in addition tot the Shotsy app, there is also the plotter below, you can use it to adjust your dose. I tend to take 1.25 twice a week to stop having high peaks. Works better for me. I bought an extra pack of the wipes and the pen needles.

Thank you @lifetheuniverseandeverything42 Not seen that before - I can see now how I’m higher than I was last week on same dose. Handy quick tool to play with different scenarios. Thanks for sharing!

tostaky · 20/07/2025 11:16

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 thanks for sharing. So interesting for the geek in me!! 🤣

OhPolly · 20/07/2025 11:55

Hello everyone!

Weight loss is very slow here, definitely slower then last time.

14.5lb/6.6kg in 8 weeks which doesn't sound too bad but it's definitely hit a wall over the last 3 weeks and I've pretty much stayed the same.

I did however take some measurements and remeasured myself again today. In 6 weeks, I've lost 13.5inches in total from all over my body.

I might start tracking my food intake and get back on the bandwagon with prepping fresh, healthier meals and snacks.

I just tend to be eating less of the more convenient foods just lately.

Hope everyone is okay!

Gingercar · 20/07/2025 15:13

How is your dog @OhPolly?

We have had another veterinary emergency today. Found one of the bunnies looking v poorly this morning. Unfortunately he had to be pts. Which leaves his wife bunny alone again. She has had four husbuns since we’ve had her, and she’s outlived them all! She’s very old now and she’s m worried she’s too old to introduce to another. On the plus side, the horse seems well again.🤞

SutekhsEars · 19/07/2025 09:45

Has anyone here heard about set point theory? It's a bit complicated, but I think it's supposed to explain plateaus. Your body is used to being a certain weight, and it takes a while to get past each 'level.' I haven't explained it very well, I don't really understand it.

Yes I was reading about it this morning as I have definitely plateaued recently and am bang on losing 10% of my body weight. It very much resonated with me ad I have stayed at the same weight for over 2 weeks.

Took 3mg oj Friday night and no side effects so will try increase a bit each week.

I also bought some L-Tyrosine today on the recommendation on here as I'm struggling a lethargy. Will report back!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 20/07/2025 17:39

I have moved! There are boxes everywhere. I'm absolutely knackered.
I've had takeaways and eaten out the past couple of days. I've weighed myself and I've lost 1lb so overall I'm still on track. Today we went out for a three course meal, it was lovely but I felt dismayed on the drive home at the amount of calories. It was a celebration meal with family so it's fine. Trying to convince myself.

Sorry about your bunny, @gingercar. Glad your horse is OK!

How are you doing @Mounjour? I felt for you reading your post.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes with moving, sorry for being quiet.

Has anyone heard from @Dbatteryband? They made me laugh.

HereIGoOnceMore · 20/07/2025 17:52

Sorry about your bunny @Gingercarand others having life challenges. Progress remains slow for me, but more positively, I have been trying on holiday clothes and a few of my dresses look better so that has boosted my confidence.

I’m also experimenting with doses a bit, I seem to lose my appetite completely once my levels go above 5mg and mostly want to sleep. OTOH, below 2 and the suppression goes. I’m currently trying 3.3mg every 5 days.

Enjoy your new home @DidILeaveTheGasOn

Gingercar · 20/07/2025 19:07

Happy New House @DidILeaveTheGasOn! Hope you have a wonderful future of happy times there. And don’t worry about the calories- you’ll have burned off loads packing and lifting.

Mounjour · 20/07/2025 19:30

Thank you for checking @DidILeaveTheGasOn. I am feeling a bit better. It's been a stinker of a weekend and for once I have the Sunday Night Relief rather than Sunday Night Blues(!). I have got a new pair of jeans and a sparkly blouse for the party, and opted for a comfortable size 14 rather than slightly-too-aspirational size 12. I hope you don't regret your meals, moving is sooo stressful and we can only fight on so many fronts.

