Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

Thanks @dizzyupthegirl86 & @notgonnafail . I'm trying to drink a cup of tea now to get rid of the taste, but I feel quite queasy!
I'll try it in a smoothie tomorrow.

Cup of tea sounds a good idea! Sorry your first experience was so rotten. Hope you find it better in a smoothie x

Sallycinnamum · 29/06/2025 10:00

Yesterday was a complete write off. Struggled with nausea and fatigue all day and only ate a slice of toast.

Feel better today after a good night's sleep but still can't eat anything. I'd forgotten how strong the initial suppression can be.

Might have to go down to 3mg next week as I can't have another day like that. Thank god I didn't go straight up to 5mg!

dc82 · 29/06/2025 10:37

Morning everyone. Well absolutely gutted as new scales have put my weight up 😭. I knew my old scales were on the way out but it’s a bit disheartening to feel you’ve suddenly gained weight overnight. I know in reality it doesn’t change what I’ve lost since overall being on mj as the old scales always showed the progress, but it does mean I was about 6lbs heavier than I thought i was at the start 🫤 and now have a bit more to lose than I thought.

crap

ah well motivated to try harder this week and im going to try going up to 3.75 today (week 7).

dc82 · 29/06/2025 10:40

@SutekhsEars ive the plant huel stuff and i can only manage it in smoothies - does totally help mask so hope it helps you too 😊

HKG · 29/06/2025 10:43

@Sallycinnamum im sorry to hear you’re feeling crummy. Hope it was short lived and you feeling better today.

@dc82 i hear you, the logical mind knows it’s no different but it’s still dispiriting. Sending strength to you!

im on day two of D&V from second 5mg jab now. Seriously regretting my decision to go straight to 5 and not trying 3.75 first. I’m considering going back down to it for the next jab - has anyone else done this?

also, did anyone else see the ITV report last night on WLI and pancreatitis? I’ve not done any research on this but if anyone has I’d love to hear thoughts!

Merluzzo · 29/06/2025 10:55

@HKG I’m going down to 3.75 for my next jab, I can’t cope with the SEs of 5mg. The first 5mg jab I had to write off nearly the whole week due to the nausea. My 2nd 5mg jab was bizarrely absolutely fine so I took a 3rd on Friday. I was up from 2am Saturday with D&V, I can’t keep feeling so bad. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Thank you for sharing this! I am the same, absolutely no D&V from the first 5mg jab then this week’s second has floored me. I can’t cope like this and my poor DH having to pick up all the slack. Think I will try 3.75 this week too.

I keep catching glimpses of myself in the mirror and I’m so irritated with myself that I let me get to this stage and making myself sick to get better if that makes any sense?? Urgh !

dc82 · 29/06/2025 11:00

Thanks @HKG. Just trying to not let the disappointment win over and instead what I can do to change it. (Lucky it’s not time of my period or id be crying all day)

Sorry you’re feeling physically pants and @Sallycinnamum too. MJ is most definitely not the ‘easy’ route the press says it is. Hope you both feel brighter as the day goes on today - I find peppermint tea helps when I’m feeling 🤢

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 29/06/2025 11:01

@HKG Ah I'm sorry you're still unwell, that's rotten. I hoped it would have passed.

I didn't see the ITV report but I worry there is a sizeable backlash coming after the BBC reported about WLI and pancreatitis this week, and now ITV getting on the bandwagon.

People that are obese are at risk of developing gallstones and pancreatitis. People that are obese are taking WLI. A risk of weight loss when starting at an obese weight is pancreatitis and gallstones. As yet, it doesn't appear that a direct causal link between WLI and these conditions has been established, but rather that these were part of many risks associated with obesity.

The fact that public feeling towards WLIs seems to be overwhelmingly negative leads me to expect media reports to be gleefully scaremongering and helping to foster an Us versus Them finger wagging mentality.

Why don't they just eat less and move more instead of being lazy? Fat people are so dumb, they should be ashamed of themselves. If they're not ashamed, several profitable industries will collapse. Won't someone think of capitalism?

Come on Channel 5, your turn to produce a salacious and grimy fauxcumentary!

HKG · 29/06/2025 11:05

Thank you a million times for this!!!! I feel so much better for reading this now. I’ve al steady had my gall bladder removed years ago so o wonder how this will affect it too.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, I love this little community!

HKG · 29/06/2025 11:08

@DidILeaveTheGasOn love this! It’s like the inside of my head being said by someone else!

SutekhsEars · 29/06/2025 11:27

Sorry to everyone who's feeling unwell or dispirited this morning. I was going to name check everyone, but there's too many, unfortunately. Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday and has a better start to the week.

We've had a long family chat about avoiding conflict, and mutual respect. Now they are both sulking in their bedrooms!

Cucumberinginplease · 29/06/2025 11:28

Morning all!
I wrote a lovely post yesterday and didn't post it before the mayhem of Saturday kicked in, so I lost it!

I'm in the 46 club too, although not the 5'6" one. I'm 5' 7.5" (I'll happily donate the 0.5 to anyone who wants it as it makes trousers buying tricky as I'm not tall enough for tall, but often too tall for regular!

Weight day on Friday was changed to Saturday as I forgot to weigh on Friday morning! Was unusually in work so it buggered my normal routine.
I lost 3lb which I was chuffed with. I have 1st 8lb to get to target which feels bonkers!

