Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Morning losers

Not a loser this week...maintained for the second week in a row. Better than a gain of course, but grrr!

Still at 15st 10lbs (41 years old) but amazing to have broken through that 16st mark (and hope I won't see it again!)

Hope you've all got nice weekends ahead...Happy Moving Day @DidILeaveTheGasOn !

notgonnafail · 18/07/2025 10:30

Thanks everyone for the kind messages. Sadly, there's still no sign of my little furball.

Hope the move goes ok @DidILeaveTheGasOn and it will all be worth it once you're in and settled in the new place!

ElsieJay · 18/07/2025 16:42

Good luck with the house move @DidILeaveTheGasOn ! 🏡
Hope everything goes to plan, wishing you lots of happiness in your new home .

Well, the WW class ( they’re called “workshops” now) was fine , the leader is very warm and friendly and everyone made me feel welcome. It wasn’t a huge group, but quite lively and didn’t have that cliquey sort of atmosphere.
I weighed the same on their scales as I did on mine , but as I don’t trust mine I’ll just do a weekly weigh at the class group Workshop.
Didn’t mention the injections - not that I’ll be on them until next Weds at the earliest .

Mounjour · 18/07/2025 16:59

Welcome back @ElsieJay (can't believe you've been away for 5 weeks), well done to those enjoying successes and Flowers to those with struggles (weightloss and otherwise).

I've been in a funny, flat, anxious place. Hard to know what is the MJ, my new health condition or just midlife. Plateau finally broke (did I mention that already? Can't remember) and 2lb off this week. Thank god.

Tried some party dresses on for an approaching party and I thought I looked dreadful in every single one. I looked like a man in a dress. Or a sack of spuds. Was gutted; Have ordered some jeans and tops to try on instead. I'll be under dressed, but it's a daytime-ish party and at least I'll feel comfortable.

I continue to struggle with the idea of stopping. Do I quit and take a break from the side effects and financial costs. or push through and try to hit my target? After dressgate I've decided to give it another month at least.

ElsieJay · 18/07/2025 17:31

Thanks, @Mounjour - it’s weird, sometimes it flew by and other times it dragged a bit , the extreme heat didn’t help. Less tolerant of sunshine as I’ve got older I think .
Dont be so hard on yourself, please.
And go to the party in what you feel most comfortable in , remember the most important and memorable thing you can wear is a smile.
Well done on the 2lbs off this week !

Gingercar · 18/07/2025 20:15

I’ve had a pig of a day. Our horse came in a bit strange this morning and by 10.30 was looking colicky. So I spent all morning waiting for the emergency vet. He’s had injections but still hasn’t poooed or drank anything. I then had to drive 45 mins each way with the bunnies for their jabs and check up. They’re both getting old and needed meds for a couple of issues. Then when I got home I had to call the horse vet back to try to get some fluids down him. But the vet couldn’t get him to swallow the tube and ended up giving up, so that’s a call out charge for nothing! So we’re praying for poops! The animals have probably spent my mounjaro budget for the next five months today. 🥹
And so we got to 7pm and I’ve barely eaten all day or done the shopping for the cafe. Ended up having a bag of baked light crisps. Didn’t even like them that much! But hey ho. Weirdly I don’t feel remotely guilty like I usually would!

Seahorsesplendour · 18/07/2025 21:22

@Mounjour i second the be kind to yourself message! Just wear something you are comfortable in and enjoy yourself! 🥂

I’ve had a day of looking at myself and thinking nothing has changed so made myself look at my photos from last weekend in same clothes as I started in and I can see it on those.

did my first 7.5 this morning I had initially planned to do 6.6 but had a moment of oh what the hell & went the whole hog!!!! Have been very full all day!!! Just about managed a smoothy some meat & salad.