Apprenante · 21/07/2025 08:40

Wishing you lots of joy in your new home @DidILeaveTheGasOn

BerfyTigot · 21/07/2025 09:23

Oh @Gingercar I'm so sorry to hear about all your poorly pets and now your poor bunny. Well done for even keeping weight loss in mind.
And @DidILeaveTheGasOn congratulations on your move! Kudos to everyone who has major stuff going on and still stays on this thread.
As @Mounjour said, we can only fight on so many fronts.

Good luck to everyone today.

MyScaredCat · 21/07/2025 11:58

Hi all
im on holiday and jabbed on Friday before we left on Saturday.
after being so successful at home in routine (30lbs lost in 11 weeks) I can honestly say it’s so hard in an all inclusive. The food is amazing and for our family holidays are all about the food. I’m definitely feeling full quicker, but it’s not exactly restricting me. And alcohol aversion isn’t a thing here!
but it’s only a week. I’m not going to stress. I do think I’ll get a shock when I weigh in return

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 21/07/2025 12:57

@MyScaredCat even people who are slim and never used MJ indulge on holidays. There is nothing wrong with having a nice time on holiday and acknowledging that you may put a bit of weight on but also knowing that jt doesn’t need to be the start of a downward spiral. I’d still be a bit mindful and have smaller portions but no reason not to have an ice cream or two on holiday.

just to reassure you, I had a 2-day work conference and two friends BBQ two weeks ago. I did drink and ate more food than normal and went up a 1.5lb but most of it was water as I did not eat 5000 calories extra and the weight dropped right back down the next week. I lost 5.5lb last week when I reverted back to my usual calorie deficit and less carbs, I usually loose less half that so definitely most of the change was just water.

Have a lovely holiday, I’m jealous as we don’t have any plans this summer - building work happening which we want to keep an eye on and also it’s soooo expensive so we are skint.

MyScaredCat · 21/07/2025 13:04

I know logically it will drop off again once back to normal. Fascinating how the effect which is strong at home just isn’t. Have to admit it makes me worried for stopping. I only plan to do 1 more pen as I have about a stone to go. Thought I could manage without but doubting myself

AlicesMum2025 · 21/07/2025 15:32

I'm a bit snowed under at the moment so I'm only just getting around to posting about my Thursday weigh in, and I didn't post at all last week. It's a shame I didn't post last week though because I hit my first interim goal 🎉🎉

I lost 0.5kg/1lb this week and 1.9kg the week before so I'm very happy with that. Total lost in 11 weeks is now 15.6kg/34.5lbs/2st 6.5lb. I've lost 6.3 points from my BMI and am only 0.6 points from going down into the next decade. I'll still be class III obese but I'll take it as a win when it happens (🤞 this week).

Mounjour · 21/07/2025 19:10

I'm really "enjoying" W2 on 3.3mg. (Enjoy isn't the right word, but hopefully you know what I mean. I appreciate the appetite-suppression).

@MyScaredCat I'm on a short break next week and think I'll have a break from logging. I don't calorie-count, but I do track protein, plants etc. Did you change your jab day to accommodate the holiday or take the pen away with you?

Gingercar · 22/07/2025 08:33

I’ve lost count of the weeks, but it’s two calendar months since I started and I’ve lost another two lbs this week, taking me to a total loss of 1 stone 11lbs. I’m absolutely over the moon. I lost 7lbs the first week, but since then it hasn’t been any big losses, just a steady 2lbs a week usually. So it just shows steady progress mounts up.
Have the loveliest of days my May friends. 🙂

lissie123 · 22/07/2025 09:46

Morning everyone
Been thinking a lot about this medication. I really thought it wasn’t for me. Thought it was just a media frenzy and pharma making ££££. Now on the other side of the fence having lost a reasonable amount of weight using MJ with mostly mild side effects, I’m beginning to think for me it was the missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle? I appreciate that not everyone has had an easy ride on this journey with some horrible SEs, but does anyone else feel like this medication was that something that was missing in our bodies and it’s now getting what it needs?