Just done my second 5mg jab. The side effects this week have been brutal, I've been sooo tired and nauseated I really struggled to eat until day 5 so hoping they aren't too bad this week.
Starting to think about my next pen, feel like staying on 5mg might be a plan but then don't want to be stuck with not enough suppression and needing loads of will power.

Hope all those feeling unwell feel better soon and lots of love to all those not loosing as quickly as desired. I feel you. It's hard to remember that a loss is better than a gain when you just want it gone!
Sending strength to those battling malevolent children and partners, may they settle down soon!

BerfyTigot · 29/06/2025 11:29

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I agree there are so many negative stories about the jabs recently. It seems like every day there's another.

Makes me wonder if they are being written by WeightWatchers marketing team!

It's definitely not a quick fix for me, and definitely not "easy". I have health conditions which make exercise difficult and I was getting fatter and fatter because of them, so this is a life saver for me (albeit a slow one!)

Hopefully in a few years time there will be enough data to show that they save the nhs money long term.

TreesOfGreen99 · 29/06/2025 11:31

Re Pancreatitis, - I collect my jab from the local pharmacy and have a 15 minute check in with pharmacist each (both) time.
In each case they’ve been really hot on the issue of pancreatitis, and the symptoms. And explained there is an increased risk compared to the general population.
However, they’ve also stressed that they’ve not had any cases with the patients using the jabs through them, and what they’ve read/seen suggests it’s been a bigger issue with patients who should not have been given the drug initially.
Either because they have existing health conditions/history which they’ve not disclosed, or have not been picked up by the prescriber, or they are accessing unregulated supplies.
So overall, I am reassured and I know who to contact should I get symptoms.
But I agree that the media will continue topsint a picture of doom, gloom, dying patients, lazy people. etc. etc.

Mounjour · 29/06/2025 11:40

Inspired by my Meniere's twin @Apprenante I have started the day with an hour's walk in the countryside. Am wondering if some of my nausea is down to the MJ as much as my dizziness.

My aspiration of a 2lb-loss week is not looking likely due to eating decisions already this weekend.

Is anyone with Oushk and had the new video call consultation? Mine is on Tuesday and I've had no information about what it entails.

Sallycinnamum · 29/06/2025 13:15

Thanks for your sympathy all!

Feel tons better today and even managed a shopping trip in this heat this morning.

May try jabbing in my thigh this week. It really lessened the symptoms the first time around.

Like others I'm fed up of people thinking wli are an easy route. Just seeing the side effects suffered by many of us proves its not!

SussexLass87 · 29/06/2025 13:27

Hi all 👋

I'm back from a weekend of camping with the family and survived both that and my first 5mg jab! 🤣

Super duper suppressed and luckily we'd planned ahead by packing plenty of cold meats and salad. The twister lolly was absolutely required as the heat wave hit!

Sending love to anyone struggling and congrats to the losers.

Just off to do twelvetybillion loads of laundry now....🤪

Seahorsesplendour · 29/06/2025 13:42

@Cucumberinginplease I’ll have your 0.5” thanks!!

I was 5ft 0.5” but seem to have lost the 0.5 over the 47 years! Lots of us at similar ages on here!!

at family’s for lunch and very not hungry!! 🙈 did say I was eating less but need to force some down!! Typical when I spent wed until sat starving 🤣

Mounjour · 29/06/2025 13:52

@Seahorsesplendour was in the Sunday roast? I guess in this heat a lot of people have a low appetite.

Seahorsesplendour · 29/06/2025 15:19

Yup full roast I avoided the cauli cheese (mainly cos I don’t like it 😂) and have minimal potatoes so mostly chicken & veg & actually really enjoyed it!!! But yes the house was like a green house while the oven was on!!! Visit to the park with ds to walk it off!!

hope everyone managing to stay cool!

sunshinesandringham · 29/06/2025 15:29

Hello on this lovely sunny afternoon! Just trying to catch up with everyone’s posts. Like a few others 5mg is proving too much for me! I had 2 doses and it just wiped me out with tiredness , took 4 last does and still think the suppression is too strong , not interested at all in food . Going to do 3.75 going forward . Those that are also taking a smaller dose so getting more out of pens - are you still ordering every 4 weeks with your supplier? I got a £10 code from Asda to stay with them so my pen only cost 128 this month and I can collect too which suits me so I’m pleased with that price . Feel very lethargic today!

planesick · 29/06/2025 16:12

chergar · 28/06/2025 19:24

Weekly check in
2nd 5mg jab today
no SE except tiredness all day
NSV - was shopping last night in local shopping centre and walked the full length at quite a pace and wasn’t out of breath or had to stop halfway for a rest as I did a few weeks ago. Went into one of the stores which had exercise equipment, asked dh to lift a kettlebell and told him that is roughly what I’ve lost, he was shocked 🤣
body wise I feel a bit more squidgy in my stomach area, not as solid as it was, also my waist is starting to make an appearance, and strangely my fingernails are stronger and growing better.

losses so far
wk1 - 6.8
wk2 - 4.2
wk3 - 4.6
wk4 - 2.6 (period)
wk5 - 6.3
total 24.5 (11kg)

My fingernails have grown too! I have been a chronic biter since I was little (now 55). But in the last month, I have nails. I might book a manicure when I have lost a bit more!