not sure if was cos of last nights takeaway or the jab most likely both!!! 🙈

@Gingercar & @notgonnafail sorry about all the animal related trauma!!! 💕

Kbr22 · 18/07/2025 21:30

Wow, we are a sorry lot today aren’t we. I was going to moan about not losing, 10th jab and only a stone off.
I then read all today’s posts so @SussexLass87 I feel your pain.
@notgonnafail hoping that you get good news today re your cat.
Happy that @ElsieJay has found a group that sounds good for you.
@Mounjour well done on your loss of 2lb’s, so jealous! I am in the same predicament as you, a party tomorrow, haven’t a clue what to wear, and how do I avoid the alcohol drinking. I told my Sister In Law that I was going to drive, so wouldn’t be drinking, she looked at me and said “I hope to goodness you are not on those awful fat jabs and you are going to stop drinking and getting really boring”! @Gingercar and @DidILeaveTheGasOn you are both going through so much at the moment, just take care and look after yourself’s if that is possible. Let’s all hope for a better week tomorrow, and yes I did succumb to a couple of glasses of white wine tonight, but s*d it!!!!!

BerfyTigot · 18/07/2025 22:54

Just caught up on thread. So sorry that so many of you are going through such hard times.

I had self-inflicted vomiting and diarrhoea last night and today caused by trying to increase my dose.

It's one way to stop eating 🙄

Hope things improve for everyone soon😁

SutekhsEars · 19/07/2025 08:26

Sorry to everyone having a tough time of it.
My weight is slightly up this week, annoyingly.

SaintAgatha · 19/07/2025 08:28

@Cucumberinginplease I have struggled with lethargy since moving up to the 5mg. I’m definitely not getting enough protein though and I suspect I’m iron deficient so I’m going to sort that out next week. I really want to start at the gym but I’m time poor, and too knackered, to contemplate even a run at the moment. I also need to weigh! I haven’t been, I’ve been going by clothes size and the way things look on me.

Gingercar · 19/07/2025 08:44

Our horse seems a lot better today, touch wood.

I had a bit of a wobble last night. After watching my horse struggle with a slow digestion/colic yesterday, and after years of watching my husband be very poorly and have several major operations due to his bowels not working properly, I was wondering if I’m crazy taking something to affect my own digestion.

tostaky · 19/07/2025 08:48

I am sorry to hear about horses suffering, cats missing and stressful moves.
ive been plateau-ing for the past week. Last night i skipped dinner (but had a 0% alcohol pint of beer). And my weight is stubbornly not moving. Not sure what to do beyond fasting! Someone mentioned the body “consolidating” the weight loss during plateau so i am reassuring myself tbis is what is happening.

also i find it hard to eat family meals because i am eating so little it feels pointless to sit down, get a plate and nibble on some broccoli and one egg… while my kids have a more “full” meal.
it also makes me sad when i see my kids hi ering around the fridge or eating too much and i think about how eating patterns are ingrained in is from a very young age and it is difficult to be aware of it and stop it.

Seahorsesplendour · 19/07/2025 08:53

@Gingercar glad to hear your horse is improving!! Must be horrid for them!!

I can totally understand your wobble and only you can know if it’s worth it for you ❤
for me it is worth all the risks because my weight was impacting hugely on my life & health & was only getting worse and I cannot sustain big weight loss on will power alone. It’s such an individual journey!!

sending big hugs on this grey Saturday!!

Gingercar · 19/07/2025 09:15

Thank you. I will carry on because I too was getting where I would have lots of health issues if I didn’t pull my self up. And I did speak to quite a few DRs before starting, none of whom were negative about it. Pls it’s working and I don’t have side effects. It just got my head over analysing.

Gingercar · 19/07/2025 09:20

@tostaky this is a fact sheet by the Care Pharmacy that might help, I used to be on their Facebook page, which was so helpful, but they took it down due to Facebook legal issues. They’re about to launch a WLI forum. I’ll share details to that. I’m actually considering moving to them, they’re great in the help they give people. They’re not the cheapest, but cheaper than Voy, who I’m currently with.

SutekhsEars · 19/07/2025 09:45

Has anyone here heard about set point theory? It's a bit complicated, but I think it's supposed to explain plateaus. Your body is used to being a certain weight, and it takes a while to get past each 'level.' I haven't explained it very well, I don't really understand it.

Seahorsesplendour · 19/07/2025 09:52

@SutekhsEars yes I read about it in why we eat (too much) which is a great book for helping understand your own issues with food and the weight set point does make a lot of sense! I see it in myself I’m hoping MJ lets me push through until it’s set much lower!!

I'm there now I think as 2lb off in 2weeks which whilst in please has slowed down a lot and has felt like a struggle compared to previous!!

i’m refocusing on my water & protein this week!! I’ve got 2 weeks before holiday!!

HereIGoOnceMore · 19/07/2025 10:11

A big takeaway for me from why we eat too much, was to think about what you would want to eat to stay healthy after achieving your goal and to keep that in mind when planning your chosen regime. I found the advice helpful build good habits and focus on positive psychology, whilst also understanding that the slow and steady approach was likely to be more successful and sustainable.

For me, my TDEE at my goal weight is a very unpositive 1450, but knowing that longer term, I want my lifestyle to include the occasional dessert along with a glass of wine and that that means mainly sticking to 1200 calories mid week is helping me to stay on track mentally despite slow progress.

dc82 · 19/07/2025 11:02

Morning everyone!

@Gingercar glad to hear your horse is feeling a bit better. Can only echo what everyone else has said, be kind on yourself you had a pants day yesterday and that’s always a recipe for brain being on the downer.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn hope the move went ok!

I’m due my next dose tomorrow ( 11?) but I’ve had really strong suppression this week and it’s not dropped yet at all this week, when last week it tapered later in the week. This is my 2nd week on 3.75 and I wonder if it’s still building up in me or something. Should I get the shotsy app? I don’t know whether to take tomorrow or delay a day or two. Anyone else found this?

dc82 · 19/07/2025 11:09

@Mounjour i wanted to give you a big hug reading your post. I think every single one of us on here has experience of these days where you look in the mirror and just feel the worst. It’s really upsetting to go through when it happens. We are self critical and society has a lot to blame for that, then throw in hormones on certain days and it’s a recipe for beating ourselves up. If it was a friend stood with you trying on outfits you would have seen all the positives and admired how they look. It’s like we put on mean glasses to ourselves I think. Well done on the loss this week, you’re doing fab!

chergar · 19/07/2025 17:43

Weekly check in just taken 9th jab, went for the 5mg as had done 3.75 for a couple of weeks but food noose was getting bad.
After gaining 2.6lb last week I have lost 3.5lb this week so pleased with that.
total loss now 2st 1.6lb.

SutekhsEars · 19/07/2025 20:01

I'm considering doing Slimpod. Has anyone here tried it? I've signed up for the 10 day trial. Of course, it's hard to know if it's working or if it's all just the mounjaro. The Facebook group is full of absolute loons though! It's like a flipping cult!

Apprenante · 19/07/2025 20:20

Hello - I'm back from my course in France and gained just a pound and a half - I'm quite happy with that.

I didn't jab whilst I was away so went I think for 11 days sans medication. No problem with food noise but my ability to finish what was on my plate certainly increased! And my aversion to alcohol disappeared 😉. But then it's rude to be in France and not drink at all.

Sorry to hear about poorly animals and general wobbles. Positive thoughts to everyone who needs them.

Mounjour · 19/07/2025 21:30

Thank you @ElsieJay, @Seahorsesplendour, @Kbr22 and @dc82 for the kind thoughts and @ Everyone for the kind space.

@Gingercar I too have am second guessing myself all of the time. It's a game of nerves just sticking at it for me. Like @BerfyTigot I've had pretty bad nausea and diarrhea since going up to 3.3mg and wondering if it's all worth it. For now it is, taking it a week at a time.
